A nice night out in Philly! Was visiting friends in Philly and we went out for a nice dinner. The plan was we had a reservation, but a technical snafu on our end never processed the reservation, clearly a simple mistake. When we arrived, our non existent reservation was not there. Luckily we arrived before it was to busy and they managed to find a table. While it was clearly a mistake, it would have meant looking for another location close by which is not easy on a busy Saturday evening. We were soon seated and ordered the Polipo alla Griglia (grilled octopus olive & artichoke farro salad, whipped ricotta) and the Involtino Saltimbocca (Roasted pork tenderloin lled with prosciutto & sage polenta, marsala sauce) was my main course. Food and service was spectacular and hit the spot. The other food served was equally enjoyed by all in attendancein our party. While we could have easily been turned away without a confirmed reservation, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our party which says a grewt deal about the customer service offered. Will add that we also had a toddler in tow so we would have to push the stroller to a new location after bundling up. Thanks to the staff at L'Anima for a great dinning experience. I believe the lovely female that accommodated our request was the owner, so that even make they experience even better knowing the owner is an active part of the overall experience. Food and appetizers were delicious as well as the warm fresh bread that was served when we arrived.

We're so glad to have L'anima in the neighborhood! The staff is wonderful and friendly, and the food is consistently delicious. The standards like the crab spaghetti are great, and the specials are always...special! The patio is a lovely place to eat in nice weather. The inside is comfortable, but a little noisy when it's full.

Had an amazing experience at L’Anima my fiancée end I ate outside came hungry and left very satisfied. We sat outside on the great patio and started with a pizza which I didn’t expect to be that good, perfectly cooked with some nice crust. We got shared two pasta dishes the caccio e Pepe and the crab in red sauce with breadcrumbs and my gosh we were licking the plate when we finished. Our server was fantastic and we were able to meet the owner and chef who couldn’t have been nicer. This will certainly be a staple for us in the future would highly recommend you give it a try!

LOVED the food and our experience. The dining area is very cute and we tried four different pastas (all very good). The portions are fair for the price, however I would have liked to add parm to some dishes but that wasn’t offered. My favorite pasta was either the gnocchi with mushrooms or the squid ink with seafood (the special, not a staple menu item). Honestly the waitstaff was my favorite part of this experience! They were knowledgeable of everything on the menu and had great recommendations. The tiramisu wasn’t the most photogenic, but my favorite thing we had.

Everything was so delicious. We had the burrata appetizer, parmigiana pinsa, grigliata di pesce, and the rose water cotta for dessert. Everything was so, so tasty and the service was great. Love that it’s BYOB as other reviewers have mentioned. They have both indoor and outdoor seating - both areas have a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend this place to others. Looking forward to returning!

Super tasty food! The best gnocchi I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of gnocchi! Absolutely love this place!

I am so thrilled that we stopped in to this lovely restaurant! Everyone was welcoming and friendly, the food was incredible, and the space so bright and inviting. The patio is spacious and evokes memories of piazza dining in Europe. Will definitely be back!

Delicious Italian byob in graduate hospital area. The food is high class which you wouldn’t know looking at the restaurant. It’s in a new Construction building and doesn’t look like this fancy food would be served here. Service was also lovely and super friendly. Pasta plates cost around $15-20, with some $20-30 entrees on the menu.

Not your average neighborhood Italian: L’Anima’s menu is a collection of quintessential classics, but the execution, ingredient selection, and presentation are all A+. The gnocchi are truly among the best I’ve ever had (modified to vegetarian since we don’t eat pork). The parmigiana pinsa was so yummy and appealing that we did not even pause to take a photo. This was a meal in which absolutely nothing went wrong and all expectations were exceeded— we’ll be back. (Several dishes can be modified to vegetarian.)

L’ anima is so far the best Italian restaurant I’ve had in Philly! The food is absolutely amazing and very authentic. The pasta was to die for and the service was wonderful! Zachery was a great server!

Been to L'Anima 3 times now. It's a great Italian BYOB, definitely a sleepy gem in the neighborhood. The outdoor seating is simply perfect for the summer and indoors open and spacious in the winter. The pasta dishes are fresh, with a good mix of seafood and meat choices. On my most recent visit I got their saffron linguine special with crab meat and my GF had chicken cotoletta which was a breaded chicken filet with buratta. The crab meat was so good and there was a lot, the filet was perfectly cooked and the burrata was great too. We love having this place in the neighborhood, def worth a visit.

Excellent BYOB. Clean modern space. Saffron pasta special with crab was delicious. Appetizers were good as well. Our server, Liz, was professional.

Walk by everyday and had no idea how good the food is here. I was legitimately blown away. The pasta amatriciana was better than some that I had in Rome. Our waiter said the chef is actually from Rome which is why it was so authentic. The burrata, meatballs, octopus and pastas were incredible. I’ll go as far as saying this is one of the best italian restaurants in the city and rivals Fiorella

Welcome to the neighborhood l’anima! This place is very kid friendly but also great for an adult night out since it is BYOB. The Gnocci and sea scallops were both delicious. Great service as well.

Great place for catching up with friends, sharing plates and eating pizza. The pizza on special was really bold, while I did not get it, it sounded really adventurous; head cheese and burrata...woah, totally unexpected.

This restaurant always delivers. It's a BYOB that excites your palate with imaginative twists on Italian favorites. From apps to entrees to pizza everything is delicious. My only critique is that it could get a bit loud. Although they've tried with acoustic ceiling tiles, you're always saying what to everything. If the noise level is too much you can always choose to eat outside. Either way the food is just as good.

Service was excellent. Everyone was so polite and helpful. Food was good too! Pasta was a little undercooked but that's not the norm here, maybe we just went on an odd day.

We had a fantastic experience and the food was exceptional. We really enjoyed the pinot wine! We had the gnocchi, strip steak with frites, and another pasta dish we can't remember. Out server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Really delighted with the atmosphere, everything was clean and orderly.

Absolutely fantastic from the minute we walked in to the restaurant!!! Zach was so awesome greeting us like we were long lost relatives! Rose, the owner was so gracious and friendly. Hands down, the best meal we had. My sister, niece and I have a subscription to the Walnut Street Theatre and always go to dinner afterwards at different restaurants. We don’t ever want to go anywhere else. From the greeting as we entered to the service from our waiter Zach, to our delicious, fantastic dinner, everything was superb!! I wish I could give it 10 stars!! Thank you so much!

We hosted a private event at L’Anima and it was fantastic. They bent over backwards to create a customized menu that met our guests dietary and multicultural needs. The food and service were top notch. I would definitely recommend!

We went this evening for my mom’s 60th with a party of 8. Our waiter was phenomenal, so attentive and funny. Everything we ordered was 5 stars. Every. Single. Dish. The appetizers came out fast and our waiter was very knowledgeable about how many to order to accommodate our party. The entrees were perfectly sized and I’m going to dream about my pasta forever. Dessert was absolutely amazing and the portions were awesome for the price. 10/10 recommend, 10/10 will be back asap. Thank you so much for making my moms birthday so wonderful!!!

Fantastic meal, all local stuff. The pasta dishes were fantastic, and there's plenty of options (but not TOO many) to make us return customers. Quiet non pretentious setting, intimate but not cheesy. Doesnt take itself overly seriously, and that's a major plus. And as non drinkers, nice that is BYOB and we can bring a nice NA Rose.

we were suspicious of this place because no one had heard of it and it was so easy to get a table on a Sat night! It was very good, and also great that they are BYOB! I want to come back in summer and see what the terrace looks like.

All the food was delicious. The gnocchi and the fries were outstanding! Service was great. If it could be improved: the bread they served in the beginning was old and not good. The octopus needed a bit more salt or seasoning (and I generally eat less salty foods)

We have taken friends here twice. I have tried the octopus appetizer and, the mushroom appetizer , both delicious. I had the wild boar pasta and the gnocchi, both also excellent. I recommended the first to our friends (who can be food snobs sometimes), and they loved it. The service is great (Luca and Zack). We love it. Bonus, it’s a BYOB (a Philly thing), so, frankly, you save a little money. No corkage fee.

We made last minute reservations and regret nothing. The servers were so kind, the steak got rave reviews from our kid, the eggplant flatbread was amazing. BYOB. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the arts section of the city.

My wife and I have been here a dozen times and have loved it each time. Everything on the menu is amazing and fresh and really reasonably priced. The servers are all very professional and courteous, yet genuine and nice. The ambience is also really lovely for either a larger group or for a smaller more intimate event. In fact, we held our rehearsal dinner here and the entire staff helped make our dinner party of ~25 people a really memorable experience. It is one of our favorite restaurants in Philly!

Great vibe. Incredibly fresh food. Excellent service. And it’s in our neighborhood!! People casually dressed but upscale food. BYOB and wine sold as well. Did not disappoint!

We’ve been here twice now in a couple of weeks and the food has been amazing. The menu changes often it seems and they always have new specials. The pasta is amazing! We loved the beef Pappardelle and Amatriciana (a bit spicy). We also really enjoyed the tuna crudo and the roasted artichoke. I’m sure you couldn’t go wrong with anything you choose!!

L’Anima is an absolute gem. The food is outstanding, truly authentic, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish reflects real care and quality. Just as impressive is the service: attentive, welcoming, and genuinely impeccable without ever feeling forced. You feel well taken care of from start to finish. A place that gets everything right—highly recommended and absolutely worth returning to.

L’Anima delivers authentic Italian food that’s thoughtful, comforting, and full of flavor. The gnocchi is outstanding, and every dish reflects the pride the owners take in preparing and serving their food. The service is warm, attentive, and effortless, making you feel well taken care of from start to finish. A place that truly gets everything right and is always worth returning to.

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely dinner. Our server Adam, was wonderful, and knowledgeable. We just had 2 dishes, the saltimbocca and the pappardelle which were outstanding. I don't really eat pork but I'll eat the saltimbocca again and again. It was a nice night so we enjoyed dinner on the patio. Can't wait to come back, its a neighborhood gem

We went on NYE and did their NYE special. I think it was worth it. Good portions, tasty food, and lots of options/variety. I definitely enjoyed the steak. My friend enjoyed the fish. We would definitely go back again and recommend. The customer service was great. It was a bit tight size wise a table for two was a bit tight but like i said it was fine. We thoroughly had a good experience. It’s byob so that’s a huge plus!

I ate here for Valentine’s Day and thought it was just okay. The atmosphere is cute but I was disappointed that folks dressed so casually. The attire of patrons took away from a potentially higher end experience. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious but the main seafood entree had no flavor and just tasted like char. The dessert was okay. Not sure I’ll return.

A wonderful new addition to the Point Breeze & Graduate Hospital neighborhoods! L'anima is a bright and pleasant BYOB tucked into the corner of 17th & Carpenter. The staff was energetic & polite. We started our meal with a couple of appetizers, the swordfish largo skewers and the Arrosticini di Pesce Spada. Both were very good, although I'm not a fan of anchovies, they were easy to pick off the bruschetta and didn't take away from this dish. Our entree's were the Amatriciana and the Reginae. The pasta in the Amatriciana was cooked perfectly. The Reginae pizza could have been more flavorful. Maybe some sweetness or spicy but it needed something to give it a personality. Otherwise, we'll be going back. Hope you enjoy and have fun! P.S. they don't take AMEX.

Tasty Italian food with nice ambiance. The service was great and very accommodating with our large group. Dessert there was also great if you have the room for it after the entrees!

Nice BYOB. Food was a little blend and fall a little short from expectations for me

There was some confusion with the number of guests for my reservation of 5 since some of my party arrived before me. Once we moved ourselves from a 4top to the only open table for 5 people (unclear why they didn't offer this solution), it took at least 15 minutes for anyone to come by the table. Even after the full party arrived 2 guests did not have a menu and it still took a long time for anyone to greet us. Once the server came around, service was fine. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, though... and the squid ink pasta with scallops (chefs special that day) was Delicious. I found it odd that at an Italian restaurant where spaghetti dishes are served (like mine and my friend's), there wasn't a spoon provided to twirl the spaghetti. The server wasn't around enough for me to even ask soon or even for a fair amount of time after my meal arrived, so I gave up. I don't know if they usually only have the one server for the night on a Thursday but basically --- service was subpar but food delicious. Honestly would not recommend unless yoy see they are fully staffed.

The service here was great especially our server Corey. The appetizer we had was great but the main dishes was only average. I’ll probably go back again but might only order appetizers.

Cozy atmosphere with very attentive, friendly staff. Came on a Friday night around 630 with no reservation and was seated right away. The waiter recommended the poached calimari appetizer and we were disappointed with its rubbery, flavorless texture which was overpowered by the raw red onion. Potato gnocchi was delicious but very heavy, with a sauce consisting mostly of heavy cream and butter. We finished the meal with an excellent cannoli with very well balanced orange flavors. Altogether, the meal was very good but a bit overpriced.

I came here tonight (Thursday evening) with a party of 9 to celebrate a birthday, and although the food was great, the service was unprofessional. I saw a prior review which said that on Thursday nights there is only one server and that was the case for us as well. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant, our check had multiple errors and had to be sent back many times. Normally this would have been fine since we are a very relaxed group-but our waitress Stephanie was very rude with us when we brought up these inconsistencies, for example when we reminded her that she gave us an extra pasta by mistake even though we only ordered one of that kind- she kept saying ‘well you ate it didn’t you’ . But we didn’t want the extra one in the first place. I just think the service could be more amicable, but the ambiance and food was great.
