As soon as you step inside, you'll experience an incredible atmosphere and a diverse food palette that showcases the best of Province Rhode Island. Chef Gloria adds a touch of perfection to every dish.❤️
Yummy cozy peaceful warm place. Went for first time last week and am coming back. The beets salad is a home run. Light, flavorful, beets were perfectly cooked, the crunchy roasted pistachios mixed in w the creamy whipped cheese transported me to heaven. 💙🙏
yall i came here literally a year ago and i still dream about it. today i was looking at restaurant weeks and realized i wanna go to otra again. i pulled out old photos to show my family out of state and they all wanna come together for our visit soon. we came a year ago for my best friend’s birthday and truly this is a unique quality dining experience in prov. and there’s so much to compete with in prov like we have such an amazing food scene here, bragworthy. but otra has managed to set itself apart from the rest with its unique cuisine, high end service, and cozy atmosphere. the plating of the bone marrow is something i reminisce about often and im so excited to come back soon.
A great restaurant with all foods coming out perfectly, tasty, nice presentation etc. Service is very good. Seafood is fresh and meats are tender, seasoned perfectly.
Our first visit to Otra was a surprising pleasure. We had been to Bacaro and enjoyed it so we had high hopes. The trouble is that a recent (2nd) trip to Barcelona had all but ruined American restaurants for us. So when every tapa dish we ordered was a home run we were very impressed indeed. Be sure to try the octopus and pork belly. And the simple pan con tomate was super flavorful. Well done! We will be back
Food, atmosphere, drinks, and if you are lucky enough to have Adam as your server👌🏾🤩Honestly one of the best personality and vibes ever! He is amazing and our big group of 19 ladies had an awesome time Celebrating Liz Birthday! I wish I could give Adam 20✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Fabulous meal featuring tapas like you'd find in Barcelona. Service is friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Definitely get the huevos cabreados and seafood paella.
Incredible job Brian!!! food and decor from the entrance to the bar and restrooms are elegant delicious and beyond unique flavor and presentation Staff is extremely knowledgeable/hospitable (Adam). Great experience worth the vicarious adventure to Spain/Portugal cuisine. Loved it all !!! Shrimp tapa and warm eggplant caponata
Really friendly service at the bar. All the food was delicious!
Not going to Portugal til April but I’ve been to Spain and the food here gave me those kinda feels!
Stopped here for dinner prior to a show. Impressed by the food, service and cocktails.
the owners and staff are wonderful… the food is fresh and full of flavor… i will absolutely be back again
The service here is very great. Polite service, and the food is very good, delicious and enticing.
Wow! A true food experience. Super friendly service and outstanding food. I can’t wait to come again soon!
Legit food, eclectic yet concise menu featuring all the hits, and attentive and more importantly quick service. Get the pork belly, croquettes and octopus, among other great options.
Excellent food and service. Although I like traditional tapas, OTRA provides some creative versions of the traditional. The service was excellent. However, it was so noisy in the restaurant, I did not enjoy my meal as much as I could have. In fact, so noisy that I am not sure I would return.
I was just telling my husband how I feel as though I’m hard to impress at restaurants and then we dined at Otra this evening and the food and drinks were incredible. Truly a wonderful dining experience.
Really great experience. Nice variety of food options to choose from, cocktails were delicious. Service was excellent, our server David was personable and he had lots of support from the entire staff delivering food at a nice pace and HOT, as it should be. Will definitely return!
Sandra was our amazing server! We loved everything about this restaurant! Food ,drinks, service and Staff were all sensational! Will definitely be returning!!
The breads they brought to start with whipped milk and garlic, assorted olives and Marcona almonds were a perfect starter. We were sticking with tapas and salad so ordered the ham croquettes (crispy and flavorful), the ratatouille (great smoky flavor), the caramelized onion with blue cheese (silky and tasty), the arugula, apple and manchego salad (perfectly balanced) and the fish and chips (so light and crispy). The wine Azul y Garanza Viural was dry and crisp. Dessert was the caramel ice cream - mmm. David our server went above and beyond and made the evening really wonderful. The ambiance was just right. Good music but not intrusive and the room was lively but not too loud. 5 stars!
Otra provides an enjoyable take on Spanish tapas. All the food was well executed. Had the croquetas, bombas and patatas bravas. I tried these benchmark tapas to see how they did with the classics and all hit the mark. Good service at the bar as well with a friendly bartender. I just wish they had a broader option of Spanish red wines by the glass.
Otra is in a great, easy to get to location, with a parking lot adjacent (3 hr validation), and plenty of meter spaces too. The interior is eloquent if spare - not filled with tchotchkes; your table and your food is their focus. There is a large bar as well, with a bartender offering a nice drink menu. Our server was a wonderfully happy and highly compotent fellow; remembered everything, very efficient; ever-present. Incredibly diverse menu with varied tapas, charcuterie & large plates; decent wine list and a very, very good dessert list. The 'Double Chocolate Cake' was one of the best I've had in 40+ years dining out. We hope to return at some point in the future, and bring others (otras) along.
For a place that is newly opened, I was very impressed. The food was spectacular and the service was unbelievably good. The server Dave was beyond professional and handled 10 of our guests to perfection. I never write reviews, literally, but this place needs to be recognized for how great our experience was.
We couldn't be any more excited about OTRA opening. Bacros has been our all time favorite restaurant for more than 7 years... And to hear the same owners were opening a new place, was a dream come true! Not to mention, it's right next door! We had dinner tonight at OTRA. It was during their soft opening and they nailed it. Food was outstanding! The flavors were perfect. As expected, the staff was exceptional, familiar faces, and informative (we had not much experience with spanish/iberian cuisine). We can't wait to go back soon to try more new dishes. We will be spreading the news and bringing foody friends with us next time! Thank you, Chef! You are a Master at what you do! Each dish is made with 100% love. ❤️Joyce & Mark OH... And the tres leches is out of this world! Don't skip dessert when you go.
Absolutely wonderful. The food was unique. Amazing combined flavors. Spanish/tapas...best I've had. What really made it special was the service. Top notch. Everyone from the manager on made a point to check in. Rigo, our waiter, was the best.
Fabulous place! Bartender Mariah took care of us, she was lovely and attentive! Tapas were delicious, drinks were generous. Atmosphere and vibe was relaxed yet very sheik. Would go again.
Amazing, inventive and mouthwateringly delicious food (fish & chips, potato crisp tapas, tenderloin & brie bocadillos, tres leches), fantastic service (Adam et al), elegant yet completely unpretentious space - Otra is one of the best food experiences we've had in a very long while! I'm writing this 5-star review while secretly hoping that it won't be too hard to get a table next time we're in town! Thank you for making a lucky find into an utterly wonderful and memorable experience! Bravo!!
Shayla was my bartender. AMAZING service was provided and I had the best drink I have ever had in my life. Shayla had recomended the tres leches martini, and I have never had something so amazing as this drink. Thank you so much.
Very much enjoyed both the decor and ambiance. Highly recommend having a large group here and taking advantage of the great assortment of appetizers they have. The mixed drinks are always amazing. Excellent service. Looking forward to my next visit.
My second visit... Party of 3 on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us. I'm a big fan of the blood orange Paloma . My friends had the swordfish special and loved it while I had the beef tenderloin special. It was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and the service just like my visit last year was great.
I think the restaurant was good, the only thing was it wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting, the pork belly was good. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was nice.
I was really excited to try this restaurant after seeing the high reviews and the fact that it’s one of the only Spanish tapas restaurants around. I’ll start with the positives. What a beautiful restaurant! The decor and ambience are a 10. The hostess and waiters are LOVELY and knowledgeable and attentive. The less positives. Huge red flag when a restaurant doesn’t post their prices online. I completely agree with previous post from Farrah about the cost relative to portion size. This is by far the most expensive restaurant I’ve visited in RI and most of Boston. The quality of the ingredients is excellent but it’s the flavor that doesn’t ring true. Some things were good but nothing was great. The flavor isn’t authentic Spanish. The paella was particularly disappointing as was my other go-to, the gambas. The drinks were over priced as well for small pours. I would return if the prices decreased or the portions increased, but in either case I hope they find a way to bring more authenticity to the cuisine. It didn’t help our experience that we parked out front and had our car broken into while we dined, which happened to others this night as well. With that said I am still looking forward to trying its sister restaurant, Bacaro. The ambience there looks even more magical, if that’s possible!
Very nice location, pretty restaurant. Service was lacking. Server recommended a wine pairing for our entrée then never brought it nor mentioned it again. He lost $32 off his check total. Some of the small plates were fantastic, others just ok.
Celebrated my birthday here with a group of 10. Food all photographed really pretty but left much to be desired. It just didn't hit, some dishes were quite salty while others were underwhelming. We ordered a bunch of seafood tapas and then each person ordered an entree. The seafood tapas a la plancha were all cooked well but the sauces didn't blow anyone away. I was excited because I just went to Spain/portugal last year and was dying to have a similar meal. We all ordered several cocktails as well which were good enough for $16 each?
This place is about 3.5 stars but I cannot do half stars here! Let’s start with the good: the service is very polite and attentive. There is a lot of attention and care given to people joining. Let’s get into where Otra can improve: The flavors of the food are pretty good, but not outstanding— the flavors seem pretty standard, especially given that there are other tapas locations nearby that are better flavored and valued. Second, the portion sizes for the tapas are laughable at best. Most of these tapas are not meant to be share and seem like they’re meant to be molecular gastronomy sized instead. This is the priciest tapas place for amount of food and is probably stingier than some spots in Boston. For example, we ordered a lamb chop tapa that was so small, it was three bites. It cost 14 dollars! I’m sensitive to the cost of overhead and supply chain constraints but that seemed like an excessive markup to me. Most of their other dishes fell under a “surprisingly small, even for tapas” kind of vibe for me. Otra is a nice place to try but I don’t think I’ll return.
3.5 stars Food was a hit or miss. Half of the food we ordered was great like the potatos and salmon. The ratatouille and paella lacked flavor and were very disappointing. Their menu has way too many items on it for everything to be good. If they had a more condensed menu and focused more on making those dishes flavorful, it would take this place to the next level.
Food was outstanding but that was about the only thing that saved this place. Staff was rude and was unwilling to accommodate a large party even after making a booking but they were very willing to recommend the most expensive wines. They made us over order and wanted us out of the restaurant as fast as possible and we’re handing my guests plastic take out containers while we were in the middle of our meal. The food was good, the service and atmosphere was horrid
My friends and I went there this past weekend..The atmosphere was nice..the restaurant was beautiful..it was clean... though beautifully presented/plated ,I felt the tapas were hit or miss.. we loved some and hated some..i know they areTapas, but the portions were very small for the price...I am a very picky eater and dont eat anything undercooked,so keep in mind that you need to specify how you would like the food cooked..the steak and scallops came out medium..I did send the scallops back(they did replace) and the steak brie sandwich was good but I couldn't eat it because it was served on the rare side..we all felt the squid was rubbery and didnt pair well with the sauce....many of the tapas we had were served on a garlicky creamy thick sauce..they also are no strangers to salt...though the sauce was tastey,we did experience some flavor fatigue from the sauce...they did have some darn good drannnks! As for service..it was ok..our waiter did not check in much to see how we liked the food, or see if wanted another adult beverage.overall it was a fun experience, not sure if I'd go back..but I'd say it's a great spot for a date night or girls night out...
The atmosphere was nice. The service was slow, I was ready to walk out until the lady in the front came and ask if someone came over. Food was good and drinks too.
I am very familiar with foods from Spain. Unfortunately this is more of fusion food and was a hit or miss for me. Ordered Jamon Serrano, which is a staple in Spain and was something specific that I went to the restaurant for. What I got was definitely not Jamon Serrano! Paella was tasteless. Octopus and steak on the other hand were good. Overall service was good, but food just ok.
Atmosphere beautiful but very loud and it wasn’t even busy. Bartender made a nice cosmo and pleasant. Paella was bland no taste Disappointed. Sirloin was all fat. Couldn’t even eat it. Bartender apologized and took it off the bill. A restaurant like that you expect better . You could clearly see it was a poor piece of meat. Who ever the man with all the tattoos is couldn’t be bothered to even acknowledge the bartender or our dissatisfaction. Won’t be returning.
Just coming back from Spain, we have been looking to scratch that itch for good Spanish food and tapas. This wasn’t it. Service was pretty good but the food was lacking in flavor and the wait for drinks was ridiculous (received mine 45 mins after my husband received his drink and we ordered at the same time.) And this was on a Tuesday night. The main reason why I chose this restaurant for my birthday meal was because I saw that they had iberico charcuterie on the menu. Whatever we were served was a far, far cry from what I know as iberico. It was tasteless as was much of the food that was drowned in aioli. Everything was way overpriced for what it was. I understand tapas for some ungodly reason is overpriced anyway here in the States but the portion sizes were smaller than normal. 8 quarter sized pieces of chorizo for $12? Yikes. There was a bright spot though, the baby octopus was the best dish, it was cooked perfectly and was very tender. But $23. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and will not be going back.
The service was impeccable and so were the drinks. The food left a lot to be desired. The paella was watery and tasted solely of tomatoes. The seafood on top was overcooked and gummy there was absolutely no flavor retained in it. For almost $50 I expected a lot more. We tried the foie gras, which was a special of the night, and it was incredibly bitter and unpleasant. The textures were odd, mushy and none of the flavors went together. I feel sad for that duck and sad I paid almost $25 for it. We did not finish the plate, even though it was small. The Bombas and the tres leches cake were good but not worth the tab we paid. Our waiter was absolutely amazing though. He made sure our drinks were always taken care of and took his time explaining the menu if we had questions. I cannot say enough good things about the service. We will probably not be coming back since we go to restaurants for the food. It is a good spot for cocktails if that's what you're looking for.
I hardly ever give poor reviews but the food was so bad I felt the need to warn others. First of all, the ambience is great! The place was really nice and our waitress did a great job in serving us. Coming from someone who has traveled to Spain and experienced all of their great cuisine this is not even close. First of all we had the pulpo tapas which was very small portioned and lacked flavor. We had charcuterie board and while the serrano ham and manchengo were decent, it didnt have any bread or crackers to pair it with. The biggest fail of the night was the paella which we had the valencia. The chicken was very crisp and they gave plenty of little necks but it had a weird marinera sauce I’ve never seen used on any paella I’ve ever had and it lacked flavor. Mediterranean cuisine tends to use plenty of garlic and this place seemed like it didn’t have any at all. I would have given it a 2.5 stars for the service and ambience but my wife and I are foodies and that was a huge a fail!!
Not a good experience. Went there during the Providence restaurant week. The waitress ordered the wrong dishes not only once. I thought it was bucause they were so busy that night. But later I could feel the waitress was impatient. She gave me the feeling that I ordered from the menu only for the restaurant week which was cheaper and we didn't wear good clothes. We waited until the cook got the dishes right and finished the dinner in a hurry since the they were about to close at night. After I paid the bill, the waiter asked me to leave me seat at once even I told him that one of my friends was in the toilet. I invited friends from Boston for this restaurant and they travelled for almost an hour. The food was fine, but the service was not good.
The food was good, but the service was slow and attention to our table felt disregarded. I understand it is fine dining, but tapas should not take hours to come out. We dined in, ordered a lot of food, and purchased two bottles of wine. We also left a 15% tip. After paying, the hostess came out and told us, “In America, 20% is the standard.” Instead of being thanked for our business, we were lectured about tipping. That was insulting and unprofessional. A tip is discretionary, not mandatory, and being made to feel pressured or embarrassed after paying the bill left a very negative impression. The food might have been worth coming back for, but the way we were treated ensures we will not be returning.
The experience was so bad. One of the seafood dish was made poorly and we only tasted one bite and complained. The server returned the dish and still charge us. And at the end said it has nothing wrong. It’s so bad service.
I had a reservation for tonight (Tuesday) for 845. We weren’t greeted at the door for a few mins which is fine. But it wasn’t very busy and I saw 5 employees and we sat at the bar and were never even acknowledged there wasn’t even a bartender present. We waited until 9:01 and we walked out and came down to Bacaro.
It took an hour to bring us just one tapas dish ,and the response to our question about when the rest of the food is coming was very sarcastic. Once it came food tasted real bad. Place has no ambience and is extremely loud.
Overall less than 1 star . Overpriced small drinks. Service was poor and understaffed. We ordered our main entree and approx 40 min later, the waiter came back and told us he had forgotten to put in our food, 50 mins after that we finally got our food. One entree was so hot that could be eaten for at 15 minutes at least. Another entree was supposed to have sausage and chorizo and instead had neither. Refills on water were not offered and often forgot. No apologies for any of the mishaps. Would not return and would certainly not recommend. All of this on a Tuesday night, can’t imagine how it would be on a busier night of the week.
