The food plates were delicious . There's no servers so you have to order up front. The app to order doesn't quite have all the pictures or the menu items from the board. The empanadas had great flavor but were a little overly oiled. Other than that everything tasted really good. Love that they're open late!!
Best Venezuelan food in Houston! The arepas are perfectly made and the empanadas are large and flavorful. The cachapas and tequeños are incredible too. Generous portions, great prices, and friendly staff. Feels just like home — highly recommend!
To begin with, this is the second time the exact same situation has occurred. This time, I personally called, and someone from Sabor Venezolano asked another person — presumably the employee who handled my order — whether they had included the hallaca that I never received, which was the only missing item. I clearly heard the person respond that it had been delivered in a second bag. However, I only received one. Additionally, I was told — verbatim — that “this type of incident happens quite often with delivery drivers,” which is a very questionable response. If this really happens frequently, then as a business, you should take the proper corrective measures, because as a customer, I’m left uncomfortable and stuck in the middle of unnecessary bureaucracy — having to call, report, and request refunds — when all I wanted last night was to peacefully enjoy my dinner with complete and efficient service. In the end, Sabor Venezolano’s recommendation was that I ask the delivery driver directly. When I did, the driver told me he had only received one food bag, not two as Sabor Venezolano had mentioned over the phone. In short, I ended up without my product and without part of my dinner. Unfortunately, situations like this inevitably cause loyal, regular customers like myself to stop ordering. I’ve never had issues with any other restaurants — only with yours. Coincidence? Honestly, I don’t know.
I used to come here and they would deliver a quality product each and every time. This time, I got an arepa. 1st issue is that they took over 10mins to make one arepa. 2nd issue: if u take so long to make, I expect a good arepa. The arepa was hard and crispy. They put barely any cheese in it, and the one I got is literally 2 ingredients, so you would think they would put more. It cost $8.66. The passionfruit juice was overly sour for some reason as well, but I don't know anything about that. I would say stick to arepas, tequenos and tubarrachos if you don't want to be disappointed. I look at their past reviews for last 2 months and it seems the manager with the glasses is dragging this place through the mud. Hope you read this and realize the lower your rating gets, the less likely your business shows up on a Google search. Which in time will kill your profits.
The food here has always been consistent and tasty. The seafood empanadas were surprisingly exceptional! Service is improving and still has room for improvement. Definitely better than some of my previous experiences have been. Plenty of seating available inside. Easy parking in the area provided.
Placed an order through GrubHub, wanting authentic Venezuelan food: 2 arepas llaneras (23) 2 reina pepiadas (19) 1 mondongo soup ($20) 1 side of guava tequeños (8.50) 2 Soursop juice 16 oz (12) 1 bistec encebollado Total $112 before taxes, etc. The arepas, and the soup, especially the soup were SO GREASY 😵💫 I could use the grease to cook for an entire MONTH! The juice… 🤦🏼♀️ oh Lord! Noooo milk! Quién in their right mind drinks soursop juice with NO milk!? The rice was basmati and tasted weird, and the meat was full of chunks of fat. The soup was just as plain as a PBJ sandwich 😵💫 I’m questioning if they’re actually Venezuelan, because it simply lack ANY taste AND flavor!! First and LAST time ordering here. I’ve visited other Venezuelan restaurants in the area, where the portions are BIGGER, TASTIER (to die for!!!), and NEVER this pricey! Even if I had ordered directly from them, it’d have not been worth the price!
The food here used to be better, the service is not the best, I think the quality has decrease over time, I came here expecting more. The empanada was not crispy at all, was more like eating a fried arepa with a tasteless cheese. The “café con leche” barely had any coffee in it. The service was not bad, they were not unpolite. However, I think the establishment can be a little bit cleaner. Hope they can enhance the quality of the food, it used to be so good! It is sad
Very bad service, throwing our drinks PLUS they didn’t give us the right drinks…food was mid too. The cashier was on her phone the WHOLE time. There was food on the seats and tables too they were also sticky. If you’re trying to go to a Venezuelan restaurant avoid this place asap i think i got food poisoning. The cashier was blonde with glasses she gave us a very bad service
I order here frequently and I usually ask for more sauce for my empanadas, I ordered 3 of them and I got only 4 tiny cups and it wasn’t even full, I asked the cashier nicely if I could get more and she told me “that’s the sauce we give out” so I’m very disappointed. I was abt to ask if I could at least pay for more sauce but she left.
Hace placed multiple orders through DoorDash and keep getting the entire order wrong. If it’s not the incorrect flavor, it’s missing items or missing drinks. READ orders before you fulfill, if you don’t have the item have the decency of calling the customer or canceling. Would give 0 stars if possible!!
It's awful that they have to resort to deception to sell. They change their name on the Uber app and call themselves "Homemade Soups." If they put the same effort into improving, they certainly wouldn't have to resort to trying to survive.
I specifically asked for a normal hot dog without any cheese, and then they proceeded to give me one with cheese. I bite into it and it was really bad, the sausage was very small for the big bread
I don’t normally do bad reviews but oh my gosh….ordered a tres leches slice today and it came SPOILED! Straight up tasted like wet towel and mildew. Absolutely disgusting!
UPDATE- the owner replied and only commented at the salsa and saying it’s spicy when I know it’s not . I know what spicy is he never said anything abt the tacos this is crazy I most definitely will be calling the health department and whatever food corporate on them trust me yall will be dealt with because this is unexceptionable and I will not tolerate the disrespect from the owner . And I see he does this to everyone that leaves a review this is bad business Customer service was okay they don’t speak English so had a hard time ordering. I got beef fajita tacos and I can say this is not beef fajita the meat is huge and had a lot of fat . Doesn’t taste like street tacos at all . The green salsa wasn’t even spicy it tasted like nothing overall 0/10 very disappointed and hate I wasted my hard earned money on this .
Used to be great but gradually they’ve started to increase the prices and quality diminished until it’s no longer worth coming back. Arepas are smaller and smaller each time we come and today they are so thin that they’re breaking apart and the filling so sloppy cut and thrown in there with no care, all this while price increases. What a shame for this Venezuelan arepas.
Very disappointing. I was so happy to see a new place listed in UberEats, and know from past experience that Venezuelan food is quite good, but this was a disappointment. The guacamole (pictured) looked and tasted exactly like the awful packaged stuff you can get at the supermarket, and not something they even made, and the fact that the owner responded to this review and didn't deny it is troubling. (I ordered two of them and I barely even ate one, it was so nasty.) The dishes I got were decent, but nothing stood out. Their platanos maduros, however, were very tasty. The soup was good. The beef dishes were sub-par. What's most striking is that all the bad reviews are exactly the same, with people talking about how food was reheated and clearly not fresh, etc., and all the responses from the owner are the same: attitude and horrible customer service. Stay away from this place.
Very dissatisfied with my order today. I ordered two Chichas which used to be individual sizes, but today they gave me the “queen” size, which is gigantic and I have to prepare myself. If the person taking my order would’ve told me about this, I would’ve reconsider my order, but he didn’t bother. In addition, I requested my receipt twice in the Restaurant and the employee kept insisting it was inside my bag. When I got home, the receipt was not in my bag. I had to call and request for the employee to e-mail it to me… Food quality? used to be good, but now it seems as if the food quality is not a priority. My táqueños were frozen in the middle. Empanas and Reina pepiada were good. But highly disappointed with everything else. This place used to be a fave… lol
