Moving back to the states after spending 4 years in Japan I've been looking to scratch an itch. Getting ramen after spending time in Japan has until now been a rather disappointing experience. Most people have no idea what good ramen even is. The most important part of a good tonkatsu ramen is the broth it must be thick, creamy, and coat your mouth with the consummated pork fat that is full of flavor. They got it, I could complain about it just not being the same as the ramen in Japan or not fully authentic but that honestly doesn't matter it's delicious and checks all my boxes for a good tonkatsu broth. The noodles were good, I saw a review before coming here comparing them to spaghetti noodles and I'm not sure what kind of spaghetti noodles this person is eating because these are very obviously an egg based noodle and not a spaghetti noodles by any sense. The chasu was delicious it's kind of hard to mess up pork belly but I've seen it done. Overall I have no complaints about my ramen after being consistently disappointed trying to find some half decent tonkatsu ramen on this side of the Pacific. I had a chasu bao as well it wasn't a traditional bao by any means and was served like a taco but that was also phenomenal and tasted delicious. The service was quick easy and friendly. The food got to us quickly and the whole place was clean with a slick hip vibe. Looks like they have yakiniku here as well and judging by the quality of their other food I'm sure it doesn't disappoint. I would love to come back but unfortunately I live up north. The photos of the ramen may not look the most pretty because I decided to take a photo after we started eating. On the left is the garlic shrimp ramen and on the right is the black garlic ramen. There is also a photo of the chasu bao.
The food was great! The ramen though... amazing. I can't tell who has better ramen Sosogu or Saku Ramen in DT Riverside.. I'll go with Sosogu because they let me adjust what I wanted in my ramen. Definitely coming back! Also tried the bbq selected meats very tasty and they have their sauces that ate just.... too good!
One of the best black garlic ramens I've ever had the pleasure of eating! Highly recommend this ramen if you're a garlic fanatic. The portion is huge and fair for the price! Not only that, the rotating cocktail drinks are delicious (some nights, they could be mixed with a heavy hand.. no complaints though). The pork rice bowl + pork chashu buns were awesome too. Price was fair, service was great, and the vibes were chill. I'd love to come back and try the BBQ next time!
Our favorite Ramen restaurant! Food is excellent, especially the Soso Spicy Miso(of which we ask if we can substitute for tufo), Smoked brisket Shou, and Creamy Tonkotsu. Prices are reasonable. On top of the Ramens, we also order the sticky Chicken Kaarage and tempura Shrimp. We always keep coming here for our Ramen cravings. Staff is exceptional especially James, always accommodating, another nice part of the restaurant, it is dog friendly!
This is good spot for some ramen and Japanese BBQ. The serving sizes for the ramen is perfect, not to much and not to little. The Brisket Ramen is great but it does have big pieces of mushrooms. The garlic shrimp is amazing and the broth is the best with the shrimp. Will be going back again to try the BBQ.
"It's So So Good!" is what we were saying after we ate Sosogu Ramen and Japanese BBQ in Redlands California! The ramen noodle here is freshly made-thick or thin style-and the variety of ramen is terrific! We had the brisket ramen, and their vegetarian ramen along with their garlic noodle ramen appetizer and they were soo soo tasty! The server we had was very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is open concept design, airy, sparkling clean and upbeat. They also have Japanese BBQ and a full beverage bar. We had a great experience at Sosogu Ramen & Japanese BBQ Restaurant ! . . . . #ramen #sosoguramenandjapanesebbq #redlands #japanesebbq #seetheusa #foodphotography #ramenphotography #iloveramen #ilovenoodles #noodles #sosogu
Visit with my son & his girlfriend went beyond my expectations. Starting with being there before the lunch rush. Veggie Gyoza is crispy, not soggy at all. Smoked brisket bao & crispy chicken bao or the other bao choices could be the main event of any visit. Slurped through almost my entire bowl of Soso Spicy Miso ramen. While they enjoyed their Creamy Tonkatsu & Smoked Brisket Shoyu ramen dishes. Finally, I made it out to Sosogu. Even if it was just for lunch before work. The Beef Truffle Oil is the current special which I had today with hot tea. When I have more time. I'll get the signature ramen dishes. Music was a little loud for lunch. But the location is right next to the metro tracks & orange ave is a busy road. The interior has a nic, clean, minimalist touch. Perfect launching or landing pad for day trips if you use the metro. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Yummy! Second visit but seemed so much better than the first time. There were four of us and we all had various ramen options which everyone of us thought were tasty and delicious. Great veggie ramen with Gyoza is what I had. Also tried the corn side which was their version of an ellote. The best part about the corn was the tempura crunch added to the other flavors. Definitely worth a try!
My wife found this place called SOSOGU on Tik Tok. And what a gem she found!!! This place is truly unique and a fun and awesome time! Nichole really took care of us. She was such a pleasure to be around and we can tell she really takes pride in making sure everyone who comes here has an enjoyable experience. And my wife had fun cooking the meat for our plates! The drinks were phenomenal, the service was excellent, the food was of great quality and there was a nice view of Redlands outside. The menu had a great selection and there’s even Ramen here. We will definitely be back for that! All in all this place is definitely a 10 out of 10! You will not be disappointed!
First time here, came for lunch. We ordered the spicy cucumbers to start. Oh my goodness! Fantastic! We also ordered the chicken yuzu and the white miso garlic shrimp. Again, fantastic, the broth in the white miso was flavorful, vegetables were perfect. And the noodles were done to perfection. Oh and the green tea was delicious. The person who was working the floor did a great job. She was alone and doing the job of 3. Great service, We are DEFINITELY coming back.
Sosogu is So So Delicious. The customer service is excellent as well. Bethany played an important role in why I will be back to support the business. Dr. B
Honestly, great ramen. I'm glad that they do sell alcoholic. Because some of that fried food with a beer. Oh, my God is so good. After trying several of their ramens, they're great. All of them. My favorite was the tonkatsu. However, the other ramens are still really great
Amazing experience from start to finish! My wife first came here with one of her girlfriends for her birthday and they shared the SoSo Guud Japanese BBQ set for two—she couldn’t stop talking about how absolutely fabulous and delicious it was, so we had to come back together! We both ordered the dragonfruit lemonade, which was incredible—perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and super refreshing. The starter cabbage salad was phenomenal and honestly had the best sesame dressing I’ve ever had. The clear veggie soup was also amazing, and the chef even came out to offer us a fresh cup from a new batch he had just made—such a thoughtful touch! For meats, we chose the garlic shoyu skirt steak, short rib (kalbi), and shaved ribeye, and every single one was outstanding. Highly recommend all three. Cooking our own food made the meal so fun and interactive, and everything about this place made for a truly memorable experience. Can’t wait to come back!
First time hearing of a brisket ramen. Absolutely superb! So were the spicy(ish) tuna on wonton crackers and the pear martini if I remember right. Glad to see some creative differences with the ramen dishes and sides compared to standard offerings at in my experience. Server was friendly too.
Fast, friendly service. Good food! About $60 for two people with two ramens and two baos.
Mmmmmm good. Signature dishes like Spicy Miso Ramen, Creamy Tonkotsu, Tru Black Garlic, and Smoked Brisket Shoyu repeatedly garner praise for their rich broths, chewy handmade noodles, and generous toppings. Unique to Sosogu are BBQ grills embedded at the bar, allowing diners to cook meats, mushrooms, and veggies to their liking. Sauce options include mayo-based, sweet soy sesame, and spicy ponzu. For ramen lovers of hands‑on dining, or anyone looking for something a little different in Redlands, Sosogu is a culinary gem well worth a visit.
Now I understand why the salted egg is so important! It was absolutly delicious. I got the tonkotsu ramen. 10/10. Noodles had a nice bounce to them and the broth was deep and rich.
I absolutely love this place! It was my first time coming here. The customer service was exceptional. I was greeted with friendly, smiling faces and kindness. I was seated quickly and our waiters were amazing! The food was delicious and it was so much fun grilling. The drinks were so yummy. I highly recommend the pink dragon fruit martini. Overall it was a great experience and I will be returning.
Sye the cook needs a raise. This dude makes a hundred bowls of ramen a day and they’re always so good. Consistency is key here. 5 stars all around.
Lovely ramen place in downtown Redlands! Great walkable area and right next to the train station. I had a standard tonkotsu ramen and it was nice, filling, and rich! Definitely would come again, and they have Japanese barbecue so definitely curious in trying that.
We went to eat SosoGu Ramen & Japanese BBQ an hour before they closed on a Monday. They were extremely busy, but we got one of the last opens spots. Even though they were extremely busy, the food came out fast and the food was delicious. The barbecue was a little bit pricey, so I got the beef rice bowl, which was very tasty. The bowl is made with high quality ingredients. There is a spice bomb in the rice bowl that you will want to watch out because it super spicy. Other than that all the food was great and the servers were all very nice. I will definitely be back to try some ramen and the barbecue.
My favorite place to get ramen in Redlands, hands down. The creamy tonkotsu is my go to order, and it’s full of flavor. The pork belly is super tender and delicious. I also really love the metal cups they have - your drink stays colder longer and the ice doesn’t melt! If you’re spending an evening downtown, I’d definitely recommend stopping by.
The Good: The price considering the locality, is very affordable. The small bites were delicious. The bao was excellent. The ramen was very flavorful. Small bites have small portions (as expected) Ramen easily is two servings. To Improve: There were just two staff to handle the crowd. They take orders and looks like make the drink orders as well. Putting a hand up or waving or a soft “excuse me” was ignored. Order with sequence and ur good. Final: The food is great. Can be a regular here.
Had to come back to this hidden gem!!! Worth the drive!!!! Their ramen is soooo delicious!!! By myself I could not finish the entire bowl but if I split it with my husband, we leave no drops!! We had the Smoked Brisket Shoyu this time. So yummy!! I had told my husband about the Spicy Tuna* on Crispy Wontons that I just kept describing as one of our favorite bites from when we started dating decades ago!! I wanted to order about 10 orders of these delicious Spicy tuna wontons!!!! We definitely will be back for those sooner than later!!
The staff was amazing and very helpful in choosing the perfect Raman! The spicy tan tan was rich and full of flavor!!! Did an add on of the smoked brisket and it did not disappoint!!
Ordered the Smoked Brisket Shoyu Ramen. The only complaint I have is that I wish I had a little bit more in terms of portion size. With that said, the dish itself was great. The brisket was flavorful, and the smoke was perfect. The broth was hot and full of classic shoyu flavor, and a nice touch of the smokiness from the brisket took it up a notch. The noodles were different but in a good way. They were not overcooked and had a very nice chew to them. I'm definitely going back to try the tonkotsu!
I liked the layout of the restaurant, which was unique to me. The food was so delicious, I forgot to get a photo of the ramen! The Filet Shoyu Ramen with truffle oil and medium rare filet mignon made such a savory flavor that thoroughly satisfies. It's not creamy or spicy, and it's a good choice for those who are averse to pork based broths. We also ordered bao buns that were almost made like tacos. Those were VERY flavorful! Highly recommend them. Finally, I must mention that the staff were SO friendly and helpful with our decisions on what to eat. Loved this place overall and would come again!

Very yummy the Smoked Brisket Ramen was amazing and the meat was perfectly tender. Amazing service, for sure coming back!
Everything I've had here is really good. Especially their ramen! Haven't tried the Korean barbecue yet but am dying to try it. It would be great to have a group of friends or family sit around one of the tables and do a Korean barbecue. The food is really good! Sometimes the service is a bit slow as they get busy. But definitely a place to stop and eat in Redlands!
The garlic noodles were my favorite! I also tried the chicken karaage and had the chicken yuzu. I will definitely be going back to try more items from their menu! The music and atmosphere inside the restaurant were great! Our server Stephanie and all of their staff were also amazing!

Are you looking for a place with good ramen at a reasonable price and a good portion size? Go and check out Sosogu Ramen. Fairly new restaurant, the staff was nice, takes a little bit to get their attention but overall they are pretty nice and knowledgeable of the menu, food is pretty good. The only thing I would say is that getting items already marinated for the Japanese grill section was a bit salty. And the whiskey flight isn't for the weak!
I came here for the first time and thought it was pretty good. I tried the sticky karaage rice bowl, spicy cucumbers, and shaved brisket bao. I wished there was a little more to the bowl other than a ton of rice, a little chicken, and some pickled carrots. The flavor was good, but it was a little boring. I would have liked more chicken and some veggies or something. The bao was pretty good.
I think I found my new local ramen spot, the noodles are superb and made fresh there daily. Pictured is a creamy tonkatsu, and a spicy miso. There is also Japanese street corn, shrimp tempura, and a side of a spicy bomb. First and most importantly in my opinion is the broth of our ramen came out hot! I've gone to several other spots where the broth is lukewarm and unsatisfying. I came to eat hot/ steaming soup, and they gave me exactly that. The spicy miso has the right level of spice, but feel free to order that side of spicy bomb to give yourself more of that heat. Another thing I was happy about is that it already came with half an egg vs ordering it on the side. The street corn tasted delicious, it tastes like a bite of corn with sushi toppings. They also have a Japanese bbq side, which we will try next time. All in all we left here very satisfied. Update 5/2023 We've tried the bbq side, and it's Delicious, make sure to grab the assorted mushrooms 👌 so good. Also we tried the Japanese tequila sampler, very delightful and I've added the pic of which are the 3. 6/2023 Tried the Spicy tuna Wontons and OMG yum, if you love sushi and wontons I've added a photo.
I have been to this restaurant plenty occasions since they first opened, and I never had any issues. Until I came tonight. Being a Saturday night, it wasn't too busy. The white rice was really dry and hard like it had been sitting in the cooker all day. The garlic noodles were really hard. The meat was cooked, but the quality was really stringy and almost choked. Had to ask for plates and sauce trays. We didn't have an option of ordering from the server, as it was automated phone ordering through the online menu. I'm really upset with the food and service. As much as I used to love coming here, it will be our last.
I ordered take out and the food was good but my order was missing corn, bean sprouts, and the chili bomb. keep in mind I paid an extra for these items. If im paying this much I expect those topping to be there. I tried calling the store multiple times with no answer. F on customer service. Ill be disputing this charge.
Ordered the brisket ramen to go. I did not see an option for spicy when ordering and was also not given any spices or condiments in my to go bag. Brisket was delicious but it was not enough to impact the flavor of the ramen entirely.
They definitely need more staffs. The food was good, but the waiting was way too long. There were so many empty tables but they didn’t have enough people to clean and to take care of uber eats/doordash… and the table wasn’t very clean.
Food was ok.I've been to few Ramen houses, taste are like the same.Restaurant cleanliness to me is a priority, this one in cleanliness ,i rate it as a 2

Mediocre to say the very least. It's been a while since I've walked into a restaurant and felt immediately out of place. I really wasn't sure why a tip had to be paid before continuing transactions. Especially since no one served us, or checked to see if we were enjoying our food, which by the way for the price, I could have went to Benny Hannah's and had a better experience for that buck. Either way, my wife and I were disappointed in this entire experience.
Not a great experience. The Coke Zero tasted extremely watered down.. might've been low on syrup? The Tru Black Garlic ramen didn't taste garlic-y at all. It tasted overwhelmingly of mushrooms which was a huge disappointment. On the flip side, the char siu they serve with the ramen was delicious, and so was the char siu bun. One of the employees said she made a mistake with our beer order and replaced it with the correct one, and took the other one back to the bar. She then asked us if we wanted the mistaken order. We said yes, assuming it would be free since she offered, but... she added it to our bill. Probably our fault for not clarifying, but why offer it then? If we wanted another beer we would have ordered it ourselves.
UPDATE: I just stopped in for lunch, waited for 5 minutes at the counter there were only two other customers and no one said a word to me, they were too busy taking photos for their social media. Definitely won't be back. Delicious ramen and chashu, high quality ingredients for a fair price. The ramen with the brisket was particularly delicious. Service was good. Plenty of seating, plenty of nearby parking, service was good, bathrooms were clean.

First (and last) time going here. Walked in and stood awkwardly at the front, wondering if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for a host. We waited about 5 minutes and asked a server if we should seat ourselves. Server responded (direct quote): “give us a few minutes, man…” After another few minutes, someone from behind the bar greeted us and pointed to a booth, handing us menus so we could seat ourselves. Server walked by us a few times before acknowledging us. When I asked for a drink recommendation, his response was, “we’re all right here in the present, right now…” Huh?? No substitutions available on the menu for those with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) My wife’s meal came out before mine (I’m fine with that), but it was literally put on the table from a different server who didn’t say a word and then walked away. No acknowledgment of me or a “yours is finishing up and we’ll get it to you shortly” or anything of the sort. Food was fine. Tasty, but not particularly noteworthy. Our server did check in on us exactly once during the meal, asking how things were as he was walking by. To his credit, he did slow down ever so slightly while he walked by, but I wasn’t convinced he would have heard an answer if I did have something else I wanted. When the bill came, it was a “pay at the table” machine, and he stood there waving his hand impatiently (the whole “give me my toy back” vibe). A completely bizarre experience. I legit wonder if our server was high. We were looking for a romantic dinner for date night, but at least we got a bonding experience instead that we will laugh about and never repeat again. —-UPDATE—- I have tried emailing the address provided by the owner in their reply several times and the inbox appears to be dead. Google tries resending over and over but the message never gets through. Tried to honor their request for more feedback but unfortunately their systems don’t seem set up for that at this time.
Terrible experience, I’m never coming back. We arrived at the restaurant and, even though there were clearly visible dirty but available tables, they made us wait over an hour to be seated. I asked several times and the answer was always “almost ready.” Finally, I asked the waitress directly how much longer and she told me “about 15 minutes because I have to clean the table.” Guess what? She never cleaned anything. I saw her chatting with her coworkers the whole time while we stood there waiting like idiots. In the end, we left without eating because it was too much. The service is nonexistent, there’s a total lack of organization and respect for the customer. I don’t recommend it at all if you’re hungry or in a hurry (or even if you’re not in a hurry, honestly).
