At 12 dollars a meal and 2 dollars a drink. You got yourself a real good deal. Their food is so tasty and fast served that it is amazing how fresh it tastes. This place is a true gem foun at the intersection of Torrance Blvd and Proapect. Plenty of parking is available and it has a wheelchair accessible entrance. The inside is supper casual but good. I keep going back for more. I will recommend this place to anyone.
Boring to eat fried chicken....this is the second choice meal... steamed hainam chicken. This Restaurant try to make express meal like kfc or other similar. And it's fast serving too. That make me surprise. After i paid in just a few minutes not more than 10. The register girl call me." Your food its ready " i said in my mind whoooa. Taste good and a lot (for asian stomach), price reasonable.
Wow, Explosion of flavor! Do not be fooled by the seemingly plain boiled chicken and cream colored white rice. Such a tasteful dish easily to be missed like a surprising story behind a boring book cover, or realizing a beautiful girl behind her nerdy glasses and mundane clothes, this classic dish has crazy flavor behinds its plain exterior.
Small place in the corner next to Chicken Maison. First time here & the restaurant only had one customer when we were there. We were kinda in doubt when we placed our order. But hey, it turned out the chicken was soo tender, the rice was perfectly cooked & the sauce complimented everything. No regret. We’re glad we tried out this restaurant.
I’m sitting here with my sister devouring the original and crispy Hainanese chicken and downing the delicious soup! The first bite reminded me of the Hainanese chicken I had in Singapore. The chicken is moist and the sauces, they are bursting with flavor. Each bite is like a party in your mouth. They also give you slices of cucumbers, the largest cucumber slices we have ever encountered. This will easily become a place we will frequent often. The gentleman taking our order was super helpful and can I just take a moment to rave about the kitchen? One of the cleanest kitchens I’ve ever seen. Don’t miss out on the soup too! Huge food portions and another super win for a mom & pop restaurant! It’s great to be able to support a community restaurant while reaping their delicious rewards!!
Really good Hainan chicken! Went here for the first time on a Friday evening. Its located in a small strip mall with parking available right outside. There's plenty of seating inside and one orders the food at the counter and finds their own seats. The menu is pretty simple with appetizers, either original Hainan chicken, fried or half half and drinks. There's also a chicken soup available too. The chicken is served with sauce on the side and comes with miso soup, rice and a bed of cabbage slaw. All in all, I'll probably be back here again to serve by crave.
First time here: Ordered the Original chicken plate that comes with rice and sauces, and the fried dumplings. Everything was very good, flavorful and the portion was larger than I expected 👍🏼 My favorite part about the meal was that it tasted homemade. The menu is simple. Definitely coming back!
Really good food, and prices. So happy to find a good noodle place, with very large portions, that’s not just ramen!
Food was beyond amazing, had the chance to try the Zab Chicken & it was one of the best experiences of chicken i’ve ever tasted. No lie. Highly recommend the Zab Spicy Chicken if you enjoy the spice but the original chicken with the 2 sauces they provide are just as tasty as the zab! Great staff & very quick to serve as well!
Taishi fried chicken is the truth. It's so good. The chicken is delicious and a perfect seasoning / moisture each time. The garlic rice is incredible. I love just dumping both sauces on everything and diving in, cause the combo of all the flavors is such a win. I only get takeout from here, and they're so quick. I'll call and they say 5-10 minutes, so I only need to hang up the phone and get in my car right away to pick up the food. The portions are big. A great post-workout single meal, or can be 2 meals if I'm not as hungry when I order.
Great local gem tucked into a small strip mall at Torrance and Prospect. When the previous restaurant in this location closed it was a sad day because the lady who ran that place was an artist and a master. What a pleasant surprise to have another great spot in the same place. Taishi Hainan has continuously expanded the menu with new flavors, dishes, noodles, and even boba teas. The original and friend chicken are both amazing.. the friend is perfectly crispy and very tender while the steamed chicken has subtle flavor and perfect texture. Use a little less sauce to let the flavor shine through. The garlic dumplings and chicken soup are also next level. Plus they are open LATE.. nothing good here is open late.. so that is awesome. The food comes out quickly and hot, and the prices are totally reasonable, quality is high and portions generous.
I’ve ordered out a few times and the food has always been great! This last visit I ate here in person and the service was great! The kind lady who took our order and brought all our food to the table was nice and very helpful. They have free chicken broth if you eat inside and it’s very good. My wife always gets the half and half plate and I get the smoked teriyaki. The sauces are so good and they really make a difference. They have never gotten my order wrong and are always nice and accommodate my substitutions when I ask. Thank you guys for the great food!
Small sit down , a lot of take out . Choices of either steamed or fried chicken . Both very tender . The rice very good . As t the suggestion of the the person at the counter taking our orders , for 6; he suggested we order the family meal , which had half and half of each kind . Different sauces, sweet, spicy , and choices of chicken broth soup or herbal broth. We ordered both . Several types of sweet teas. All very reasonably priced !! Very pleased with service , food .
This was my first time having Hainan chicken and it was amazing, truly delicious. The staff was friendly but the service was incredibly fast. The Boba was decent, but the chicken was the true prize here which was phenomenal. The broth was delicious as well. If you have never had Hainan chicken or enjoy it Taishi Hainan chicken is a great place to check out. I'll definitely be back for more
This is one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had. The value is great and the portion is massive. The dining area is clean and service is very nice. We had both the fried and non-friend chicken dish, and they were tender and came with delicious sauces. Would highly recommend!
Great experience. Staff and customers service is spot on. The coral reef lemonade with boba is fantastic. The chicken with sauce is amazing. Will be coming back. Thank you for great service. 8/30/24 The upgrade front and seating is beautiful. The funny chicken pictures are the awesome. Food is always bomb as always. The sauce is what makes the place good!
06.11.2024: Stopped by for lunch and love their new decor paying homage to world cultural festivals. Today I ordered the Crispy Teriyaki Salad... so simple, yet so delicious and satisfying. I'm a fan of this restaurant and need to remember to come more often, as I need to try their other menu options. Also, service was excellent and I appreciate their using reusable plates and utencils. I raise my review to 5 stars... ⭐️ = Food ⭐️ = Parking ⭐️ = Cleanliness ⭐️ = Service ⭐️ = Sustainability
This simple Taishi Hainan Chicken restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience. The tender, poached chicken is impeccably cooked, and the accompanying fragrant rice is a perfect match. The ginger and chili sauces add a zesty kick to each bite. The restaurant's attention to detail in preserving the authenticity of Hainanese cuisine is commendable. A must-visit for chicken enthusiasts looking for a taste of Southeast Asia.

Very niche. There are not a lot of Hainan chicken places out there. The atmosphere is chill and artsy. There are photos of a chicken wearing different outfits with a different backgrounds representing their country. The food portion was very generous for the price. They also serve Herbal soup. It's amazing. Overall chill experience. A must try!

So glad I finally found a great hainese chicken place near my area! The best part is that it is also a thai chinese hainese chicken place, and it honestly makes me so happy since I grew up eating chicken over rice thai style most of my life. Their menu is limited but honestly it helps when you're not the best at narrowing down your options. I decided to get the fried chicken plate along with the free herbal chicken soup for checking in #protip. I have to say I enjoyed every bite from the soothing soup to the garlicky rice to the moist tender chicken to the flavorful sauces! They have amazing variety in their sauces but my favorite was definitely the classic thai hainese sauce. There wasn't anything that I didn't enjoy about the dish. It was definitely one of the best hainese chicken dishes I have had and is on par with my mom's own hainese chicken. ! Service ! The service was super fast and prompt, and we were quickly greeted immediately as soon as we walked through the door. The person who took our order was especially nice, since he accomadated my order of extra garlic in my rice and additional sauces. !Price Point! Initially I thought the price was a bit on the expensive side for $13, but was I wrong! The portions were big enough for at least 2 people with heaps of chicken. The only downside was the rice to chicken ratio since there was sooo much chicken. !Ambiance! A great place to grab a quick sit down bite. It's set up where you order and pick up your food, similar to that of a food court. !TLDR! Definitely an amazing place to come grab delicious thai style hainese chicken. The service was great, the food was amazing, what more can you ask for.
After an exhilarating go-karting session, our group of four headed to Taishi Hainan Chicken and were pleasantly surprised by the Hainan Chicken Rice XXL Family Tray Meal. The ORIGINAL HAINAN CHICKEN RICE was a delightful symphony of flavors. The steamed chicken, infused with herbs, paired perfectly with the garlic ginger rice. The spicy garlic ginger sauce and sweet sesame sauce added layers of taste that elevated the dish. The HERBAL CHICKEN SOUP was equally satisfying. A classic recipe with 5 herbs, shiitake mushrooms, and garlic, it was a warm hug in a bowl. The option to turn it into a Spicy Tom Yum flavored soup was a creative touch. What's more, the portions were generous, and the pricing was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. From the flavors to the service, Taishi Hainan Chicken hit the mark.
Love Taishi Hainan Chicken. Usually get their Steam Hainan full of flavor and Big Volume. Their chicken soup is so warm and healing. Had their white broth Ramen and soup taste is bland but still chicken was juicy. At least it is fixable by adding Sriracha and stuff. Also bland is good when you are not feeling great and don't have appetite the white one is go to. It like chicken soup for cold but in a Ramen version. The Black broth, I had a sip, had more pepper like flavor. Definitely give them a try!
So I thought the mixed chicken was yummy and everything was about right. Right portions and flavors. The boba was good flavor but the boba itself was mushy liken pudding. The rice was a little mushy too. I think I'll be back, it's got great choices and a lot to go for. But let me say the pho was average. Nothing amazing. Great prices for the food I my though. I'm not a big fan of whatever happening with the design. I can't tell if it's all Asian countries or just a few. It's like korean, Japanese, Chinese and a little Vietnamese for spice.
Taishi Hainan Chicken was pretty good! The flavors were tasty and I enjoyed the dish overall. The chicken was a little drier than I expected, but hopefully next time it will be a bit more moist and tender. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying the fried version too. Excited to see how it compares!
It is a simple restaurant that you can take out or eat in. Order at the counter and get your number, wait for the food. Soup is really good, and their ginger sauce is the best in the LA county. Fried chicken or steamed chicken with the rice, each order is $12. Everything comes in the boxes. The portion is okay compared to the price.
Over all experience is "all right". Its nice little corner to serve Chicken over Rice. You have two choices: Steam or Fried. Personally I will give a (3) Stars, but its unfair for this place. Because the food is not that bad. Just, its not "Hainan" Chicken as expected. However, its good quick bite for a chicken rice. "Hainan" chicken suppose be very tender and juicy due to the way it prepared and cook. I don't taste that from it.
Quick fast place to order take out. First time there. Ordered the hainan chicken rice. The chicken not to dry, the spicy sauce is good. Personally just don’t like the other sauce they gave. Big portion, great price. Will try the soup and the fried chicken next time.
Hainan style chicken and rice. Don't expect to find anything more. It is a chicken restaurant that serves pretty darn good poached and fried chicken at fair price. The accompanying sauces are delicious, the rice is flavored, the spring rolls were perfectly fried and service was friendly and happy. We ordered almost everything except for the dumplings. The chicken soup was a salt bomb but oh so good. oh...and the no MSG claim seems legit--no aftermath headaches here. For Taishi management consideration: put the to-go food in to-go containers. Eat-in food in eat-in plates/bowls. The food was served in to-go paper boxes that were too tall, too uncomfortable, too difficult and just not ideal. We would've had a better experience by eating our delicious food in a more "easy to access" and "mix around" situation. Plus, it would make even prettier photos for patrons Yelp/Instas reviews!

Hainan chicken sauces were good, I especially enjoyed the rice. Must be difficult for restaurants to survive these days. I like restaurants like these that focus on the food instead of the decor.
One of my favorite dishes in Thailand is Zaap fried chicken. When I saw this on the menu I was very excited to try it. Unfortunately it missed the mark. The amount of culantro and red onion was sparse, and there was simply not enough sauce to make it feel like true Zaap flavor.

Ordered the Hainan chicken rice recently and the chicken was very dry. I think it used to be better a few years ago unless I am misremembering.
Ordered online their original hainan chicken rice. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry and tasted old. Their (brown?) rice was mushy and not fluffy. Their sauces were disappointing with no fresh ginger or chili included. I'm used to having it along with broth but it didn't even come with that. My go to spot is Heng Heng Chicken Rice 2 but since they're closed from December 22-24, I thought I'd give this place a try. And it was more expensive here $17.66 than Heng Heng's $14.50 I don't think I'll order from here again unless the quality improves.
Not a traditional Hainan chicken place. Fried Hainan was all right but didn't have that Hainan chicken taste. Sorta just tasted like fried katsu or karage. Complimentary chicken broth was very odd. Tasted like they pour dishwater into chicken noodle soup. Did not enjoy that at all. Chicken pho was decent? Tasted like mid pho broth combined with chicken stock so it's passable.

This is the worst Hainan chicken I ever had. Meat is extremely dry, sauce is completely wrong. I understand they removed the chicken skin to appease the customers who have never been exposed to real Asian food, but the skin steamed well provides richness to the meat, which in an essential part of the Hainan chicken
I just took my guests from out-of State here because Google said it's Thai food, but none of the options are any I've heard of at other Thai restaurants. The girl at the counter hardly spoke any English and couldn't answer any of our questions including whether they have any gluten-free options for my GF cousin. She didn't even know what gluten-free means. To make it worse, after we placed our order and were ready to pay, I showed a coupon I had through my employees club for this specific restaurant, and she said, "sorry, we don't accept coupons anymore." We left at that point and went to a real Thai restaurant with people who can speak English and answer sinple questions.
I ordered a pho chicken soup to go during my lunch break since I was in a rush to get back to work. When I returned and opened my meal, I discovered they had given me the wrong order — chicken rice, which I don’t like. It was very disappointing and a waste of my limited time. I called to inform the lady at the restaurant, but she simply said “okay, bye” without even apologizing. This was frustrating, especially since I’ve eaten here before and usually enjoy the food. Considering it wasn’t even busy and I only ordered one item, I expected more attention to detail. Mistakes like this really make the experience unpleasant.
Don't come here. This is the WORST Hainan Chicken I have ever had. I feel catfished by the restaurant name. Instead, this place should be called "boiled dry chicken". As someone who has had authentic Hainan chicken, I will confidently say that this place is a DISHONOR to Hainan chicken. There is no flavor, no skin, and nothing similar to Hainan chicken. They give you these sauces to dip the flavorless chicken. The people who enjoy this place have poor taste. I hope you get to experience real Hainan chicken, and you won't find it here.
