We just had the barrel steak and a slice of creme brulee cheesecake. Jodi is absolutely amazing. Be sure to ask for her if you are looking for a great dining experience.
This place is fantastic start to finish. First the service is just fantastic. Had Terese wait on us tonight. Attentive and absolutely entertaining. My wife had the porterhouse. Cooked to perfection. The filet side was soft and had great flavor. The NY Strip side did nit disappoint. I had the Kansas city cooked perfect to medium rare. You MUST order the creamed spinach. Its the best I ever had.
Came in town for a convention and wanted a good steak - this was the first place mentioned. I sat at the bar - everyone was amazing! The food was delicious. I am content that I picked the perfect place!
This was my first visit ( 11/10/23) and was a special suprise. My best friend took me out to treat me and gift me time. I loved our server who took time to answer questions, chat and joke with us. The wine list was nice and we chose the Zolo(Argentinian Malbec) and it was delightful. We both opted for the 1776 steak( a filet top with lump crab and a cream sauce atop mash and paired with asparagus). We also added 1 serving of seared scallops. The steak was lovely but the all star were those scallops! They were large and perfectly cooked. They melted like butter in your mouth. We ended our dinner with the creme brulee cheesecake which was an interesting take on a classic dessert. It was absolutely delicious! I will definitely add this to my list of local places to visit for a special occasion or dinner.
A hidden gem; We love dinning at 1776. The food is delicious, the presentation is beautiful, the atmosphere is great with piano music in the background. The service is top notch. Terese is very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations on the food selection. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back again soon. Sincerely, Thuy Dong 11/20/2025
We just had dinner there. I had the tomahawk steak and my girlfriend had the filet. Everything was cooked perfectly. The steak was fresh, seasoned perfectly and simply. Cooked to perfection. The appetizers were amazing and the drinks a little strong but wonderful and well priced.
We have been coming here again and again with family and friends, and they never fail to deliver. Their steaks are among the best in terms of quality and taste, without the traditional top-end steakhouse prices. Is the Deco outdated? Yes! Who cares when the services, food, and drinks are hands down the best, with prices that were set ten years ago! Just tell the owner that! If ever near the beaches, you owe it to yourself to try it. You will do the same after trying this place, and will want to come back time and time again.
This was a great find! We normally stay on the beach in Rehoboth but this is worth venturing off the path. The service from John was outstanding! He was attentive and very personable and friendly. The steaks were amazing and I loved the ambiance. We’ll be back!
Our favorite steakhouse in Delaware! We visited on a Friday night. Reservations recommended. Plenty of free parking, restaurant is in a tired looking shopping plaza, near a popular movie theater. Noise level about a 4 out of 5. Friendly staff! Manager very hands on. Bar in the restaurant but not much seating. Piano player present. Great food and priced right! I will be back! 🍷
We went here for my girlfriend’s birthday and everything was outstanding. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and so were the cocktails. I’ve been coming here for years and will continue to come back. I enjoy that the dress code is business casual and has a more laidback atmosphere for a steakhouse. 10/10 recommend.
My Husband Made Reservations For My Birthday Dinner This Year. I Was Not Planning On Going Anywhere But Thankfully My Husband pushed Me To Go 🥲 The Anniversary Of My Daughters Death Is Coming Up So I Get A Lil Stuck. They Would Never Know This But The Service At The Restaurant Was Beyond Exceptional. The Owner Himself Was The Personification Of Care For His Patrons. The Service Was Smooth , Fast, And Effortless With Full Seating, But The Kindness Of The Owner Was The Only Thing To Outshine The Service ‼️ I Left With A Smile Thankful I Came. God Knew Exactly What I Needed. The Oysters Rockefeller Was The Absolute Standout Best I Ever Had 🤌🏽 The Fresh Spinach Was A Different Yet Refreshing Touch. I Also Had Lobster And Crab Au Gratin (Yummy) A Deviation From The Rack Of Lamb I Would Get Here Normally. My Husband Had Cesar Salad And The Prime Rib Which Was So Hugeee But Looked To Cut Like Butter. The Fresh Rolls Which The Maybe? Homemade Butter Receives Honorable Mentions As Accompaniment To The Meal. They As Added Bonus Had A Live Piano Player To Accompany A Classical Style Dinner Service. 20/10 Recommend☝🏼
You absolutely can not go wrong with this establishment! Everything is A+. The creme brulee cheesecake was phenomenal! Shared the bone-in ribeye with the blue cheese demi-glaze. The 1776 wedge salad is my favorite wedge salad of any restaurant. We always love to come back.
We had Josh, as our server last night. It was our first time there. The piano was playing beautifully. Josh brought out the different cuts of meat. He made my boyfriend’s birthday dinner so special. I highly recommend eating here and asking for Josh!
Just ate here and this is a great local steak house. Lots of seating but on the weekends you must make a reservation to dine here. They have a nice selection of steaks and they’ll bring them raw to your table to help you choose which one you may want. Of course they also have fish and a kids menu as well. Excellent deserts, good mixed drinks and even Trappist beers to choose from. If you want a good steak after the beach then I recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful place! My husband took me for my birthday dinner and I couldn’t be more pleased. I saw a couple bad reviews saying it was to loud to be considered romantic but I absolutely disagree. It was mildly loud with many happy guests having conversation but not so loud we were distracted or unable to hear each other. It was nice an cozy. Many employees and the owner came to greet us and made us feel welcomed and well cared for. The food…omg!!! The best steak I’ve ever had in my entire life. Everything was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this place.
A fine dining colonial inspired American steakhouse. A low light and intimate setting with a piano player in the background brings together quality steak and a worthwhile experience that you'll be asking to come back for. Don't let the strip mall appeal fool you, this is a grade A real local gem in Rehoboth located off of the coastal highway. P.S. try the basil butter 🧈.
Absolutely delicious meal at 1776 Steakhouse. The food was simply scrumptious, and the service was attentive, polite, and truly made us feel welcomed. Our server, Xander, did an excellent tour of the menu, making personal recommendations and ensuring our needs were met. My wife found her lobster tail divine, and I very much enjoyed my Frenched bone-in ribeye, which was soft, juicy, and flavorful.I had the French onion soup as a starter, and it was truly like drinking liquified magic. As a non-drinker, I greatly appreciated the quality of their sparkling water. Their desserts were also very lovingly crafted. Overall, we had a truly lovely time at 1776 Steakhouse, and would make it a destination for a special occasion. My compliments to the chef, and thank you to Xander for being a great server!
4 years ago visited for a steak, and so impressed that today, 4 years later I chose it as my birthday menu. So we came from Arundel, Sussex, UK to meet up with friends and went for a steak. Sounds simple, but the care and attention is out on a raft on its own, the food is exceptional, the staff are the icing on the cake, to make an evening special. When you come out of an establishment, feeling full, happy, and that it felt so good you are on cloud9, it remains in your mind as something good. It's good, trust me as an honest Brit, its the jewel in the crown folks.
I can’t believe my wife and I have been coming to Rehobeth for 10 years and from the suggestion of a local we came here. Best steak house I’ve been too yet. It’s my first time experiencing such up scale service. They made our 15 year Anniversary very special.
What a wonderful dining experience. Our waitress, Tamara, was great. And the food was spectacular. Even the butter for the rolls was perfection…it was surprisingly blended with honey and basil.
My husband brought me here on a date and it was amazing in every way. Amazing service, delicious drinks and food. Unfortunately we have not had the same luck at other restaurants we have tried in Delaware but this one was a pleasant surprise. We will be back and sad we did not try this place first for date night.
Very enjoyable dining experience. Steak was flavorful and cooked prefectly with delicious accompaniments especially the bernaise. Wait staff were great.
Wonderful restaurant. Was much better than expected, but to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. Definitely make reservations because they are needed.
The quality cook, and taste of my French Cut Ribeye was absolutely perfect, the au poivre sauce devine, the wine spot on, and our waitress and her service to our table was the perfect accompaniment. An absolute 5! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This was the absolute best steakhouse I've ever been too. We had the Filet Mignon and it just melts in your mouth. We were celebrating 44 years of marriage. Our server even took pictures for us. They are very eager to please. I wish I'd have taken the picture of my steak before I started eating. It was a beautiful presentation with asparagus.
My 80 year young husband has Parkinson's Disease, which is rapidly declining and in a Nursing Home. Our 46th Anniversary was July 9th and I knew I couldn't take him to the restaurant, so I asked them to come to us and they did. Everything was delicious. Thank you 1776 and Tom for making our day so special and unforgettable. You are 1 special person in my book. I am thankful for those good people that are still out there.
Was great. Third time I have been there. Dinners are amazing. A wide selection of steaks. Dry aged and all kinds of cuts. The sides are all home made and super yummy. It isn't a cheap place to eat. But I can say you get exactly what you pay for. Blows Texas Roadhouse out of the water. Reservations are a big help if you want to get in comfortably. Give it a shot and don't be intimidated by the cost. You will love it.
First time in the area for the night to go to a funeral of a fellow marine brother that passed. As we checked into our hotel at Fairfield and asked for great steak house and 1776 was hands down recommended. They were very gracious and with a great atmosphere. Hands down the best steak we’ve had in years.
A birthday celebration for my husband is always about prime rib and this is the place to get anything steak! It was thick and delicious he said. I had the black raviolis and it was so good, the creamy sherry sauce was delicious not overpowering in sherry. It was not too filling for me that I had a cup of ice cream after for dessert. Another favorite of my husband's is banana cream pie which both my son and husband ordered, a very generous portion that he said was the best he ever had. Our server Ellie and the rest of the staff were outstanding, we didn't have to ask for anything. They would quietly come and fill our water and clear our plates without interrupting our conversations. They were all awesome! I gave the atmosphere a 3 star because it was very congested when we walked in and had a difficult time getting to the small bar where we waited for our table to be ready, we arrived about 10 mins before our reservation. It was a little loud when we sat down at our table, it was difficult for me to hear across the table until some of the patrons cleared out. But I would definitely recommend the place. It was busy! And it was a Tuesday night!
We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner and it was amazing. Staff was so friendly off the bat, and our server Andrea was so kind and really drilled it to us that she wanted us to enjoy every bit of our meals. She even somehow got the chefs to cook my steak right over medium rare, but not quite medium it was perfect! We were not going to get the dessert but it was a huge chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, again perfect, enough for 3 people to share! We are from PA and we most definitely will be back!
We had an amazing experience at 1776 Steakhouse. The ribeye was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection from the mashed potatoes to the asparagus to the decadent chocolate cake! My daughter loved the sweet tea as well. Our server, Andrea, was very personable and wanted us to have the best experience so she took the time to explain the small differences in steak cuts. We will certainly be back on our next visit from PA! Hats off to the chefs!
Service was excellent! (John was our server). Food was very good. Excellently seasoned, however I considered our medium rare steaks as closer to a medium as there was only a blush of pink inside. Piano player was also very good. Overall an excellent evening of dining with a happy, not loud environment. A pleasant birthday dinner. Looking forward to our next dinner at 1776.
Appetizers, Dinner & Dessert were exceptional! Our server Alex was attentive and knowledgeable. The Chef Tammy came out to our table. The best overall dining experience I’ve had in years from the quality and flavor of the food to the service.
Had a wonderful dinner for my 70th birthday. They gave me a great experience. I cannot wait to go back.
I’d like to apologize on Mary D’s behalf for her completely inaccurate and unnecessarily rude review. My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Tom (the owner) personally seated us at one of the best tables in the restaurant and couldn’t have been more polite or accommodating. He made the entire experience warm and welcoming, going out of his way to ensure we were comfortable throughout dinner. It’s rare to see an owner so involved and genuinely caring about his guests, and it truly showed. The atmosphere was fantastic, a piano player filled the room with beautiful tunes, creating the perfect dining mood. Even on a Saturday during prime dinner hour, the noise level was fine and relaxed. I’ve been to countless restaurants, and I never judge a place by its location. If you know good food, you know that little mom-and-pop spots like this are often the best finds — true hidden gems. I didn’t think the prices were unreasonable at all, especially given the quality and how much we ordered. The menu offers plenty of great choices, and we sampled quite a few dishes. Everything we tried was excellent. We especially recommend the Lobster and Crab Au Gratin — absolutely delicious — and you can’t go wrong with the filet either. Service was top-notch from start to finish. Our server was attentive and friendly, and even the busboy stayed on top of refilling our waters without us ever having to ask. We'll be back and bringin some more family in.
Great experience here over the weekend. I ordered the tomahawk steak, it was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. I loved that they bring the cuts out to your table beforehand and explain each one. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, the food was great overall, and while the service was a little slow, it was clearly just because they were really busy. We’ll definitely be back!
Me and my wife were looking for a real steak dinner and stopped at 1776. The food and service was phenomenal. Taylor provided awesome service all around great experience. Will definitely come back. But next time we will make reservations.
Thank you so much to the owners for making our dinner experience a wonderful one!! Food was spectacular and the waiter was very accommodating and caring!!! My gift card had some hiccups.. but the owner made it right🥰First class people and establishment!!!
Great atmosphere, exceptional service. Food was good however it lacked on seasoning, very plain. The creme brulee was oddly thick inside and not creamy, the top of it was over torched in places causing burnt spots. Our server Jodi was amazing.
I had the 44 days dry age New York steak 🥩, they called it Kansas for some reason , its good, tender and juicy, perfectly cooked just the way i wanted, but a lil lack of seasoning, can’t go easy with salt on a good steak, just my opinion. The lobsters and crab soup was creamy, savory, love it. The cheese cake dessert was ok, very crowded even on weekdays. You have to make a reservation if you have 2 or more people, or you can sit at the bar if you don’t mind. Service was good, can’t complain.
The service was great. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable. The escargot was delicious, as were the scallop chips. However the rock fish was kind of dry. The dry aged NY strip was tasty, but really thick which made it a bit tough to chew.
Went here for a birthday dinner and although they were really busy for a Tuesday night (long wait for our meal, drinks and apps) we couldn’t complain about our meal or dessert! The manager Tom made sure we had what we needed and took care our our drinks and our sons birthday celebration! Love the wha of the steaks and flavor of it all!
First time here. This place is very unassuming from the outside (in fact, I would recommend a better building), but inside is white cloth and classy. A bit noisy once when the restaurant is filled, but the decorum is perfect for the holidays. The food was great and service was up-to-par. The pricing is actually very reasonable since the steaks come with a choice of side and they have no problem with substitutions. If I lived here, I would definitely come back. I had the filet and it was perfect.
This place was awesome. Service was great, food was good, and drink selection was nice. This was the first time I ever tried crab cakes, and I was thoroughly surprised how much I liked them. Steak wasn't as awesome as I thought it was going to be, but all and all it was a great dinner. I would most certainly come back.
The ambience is quaint and pleasant, the servers are friendly and attentive, the food is beyond delicious. The only downside is the front desk woman at the time was seemingly annoyed by us coming in earlier than our reservation.
Filet mignon was so tough I could hardly chew or cut it. I didn't complain ( my fault) because I ordered sugar on my margarita and they put salt. I had already complained about that so I didn't want to complain again. Few days later I messaged them on Fb just to let them know what the kitchen was sending out, no response. A simple apology or some kind of response would've gone a long. way.
1. This was the very first time coming to 1776 it was my 68th birthday . I went with my wife 11/7/25 2. A few items bothered me . A. Our.waitresses seem to be in a rush . other tables were shown the nice meats on the try that 1776 has to offer . Not us ? I would have liked to seen that. I was able to listen to the waiter and table next to us . B. When talking about the specials and the sides for the night it was like she was speed talking. And she left so fast . I asked my wife did you get any of that? She said maybe 1/2 of it. C. I did get there 16 oz prime rib and it was fantastic . And I had 1/2 of it left and wanted to take that home . When the waitress cleared the table the rush she was in. she pilled all the plates and other items from the table onto my plate . Again she was in a rush . So much for taking that prime rib home.😒 3. No other complaints the food was amazing
Not all it's cracked up to be for the price at all. Better steaks at longhorn or Texas Roadhouse in my opinion. Dessert was fantastic but imported from a bakery in Ocean view
They advertised it as something “special” and “amazing,” but it tasted like a cheap, defrosted piece of meat — and you could absolutely tell. When I mentioned it, the server actually insulted me by asking if I’d ever had steak before. To make it worse, I still had a beer left when I paid, and they were already seating new people at my table as if I wasn’t even there. Having people hovering over me while I was still finishing was rude and completely disrespectful. Overall, a terrible experience from both the kitchen and the staff. I won’t be back.
My wife and I ate here for a day trip in Rehoboth yesterday, I have to say we were both very underwhelmed after reading all of the positive reviews and also seeing the menu prices. The service was great and our server took good care of us but my first steak ordered medium rare came back way under (rare) my wife's was the same. After sending it back to get re fired they then overcooked the outsides with still a freezing cold rare center, the sides were okay, (my sweet potato was much better then the bland vegetables, the vegetables had no color or seasoning) just all in all I've had a much better experience from steakhouses that are half of the price I spent here. We wont be back.
