My wife and I ate at the bar. Great service. The drinks were very tasty. I had the Josh Allen Taco and it was fantastic.
Fun place to go especially during a snow storm in Rochester. Great service & delicious food. We watched some Bills game. Wish they had more than 1 TV. Wasnt the reason we went out but fun to watch anyhow.
Love Bitter Honey. Had great margaritas, nachos and enchiladas tonight. Was very sad that the menu has changed for the chopped salad. It used to be one of my fave salads in all of Rochester, especially with blackened chicken. Missed the size, the black beans and nice fresh avocado... and unique chicken. The new version is nowhere near as tasty and extraordinary as the original. 😭😭😭😭 The dressings are still delicious fortunately. We will be back for other things. RIP lovely salad.
I’m surprised the overall review combined is only 4.3 stars. I love Bitter Honey—it’s consistently good all around. The apps, entrees, dessert, drinks, service overall. 10/10 for sure. I’ve never once ordered something from here that wasn’t delicious. Every server I’ve had was super polite and accommodating. Highly recommend.
Great food. Good service. Really nice outdoor seating g inside is much larger than it appears. Friend got a mix of tacos wish I had got that for a meal it looked amazing.
I’ve been to bitter honey a couple times and always enjoy it, this time we brought our friends visiting from out of town and I realized why I love this place even so much more seeing how much my friends were enjoying it. The drinks, the food, the vibes are always immaculate. Our server Begem gave us 10/10 service, went above and beyond to show our table a good time and really completed our experience. We will be back and would love to see our new friend Begem again
Our first time at Bitter Honey was to celebrate my wife’s new journey and it quickly became one of our favorite date night spot! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming - sometimes it can be a bit chilly inside. We love their creative cocktails/mocktails and the tacos are always packed with fresh bold flavors. The staffs are friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit and they validate your pass if you choose to park across the street lot.
Bitter Honey is a great place to get together for drinks, food, and get together with friends and/or family. The margaritas are freshly made to order without the artificial stuff you find at other places, which is a breath of fresh air. The menu has options for everyone, including gluten free. A little bit of confusion from one experience to the next on which tacos are gluten free and not, so use your best judgement.
Absolutely delicious food, we sat outside and enjoyed the weather with some sangria's and a Paloma, both very smooth. We got the chips and queso to start, and the Mexicali bowl and chicken quesadilla for entrees, both of which were fantastic. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive and the atmosphere was calming and perfect. Will 100% be visiting again soon!
I had a blast at Bitter Honey. Their Mezcal selection was unbelievable, and Jared mixed wonderful cocktails. Bitter Honey was crowded with a fun crowd on this Friday night in late January. I was decades older than anyone else, but no one cared. People conversed and laughed with me. The food was pretty good too. Bitter Honey would be great for groups. Rochester is a fun town.
We held our wedding rehearsal dinner at Bitter Honey, and I have to tell you that it was one of the BEST decisions we made for the whole wedding weekend. The food and experience are still talked about months later! Right from the start, the staff welcomed us for even touring the space and considering them as an option. The booking process was seamless and the answer to just about every question was "yes." It couldn't have been more lovely, and this was before the event even started! We were setup for cocktail hour style snacks and cocktails before a sit down dinner in the back left area of the restaurant. Even though it is part of the main dining room, it felt so private and intimate. We were able to talk to everyone, get up and walk around, and the servers were ON TOP OF IT. Drinks were flowing and they even packed everything up for us to take leftovers when we had more than expected with guests who couldn't attend due to travel issues. It was just the perfect kick-off for my husband-to-be and I. Thank you, Bitter Honey! We are already planning the next event that we can hold with you, can't wait!
Average experience and average food. I came with a group of friends and setting up a reservation was really easy, I just called ahead and they send reminder and confirmation texts. We ordered drinks, mocktails, a flights of chips, tacos, nachos, and the drunken shrimp bowl. We enjoyed our food but it was nothing spectacular. The service was friendly but we had to be more proactive with questions, asking about gluten free options, and how to split the bill. The place has a fun environment and a pretty big bar, but I’m not rushing back for the food. Parking: there’s street parking, a paid lot right across the way, and a free lot down the street closer to the public market.
Ended up nearby default originally set out to watch Bills game at Ziggy's drinks were good bartenders are friendly and very Interactive only negative was not enough TVs it is a Mexican restaurant though so completely understandable
The decor of Bitter Honey is really nice to me, but others may feel it's way to dark. The layout of the restaurant is straight forward. You have a great looking bar to your left, and past that the spacious dining area. The restrooms are oddly outside of the restaurant down the hallway. Service was really good. I would return. Taco's- At $7 each it's best to get the platter ($24) if you like rice and beans. The 3 Tacos I had was Baja, Barbados, and Al Pastor. The tacos are on the small side, but they are pack with fillings. I would've loved them more if the shells were pan fried. Chips/ Guacamole- was really good. I could've ate this for dinner alone. Loved how fresh everything was Birria taco- I felt it could've used more meat, and with more flavor. The dipping sauce could've been better, if it was the actual stewed sauce from the meat. Mai Boo- if you like pina colada's then you'll enjoy this drink. Very good and refreshing.
Honestly, I don't like anything about my experience with the FOOD at this restaurant...other than the company & super dope ambiance nothing good here. The food that I ordered was so off-balance. It had no seasoning (the rice) and then the Chile Reno just ragged of hotness so hot I could not even eat it. I should've sent it back. It wasn't even worth a second bite. Nachos and tacos is what I would stick with. This is a Mexican Restaurant for goodness sakes!! The margarita wasn't even good. It had an aftertaste to it and tasted really weird. I will bot be back, unfortunately, I had high expectations.
The food was definitely not authentic Mexican cuisine. It just seemed like overpriced Mexican food. More importantly, our server Dana was very rude. We reserved a table for 6 to have a margarita tower for a special occasion, and instead of being celebrated we were made uncomfortable. Two members of our party were late, and she continued to come back and ask us where they were which made us feel pressured and uncomfortable. She got upset at us and made us feel bad for getting a reservation for just drinks, even though we ordered an appetizer and one member of our party ordered food. When we called to make the reservation, we weren’t told we absolutely HAD to order food and were asked if we were celebrating something.. which we were (an anniversary) Our margarita tower was over $100, (tinyyyy might I add) so her getting upset that we made a reservation was odd. Gratuity was also included which was super upsetting because she got well over the tip we would’ve given her given her attitude toward us. Really upsetting and disappointing experience. Again her name was Dana D. To top it all off, we were there for a little less than an hour and a half and as we were finishing our $105 margarita, someone came up to us and said “we are going to have to ask you to leave because we really need this table” We were caught off guard but politely and instantly got up and left and passed 0 people in the waiting room AND there was an empty table next to us. Overall a really uncomfortable experience. Never have we ever been rushed out of a restaurant or treated as such by our waitress.
I wish I could leave a score of -5. The atmosphere is nice enough but the experience was horrible. Went for a birthday dinner there. They refused to separate checks and limited the of credit cards to 4 max. That’s crazy for party of 18. Our server Cory had an attitude from the beginning and was often short with us when asking questions. Food was just ok. Not true Mexican food. More Tex Mex. Bill came to $686.40 including 116 in gratuity. Will NEVER go there again. Too many other restaurants with better food at better prices.
*IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW* Walked into the bar at 9:40… first thing I asked the bartender was, “Is your kitchen closed?” She told me they were open until 11. I then followed up by asking if it was okay to order food and what food would be easy to make.. as I work in a restaurant myself and understand the environment. I then placed an order for a singular burrito, tipped 25%, and went on with my night. I opened my food to this note. Extremely disrespect and unprofessional to say the least. Maybe train your FOH staff to know the restaurant hours or train your kitchen staff to have some decency when doing their jobs. So unprofessional. UPDATE… It has been a few days since the to-go order and I have been very sick. Vomiting for days. I don’t know if it’s food poisoning or what but something is very wrong. Not sure what the kitchen did to my food along with the note.. but it is not safe. Disgusting, unethical, and unprofessional to say the least. Not even sure it’s legal to purposely tamper with someone’s food. DO NOT GO TO BITTER HONEY!!
