After our first visit to The Richmond last night, we can’t wait to return. Our party of six enjoyed the cool classic ambiance on both floors and were lucky enough, weather-wise, to be able to relax outdoors on the 2nd floor deck, a great space. Center stage, of course, was the lengthy Mortalis beer list (I loved the Prometheus and Chronos, both super tasty and potent stouts). Sharing top billing was the food, including expertly crafted pizzas (Truffle Daddy and Diavolo to share) and sandwiches (my wife raved about her Steak+Chimi). To top it off, we enjoyed the lively and friendly service as soon as we entered and with each encounter during our visit. We’ll definitely be back.

Had a great 1st time experience, meeting up with old friends. Was able to meet Jim of Doughboyz which was a pleasure, sitting barside by the oven. Wings were A1 cripsy af without even asking. Diavola & beesting pizza were on point. pulled pork Gnocchi was going crazy and to top it off with the steak sandwich & whoopie pie dessert was a treat. To say I was full was would be an understatement. Was able to enjoy a wide selection of drinks as well. Would definitely recommend !

So many different wing sauces, where to start!? Bartender could have been more attentive. There were only 4 people there and my drink was empty for 5 min with me trying to make eye contact the whole time. Just be assertive, and it's fine.

Beer was delicious if you like sours. Cocktails were phenomenal as well. Chef Jimmy with Dough Boyz for food was top shelf for a place like this!

Great bar. The mortalis and doughboyz co ownership has been a great thing. Been busy every time we have stopped by. The food, especially the specials, never disappoints. The the mortalis draft and can list has really opened up accessibility of their beers I had not had previously.

The wings are very good here. The wings are not the red hot sauce type. The Death Row are the hottest, but not deadly hot: full of flavor and good depth of flavor from jalapeño, habanero , and other chili peppers. The Cajun dry rub is full of good flavor without intense heat. I liked all the wings I had. The whiskey flavored wings were also very enjoyable. This place is an equal to my favorite wing place of Alliger's in Sayre, PA. I will go out of my way to come back to Rochester again, just to stop here.

Wow, just went in for quick meal and was treated like an old friend! Scott, the bartender, is cheerful, gregarious, and a nimble server who has his regulars orders memorized. He stayed on top of the multiple diners wings orders at the bar, and chatted everyone up concurrently. Monday is wing special, and that's what I went in for. Too many sauces to choose from, and though the garlic parmesan and sriacha honey were amazing, my only disappointment was being too full for more, and thus I missed out on the night special sauces including blueberry habanero and ghost pepper Alfredo. Hopefully next time...and there will be a next time with such welcoming service! Even though I was solo and there for the special, I was not treated like a dining pariah eating "on the cheap" as I have sadly experienced at other eateries. Nope, Richmond's and the staff acted like I was a regular, which encouraged me to try their suggestions. This let me to an interesting IPA inspired cider on tap, and the French Onion soup, which had a robust onion broth with tons on wonderfully caramelized onions! Perfect! Can't wait for another Monday at Richmonds!

The new owners have done right by this place. Love the affordable cocktails and beer list. Wonderful, friendly bartenders and comfy seating throughout. Can't wait to become a regular.

It's been a long time since I've been here, but when I lived in the East End it was my go to. I don't know if Christian and Jaime still work there, but I always loved having them around, and getting away from the hordes of people at the bars in the area. The food is also always great. this is definitely my favorite bar. food is great. atmosphere is great. i’m not a fan of beers but i love the fruited sours by Mortalis. the staff really cares about providing a great experience.

Went it last night to meet some friends. 1st time since the Covid shutdown. The remodel they did is pretty awesome. We sat up on the second floor which now has a staffed bar after a certain hour. Waitress was excellent! The wings were some of the best I have had, nice and crispy and you cannot best Richmond’s sauce. Entirely a great time. I have been coming here since my U of R days back in the 80s and look forward to coming back often.

We have been to the new reiteration of Richmond’s at least four times. It’s amazing ..the pizzas have a perfect amount of char on the bottom, the wings are done to the right crispness. Mortalis brewing has some beer with very different and specific characteristics. Keep up the great work.!! We love it there.

I love this place !!! Their beers are so unusual and delicious. Its very thick juice like consistency. It’s a perfect place to go for dinner and drinks if you want a cute date or catch up with friends. I like their pizzas but the crust was a little burnt.

Relaxed atmosphere, prices were good, pizza in the brick oven (a proper pizza oven) was excellent, wings were very solid, interesting sandwiches and of course an absolutely insane beer selection. Beer covered the gamut from Mortalis' premium selections and a few local favorites. The whiskey and bourbon selection is surprisingly good as well. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely come back and put this on our shortlist for nights on the town.

Get the wings. The food was so good and the beer amazing as expected for Mortalis beers. We got the beesting and butcher pizza, both very good and fresh. Incredible crust texture and flavor. We also got the Richmond wings - a medium heat and a Dijon mustardy base. We also tried a fresh and warm cookie. They care about the food you get here. Highly highly recommend.

Their wings are incredibly good. Some of the best wings I've had in Rochester. Their hot is of course delicious, but they've got some other really great sauces. Country sweet is good, especially if you mix em with hot. Also, I am not one to normally get dry rubs, but my friend got the Cajun dry rub, and man. It is really great to. Definitely go here. Awesome bartenders! Cook are creative and awesome! I would hands down go here anytime if I want wings, a burger or sandwich. Nobody else in Rochester has the same style wings or the unique sauces. This place is a hidden gem.

What a nice job renovating this longtime Rochester bar and restaurant! Classy and welcoming. Great food and cocktails. We split the curried chick pea sandwich with sweet potato fries and the margarita pizza made vegan. Delicious!

We stopped in for some drinks and pizza on 10/28/22. The staff were BUSY !! The bar seats were full but there were lots of comfortable two-tops and larger tables. ALL staff were friendly, respectful and courteous. In the past we have had excellent wings - but this time we tried the Quatro Formaigo pizza. It was an absolutely delicious pizza. Thank you so much.

The food has always been spot on and fantastic. Great hidden gem in the city. They have a bunch of wing flavors and specials, decent beer, new burger recipes every week. It's one of my top go-to beer and food options. Oh, and the bartenders are always nice!

I hosted my birthday here the other day to watch the Bills game. The food, staff, and bar was on point. This will become a yearly tradition for me! Loved everything about it!!

Came here for the first time to watch the bills vs dolphins game and had the best time. Buffalo chicken empanada was amazing as well as the Beesting pizza. Cozy, downtown bar close to Eastman Theater. Great drinks and pizza. Upstairs seating is bright and cheerful on cooler days and nights. Quick service and everything clean.

This really seems like a bar that happens to have quite a bit of Mortalis available on draft and cans. No Mortalis signage or swag inside. They have pizza and a few other items to eat.

Tried to come here after dinner, but was not allowed in by the security guard because we had one slice of pizza in a to go box leftover from dinner. I guess outside food of any kind is not allowed in. Spent our money at another bar nearby. EDIT: Original review was before Mortalis gained ownership. Have been here a couple of times since and have updated the review to five stars. Food and beer are exceptional. It's on the pricey side for what it is and I don't love the additional credit card fee. Great looking place as well.

New menu. Party of five people having different items. I had the fried chicken sandwich with fresh hand cut fries. The brioche bun is tasty and the sauce on the fried chicken thigh was very good. The fried pickles are thinly sliced giving a crispy texture. The chicken poppers are craggy and crunchy. Others in my party had the pasta flight which they said they enjoyed. Great menu in a fresh contemporary space.

Food was really good. Vibes and music was super chill. Service was real friendly and quick. Beers were AMAZING! Hydra bunyip and black currant were super duper good. We loved!

Great bar. Visited late Sunday afternoon and decided to stay for dinner. There was a nice outdoor space and inside dining area. We had some great beer including a pilsner and an October fest style, all made by the microbrewery tavern owner. I ordered a perfect rye Manhattan with bitters and a twist, no cherry, and it stands out as one of the more memorable cocktails I've had. I regret not asking the bartender for the recipe. The pizza is a great blend of traditional Neapolitan and New York (crispier than in New York with lighter topping, more substantial than a Neoplitan and with more toppings). Wings memorably good. And for a while the woman tending bar was also the sole server with a reasonably large crowd and did a great job at it. All in a pleasant place to watch a bit of football with drinks and snacks on a Sunday afternoon.

Came here for a birthday celebration and it was amazing! There was a misunderstanding with how I wanted the tables to be set up but the staff (Paige) quickly moved our party over so that we had the upstairs bar area to ourselves. The space was perfect for mingling & taking fun pictures. We also were able to step into the upstairs rooftop lounge and that was amazing! It’s very spacious and there was so much room for everyone and other patrons who wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather & views. The food & drinks were delicious as well! We were also allowed to bring a cake! I highly recommend the Richmond for smaller or large gatherings.

Great spot with excellent food and drinks. It's not pretentious and is a fantastic straight forward food spot. The brick oven pizza was cooked perfectly which seems to not happen around here a lot. Wings were excellent with the Richmond sauce and the service from Paige was awesome. Our second time here and will definitely be back.

This is a great place to watch the Bills games! Plenty of TVs, they celebrate each goal with a chant and a shot. The Mortalis beers they offer are fantastic! I'm always excited to try to new beer and the new chicken wing flavor. Their wings are great and their chicken wing dip is the best I have ever had - all others are now trash.

Tonight’s fare started with the house salad with the pickled onions and pesto dressing it was delicious. Next up was the chicken sandwich with seasoned fries. Nice and crispy the pickles tasted like homemade. I’m not a sour beer fan but tonight the sours were like dessert. A must try.

This is a really good place to get wood fired pizza and other things like wings or a sandwich. I'm not a big beer fan but people seem to really like their beer too. The staff was friendly and service was excellent. We were only passing through but we wish we lived nearby.

There are great seating options both inside and on the upstairs patio. Our server, Gianna, was very nice and helpful! The food was all great. Tried the wings, pizza, truffle fries, and the steak sandwich. Everything we had was great! Went with a group of 4 and it was great to share, but would have been nice portions for solo eating. We tried the canned fruit sour beers and they were so thick and fruity. Great for fruity sour fans! Would highly recommend the Ladon sour Collab with cheesy Eddie's!

Highly recommend The Richmond! They did a nice job with the space when they took it over. Staff is friendly and service was efficient. We stopped in on a Friday with two parties rocking and the staff and kitchen never caved under pressure. The beer list is full of something for everyone from mortalis. The cocktail list has something for everyone. The food is to die for. We had wings which were the best wings I've had recently. We also ordered a vegan pizza by accident but it was still delicious. If you haven't seen the new space yet it's worth a visit

The food was great, service was solid, the main reason this place gets a 4 star is because of the food and drinks though, especially the food. Definitely a "hole in the wall" sort of place, not somewhere I'd take someone on a first date or a "nice" meal, but if you ignore all that or don't care, this place is great!

I like Richmond's! The bar has a lot of potential due to the location and size. There is an area upstairs with a roof top patio that can be transformed into something amazing given a little attention. They have great food and cocktails. I usually hangout with the girls on Monday for wing night. You get 10 wings for $7.00, $8.50 tax included if you want celery and blue cheese or ranch. They have many wing sauces to choose from but I enjoy the buffalo garlic parm the most. My favorite bartender is Scott because he is professional yet friendly and he knows his customers. Since I only stop by on Monday's I don't get to see the other bartenders often. Go check out their wings!

I went to catch up with a few of my girlfriends, the server was great! Very personable and knew his stuff. We ordered a ton of wings, different sauces, snacks. Not many vegetarian options, we hope to see more in the future!

Awesome place to hang, eat and drink. I like the remodel while keeping the historic nature of the building in place. Great beer selection! Food menu is lacking in options but I'm guessing it's because they just opened. All of the food that did come out of their tiny kitchen looked great. The wings were awesome except for the price which is why I didn't give them 5 stars. $18 for a dozen wings is the most expensive wings around. I know there's a wing shortage driving up prices right now but there are other great wings in Roc that don't charge that much. Their upstairs area is quiet and roomy. There's even some books up there. Their patio is great too. Lots of places to sit, eat and drink.

Great beer selection! The food is also delicious, I got the truff daddy pizza the last two times I’ve been here because it is sooo good. The only downside was the crust was a little too blackened for my liking, but the rest of the pizza was delicious. Also, the parking here is very tough and stressful. Otherwise, the atmosphere inside is great especially the upstairs and the rooftop. Service is wonderful!

Kitchen caught on fire - 10/10 would go again. Seriously though. -- Even though this the divey-est bar I have ever been to, it's not a bad thing. The staff is very friendly, they have very good wings, a solid beer selection, and a rooftop patio. Take it as it is and have a good time.

Place is great, but a bit high priced! Ordered 1 hummus appetiser, 1 Cuban sandwich and 2 $5 beers - total was $50 excl. tip 2 big TV’s in the upstairs lounge is good for football nights - this can become a sports bar very quickly like every other bar / restaurant in Rochester. Downstairs has no TVs. So if you wanna actually hangout with a company and not be distracted by sports , sit downstairs.

Absolutely amazing food. We made a reservation for four and were promptly taken care of ordered food. Was very good delicious food. Unfortunately we think due to the amount of grease present in the food 2/4 people got sick from the food. Absolutely delicious. We got two chicken sandwiches and the ricotta mushroom pizza and they were amazing but very greasy. The people who were sick did say they would do it again but maybe not eat the fries.

Gluten free pizza and mocktails! What a fun place for food and drinks! They have a wood oven they make all their pizzas in, minus the gluten free. Gluten free is prepared and cooked separately to reduce cross contamination. Be prepared to wait +20 minutes for a gf pizza. I ordered the pizza special on the gluten free crust. Not bad! It’s a bit thicker (not full Detroit but not NYC thin). Overall, not bad. I would order it again, but this wouldn’t be my first choice for a GF pizza. The crust fine, a little dense and premade. They have a couple of fun mocktail options that aren’t some overpriced lemonade junk. I would recommend going for the atmosphere and drinks (alcoholic or not). I’m excited to see what else I can try on the menu. The staff are so friendly and helpful! All my questions were answered and it was so fun watching everyone cook at the pizza oven! Street parking and a small lot for their customers, both free.

The wings are great, but they got rid of all the games upstairs, and it just seems so small. It's great for some food and a beer, but the lack of space, and what was done with the upstairs I'm not a fan of. Still a must visit for wings.

It's a nice place. Great food, great beer, mediocre cocktails (they just put a lot of syrup to make it sweet). But stuff ruins all the experience. For an outdoor back patio, you need to order on a bar. But be prepared to complete ignorance. I understand that Friday night is busy and everyone is tired, but still. Bartenders will pass by you multiple times saying no word and pretending you don't exist. Chatting and laughing with regulars and still pretending you don't exist. So be patient...

This is what happens when someone takes a classic staple of a historical Rochester bar, and ruins it with dreams of being a NYC bistro bar... this place used to be welcoming- friendly and really took care of its customers... currently, I felt like it's doing the opposite. The kitchen closes way to early on weekends, and the drinks are overpriced for what they actually serve you. I understand a great mixologist or legendary bartender who wows the masses can be a great thing for any bar, and that might warrant higher drink prices usually found in higher end establishments. I did not feel.like that was the case here at all.. The staff here was not overly friendly and did not make any effort to treat us with any sort of acknowledgement, until we literally had to ask for drinks.. (it wasn't even busy on our visit) We went upstairs which is nice looking, but literally empty with no one up there? Where are all the people for this lounge area they created? When we actually saw an employee up there, he answered our questions rudely, and made us feel dumb for even talking to him.... so that sucks. Basically, I will end it with this. - If you like people being pretentious and treating you like your not cool enough to be in thier average establishment that overcharges for meager drinks...The Richmond might be for you! If you want friendly service in a timely manner with a welcoming atmosphere, you won't find it here.

Came over after hearing the hype about this place before a concert at Eastman. First impression when I walked in: everything is sticky. We got our food: wings and a shrimp po boy. Not impressed by the food and their wings that are supposed to be delicious, were not amazing. I knew ordering a po boy at a sticky bar was a risk, and I didn't even eat half of the po boy it was terrible - just some shrimp thrown on some bread with lettuce. I don't recall the service being very excellent either. Maybe that's because we were dressed up and everyone in there was very casual.

Great beer. Not good food for the second time. Sandwich chared. Good flavor until the char taste. Limited menu and carefree service. Probably won’t go back.

Pleasant atmosphere. The place has been cleaned up since it was "Richmonds" HOWEVER, if you are not at the bar you place your order on your phone and "someone" calls your name and brings it to you. That's fine for Tom Wahl's, but not for a place that charges you $12 for a shot of wine. Horrible. And my husband got a double whiskey. No way was it a double. It was disguised with a huge ice BRICK. One sip and done. Not thrilled at all. No personal service and product is less than mediocre for too much money. Sorry, I really wanted to like it.

The place is cool, drinks are great, food menu is very limited but the food was very good. The service was absolutely awful. Just awful. 3 out of 4 meals came at the same time. The 4 th when we were halfway done. We ordered drink refills that took til after we wee done eating to come. Our server left ys with no water, no drinks the whole meal. Never came back, didn't even come over when we waved at him. Had to get our check from the bartender. They didn't clear our plates. Just terrible.

Cocktail menu, Great! Vibes/decor, great! Service, eh. Food 0/10. I haven't had a bad meal in downtown Rochester since before covid, and i eat out downtown weekly. I got the hot wings and Richmond wings. Both wings were made in separate batches. They were dry and chewy. I cook wings at home and honestly, it is challanging to make great wings and even harder to make bad wings. The steak +chimi churri sandwich I chose had severely burnt flatbread and medium rare steak. The steak could have been great but was cut with the grain making the whole burnt sandwich chewy. I also sampled the arinchini which was fried far too long and had a chewy crust. The whole experience seems like a fluke considering the overall great ratings... maybe just a bad cook at the moment??? As i watched from the bar, she looked overwhelmed and made a face of disgust as she plated up the food she prepared. Hope this review helps to get your buisness back on track!

Almost every Friday for the last 8 months (be it we did skip a few) me and my coworkers would go to Richmonds. With an amazing venue, 5 star truffle fries, this place was it. Buying rounds, cocktails and leaving with a 4 pack of hydra (especially the sangria). This was a great place to just sit and go over our hectic day. Upon my promotion to another location, we celebrated last night, or tried to. As we ordered the first round of our drinks, we sat down in the same corner of our first visit. After 10 minutes, we were subsequently told to stand up because the seats were reserved. After trying to sit elsewhere, we were told every other seat was reserved, and we would have to stand at the bar. While standing at the bar with my drink, I noticed water from the ceiling was splashing into my hydra. Nevertheless, we tried to make the best of it. I notified the bartender and continued with just a beer. As we stayed for the next hour, conversed and left. The seats that were reserved were never filled. I felt offended by an establishment that I've continually given high praises and raved to others. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very bad taste but I wish richmonds continued success in its future endeavors.

This place has gone down hill. The food is not what it once was. The wings are soggy and recipes have changed. Our waitress seemed to have an issue serving us. We somehow rubbed her the wrong way by asking for more water and checking on the status of our food. Just a weird vibe. I give it two stars because they have a good selection of brews. Probably won’t be returning or recommending anymore though.

Came out to have a good time, but what a disappointment. The bartender Lexi was too busy getting her face pet by some man, she didn't even want to make my drink I had previously paid for! I really had to interrupt her. Last time coming here. Felt like a racist atmosphere! #Usedtobeacustomer!

Came to place with family. It was my first and last time coming to this establishment. The food and drinks were good but the service was really bad. The waitress never came to our table except to bring our food and drinks. She was not friendly and it was as if we were bothering her. I personally did not feel welcomed. The funny thing about it was that I was not a packed place. We we the only table she had to serve. There was maybe five people in the place at any given time, when we were there. The atomphere was not great. When we left we weren’t given a good night or come again by the staff. Overall I will not be coming back and will let others know that this establishment is not warm and friendly.

Walked in yesterday with another gentleman to order food. No one from the staff spoke to us even though that saw us walk in. We walked up to the cook before sitting down and asked if they are still cooking food and he told us yes. We sit down for about 10 minutes and no one walks over to help if it even tell us that we need to order from the bar. I watched the cook tell some gentleman working that we're over here looking to order. He could've been another bartender? Which would've put two of them behind the bar. He looks over at our table, turns around and proceeds to hang at the bar for a couple of minutes. Then he grabs the garbage and begins to throw that out. At this point we got up to leave and on our way out the door he tells us there's no waitress tonight and we need to go up to the bar to order. This would've been fine had I not already been there 10 mins and not seen the cook tell him we're here to order. The fact that taking out garbage was more important than at least telling us we need to order from the bar is disrespectful. I would suggest to the establishment to review the camera footage or even post it on here before trying to dispute what I've written here or act as if what I'm saying did not happen or was not the case.

This is not what it once was. The prices are higher (18 dollars per dozen wings) and the wings are frozen and soggy. The hot sauce, while flavorful, was mild at best. The craft beer selection was excellent and at 6 dollars apiece seemed reasonable.... Until I got the check. The food prices aren't listed anywhere in the restaurant and they don't have a website that I could find. The check seemed high, so I asked for an itemized receipt (which is strange, since most places let you see that without needing to ask). When I got my bill for what seemed to be a dozen dominoes wings and they were 18 dollars, I was surprised. Though, not as surprised as I was for being charged 8 dollars per beer when the menu said 6 dollars. In conclusion: I cannot recommend this place, as they seem to be trying to use the namesake of a great wing joint to trick people into eating overpriced frozen wings and overcharging them on beer under the assumption that they will not ask for an itemized receipt. So, if you need to go eat wings here because of the hype, just know that this is a shell of it's former self with some nice new furniture. It is a completely different place and should only be judged on the new ownership. Daddy does not likey.

Never been to a place this rude and unprofessional . Sat the bar. Dirty and wet. Asked for a napkin to clean it. Staff just throw those to me and did not even offer to clean the table. They are not busy. Had two guests sitting at bar. Two staff working. But seem not care enough for this solo traveler siting there. So I just said : thank you for your serves and left. I ran restaurants and I understand not to be needy or mean to the staff but this is way below average for customer service. I would give it Zero star if I had to.

There is nothing worse than standing at a busy bar and watching a bartender repeatedly help every man around you. Sees you standing there with no drink in hand yet helps people with drinks in front of them. That was my experience last night at Richmond’s on 3/12/25. It would be great if the male bartender could try to smile or be personable

I’ve been here twice. And the food and beer have been great! 3rd time is absolutely ridiculous. My friend and I come here after an event and they didn’t give 2 craps about service. We showed up and they were busy. Completely understandable! So they asked us if we wanted to sit outside. And that you order at the bar then they deliver it. What they didn’t mention is that the service was non existent! We got our food and then that’s it! No one stopped or ask if we needed anything! Nothing! So we finished and had to go back to the bar to checkout and they asked if we wanted to tip! Absolutely ridiculous! The person at the bar was doing their job and I do not blame them at all. It’s the establishment that’s a complete joke!
