It had been quite a while since I'd been there. No disappointments with any of our steaks. I had a New York strip, my husband got the "petite" bone-in rib eye and my birthday boy got the porterhouse. We shared sides - asparagus cooked just right - not hard and chewy but full if flavor and not overcooked; buttery mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Too much fine dining to even look at the very well appointed dessert tray!
Excellent experience! Valet, coat check all staff very accommodating. Sat in the bar area due to a mix up with my reservation. Service was fantastic! Everything from appetizer to the dessert was amazing. We will definitely be back and not just for a Valentine's dinner.
Tournedos was excellent. From the moment we got there, to when we were seated, to the ambience, wait staff, wine selection and food exceeded expectations. We topped everything off with excellent dessert and left extremely satisfied. Tournedos is pricey but you get what you pay for and if it is a fine dining experience you seek, that you will get.
This is a classic, high-end steak house in a Colonial setting in a fine hotel. As one would expect, they also have fish, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. The steak selection is huge - often 12 to 15 cuts. Mine was grilled just to the 'pinkness' that I requested, and arrived with a side sauce - bordelaise, per my request. Side dishes of mushrooms, roasted potatoes, and asparagus were delicious. Service was prompt, subdued, and not pushy. This is a great place for a special meal with that special someone.
We had an exceptional late night dinner here, we sat in the lounge, it was quiet and service was great. As a 4 top we all agreed everything we had was cooked to perfection. It's nice to see the transition kept the same level of quality in the kitchen. Would recommend to anyone looking to have an upscale outstanding food experience in the downtown Rochester area.
We love Tournedos! Locally owned. Very fine dining - mainly steaks and seafood. Tonight we had a steak and sea bass; delicious. Private dining rm, dining rms and but also bar seating which can be more casual. Extensive cocktail and wine menu. Attentive servers as well.
This is a high-end steak house. Don't go here looking for a cheap cut or to be frugal. You get what you pay for at a place like this. They have A5 Waygu if you really want to splurge, but their dry-aged porterhouse is my favorite. Service is impeccable. Each table is assigned at least 2 people to help pour drinks and clean up. A wonderful dining experience all around. Their calamari is top-notch too. Highly recommend that. Dessert was just OK. Not bad, but just alright. Our table seemed to enjoy the pear-infused cognac a ton though, so maybe stick with booze or their house grappa.
Fine dining the way you expect it to be. There are some elements that are missing, but this is the only restaurant I’ve ever been to in Rochester (moved here from Boston) that was closest to offering old-school upper class hospitality-such as the heated hand towels & using proper service techniques. The building is beautiful, boasting Versace designs, yet it has a non pretentious & welcoming vibe. I felt like I stepped back in time into the 1930s which was interesting. The lounge area reminds me of VIP rooms because of the dim lighting & creative cocktails. The mocktail menu is sexy & I’m a non-drinker, so I had two! Lou was my server who was a pleasure to have met. This is the place to go in Rochester -and the only place I’d recommend to those who are looking for the perfect place to impress!
This review is for Tournedos Steak House in the Inn on Broadway. Our 12th wedding anniversary, and I wanted something special for my wife. Parking is not an issue. Large free lot with a side entrance to the building. This is a nicely renovated old building, previously the University Club. We arrived an hour before our reservation and enjoyed sitting at the bar with cocktails. Excellent selection, friendly service. We were sat for our reservation on time. The dining room is comfortable. Tables are NOT jammed together. My wife and I could easily speak to each other without raising our voices. What a wonderful thing. We were greeted by the sommelier and our server Kelvin. Drinks freshened, water, and truly DELICIOUS bread with butter and roasted garlic. We both ordered Wagyu Filets. My wife likes rare, I like well done. Both were correctly cooked. Mine came with a horseradish cream sauce, and it was so good. Short of this, the filets were EXCELLENT. We had sides of creamed spinach and asparagus, both perfect. Makes my mouth water thinking about it. For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate cake, with raspberry and the perfect scoop of ice cream. Service throughout our 2 hr dinner was very nice. One improvement, please decrumb the table after taking the dinner plates. Honestly this was the only thing lacking. The plates were hot, the food was perfect. We really did enjoy, and we will be back!
Great steaks, sides and drinks. Will be back again.
The restaurant was excellent! Small restaurant/bar with a cool vibe. Steaks were great!! Cooked perfectly!!! The waygu beef empanadas were not that impressive, the crab cake was excellent. The steaks are a can’t miss! Service was great. Definitely recommend
We had the most amazing meal here last night. We ordered oysters to start, a large dry-aged ribeye, a petite ribeye, onion rings, and mushrooms. Everything was absolutely incredible. Obviously this place is pricy, as it’s a traditional steakhouse. However, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We will definitely come back for special occasions!
High end steakhouse in the Inn on Broadway. We had some light fare and drinks and everything was delicious. Jen, our bartender, was great!
Went on a Saturday night, week before Christmas with my wife for dinner just before a show at the Geva. Appreciated that the tables aren’t crammed together (no doubt owing to the face that all meals come out on trolleys rather than being carried by staff) but not eating on top of the table next to you makes it so much easier to relax and not strain to hear conversation. We had the seafood bisque and the calamari for appetizers. Calamari was excellent and the bisque I would describe as good rather than great. The bread and the butter/oil was very tasty as well. Having an on-site baker makes a world of difference. We each had the filet trio for dinner. Outstandingly well done. Cooked to a perfect mid-rare and each filet (au poivre, maitre de butter and Oscar style) were each better than the last. We had the mushrooms and the onion rings as sides and they were both tremendous. The onion rings especially are a must have, liberally seasoned with shaved cheese and a terrific crunch to them. Mushrooms perfectly cooked and made a nice vegetable to mop up the remaining sauce at the end. Did not have dessert or drinks as we needed to make the rising of the curtain, but the desserts are made in house and looked outstandingly good. The valet was quick and polite while bringing the car back. This is fine dining steakhouse fare so don’t plan on leaving for under $200 for dinner, but it’s worth it. Staff was polite and attentive, and the decor was tastefully done up with some Christmas-y themed trees in the window. A great location and a great dinner. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Best steak in Rochester. Of course the cuts are a step below the high end Vegas or New York City cuts. The dry aged cuts have good flavor. If you want to splurge a bit, I'd recommend renting the library room. It was great for my parent's 50th anniversary. You can hear each other talk and your waiter gets an assistant. The main restaurant seemed a bit loud and crowded for the price point. The dessert cart is impressive. It has quality dishes and liquors. If I have any critiques, I would say our primary waiter seemed a bit nervous serving the private room, but he did just fine. The dessert cart confusingly had aperitifs (before dinner liquors) and digestifs (after dinner liquors) but did have a prominently displayed bottle of Louis XIII. These details didn't take away from the experience. Overall, one cut above a Morton's or Ruth Chris of most average sized cities.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could, this was the best meal I had in Rochester. The ambiance was nice and Jeff was one of the best servers I've ever had. The steak was phenomenal, the calamari and crab cakes were so fresh but the real star was the bananas foster dessert. I will absolutely be back here, I can't recommend it enough.
Had a great dinner at Tournedos! The decor is old school, but slightly updated. They have a lot of retro things, like a dessert cart, which is so convenient and cute. They have such a wide variety of steaks (they were delicious!) and a lot of other entrees that sounded excellent. They even have A5! The drinks and sides (Brussels were surprisingly amazing) were also very good. The service was fast and good. They even had vegan gelato! If there is a special occasion, I'll definitely go here again!
We went there for the food tasting for our wedding. We sampled many things: salmon, chicken milanese, stuffed chicken and pork medallions. For sides we had truffle smashed potatoes, vegetable risotto and grilled asparagus. We also were able to try The staff was friendly and Danielle is amazing. The food was fantastic definitely a nice place to check out.
Tournedos is better than it’s ever been. Food is much better compared to previous years. Management graciously gave us a tour of the beautiful rooms and party rooms that are available to rent.
What a wonderful restaurant! Beautiful inside. Fireplace was in the room we were in. Seafood Bisque was Just Amazing. 8oz tenderloin was cooked perfect. We had side dishes to pass that were delicious. They had a tasty Porter on tap and a very good IPA also. Loved the experience. Enjoy
Can't say much re. consistency, but the one meal I had here was outstanding. Think a low-key 1980s steakhouse frequented by Texas oil barons who hope to appear cosmopolitan without having to deal with New York. Think less lone star, cocaine, brass, or even modern Italian design, and more of an old world, foodie-curious but tradition-friendly, wine-forward type of joint. Food was absolutely top notch, and the service matched perfectly. Wouldn't want to dine like this every night, but it was perfect for the date I was on, and we agreed we'd return without hesitation.
You might miss the restaurant if you are not a guest at the hotel. The signage is rather small and hence why I gave the location 4 stars. I experienced outstanding service all around! The parking attendant, the maître D, and waiter were all attentive and set the tone for the evening. The theme of the room was in a Victorian style setting. Music played softly in the background amongst candle lit tables. Very polished and clean environment. The menu had an excellent variety of food and libations. Make sure someone chooses the crab cake for an appetizer. Bon appétit!
Food was absolutely incredible here! Steak was cooked perfectly and the seafood dishes were delicious. Our server Megan was very knowledgeable, so friendly, attentive, and just great overall!
Absolutely fabulous and decadent with phenomenal service. Came here for a graduation dinner. Top notch. Couldn’t have been a better experience. The dry aged Kansas strip was perfect. All of us were blown away.
My husband and I went for our anniversary and this was our first time here. The service, from the minute we walked in, was excellent! Our waitress was great and stopped by to check in with us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Our food was great. I got the domestic wagyu strip steak and oh my god it was the best steak I’ve had! I also got a side of mashed potatoes, which was enough for both of us! My husband got the salmon and he said his was great as well! We will definitely come back here again!
Love, Love, Love this place... been coming here for years and I can truly say it's one of the most consistent places with friendly staff! The food is always outstanding! GREAT STEAKS! They are under new ownership and I've been there twice since, they seem to be doing a very good job. They've made some revamps... all good... I'm actually heading up there this Friday (my Meat day!) And I can't wait! Perfect place for a night out w/ that special someone or even w/ Friends/Family for a good time! This photo was actually my last meal there... incredible!
I had the F1 Wagyu New York Strip. The seasoning was on point, Even though it was an F1 graded Wagyu, a hybrid between Angus and Wagyu, it wasn't bad. Drinks were awesome. The appetizers were awesome as well.
Tournedos is the fine dining experience you wish you felt every time you went out for a meal. From the moment we pulled up to the valet we knew it was going to be a great evening. The staff is extremely kind and personable. The ambiance and atmosphere inside was incredible. The crab cake was the best we have ever had. We vacation in Maine every summer strictly for the seafood and this crab cake was better than anything we have experienced there. My scallops and her filet were both outstanding and cooked perfectly. The side of onion rings we shared were fantastic, especially with the Cajun dipping sauce. I wrote down in our reservation that we would be there celebrating my fiancés birthday and they brought us over a complimentary champagne toast towards the end of our meal. Overall there was not a single thing we could complain or fret about. We both agreed it was the best date night and dinner we have had in our five years together. This will absolutely be our new go-to spot for celebrations and any time I just want to eat good and feel good while I am doing it.
If your looking for a luxurious birthday or a romantic dinner or if your simply fortunate in Rochester, this is a great try. The esthetic is old money and charm. Food was great and light on the ingredients however still decadent. I recommend Order 2 of the sauces that come with the lobster tail it was divine. 😋 I ordered the mirabelle champagne bottle which is one of the more affordable champagnes to purchase ($70), oysters, shrimp, a wagyu filet mignon, lobster tail, cheesecake dessert. The staff I found to be professional and proactive. There was always someone passing by to clean our table and make sure we were good. (Love that) overall, I recommend this spot to you. 🙂
Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a memorable night out! The food was absolutely exceptional—every dish we tried was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. From appetizers to dessert, you can tell the ingredients were top quality. Our server, Benjamin, had fantastic recommendations, helped us navigate the menu with ease and took great care of us. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with music at just the right level for conversation, and beautiful artwork. Great wine selection too—everything came together perfectly for our graduation celebration!
I stay AND eat here whenever I visit Rochester. I love this place - they treat you like royalty and are so kind. I special shoutout to bartender Tyler -he’s a genius and a true mensch.
Tyler made the best drinks i’ve had since being in Rochester! Service and atmosphere was 10/10.
The service and meal were amazing! The staff were very personable and caring! Our server Faiszon, and the assistant general manager Hector provided a great experience! I would highly recommend Gio’s Prime 26.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The food was very tasty. Our server Benjamin was exceptional.
From the decor, service and food, it was top notch. If you love Ramon Santiago's artwork, the dining area is full of his gorgeous paintings. The wait staff is knowledgeable and professional with suggestions. We had the crab cake and calamari appetizers which were both fantastic. The wagu burger and the Pancetta fettuccine was delicious. We topped it off with chocolate truffles. Highly recommend for a Special evening or just when you are looking for a quiet dinner.
🎮🔥 INTRO “Alright y’all, welcome back to Boss Fights N Bites. This one was special—this was my birthday dinner, so I came looking for a real final boss experience. Tonight’s challenger? Gio’s Prime 26 in Rochester, New York. Let’s get into it.” 📍🏙️ LOCATION + FIRST IMPRESSION “Gio’s Prime 26 is located right in downtown Rochester on Broadway, super easy to find. As soon as you pull up, you already know you’re walking into something upscale—this is not a casual pop-in spot, this is a planned night out.” 🚗 PARKING (IMPORTANT PART) “Parking was smooth. There’s street parking and nearby garages, and depending on the night, valet is sometimes available, which is clutch downtown. No circling the block forever, no stress—huge plus when you’re dressed up and hungry.” ⏰ WHEN TO GO “This is definitely a dinner spot. We went in the evening, and that’s the move—especially for birthdays, date night, or celebrations. If you want it quieter, go earlier. If you want full vibe, later dinner hits.” 🏰 THE ARENA (ATMOSPHERE) “Inside, the vibe is upscale but comfortable. Dim lighting, classy setup, not loud or chaotic. You can actually talk, enjoy your food, and feel like the night matters.” 🍞 OPENING MOVE (BREAD SERVICE) “They start you off with warm bread, olive oil, and butter. Soft inside, light crust outside. Simple, clean, and the perfect way to open a birthday meal.” 🥗 FIRST PHASE (CAESAR SALAD) “We followed that up with a Caesar salad—crisp romaine, creamy dressing, good crunch, not overdressed. Simple but executed right.” 🥩⚔️ THE FINAL BOSS (BIRTHDAY STEAK) “For my birthday, I went all in with the porterhouse, half ribeye, half New York strip, cooked medium rare. The ribeye side was rich, juicy, and full of flavor. The New York strip was firm, beefy, and clean. Perfect sear, warm red center, no sauce needed. Two different steaks, both done right on the same plate.” 🍟 SIDE QUEST (FRIES) “Fries came out hot, crispy, seasoned just right. Simple side, but they played their role perfectly.” 🍝❤️ CO-OP MODE (WIFE’S DISH) “My wife had the fettuccine with breaded chicken. Creamy pasta, smooth sauce, and the chicken was crispy outside, juicy inside. Comfort food, elevated.” 🍰🎂 BIRTHDAY FINISHER (CARAMEL CHEESECAKE) “We ended the night with the caramel cheesecake—rich, creamy, balanced sweetness. Perfect way to close out a birthday dinner.” 🏆 FINAL VERDICT “If you’re in Rochester, NY and you’re looking for a place to celebrate—birthday, anniversary, date night—Gio’s Prime 26 delivers. Great food, smooth parking, strong service, and an atmosphere that feels worth the money.” 🎖️ BOSS RATING “Gio’s Prime 26 gets a 9.5/10 Boss Rating. Birthday approved. Final boss respected.” 🎮 OUTRO “If you’ve been here, drop your go-to order. If not—now you know where it’s at, when to go, and what to expect. This is Boss Fights N Bites… and this boss fight was a win.”
We had not been back to "Tournedos" for a while. Our first visit to Gio's was a nice surprise. Attentive service, very pleasant atmosphere and excellent food. The wine selections were expertly chosen - just not the usual stuff. It's not cheap but well worth it. We'll definitely be back again.
Anthony was my head waiter, I appreciated the flawless execution of experiences we had at dinner. I’m the type of foodie that likes a lot of courses verse one or two it was all delivered in a way that my wife and I loved! Thank you Anthony service was great
Excellent service, excellent food , romantic and upscale , beautiful ambiance. Cocktail was on the small side for the premium that you're already paying. Other than that, a great restaurant .
Went to Gio Prime 26 for our anniversary and had a great experience. The service was excellent and the servers were very friendly and welcoming. We got the Wagyu steaks and they were amazing. Drinks were great too, and they were very accommodating with our food restrictions. Highly recommend!
My husband surprised me with dinner at Gio’s Prime 26 for my birthday after I raved about my high tea experience there. The Inn, itself, is lovely. Decorated beautifully for Christmas and well kept. I would love to go back to stay overnight. First and foremost was how easy it was to park. Although they offer valet services (we didn’t realize they did), we were able to park quickly and easily. Just a short walk to the front door. The hostess was warm and welcoming and we were seated quickly. From there, the service was attentive, warm and responsive. Scott is a fabulous waiter and, assisting him, Anthony was pleasant and helpful. I would go back just for these two. There is little that impresses me more than great service and I will overlook a bit to get it. Luckily, we didn’t have to overlook anything. The French Onion soup was tasty, very hot (I hate lukewarm food) and filling. We split this appetizer. Each Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked and the bordelaise sauce was to die for. My husband recommended the creamed spinach, which we would normally not have ordered, but he heard it was very good from the reviews. It did not disappoint! It was exceptional. Although the potatoes au gratin were a bit bland, a little extra salt fixed that. The crème brûlée and butterscotch pudding were just the right amount of wonderful to cap off the meal. We each had one drink and a glass of wine. Again, the drinks were very well made and generous pours. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Long review, but this restaurant is a real gem. Again, the service alone made it stand out. Although a higher price point than some other restaurants it was worth it to feel like you’re in your own private world. I would absolutely return.
Outstanding restaurant under new ownership- it used to be Tournados. Great dry aged steaks are their specialties. It is pricier than a regular place and worth every penny. The hand crafted cocktails are the best I have ever had. Their chocolate old fashioned has separated batches of bourbon infused and frozen, then thawed and strainer. Don't miss out on thus place!
Very nice, low lit atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Staff was at the table often take care of needs or requests, pouring water, etc .. steaks were prepared as desired, very tender and a nice sauce to go with the bacon wrapped filet mignon. We also received complimentary champagne, a small dish of creme brulee with a candle and 2 small truffles for our anniversary. Making our 36th anniversary special. A bit expensive, everything is ala carte. But we knew that before going. We had been there in the past as Tournedos and will go again. Definitely recommend.
We had a private party in the parlor room. It was decorated very pretty and elegant. The food was excellent and we were able to customize the menu for our event and they were able to accommodate for a seafood allergy in our party as well. It was easy to orchestrate this event and Yvonne was very helpful and answered all our questions in a timely manner. We would recommend for any occasion!
My husband Ibrahim and I dined here for our first wedding anniversary and the staff was so very kind. Thank you to Hector the Assistant General Manager who engaged with us from the very beginning of our visit, extending such a warm welcome while also sharing information about some of the exciting events they have going on! Also our waiter Faiyzon was so amazing and fun! The food was immaculate, and we would recommend the rib eye steak which was aged to perfection. Thank you for our visit!
My family and I visited Gio’s Prime 26 steakhouse while staying at the Inn on Broadway. The staff were wonderful. Upon greeting our table, they asked if we were celebrating anything in particular to which we informed them we were celebrating our friends getting married and so they brought us prosecco for a cheers. They offer an extensive wine list and signature cocktails. For appetizers we ordered a dozen oysters, crab cake, and fried calamari. The oysters were very high quality and they offered three different types of oysters - all very flavorful. The crab cake and fried calamari were great. I highly recommend any of these appetizers. I ordered the American Wagyu NY Strip with a Lobster tail for my meal (you can turn any meal into surf in turf as they offer seafood pairings of lobster tail, grilled shrimp, and crab). The steak was cooked medium rare as I ordered it and was seasoned to perfection, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! My wife ordered the risotto which was top notch. Our friends ordered the Dry Aged Porterhouse, considering they didn’t leave anything but the bone I think it’s safe to say it was delicious. For desert we shared bananas foster and cheesecake. The cheesecake was good but the banana’s foster was to die for. I’m a sucker for a good banana’s foster and love when a steakhouse offers it on the desert menu. Our server was highly attentive and also very entertaining. Every one of the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. If you’re in Rochester and looking for a wonderful steakhouse, look no further!
The food is incredible and the service is excellent. However, our table was in the back by the kitchen and all we could hear all night were dishes clattering and servers grabbing ice from the freezer. When you're paying for an expensive meal, you want the ambiance to match the quality of the food. I wish they would do something to muffle the noise - turn up the music, build a wall instead of a curtain. Do something to provide a better dining experience.
The food was excellent. The service was solid but not great. Had the calamari app, cooked perfectly. Had a light batter on it, and the sauce was excellent. Had a Ceasar salad (yes with anchovy cause it's not a Ceasar salad w/o). It was a little under dressed and didn't have quite enough shaved parm. Yes, I'm being picky! Lastly, I had the strip Wagyu special with an au poivre sauce. They are very adamant about how you order your steak temps. Medium, they say, is a light pink center which to me is medium, some pink. I like medium rare but opted for medium since I didn't want raw. Glad I did because there was nothing "pink" in the center of my steak as it was cooked medium rare. So pat on my back that I got it exactly the temp I wanted. The takeaway here is error on the side of caution. Steak was absolutely fantastic. Zero complaints. The beer choices are limited but solid. The bourbon pours were nothing special with the best non run of the mill offers being Stagg or Lee. At $33-$40 a pour, they should do better. Not asking for Pappy or Masters Keep but you could have something like knob 18, Weller 12, or Russell's 12. Something worth a $40 pour. The area is not the greatest, so keep your head on a swivel when leaving. All in all, it was a great experience, but it was far from perfect, and for the prices being paid, it should be flawless and perfect, especially on a Tuesday evening when it was not that busy. If I am ever back in that area again, I'd return again.
The only issue here was the waiter, who was so off we felt uncomfortable. He had ZERO personality, friendliness, was stone faced the 2.5 hours it took for meal. It was so off-putting. The helper he had was so friendly, professional, polite and sweet, we wished she was our server. Gave an extra star for her service. One other issue, expect to have a cash price, and card price on bill. The increase for credit card was shocking, have never encountered this before, anywhere. Felt like a slap on a bill close to 500.00 All from apps, meal, sides, deserts were very good. The calamari app was the best I've ever had. For the price and reputation of this establishment, you would expect to be treated better.
We went as a large group and had a pre-determined menu. And sides served in group bowls. The photo is of all the items that I put together. The food was good but not really worth the price tag. The sides were better than the wagyu. Service was attentive, not much personality but she took very good care of us. I wouldn't go back if I was paying the bill but as a corporate event, sure.
Fabulous fabulous service. (Yes, I did say Fabulous twice!) Ask for balsamic dressing with the beet salad to take it over the top delicious. Fabulous dry aged steak. Wonderful atmosphere. My only complaint was the bisque was not as creamy dreamy flavorful & not as much actual seafood meat in it as I've had here before in years past...not sure if the recipe (or chef) was changed or if it was an off night for bisque. That said, I'd go again for a special occasion.
Me and my girlfriend visited the city of Rochester to attend a concert and stayed at the Broadway Inn (Tournedos is in the same building) and I made a reservation to the restaurant for a dinner date before the event. At first arrival we were seated promptly and the restaurant seemed nice. The decor was hit or miss but at the very least a conversation piece. Our server came over and was very nice. The menu seemed enticing as I've read a few good reviews and figured the food had to be great. At the suggestion of the server I ordered the Wagyu NY Strip. I paired it with their Mac n cheese with the Wagyu empanadillas for the table and another appetizer i can't remember off the top of my head. I consider myself to have a good palette, especially when it comes to steak, so I was excited for the cut. After a couple of mojitos our appetizers came. Both appetizers were good but left a little to be desired. My steak finally made an appearance after what seemed like a little bit but I was excited to try it out. I was underwhelmed. I expected a more tender strip, and it just didn't hit the spot like I expected it to. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Overall the food was good but not deserving of 5 stars. I was left with more to be desired but not unhappy.
Food was excellent, but service was very slow. Waiter seemed to deliberately ignore us and was not friendly. Some of the details of a fine restaurant were missing, such as crumbing the table between courses and offering a taste of the wine before it was poured. Despite the good food, I would hesitate to invite guests.
The food and ambience are excellent. The wait staff was attentive and competent. My only constructive feedback is that I don't enjoy the mandatory valet parking (which becomes an issue when leaving with big parties) and poor communication when scheduling large group dinners. If these issues were rectified I'd happily give it 5 stars.
Immaculate vibes and tasty food. We had an incredible waiter named Derek who was working by himself and still managed to do a great job serving us. We had the steak dinner for two which came with the rib steak, a bottle of sauvignon blanc, a salad, fettuccine Alfredo and shrimp cocktail. We wanted to try appetizers so we got the calamari and oysters as well. The calamari was delicious. The oysters were okay but I feel a bit overpriced honestly ( $22 for 6 oysters) . I was a fan of the food but I was slightly disappointed in the steak. It was cooked perfectly but I think it could’ve been a bit more flavorful being that it is a steak house. All in all, I didn’t try anything that I disliked! Tasty food and great service. I would go again and try a different cut of steak.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere with impeccable decor. Easy open parking. I had the spicy margarita and crab cake both were absolutely delicious. The crab cake was the best I have had in Rochester 5 out 5 hands down. The server Tyler was nice, giving a rich history of the restaurant. The only disappointing part was Tyler did not share the happy hour menu until I asked about specials. Had he done this it would of been 5 out 5 for my experience.
The remodel creates a loud room with little privacy. Food was decent but not what it used to be or what you’d expect from a higher end steakhouse. Wrong orders placed at our table and our appetizers wondering around the dining room not knowing where to be placed. Waiting 20 minutes for a check. Overall decent, just not best in class.
Booked for anniversary and after settling in we were hungry and excited to eat a nice steak. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed… Tired and hungry we ended up ordering door dash. The Inn was actually very nice. Our room was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. I would have given 5 stars if I had the opportunity to try a steak or been informed. The restaurant is closed on Sunday, I hope this helps someone out.
I’m torn on how to review this restaurant. The steak was phenomenal, and it is a steakhouse, so on one hand that should prevail. However… We eat out a lot, and frequent steakhouses everywhere we travel to. We always order lobster bisque, if it’s an option, and we did so here. This was the worst lobster bisque we ever had. Though it did have a lot of seafood in it (shrimp, crab, scallops, in addition to lobster, which was unexpected since it was listed as lobster bisque, and not a seafood bisque), and they didn’t skimp, the bisque, itself (and the feature of the dish), was watery and bland. I wish I was exaggerating when I say this, but it tasted like they had a couple spoonfuls of actual bisque left in the pot and decided to add 2 cups of water to make two bowls out of it. Seriously disappointing for $22 a bowl. I suppose what really bothers me is that when a server asked us how everything was, I told them everything was exceptional, except for the lobster bisque, which was just awful, and though they said “we appreciate the feedback because it’s a new recipe”, didn’t seem to actually care. A manager didn’t bother to follow up or anything. For contrast, I’m the type of person who would usually lie in that situation and politely say everything was great. Again, everything else was fantastic, including dessert, but when you’re dining at a high-dollar steakhouse, the bar is high and they should be getting it right on everything. The chef should be embarrassed to have served that bisque. I ordered the dry-aged ribeye and my partner order the filet mignon. Both were cooked to the perfect medium rare temperature that we ordered and had a perfect crust. Very tender, flavorful, juicy, and delicious. We also order the creamed spinach and butternut squash, both of which were spectacular as well. For dessert we had the apple crisp and pistachio panna cotta. The desserts were outstanding. Perfect textures and full of flavor!
Post covid excuses are getting old. The restaurant has been opened for many years. Numbers were not the problem. The staff were tripping over each other. We had three different people coming to our table. The servers didn't seem to communicate so when we asked for anything I guess they thought the other server would do it. The wine never came until mid meal and that was after frequent reminders. My entre (three pieces of meat) was presented on a long skinny tray so the "family style" sides and the meat had no where to go. I had to ask for a dinner or bread plate. The food was very good and there was enough to bring boxes home.
We went to celebrate birthday, we got a nice table, service Was good, bread was delicious . We got steaks, I asked the waiter how small is their petite ribeye and he assured me it’s about 12-14 oz so not that small, and I ordered it. We got our steaks and they were just great and cooked perfectly. Then we got our bill and I noticed they charged me for wagyu ribeye instead of petite. (Which was $30 more) We asked waiter if it was a mistake, he came back within 5 minutes and said that he took our sides off the bill ($25) and that he took off even more than he should have , like he was doing us a favor . We didn’t argue because of $5 of course. But the way he handled situation, was very disappointing. The manager (or hostess) gave us not a very pleasant look and nobody even said goodbye to us when we were leaving. I don’t think we will be coming back, the birthday celebration was kind of ruined because of this type of treatment
The staff were very good. But It’s clearly not the place it was under new ownership, which is unfortunate. The restaurant revamp is utterly tacky & cheap. All the ambience is gone. The furniture in the lobby with its Versace gone wild from the 90s is hideous. The class of a once beautiful restaurant is gone. Our meal showed cost cutting at its finest. The tuna which was once flown in daily from Hawaii is local shopped at best. The potato side was delicious, the Brussel sprouts were burnt & soft. We did enjoy having the cauliflower steak addition & it was delicious. The table cloths are tacky polyester & the god awful color scheme just makes one wonder who’s in charge of the interior. We waited too long for our dishes to be cleared with empty glasses standing, the crumbs used to be cleared from the table for the next course, but alas it’s not the same anymore. And no chocolates with your check! Which was such a touch of class. I doubt we’ll return, so sad to see this place take the turn it has.
Came here for my wife's and my 1st wedding anniversary. Not what I was hoping for food wise. I ordered French onion soup that was very nice. Followed by a dry aged rib steak with 3 colossal shrimp. Now here is where they lost me. The steak was as good as a longhorn steak. It didn't have any of the funky concentrated flavor a dry aged steak should have. The shrimp didn't come out with the meal and I had to ask for them. My wife ordered the filet trio and lobster tail. Again we had to ask for the lobster and waited for them to have to cook it because they forgot again. the beer I wanted was out so the waitress suggested another one from the same brand. It was horrible and sour not good. They did take it off the bill. Over all not impressed for a $430.00 bill. All in all I don't think I will be back again.
The atmosphere and staff were nice and kind. However, the service was extremely slow we were there for such a long time waiting for one thing to another. The scallop pasta dish was very disappointing flavor and portion wise. $38, and it probably wouldn't fill a 12 year old. I got the lamb, and even though it was yummy it wasn't worth the price and you don't even get a salad or anything with it. We spent a large amount of money and walked out still hungry. Honestly, i wish i knew it was a la carte or i wouldn't of went because it wasnt worth the price even with the vibe/environment The sides were very yummy though def a 9/10. I went for my birthday and they brought out my cake and I told them I'd cut it myself but they brought it in the back to cut it anyway. It took so long we could have cut and ate it by the time they brought it back. Would i go back? No. But I don't regret my experience with my friends and partner. It's always nice to try new places locally.
Went with my boyfriend for our anniversary. I ordered the wagyu burger and he get the filet mignon. My burger came out undercooked, after taking 45 mins to come out. Even though it came out wrong we never heard from the manager. Our waitress Lauren was wonderful and very sweet, she brought us a free dessert. Overall not terrible but also not worth the price .
This is only about the steakhouse. The food was tasty but what absolutely ruined the experience for me was the wait time for food. Our dinner was 2.5 hours long! We ordered the trio and potatoes au gratin and my best guess is the baking time on the potatoes was long but I would have appreciated a warning beforehand. Other restaurants I frequent provide a courteous warning like "this dish will take approximately 40minutes to prepare."
This was the 2nd time we visited the restaurant since it became "Gio's": Cocktails and apps in the lounge. The food was delish: crab cakes, eggplant, wagyu meatballs. This 2nd time though, we were very disappointed with the cocktails. Two of us ordered the white negronis, first time... yummy (though small)! This time seemed weak, not as tasty, small and overpriced. Our friend ordered a martini, and it came in a small "dessert wine" type of glass. Just not what we would expect. Again, small and overpriced. I think this time we had a different bartender than the last time. Service was slow, though our server was so pleasant, just not enough of them. We appreciated Hector, assistant manager, helping out. We will definitely be back because of the food and ambiance but hope to get some better cocktails next time!
The service was nice! I enjoyed the crème brûlée. The meatballs were delicious. The steak was suppose to be well done but it was over cooked and dry. The Brussel sprouts were good. I also enjoyed the love potion, signature drink. My biggest dissatisfaction was with the steak ( it’s a steakhouse) and mash potatoes. The mash potatoes tasted like they came out of a box. This place has a beautiful ambiance, great for a date night. The food is also not seasoned well. For the price, I wouldn’t return.
We only ate at the Tournedos restaurant, and didn't stay at the hotel. I was curious to taste an $82 8 oz. Wagyu filet mignon steak for the first time, thinking that this was the place to do it since they are self-proclaimed "Steakhouse dining at its finest". The waitress said that a "rare" steak would be blue and cold in the center, while "medium rare" would be red and warm in the center. These would translate to "bleu" and "saignant" in France (where I have lived as an expatriate for 35 years). I opted for medium rare. The steak arrived completely charred on the outside, and barely warm. A half inch diameter sphere at the center corresponded to the waitress's description. The rest was "well done" with the black exterior. I can only guess that the steak had been grilled in flames, rather than seared on the outside, then cooked off the flames (for example in an oven). The meat was tasty but very disappointing. The $14 "thousand layer" potatoes were also disappointing - it looked like they had been cooked in a tray and also arrived tepid. There were maybe 7 thick layers. I prefer this dish with thinly sliced potatoes, slathered with butter between layers, with portions cooked separately allowing for crisping and caramelization on the exterior. However, another diner ordered grilled octopus which was excellent, flavorful, with the tender texture of crabmeat. The social context did not permit me to send the steak back. I should have followed the lead of my native Rochester hosts, and ordered non-meat items.
The atmosphere was great, but the service for a fine dining restaurant was subpar. When paying $300 for a meal for two people, you expect the service to be impeccable. That was not our experience. The first indication was that the server did not take down our order, he tried to remember it instead. This was the focal point of our poor experience. We ordered one American Wagyu Filet with an add-on of the large shrimp and one Japanese Wagyu filet, plus a couple side dishes. When our meal was delivered, the shrimp were not. I let that go because I didn't want to wait and let my filet get cold. The Japanese Wagyu came pre-sliced and rare with a hot rock on which to cook it ourselves. We've ordered Japanese Wagyu in much larger cities (New York, Detroit, Chicago) and this was the first time it was served rare and required us to cook it ourselves. The downside with this practice is that placing the thin wagyu strips on the hot rock immediately cooked it to a medium due to how thinly sliced it was. It was impossible to get a mid-rare, so we either had to eat it rare or overcooked. Next, we ordered two desserts. The Apple crisp and the chocolate dream cake. The Apple Crisp was delivered. After 10 minutes the server saw I had not taken a bite, and asked if something was wrong. I pointed to my companion and said "Yes, he hasn't received his dessert yet". To which the waiter replied "Oh, shoot. I forgot to put it in." That was the second time in one seating that the waiter forgot part of my order. One mistake in fine dining is a big enough faux pas, twice is inexcusable.
The staff could not have been kinder or more considerate and attentive. That being said, the food for the most part was mediocre at best. To celebrate my birthday, my daughter treated me to dinner. We ordered the dry aged rib steak madium rare and the baked branzino. The steak was closer to medium and had no dry aged flavor. The fish was dry and tasteless. The steak was overly salty, charred and had no beef flavor. The creamed spinach was delightful and the thousand layer potatoes were tiny but tasty. The staff heard it was a birthday dinner and treated us to champagne and a birthday cannoli, demonstrating the high level of service provided. However, the main foods did not reach that standard. Cannot recommend.
My wife and I would visit Tournedos for special occasions, and due to the quality service and experience, we rarely chose to go anywhere else. Once Tournedos changed hands, everything changed. The service became slower, the food was lackluster and the spirits became ridiculously overpriced. Seriously, the scotch's we ordered were nearly double the price over any of the other fine dining establishments in Rochester. Also, I'm fairly certain we were not served prime beef. It's sad to see, as we spent so many early anniversaries, birthdays and occasions here, but after two highly lackluster dinners we will no longer be visiting Tournedos. The new management/owners dropped the ball here. Go to Max's, Char or Black & Blue instead.
This place is bordering on the 1 or 2 star level. First of all, it's VERY overpriced, which is a knock from the start. Now price would not be an issue if the quality matched up the price, but it didn't, and it fell pretty short. I opted for the Tournedo trio. Although I found the sauces to be OK, I'm not really a sauce on my steak kind of guy. The 3 filets were also unfortunately over cooked, I requested medium rare, they were more medium. In addition, if you look at the Oscar style in my picture, you can see that it was cut in half. The steak came like this and I don't know of a single steakhouse that cuts a steak in half and presents it that way to a customer. Not only did I find it unacceptable, but I took it as they just pieced 2 small pieces together to equal 1 steak for me. For the price they're asking, I find this completely unacceptable. So why 2 stars instead of 1? The crab cake and creamed spinach were home runs. First, the crab cake is all lump meat and no filler. It really hit the spot and was executed well. Second, the creamed spinach was some of the best I have ever had. I could have eaten a gallon of it. Everything else I had was mediocre at best. Having eaten at over 100 steakhouses, this is up there with one of the worst. I understand it used to be good, but I think I was 5 years too late in going.
Spent hundreds to eat under cooked risotto and look at other people’s back sides. They were out of several items already at 7:30. We were seated at a low table in a busy bar even though we had a reservation elsewhere. We spent the evening having our table bumped into, a woman stood with her hand on the back of my chair loudly talking to her friends during most of the risotto. I man used our table to sign his bar tab, next to food we were eating. We’ve eaten at this restaurant (previously name) on Valentine’s Day for years, this year we joked about how it was the worst VD meal we’ve had in 26 years together and we need to find a new restaurant.
Disappointed. We pulled up in an Orange Corvette with reservations. They park us up in front. We are well dressed for the occasion. Sat us in a special booth in the lounge. No one came to serve us for 25 minutes. They forgot about us. Not even drinks! So we left. No one noticed we left? Maybe they will notice this review? We went somewhere else and they took us right away!
I used to go to the steakhouse restaurant called Tournadoes, which is what this place used to be with an amazing Italian chef. Then unfortunately, he had to sell the restaurant due to a death in the family, and new owners purchased it. Now they have a new chef named Jose and it’s terrible. I really miss the old version. The steak was overcooked, but they still charge you $90. I asked for medium and I got medium well. For $90 it should be perfect. The pasta is terrible and not the quality of what it used to be. Some of the best menu items have been removed. The bread has been changed for the worse. The burger was so charred you can’t even taste the pork belly inside of it because all you taste is burnt char. The meatballs are not that tender even though supposedly they’re Wagyu. The eggplant appetizer was good. Asparagus was good. Crème brûlée was good, but the pannacotte dessert was not. The fettuccine was low quality. Every attempted Italian food was a terrible mess. The entire meal was so disappointing. I’ll never be going back. The new chef is not even half as good as the prior one. They removed the garlic confit that usually came with the bread which was the best part. The rack of lamb was only a half a rack for $56 and it tasted gamey. This used to be the best steakhouse in Rochester and now it’s not even in the top three. The chef needs to go back to school. I can make a better steak and a better rack of lamb at home. The scallops were good, but the corn it came with tasted like a Mexican flavor which did not make sense with the rest of the dish. $125 per person on average . With tax and tip it was $440 for only three individuals -a complete rip off. This restaurant’s best days are behind them.
If you’re looking to spend a lot of money at a restaurant that is old, tired, and has mediocre food then you’ve found the right place. Perhaps Tornados was once a grand restaurant, but those days are long behind it. Now the place smells like a musty old barn, the furniture is broken down and uncomfortable, the drink list is something out of the 1980’s (if they actually show it to you), the restrooms are dim, dated, and spooky, the uninspired menu average at best, and the staff could care less. All that for some of the highest prices of any restaurant in Rochester. We made reservations at Tournedos for what we expected to be a special evening. What we actually experienced was just the opposite. Entering the dining room we were hit in the face with a terrible musty smell that permeated the whole meal. The padding on the outdated chairs had worn out years ago so we were literally sitting on the wood frames. Our waiter seemed completely uninterested in his duties. We never received a drink list, never had the menu explained (except to say that several standard steakhouse items were “unavailable”), at each course every person at the table was served the wrong dish, several of dishes were prepared incorrectly for our order, and we always had to ask for silverware and drink refills. He often clumsily reached in front of our faces to grab dishes without a care. The only time he checked on us was when he brought the bill (which included a 4% fee for using a credit card). The food was uninspired and average. Honestly, I could cook a steak at home that would have been better for a quarter of the price. Maybe if the owner would actually put some money into the place, trained the employees about what service at a fine restaurant should be, and upgraded the food this place could be salvaged. But until that happens steer clear – there are much better steak places in Rochester. Unless that is you feel like spending a lot of money for a miserable time.
Has gone way downhill since our last visit there 6 weeks ago. All new staff, inexperienced, slow. We went specifically for the class casino which we'd had before and loved. I ordered 2 planning to make it my entre. They were nothing like the ones I'd had before. The French onion soup had no flavor. Check in, coat retrieval, etc very disorganized.
After many wonderful years of dining here, the service has taken a major turn for the worse. Several less than heart filled management apologizes followed but in the end, a four hour dinner costing $800, a waitress that disappeared for 45 minutes, and a staff member telling us she’s hiding and couldn’t be found was beyond belief. When finally returning, she offered no explanation and informs us she won’t return to our table with the check because she’s having issues. On top of that, our steaks were over-cooked and not the quality that we are accustomed to. Two other tables near us were also noting the significant service deficiencies and little to no oversight of the under-trained staff. Certainly not what you’d expect from a higher end steakhouse. If you’ve enjoyed Tournedos in the past, you’ll likely be very disappointed.
In the past we have always felt the food, service, and ambience were excellent at this fine establishment. This was our first time dining under the new management and all three elements were subpar. This is no longer an upscale fine dining experience. Our wagyu steak that was cooked medium correctly was tough and chewy. It was hard to cut with a steak knife and some parts were not even edible. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were bland. The wine steward and extensive wine list were gone so you are left with 4 white and red wines to choose from. The waiter was unable to provide any insight on the wines. We had a white and a red and both were subpar. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. Even though I confirmed this was a special occasion via phone conversation and online with the restaurant, the staff had no idea we were celebrating. We can no longer recommend this restaurant and will not be dining there again.
Went to try it out over my typical steakhouse and it was my first time and last time... was visited by the star of ratatouille while we were dining. Was told by the server they would get a manager but the manager never came out to address the situation. Then we received our bill and they tried to charge us for our last round of drinks that weren't touched because of the rodent in the restaurant (which they blamed on the construction). We were giving a half hearted apology and 2 desserts for the road even after we told them we didn't want the drinks or desserts we ordered. On top of that the food was average (overcooked steaks)and the service, before the celebrity appearance, wasn't great either. Would recommend if you like dining with animals, waiting 20 minutes for drinks, overcooked food, and bottom tier customer service
Terrible service and awful food. Filet was like a hockey puck with how tough it was. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Prices WAY too high for McDonald’s material food.
What was once one of the best fine dining restaurants in Rochester before the owner unfortunately passed away has become a shell of its former self. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HORRIBLE RESTAURANT!! We have been dining at here for years, not only for special occasions but as regular diners. We have dined all over the world always searching for the best of the best. Unfortunately true fine dining is limited in Rochester. Anyone who knows fine dining would be extremely disappointed since the current owners took over. They may know how to manufacture pasta and pasta sauce but that doesn’t mean they know how to run a fine dining restaurant. Not knowing the restaurant was under new management after the owner’s death we made reservations for our wedding anniversary. Something seemed odd when the women who took our reservation seemed to have no idea what she was doing. I sat on the phone for 10 minutes while she struggled to take a simple reservation for two. The day of our reservation I was nervous about our reservation so I decided to call and confirm two hours before our scheduled arrival. The individual that answered phone said they were closed for renovations. We were astounded, I asked why we were not notified. He said they tried to text everyone but they obviously missed people. No apology just basically acted like he could care less that he just ruined our anniversary. It was going to be impossible to get reservations at any other good restaurant on that short notice. Since at the time I wasn’t aware the restaurant was under new management and we had always had an exceptional dining experience I just figured they were having a one off bad day so I rebooked our reservation. I called and asked to speak to a manager once they reopened and got Charles who promised he would give us the same table we requested when we made the original reservations, again no apologies for what they did to us just agreed to give us the booth we had asked for. Upon arrival when we came back everything seemed “off”. None of the long time professional waiters we knew from dining there often were around, the staff’s professional looking uniforms had been replaced with aprons more indicative of what you see on the employees at the Home Depot. They were now young inexperienced kids, not what you see at fine dining establishments. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before anyone came over to wait on us. Our waiter was clueless, we asked him what happened to the A4 Wago with the Sake pairing, he said they were out of it which we knew was a lie because it wasn’t even on the menu any longer. My husband asked for the wine list, the large selection of fine wines was greatly diminished from what they used to offer. When the so called sommelier came over to push some hokey low budget wine they were offering for the eclipse my husband declined and ordered one of the few decent wines that were still left on the wine list. He asked her what level sommelier she was, she said she was a level 3 sommelier which was a joke. When she brought our $150 bottle of wine over she asked my husband how many glasses we wanted with it, our jaws almost hit the floor. He said to her why on earth are you asking me that, she said many of of customers order it to take home. We were shocked, we were not planning to sit there and drink it out of a bag. We both ordered the $79 tenderloin medium rare. Both steaks were over done and arrived medium. Nothing on the plate, not so much as a garnish just the steak. The entire meal was absolutely horrible!! I’ve had better steaks at Longhorn for a fraction of the price we paid. We spent $525 for this debacle. We should have walked out the door when we walked in because it was obvious something had drastically changed. The other diners were dressed in baseball caps, sneakers and torn jeans, not what you see in a fine dining establishment which was a prelude to the nightmare we were about to experience. This place is Outback with fine dining prices!!
I am sorry to say this was an awful experience and this is a long review. I was not greeted because the staff had their backs to the entrance when I walked in. But Even when three of them turned around and saw me though, nobody said a word until I acknowledged them first and said hello. It was downhill from there. I asked our server what oysters they had that night and he said that he wasn’t sure but he could go check if I wanted him to. I wanted him to, otherwise I would not have asked (no, i didnt say that out loud). When he returned, he gave me the names of two Different varieties fromPEI And one from Massachusetts. I asked What the size and flavor profiles were, but he again said that he did not know, but would go and ask if I wanted him to. Yes, please. When he returned, he told me how big they were. I asked him what their flavor profiles were. He looked at me like I was stupid Or out of line. “The chef isn’t going to know what their flavor profiles are “ he told me, curtly. “Welp, could he At least ask please”? I said as politely as i could manage. It’s worth mentioning that I have a background in hospitality and specifically in management of fine dining restaurants, And it was always our practice for the staff to memorize the location, size, and flavor profiles of the oysters we had each day. Tournedos bills itself as fine dining and is charging nearly $4 for each oyster, But making me feel as though I should have googled all of this information myself if I Didn’t want to Pick my oysters based on whether I liked their respective names. The server ended up bringing a sample of each oyster for me to try. I would have been fine with just a description, but this worked too. i ordered a dozen of one variety and they were delicious. My friend and I Suspected that there might be some sort of recourse For my inquisitiveness, and sure enough it came when my food arrived. I ordered 1.25lbs of king crab legs for $132. But instead of legs, i was given the bodies and joints of the crabs! For those unfamiliar, this part of the crab is edible, but typically used for canning and flavoring other dishes because of its mushy and less sweet texture and flavor compared to the legs. I sent it back and asked for the legs, as that is what is listed on the menu. My mushroom side was so salty it was inedible. Regarding the newly renovated space: completely different vibe now - more modern and clean and light. Overall not bad, but the green table cloths cheapen the space and detract from its aesthetic. We were seated next to a vent that was blowing cold air on us and the room was already chilly. I do not recommend.
I am so sad this is not tournaedos anymore. We absolutely loved it. The food was amazing... Gios prime did not deliver on multiple levels. Service, food atmosphere. Service- waitress acted like it was a problem when we had a question. Food- appetizers were good but entrees were luke warm at best and the $95 steak was cooked uneven. Atmosphere- used to be upbeat and fun it was quiet and sad... they pretended this was just a name change but it's not.
This was the most disappointing dinner i have ever had in my entire life. I’ll just start by saying the “fan favorite” crab cake tastes like a fish they pulled from a fish tank. Is crab supposed to be fishy tasting? I don’t think so. And next our entrees. Omg Delmonico’s Steakhouse blew this place away, which is saying a lot considering it’s a quarter of the price. We were told it would be melt in your mouth and the most flavorful steak we’ve ever had. We got the wagyu strip steak for over $90, and let me just tell you this steak didn’t taste like it was worth over $20. The most dry and unflavorful steak i’ve ever had. We also asked for it to be medium rare and i’ll just say it was not that. And lastly we got the lobster tail, which i’m sure you can guess what im going to say about that. TERRIBLE. Overall this was very disappointing considering we were told by multiple people that had gone to Tornados a long time ago that it was the best meal they ever had. Not sure why they decided to rebrand this restaurant and change everything, BUT DO NOT COME HERE.
We visited Gio’s Prime 26 in Rochester to celebrate a 50th birthday, excited for a high-end dining experience. While the atmosphere and service were good — the staff attentive and knowledgeable, and the bread and beet salad enjoyable — the meal itself was disappointing overall. The arancini was partially spoiled, which was a major turn-off. The strip steak, ordered rare to medium rare, came overcooked and extremely salty. The cauliflower steak was over-seasoned with balsamic, and the sides (creamed spinach, au gratin potatoes, risotto) were overly rich, with the risotto slightly undercooked. The Brussels sprouts were just okay. My guest of honor, a chef with 20+ years of experience, immediately noted that the execution was below expectations for a steakhouse at this price point. For nearly $400 for three people, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. I’ve reached out to the restaurant to provide feedback directly, but the $50 offered refund did not feel reflective of the issues we encountered especially spoiled food and a poorly executed steak.
Disappointing to say the least. The jazz club prior being the highlight of our evening. Table for five on our annual Christmas dinner with friends. Cocktails were fine, ordered entrees right away as we were told the kitchen was backed up. Ordered a bottle of wine between cocktails, in preparation for entrees, ordered appetizer of oysters, which were very good, but the remainder was less than expected. Wine didn't come, waiter actually said the other table was a sommelier, so apparently he took preference. After some legitimate complaints, the wine came, but not without some attitude from our waiter. He was told of our dissatisfaction, and basically said he didn't want to hear our concerns. We were not the only dissatisfied customers, as some customers near us left before the arrival of their entrees. I was shocked, after having worked in the food service industry, at not only the lack of contrition, but the antagonistic nature of our waiter. Of course, the manager became involved, and was most apologetic and accommodating. However, our food was cool, if not cold, one in our party never received his salad, and the overall experience was NOT what was expected. We still enjoyed our time with friends, but will not be going back. Some staffing issues need to be attended to, and if the kitchen cannot keep up that is an issue too. I am loathe to give a bad review, but if it will improve the quality of the service I wish them well in the future. Nice wine selection, good cocktails, and as I said, the jazz before dinner was most enjoyable. The menu items probably would've been delicious if served at the proper temperature. Work to be done in training and hiring, but there are many other choices for now. Good luck in the future.
Our experience went downhill, at our arrival. Booked a table in the lounge, and when we were led to " our table", it hadn't been cleaned yet, so we were diverted to a table in the corner of the dining room. After 20 minutesof being sat , we had yet to see a server. I approached the hostess and was told someone would be right over. Five minutes later, a server arrived and was very apologetic and sincere about the extended wait time. We placed our entire drink and dinner order at that time. After appetizers, I was informed that they were out of my dinner selection and I reselected. When the dinners arrived, two of our parties meals arrived without their sides, and mine arrived cold ( it was supposed to be a hot dish). The sides finally arrived only after they had finished their main dish. The waitress was horrified that my meal was cold and said she'd speak to the manager about it. She also offered us complimentary dessert, but at this point, we had been there for two hours and really just wanted to go home. After approximately ten minutes the server came back and stated that she couldn't locate the manager to notify him about my meal being served cold. I paid the bill and just wanted to go home and put comfy clothes on. This review is in no where a negative for the server. She truly tried to remedy the nonstop issues. The issues that arose are all due to poor training, management and execution. One last thing to make note of, was how annoyingly loud the dining room was. The acoustics are horrible. The only way to communicate amongst ourselves, and the server, was to shout to each other.
Recommend this place for an associate of mine and his lady friend and they were beyond dissatisfied. It was a very disappointing experience. According to my associate, the valet took forever to bring his car, the food took way too long to come out, and for a $300 meal, the service and quality were nowhere near worth it. To top it off, they cut his steak and he didn’t like that they did that..who does that at a fine dining restaurant? Definitely was not a good experience bring back tournedos!
I tried to wait to give this review giving this establishment the benefit of the doubt. While dining at their restaurant someone broke my window and broke into my truck. The manager told me that only the police could view the footage for them. This all happened while security was parked in the parking lot watching a movie on his phone (had to knock on his window to get his attention). They told me to leave my name and number at front desk and day manager would be giving me a call. I waited 2 days then I called and asked to speak to someone. They had no idea what I was talking about so they took my name and number down again. Still haven't heard from anyone. If it was just my car broken into ill understand but it was multiple vehicles broken into starting from 9pm to 10pm. When telling the guard he spoke of other times it's been happening. This is a terrible look on management and the way they make their customers feel safe to enjoy their establishment
Maybe we came in an off night but server seemed nervous abd so did the assistant manager. They didn't bring us bread until we asked way after our appetizer came. The butter was hard. I ordered medium well filet they came medium rare but flavor was great. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes I'd rather have Bob Evans in the box we also had to ask to have them as they forgot them with our meal. The chicken was good but slightly dry. The drinks where strong and the special raspberry cosmopolitan tasted like cough syrup. We did have meatballs for an appetizer and it was great. The servers were very friendly. Ultimately fir a high end steakhouse it just was way below par. I've had high quality meals at bar and grills
Save your money! There was so much bad that I don't even know where to start. We were there for a birthday dinner and there were 6 of us, our first round of drinks didn't come for an hour after being there and the whole experience took 3 hours and we didn't even order appetizers or dessert. Our bill came to over $830 dollars. All of our steaks were overcooked. And 2 of them that were ordered rare and that came out over medium we asked about and were told we could get new ones but then the manager came out and tried to tell us that that is what a rare on a dry aged steak looks like, which was a very light pink but mostly brown. Even though next to the bone which was actually rare was red. Then they brought us 2 new steaks that were barely seared and totally raw besides the sear and totally cold in the middle. We were also told by the server to order the steak as a surf and turf which my girl friend did by asking to make it a surf ant turf with scallops so the steak came out with plain seared scallops on the side of the plate which was fine until we got the bill and were charged the full 90 dollars for the steak and 40 dollars for a scallop entree even though the scallops came with nothing that their scallop entree should come with. We were told by the server that that's just how they do it. And then we saw a full 20% auto gratuity added to the bill, which I've managed resteraunts for 20 years and never seen a 20% auto gratuity (which is usually the least I usually tip anywhere that's decent) but it's usually 15 or 18. But when I informed the server that it's illegal to auto grat without noticing the customers on the menu, she told me that it says it on the website which it doesn't. I could have made a fuss but chose to pay and leave at this point with them now having someone in dining that will tell people not to go there ever. When they could have just did the right thing, they blew it on every level, with the food and the absolutely slow and horrible service. I have been eating out at nice resteraunts my whole life and this is the first time I have ever been compelled to write a review, I normally hate them. Please please please don't experience what we just went through and save your hard earned money!
