Fun place! Sunday night get there early for the salsa and bachata classes, and stay late to practice what you learned. The DJ is cool and the music top notch. Say hi if you see me 🤗.
Such a fun night every time we go! Make sure to reserve a table and/or arrive before 8 PM if you want to be able to sit down.
What a fun night! I was hoping for piano but the stand up comedy was a fun surprise! I'd recommend if you're ever looking for something to do on a Wednesday night!
Really cool place! I don't enjoy going out much anymore but this place was cool and the acts were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will return
Great time on a Friday night. Get there early or reserve a table. Piano players know how to work a crowd and get everyone grooving
Super Fun Vibe!! Cute lil bar - that gets LIT once the alcohol hits and the piano man starts playing the hits 😅👌🏻 Bar staff was fast - and there was no drama. Loved it!
I stood on stage while everyone sang along about how small my manhood is. 10/10 would do again.
Awesome place! The band that played made the place feel so fun and just made our night! Hats off to them!
I checked this place out for the first time with some friends on Valentine's Day. This place is great! So much fun & great atmosphere! I will definitely be back!
We had a blast. Jacob Essary a local upcoming county artist was playing till 9pm. The piano and drum guys where great.
First time there amazing time with the act but bartenders were on the careless side didn’t feel welcome hopefully they’re nicer to the next person
First time there, met some great people, friendly folks, staff was great & loved the entertainment. I had a really good time there & I am definitely going back.
I had a really great time here, good service and awesome music, has a great and happy energy but not annoyingly up beat
Our first visit - loved it! Perfect for those of us in our 30s or 40s. Bar staff was awesome and the piano guy was really good (and funny). We will definitely go back!
I attended Rocky's 1 Year Anniversary celebration & fell in love with the place! Friendly, personal atmosphere....tons of fun singing along with the requested songs! Kinda felt like I had walked into a real-life Cheers. I'll definitely be back!
So fun. They greet you as you walk in and the music is good. Its just two guys singing and playing the drums and piano. Its really a great place to hangout. Hard to find a dance club in RR and this seems to be the place.
One of my favorites In Round Rock. Clean. Usually nice and cool inside temperature wise, feels good, especially on those warm Texas nights. Fast bartenders. Simple drink choices.
Would do again. I enjoyed the cocktails: Rocky's Ruby Royal and the Texas Buck. The live music guy, Kevin was very entertaining and has a great selection of songs as well as original music
The plan was to bar hop on a Saturday night, but the piano bar was just too perfect! My wife and I stayed all night; partly for the great music and atmosphere, partly for the drinks! The man on the keys is incredibly talented and quite the character!
Best night out in Round Rock! Great people, great atmosphere. The only thing they could improve on is space. It is best to reserve a table if you want to go here.
Awesomeness, we will definitely come back!!!!
I had so much fun!!! Requested songs played by two very talented men. Very interactive experience. It was my friend’s bday and it was soooo great! This is her on stage with a birthday song.
Had a blast! First time there and the guys on stage kept the music going the entire night. Great energy! I'm definitely coming back for more.
Be sure to call and reserve a table. It was great to have a place to sit once it got busy. Drinks were okay, not strong so maybe stick to non mixed drinks. The pianist and drummer were talented and the crowd was chill. Dance floor was always jumping. Bring cash and play generously if you want your song request to be played. They don't serve food but you can bring some in.
Our friends insisted that we go, and I couldn't be more glad that we did. The bat staff is great and very attentive, and the musicians are AMAZING. There wasn't a single request they were able to play. This is a great spot to hang out, laugh, enjoy great music, and have a good time. We were entertained the entire night and can't wait to go back!
Rockey's Piano Bar in Round Rock, Texas is a great place to go for a night out. Whether you're looking for live music, drinks, or dancing, you'll find something to enjoy at Rockey's. The atmosphere at Rockey's is lively and inviting. The bar is filled with comfortable seating, great lighting, and a friendly staff. The music is a mix of classic favorites and current hits, all played live on the piano. There's a dance floor, so you can show off your moves while you listen. The drinks selection is impressive, with a variety of beer, wine, and cocktails available. The crowd at Rockey's is a mix of all ages, from college students to older adults. Everyone is there to have a good time, and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. The bartenders are happy to help you find the perfect drink, and the music is always lively. If you're looking for a night out that's a little different, Rockey's Piano Bar is a great choice. The live music, drinks, and dancing make it a great place to spend an evening. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the staff is always helpful. Whether you're looking for a fun night out or just a place to relax and listen to some music, Rockey's Piano Bar is a great option.
Always a great time. It's so nice to be able to park close to a venue without paying to park. None of the homeless drama like downtown Austin. Safe ,clean and affordable drink prices. Downtown Round Rock gets better every year!
I was looking for new bars in the area and happened to find Rockey’s. My friends and I ended up having a wonderful night! The atmosphere was really good and the music was even better. It was pretty busy but that being said the staff was very attentive. I’ll definitely be stopping by again!
Do not come here for food come here for good times with friends and lots of drink variations Also a venue that's committed to hosting quality bands including of course the obvious piano! Not very big so expect as always with downtown Round Rock to find parking somewhere nearby and walk on over Restrooms were magnificent for a bar and probably to highlight for me they were almost near spotless and it's almost unbelievable to say with three stalls in the man's restroom on a packed night! O_O Phenomenal customer service and depending on the night plenty of room for social distancing or just social dancing and mingling. :)
Love the live music , always great vibes,& the tall beautiful bartender makes the best $8MEXICAN CANDY SHOT.WORTH BUYING!!!!
I went to to Rocky's for the 2nd time last night and had a fantastic time. Both times the entertainment was on point, the staff is friendly and the bathrooms are very clean. There aren't many places I can go and really cut loose and dance like I do here. Great energy from the crowd. This will definitely be our new weekend spot to blow off some steam!
Hands down one of the most fun nights I have had in a long time!! Went with a group for my friend's birthday(there were several there that night). Russell Boyd and Mikey Gammon were on fire! The crowd was great and a nice age mix. It was crowded(Saturday night), but everyone was singing and dancing and having a great time. Went home with my stomach hurting from laughing so hard and my voice almost gone from singing. Great venue, great talent and a great time!!
This place is super fun! The piano man and his drummer are stellar! They are the perfect combo or super talented and really funny. The place was packed. Highly recommend! Best piano bar by far in the area!!
Super fun place! Drink prices are decent and the bar staff is friendly. Gets pretty crowded after 9:30 so definitely get there early or reserve a table for 8pm.
So much fun. Amazing bar staff. I have to give the Sarahs credit for taking car of our group. Super fun night for my friends bday
Wao so cool. The version is very similar to Darwis' Piano Bar in downtown Austin. But the music, the place and drinks were the best. I love it!
Great food and drink options, even have Happy Hours *VISIT @Houseofbeautyaustin @Austin360Cam
Sarah is the very best bartender! Even on a very busy night, she made each interaction feel personable. I came in with a group of my gay friends and some of my white friends — it was just a multicultural hue of amazing — Sarah treated us all like we were her best friends. She wowed us with her strawberry shortcake martini and her breakfast shot was on point!
Been to Rockeys four times now and it has never disappointed. I especially love their New Year's events!!
Great place to gather up with friends to celebrate any event!
The music was incredible. Highly recommend this place
If you're looking for a fun evening in Round Rock, this is it!! We have so much fun requesting songs and singing along. The bartenders are fun and the drinks are affordable!
Went for Wednesday comedy night after dinner, was actually a hilarious free show! Austin comedian circuit, pretty cool comedians. Make sure to tip! Great drinks too!
Isn't this the cutest place? They Christmafied the whole bar and it's just so fun. Drinks are great and they also have interesting mocktails made with non alcoholic gin, whiskey and tequila. Next time I will try them!
This place is awesome! The 2-man piano and drums band were not only incredibly talented, they were really funny, too. Their range of music was truly impressive as they fielded requests for all kinds of music. The vibe with the audience was great, with a cluster of ladies dancing right in front of the stage. Nice beer selection and the cocktails were good. Overall, a great way to spend the evening!
Enjoyed a much needed evening out with a friend. The opening music from a single musician was very good. When the 2nd musicians took stage it was so amazing how they could play any music request on the Piano and drums. We laughed we sang, we clapped, moved our shoulders to the music in our chairs. It was entertaining, funny and a good time looking forward to our next night out at this place!!!
I had so much fun. A table reservation is a must, you just have to commit to one or two in your party to arrive at 8 pm (Friday night) to hold the reserved table. I think personally 8pm was a great time to arrive and start enjoying the live music, break for the recorded music, then have a blast with the actual piano show at 9pm! Both the live musician and piano+drums performers were fantastic. I loved celebrating my birthday here. Something they did here that made a huge difference is the A/C must have been set at 60 degrees. It was almost chilly when it was only half full and then when it was packed by 9-10pm, it didn't feel like it at all -- like most places get so warm with all the body heat! This bar did a wonderful job staying cool during all that. One thing I'm just hoping they had running was some air cleaning process. I'm pretty sure I got covid from a karaoke bar in Austin for the first time many weeks ago and I realized I was having a similar kind of night here, with a ton of people singing and dancing along to their favorite songs in a closed indoor space. I'm going to have to assume they did because the A/C was working so well! They let us bring in a pizza from the restaurant/food trucks nearby (not outside drinks of course!) But I would suggest next time we'll try harder to eat before coming. The pizza took 45 minutes to be ready after ordering online and by that time, I didn't want to eat a lot as I was having so much fun participating in the show! As far as song requests go, I'd have cash or your Venmo/paypal on your phone ready to go to scan the card our pianist passed out at the beginning. I wasn't sure how much to donate and saw a dollar bill with one and a 20 with another. I did 5 on venmo and he played it! I really liked the mix we ended up having of some 80s, 90s, 00s, and some Classics and Country. Never in my life did I think I would see so many people from all walks of life go nuts at a fantastically rapped Eminem's Lose Yourself!
My wife and I went for the first time this past Saturday and had a blast. The place was jammed packed, so get there early and be prepared to stand. The wait staff for the table was doing the best she could while being the only one. The singer/performer prior to the main act was very good and he has one heck of a great personality. The main act was a lot of fun and they did a great job interacting with the crowd. I would definitely return!
LOVED this place. The atmosphere, music, alcohol selection, food. Everything is so nice. Prices are reasonable. The fajitas tasted very good to be a bar. They offer chips and salsa also. Live music, including a band who play music at request. Perfect to come with friends. Right at the heart of downtown Round Rock.
It was my first time on a Sunday night, and I was greatly surprised. They were have Salsa/Merengue/Bachata/Cumbia night. It was Amazing, you had your professionals, intermediates, and beginners all dancing together. The music was on point, and the drinks were tasty. I have to say, if you are looking to burn calories, this is a great way to get your exercise. I will be making this my new hot spot on Sunday's
Awesome place as a whole. Make sure to get there early if wanting to find a place to sit as it's a small place. Don't let the small venue deter you, as the entertainment is great!
Great entertainment but a rather small location for the amount of traffic it sees on the weekends. Bar is put in the far back of the room and you have to weave your way through tons of people just standing at the back of the room listening to the guys play.
Don't know much about the place outside of their Sunday night Salsa/Bachata night. Class starts around 7:15 and social starts at 9:15. Tons of fun!
Great little apot for live muaic in Round Rock. Piano Bar starts at 9ish....if you get there earlier it will be original live music. Be warned. Almost all tables are reserved.
First time to visit rockys and thought it was a pretty neat place. Pianist took requests all night, and I don't believe he turned a single one down. If you like sing alongs and a fully engaged crowd, you should check outg rocky's.
Great place to have a drink and listen to some good music. The guys on the piano and drums were so good. It's a good place to hang out with friends and people watch. I'll also add that the congo line was on point and the crowd reacted well to the guys playing. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this place and the people.
Great fun evening. We have been twice with groups of neighbors and enjoyed singing along with the piano bar favorites. Drink, sing and be merry! Music started after 8.00 pm, but get there early to secure a table. The decor is contempory and the staff are welcoming
Very entertaining and lots of fun. Get there early because it's standing room only (at least on the weekend) by around 8 or 8:30. Wait staff did an excellent job of keeping up with drink orders.
Good salsa dancing here Sundays, classes by excellent local instructors. Does get warm in the summer - the A/C gets a bit overwhelmed with the typical attendence (owners could fix with fans to get the air moving) but the music is pretty good and drinks are fine.
Had an absolute blast! Great entertainers, great range of beers. Really should sell food to go with the alcohol. Seating is extremely limited, so you need to be there by 8:30 pm at the latest.
The atmosphere was very good. Both performances were on point. Price for drink was a little high for the place.
We made reservations (over 20 people) and they didn't reserve anything. The staff were not told BUT they did the best they could. Told us to grab tables as they became free and brought us chairs and drinks. We all had a great time!
Very fun. It's SUPER small and crowded, and there isn't a whole lot of alcohol selection... but the live music is fun, and who doesn't like to scream along with a piano?
Had a great time. Drinks could be better. Also had to wait for 1.5 hours to see the show if you wanted a seat. Otherwise it was standing room only.
Great atmosphere! The Piano guy rock the place. Had a great time. Only con, you need to be there early to get a sit. Full bar reasonable prices!
So much fun!! Our piano guy was Wesley from Houston and he was so entertaining 👏 we loved that we could dance along and not just sit and listen. It was nice having a server come to the table so we didn't have to fight the crowd at the bar. It got pretty packed as it got closer to midnight but that didn't last too long. At some point in the night the server said they ran out of what I was drinking but when I went to the bar at the end of the night the bartender said they still had it 🤔🙃 I would definitely go back. Pro tip: if you want a table for a group, get there early or you can call to reserve.
Great atmosphere! Comparable prices on alcohol. The only draw back is the seating is limited. If you want to sit down to enjoy the show, I suggest you get there before 8pm. Other than that, it's a great time.
Nice atmosphere and lots of fun. Dave the piano player was very talented and personable. He even learned a song on the fly that I requested for our anniversary and did an amazing job considering it was his first time to play it. Drinks were reasonably priced, but rather weak. Overall, we had lots of fun and will go back again.
I have only been on Sunday nights when they play bachata and salsa; they offer classes right before for people wanting to learn. There seems to be a good crowd when I have been. Casual, fun, non-pretentious atmosphere.
Interesting setup and venue. Piano player and drummer. I was invited by a great friend and was not expecting this setup but it was very interesting. A nice bar with a piano player and drummer willing to play any selections chosen by the customers. Great drinks and limited seating area. I would truly recommend this place with a nice group of friends or happy hour after the happy hour. Overall, I think you will have a good time here and if you willing to enjoy good music of your choice, I think you will enjoy this place. FYI, you have to find parking that around the corner or on the next block. Enjoy!
Music was great! Bartenders/servers didn't seem to know any of the correct prices, as both my friends and I were overcharged substantially due to miscommunication.
I used to like it here, but the dirty jokes were just just juvenile and the song choice wasn't as good as it used to be
This was a fun little find on the main drag in dwntwn RR. The piano playing began after 9pm and they have surprisingly affordable “you-calls” here, though the cocktail menu was good, mine was not nearly as strong as it should have been for the price. The whiskey “you-call” was great and half the price. We hugged the bar the entire time we were here as the tables were RSVP’d and the place packs ‘em in, so we figured it was better to be closer to the “source” than have to navigate the crowd each time we wanted to “whet our whistles”. The song selection was a bit all over the place, but that was half of the fun. I’m not sure if this place is packed like that every night, but I think if we come back it will be to experience it from one of the little bistro tables.
Great place to hang out. As with similar venues, sound level is suited for outdoors. Good place to bring friends if you prefer not to be talking and catching up with each other. 10-11pm on a weekend would find this place less crowded with tables and seats readily available.
The musicians were good, and the staff was friendly. But there were very long intervals when the musicians were not performing, and canned music was playing. The canned music was way too loud, even louder than the live musicians. And honestly the live musicians were also too loud. I wanted to talk to my friends when the musicians were taking a break, but that wasn't possible. Even if you shout right in the person's ear, it was still hard to hear what the other person was saying. I really wanted to like this place, but I won't go back because it was too loud, especially the canned music between live acts. Too bad because other than the volume, it has a lot going for it.
Just walked out on a terrible comedian. I use comedian loosely. Terrible material. He looked like they just scooped him off the side walk and put him on Stage.
Cool place but rude musicians. Met one of the owners, Mike, who was super nice. Fun place but we were put off by the band’s rude remarks and the crowd promptly thinned, including our party of 10. Get someone who can actually play and who are welcoming to the crowd...
We were told to claim our reservation by 8 or they would give it away so we show up at 7:55 and we're literally the only ones there. No one playing at the piano, one or two bartenders, the place was pretty dead. When asked when the musicians would start playing, we were told they'd come out at 9. What we were supposed to do for a whole hour I'm not sure but we asked if they could hold our reservation while we went and got a pizza as they don't serve food. They agreed to hold it until 8:30 for us which was nice. We got our pizza and came back at 8:30 and only three other tables in the whole restaurant had been claimed, so it was still pretty dead. Miller lite was doing a promotion there so we each got a free beer so that was cool. We waited for 9 until the musicians came on, by then it had filled up a bit. The musicians started out ok, they made a few jokes and the music wasn't bad at first. They kept repeating the same "joke" over and over though about how the more you tip with a song request the higher priority it gets played, but saying people should tip tens and twenties, and even "a Benji". Honestly they weren't good enough to get more than a few singles and a few times they came off as rude. I tipped them $10 over three song requests and not a single one got played. They weren't terrible requests either, it was Fortunate Son by CCR, Staying Alive by the BeeGee's, and Old Time Rock and roll by Bob Seger. We tried the Mexican candy shots from the bar which multiple people recommend but they were pretty nasty, so we got two of their other shots instead which tasted like riot juice (literally grain alcohol and gatorade mixed together). When asked for shiner Bock, we were told they only had ziegen Bock, which there's nothing wrong with ziegen Bock I just found it odd that a bar in Texas didn't have Shiner. Then my date wanted to order Irish car bombs and had asked about them earlier, however 30 minutes or so after asking about them we tried to order them and suddenly their Guinness tap wasn't working. By that time the musicians had skipped over all our song requests except for Uptown Girl, and was absolutely slaughtering a queen song (like screeching to the point where I began to feel physically uncomfortable and ill) so we left. Bartending staff was nice, but... that's kinda part of their job too, so idk. I am glad they were willing to replace our mexican candy shots with something else but when closing out I had to get the attention of a bartender who was on their phone. This place had great reviews so we thought we'd check it out, and I don't know if we came on just a bad friday night for the establishment or if it's always like that but the whole night just kind of got progressively worse. Maybe we weren't drunk enough to not care, who knows? Anyways, we won't be coming back for the foreseeable future. We just did not feel like it was worth the time and money we spent.
Very slow attention, they must improve in the following, the DJ's does not have a good musical repertoire for salsa days, he has no knowledge about salsa for dancing, too much cumbia and the distribution of chairs and tables is terrible
We went there on a Sunday night to Salsa dance. Their website says there is Salsa music and dancing on Sunday starting at 6pm. We waited next door until they opened at 7pm and there is no Salsa dancing. The lady that's worked there for years said the website needs to be updated. She said there has not been salsa dancing there for years. It was very disappointing. Don't waste your time going.
Came for a friends birthday on a Saturday night, thankfully had tables reserved. People were fully lined up against the walls by 10pm, the bar and bathrooms are in the back so there were people constantly moving though where people were standing. Very small place. Drinks just weren’t good. One younger girl who was taking drink orders on the floor was super sweet, but this other lady was pretty crabby. Not in a rush to go back.
Horrible drinks, good music. The bartenders don't even try to make a good drink they'll give you some mixed up stuff from last year.
The musicians are ok, but the main problem is that the place is all concrete and stone so it's insanely loud and music quality suffers. Even when there is no music, just the other patrons talking, it's loud enough to leave your ears ringing.
I love this bar but last night when I was there, Abbie the bartender was so rude. Never had a bad experience until last night. Then once I asked for her name, she lied and gave me a false name and I was given her real name by another bartender. I’m a regular there and Abbie was unprofessional as far as customer service.
Drinks are over price and the singer just take the people that gives him more money instead of taking request in the order he got them. He even gave me an attitude when I asked him why he didn't play my request he reply I can give you your money back if you want. SMDH what an a***h***.
Horrible place. Just moved to Round Rock with my fiance and we decided to come in for a quick drink. We ordered food and two drinks. A mask-less group came in (assuming they are regulars because they went right to the bartender and started talking). They immediately bumped into our table and got in our face to "apologize". We say "it's okay" and politely asked them to give us space because we were not comfortable with him talking in our face because of COVID. Customers proceed to harass us the entire time we were there and purposely spoke close to us even though we asked him not to because of... COVID!! He called us all types of names and took his jacket off as if he wanted to fight us. The staff members just laughed right along with them and no one stepped in to tell them to leave us alone even though we were there first. We closed out our tab and took our business to other bars in the area. It's funny, all the people at the other bars were not surprised when we told them what happened. They warned us if you ever want to see a fight, Piano Bar is the spot to go. I will NEVER spend my money in that trashy establishment ever again since they allow their customers to be insulted. How a staff member can allow a group of about 5 men harass 1 man and a WOMAN is beyond me. Absolutely disgusting.
I had a really terrible experience here for a few reasons: 1. They put another person in my party's drinks on my tab without asking me about it and without asking the person that ordered the drinks to start a tab. It was a busy night and I understand that mistakes can be made in a busy atmosphere, so I was very gracious as they rang up the transaction several times trying to fix the tab. I confirmed with them at the bar that night that only one transaction would be charged and they assured me yes. However, the next day I saw the 3-4 pending charges on my card, so I called back to confirm that only one would be charged and they assured me yes again. A few days later, there are 2 transactions that were officially charged to my credit card and another one still pending (none of them the correct amount), and now I'm having to dispute the charges with my credit card company. 2. The drinks were shockingly watered down and consequently way overpriced. For your reference, I am a 120 pound, tiny girl that has very low tolerance for alcohol. I had 3 shots and 3 cocktails in the span of about 2.5 hours, and left the bar very confused because I felt more sober than when I arrived. When I left the bar, I took a breathalyzer test which showed only 0.02. According to several different BAC trackers, a woman my size should have a BAC of ~0.2 after 6 drinks, ten times more impaired than I actually was. My friend with me felt the exact same way and had a breathalyzer which showed a BAC of 0.03. To claim to serve alcohol and charge the price of alcohol, while only serving people juice is frankly unacceptable.
Great music, but.... the bartenders are extremely rude, commented multiple times they 'hate white people', drinks look like a 5 year old made them and taste awful, if you don't tip enough they'll print a new recipe and write in tip amount themselves, AND if you have a hot gf the owner will likely hit on her in front if you. Btw, she said not in a million years bro!
This is a cool spot with a great crowd and great musicians. 1 star because the bar manager tried to overcharge me for my drink, adding on a dollar. Maybe she thought I wouldn't tip. My friend ended up buying my drink and she rounded his order up as well instead of communicating the actual price. I asked to speak to a manager and to my shock it was the ogre who tried overcharging us. Get a better bar staff.
Pretty disappointed with the piano bar only for the reason there was nowhere to sit. They reserved every single table for people that weren’t even there. There also were only 2 bar stools and tons of room for tables and chairs. My husband and I quite enjoyed the music but we only stayed for one drink due to the lack of seating. It’s also kinda silly to think that a piano bar on a Saturday night wouldn’t have anyone playing piano, just a one man band with a guitar. The bar next door was super fun though!
Talentless “guitar” player insulted me and my boyfriend as we walked in. We stayed for a minute kind of shocked and then decided to leave. He stopped to insult us again as we left. And he really couldn’t sing so I guess you can say he insulted our ears as well! Rockey’s will not have my business. Wow!
To the Manager or Owner, We have been residents of Round Rock for over 25 years and we have seen the evolution of the different businesses that have come and gone from your building. We were very disappointed at the younger Musician and how he made people feel bad about not paying $20 per song. Yes, he would partially joke and say it doesn't take $20, but YOUR song request would probably not be considered if not. This was not the issue about 6 months ago. We don't know what changed. This type of condescending speech by the Musician was a huge turn off and we will not return. Maybe the bar should start paying the musicians so they don't have to beg for money. It was ridiculous!
I really wanted to like this place, but Wednesday comedy night just wasn’t a good experience. I understand comedy isn’t for everyone, but the overall tone felt off for a suburban crowd like Round Rock. The comedians didn’t engage much with the audience and spent a lot of time making jokes at the expense of the town itself, which felt dismissive rather than playful. Dark comedy can work, but the repeated jokes about suicide, infidelity, and self-harm felt excessive and uncomfortable for the setting. What really stood out to me was how audience interaction was handled. At one point I mentioned Round Rock during a bit, and afterward the comedian repeatedly referred to me as “Chinese,” which felt unnecessary and awkward. Eventually, the comedian said my interaction was “annoying,” which made the situation uncomfortable enough that I decided to leave the room. As I was leaving, another audience member stopped me, hugged me, and even gave me a quick kiss, saying they felt the joke wasn’t funny and that I didn’t deserve to be singled out like that. That moment really confirmed for me that it wasn’t just my reaction—others noticed the lack of humor and professionalism as well. The comedian also complained on stage about only having around 14 people in the room, which didn’t help the atmosphere. After leaving, I stopped by the bar next door and mentioned the show, and they told me they’ve heard similar feedback about the comedians being rude. I wanted to support a local comedy night, but the lack of audience awareness and negative attitude made it hard to enjoy. I’d suggest checking reviews before going on comedy night, because it didn’t feel welcoming or particularly funny.
Tonight was a complete embarrassment at the piano bar. The performer Russell Boyd, who relies on tips, behaved with staggering unprofessionalism. Despite having a Venmo QR code right on the table (my intended payment method), he made a point to dismiss it, even throwing my suggestion away, stating he "only works for tips" (i.e., cash). For someone whose income is purely based on tips to act so rudely and demand payment like a toll collector is utterly distasteful. He wasn't even good! After that interaction, he lost his tip—and my patronage. I walked out and will never return.
