Wife was in the hospital and I was sent out on a mission for real food. I found this place was near me, so I ordered the pork fried rice and the street noodles. The street noodles have to be one of the best things I've ever had. So good we've been back twice since.

This a definitely a Chinese restaurant I'll be hitting up more often. The food, and atmosphere of the restaurant gave me high hopes. The portion of the bowl was good for the price. My only problem was with the beef. It required some chewing up. However, everything including the beef was full of flavor. And let me tell u...the spice level I chose was dead on...I didn't want it too spicy or just mild. They got it spot on. I would also say...include more duck sauce or a small cup of sweet and sour for the spring rolls. They were good 😋 too. Yes, I'll be back. I'm definitely taking my daughter.

2 stars – TSO - TSO… get it? So-so. I was excited to try this place after hearing good things. Staying at a nearby hotel, I opted for delivery since it was close (just 2 miles) and their website prominently features a “no tipping” policy, which made me assume they used their own in-house drivers—like old-school Chinese spots. That appealed to me, as I prefer avoiding third-party services. Placed the order (annoyed that cash wasn’t an option, but whatever), only to get a notification minutes later that a third-party delivery app was handling it. This completely contradicted the no-tipping vibe, which now felt misleading. If you’re outsourcing to DoorDash/Favor/etc., drivers rely on tips (more like bids) to prioritize orders, leading to longer waits. Sure enough, the food arrived later than expected, and it had cooled off—quality suffered as a result. I don’t blame the driver or even the food itself, but the setup: Spending $30+ on a solo dinner delivered such a short distance, the least a place could do is handle it in-house if they’re advertising no tipping. It comes across as cheap—saving on staff wages while stiffing gig drivers and inconveniencing customers who expect prompt, hot food. Former third-party driver here, so I avoid these services on principle and tip cash generously when it’s direct. This experience just reinforced why. Won’t order again.

I ordered a late dinner off DoorDash around 10:30 pm. I got the Happy Family bowl and Vietnamese chicken wings. The rice was undercooked, the meat tasted old (like frozen then thawed) but the chicken wings were ok. I will not order from here again.

First time tryng TSO. Picked up for my daughters and I on Sunday Oct 5. It looked really good but it lacked flavor. Ordered combination lo mein, combination fried rice and general tsos chicken. The lo mein and rice had very little flavor. The rice and noodles were light coated with very little sauce. The general tso was really sweet and no spice. There were larger cuts of vegetables compared to other places. It wasnt too bad it just lacked flavor. May try again but may try to find another place before I try TSO's again .

Just not that good. Fried rice had a foul flavor to it that reminded me of a Chinese bathroom. Gave it to the dogs. General tso's chicken was pretty yummy although a little too spicy so my stomach hurt that night. But I just felt disgusting after eating this food. More so than your regular Chinese greasiness. Green beans were good. General tso's chicken was okay. Orange chicken not as good. Hot and sour soup okay. I would order for this as my standby greasy Chinese place if it didn't really make me feel kind of sick afterwards. Just heavy and gross. I will not order from here again. I gave all of the chicken to the dogs the next day very sad. Fast delivery.

Updated 07/21/24: Ordered dinner again. Order put in at 7:15pm. Delivered 9:09pm. Almost 2 hours! The delivery driver said he only received the order 15 mins prior. Totally unbelievable and unacceptable. Absolutely disappointed with this outlet of Tso. Original review @ May 2024 below: Always had great experience ordering from the Tso located on I-35 and E 38th St. This was my first time ordering from this outlet. Added $1 broccoli to both my entrees. Neither had the added broccoli. Tried sending messages to the phone numbers which confirmed the delivery, as well as the one who called me to confirm my address. No response. Besides that, food was great as usual.

All the food we ate (besides spring rolls) did not taste fresh, authentic or well seasoned/designed. The general tso chicken crust was soft/squishy, a sign it was either in the sauce a long time or just frozen or then heated up. The broccoli in the dish likewise was quite soft and not fresh tasting. Chicken egg rolls were fine just lukewarm. Drunken beef noodles tasted a lot like a microwaveable Chinese meal from the grocery store. Pretty sure the beef was not pan fried fresh but likely frozen and heated. Vegetables and noodles likewise did not taste fresh. Flavor was very mild and not close to an authentic flavor. Wanton soup lacks any real flavor and is watered down and hot and sour soup was just weird tasting, not very good. Spring rolls were the only grade A item. Service and staff were fine, this review is really just around food quality/taste/recipes. Not trying to bash this buisness but generally want the food design, recipes and execution to improve for a thriving buisness. If things are not being made fresh from scratch this is the best place to start for improvement. Hunan Lion is our go-to and will stay that way simply because of the authenticity and flavor. If you’re thinking about ordering takeout from TSO Chinese, do yourself a favor and find another place. I placed an order that said it would take about an hour for delivery. That already seemed like a long time, but at least they tell you that upfront. An hour and a half later, I was still waiting with no update in the app and no call from the restaurant. I finally called and the guy who answered, who said he was the manager, told me they were busy and that he had just noticed my order was never picked up because they’re having trouble getting drivers. I understand things happen, but if my food has been sitting there for an hour and a half, maybe call the customer and let them know. His solution was to try to get another driver, which he said would take another hour. By that point the food would have been sitting there for two hours before it even got to me. I ended up telling him I’d just pick it up myself after already wasting an hour and a half waiting. The best part is the “manager” never once apologized and just kept repeating that they were busy. If you’re hungry and don’t mind waiting two hours for cold food and zero communication, then this is the place to order from.

Food is great when it is fresh and hot. But the only way to get it like that is take out. Delivery is done using uber or post mates or other service. When the drivers were in-house the food was delivered hot. If you eat here, I strongly suggest that you pick it up, deliver will not show up until the food is ice cold and has to be reheated.

Our dinner order consisted of egg rolls, soup, rangoons & lettuce wraps. It was not good! I cannot put a star on anything other than to post. Delivery also took a lot longer than expected.

Waited over an hour for my delivery order with no update. The driver couldn't find my unit despite detailed instructions. If I had not called to get an update, I am not sure if I would have gotten a refund or even been notified. They were nice about the refund and made that easy at least. So much for feeling like crap and wanting to order in food.

Don't ever order a late lunch! Soup was all broth, really nothing in it!! Combination fried rice was dried out!!! Pepper steak came in a container half the size of the usual container and that was only half full and ninety percent vegetables only had five pieces of pepper steak!!!! Looks like they took leftovers from lunch and tried to put the meal together!!!!! Since they did not have enough of the entree, they just looked for a smaller container that it might look presentable in!!!!!!!
