Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - St. Charles, IL

Brunch! What a wonderful treat their new brunch menu is. We started by sharing the Salted Caramel Doughnuts. They were warm and fun to pass around. At the table we ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast, Smoked Brisket Hash and Chilaquiles. Each one was better than the next. I can’t get over what a top notch job they do. Service is exceptional and the food is always beyond expectations. I love to cook myself, but they manage beautifully complicated layers of flavor that blow me away.

Always delicious well prepared dishes with an appealing presentation. The staff is always professional, courteous and friendly. Our server Nicole was new to this restaurant and took care of us and made our dinner pleasant and delightful. I only took pics of our appetizer and dessert as I forgot to get the main course but it was superb! The appetizer was a flatbread bruschetta that had a full and balanced flavor. Being a flatbread is perfect so you still have an appetite when the main course is served. Medallion Trio was my selection and Steak and Shrimp (Surf and Turf) was my wife's selection for our main course. All prepared to perfection. We split the pictured dessert. It was a peach something or other (forgot the name) but it was so delicious. The kind of flavor that makes you want more even being completely satisfied. The dining area was clean, neat and organized. Clean restroom and plenty of parking. And if you have never been there, they have a huge selection of wine and a well stocked bar with bar tenders that know how to make well made delicious cocktails. Always a really nice dining experience at Cooper's Hawk.

Cooper’s Hawk just launched weekend brunch and it’s delicious! Service starts at 10:00am. We enjoyed splitting the salted caramel doughnuts and both tried the brisket hash. The food was well timed out and delectable; it was definitely on par with the high quality and freshly prepped ingredients that Cooper’s is known for. The menu has numerous breakfast cocktail options, including fun takes on the classic mimosa. This will definitely be our new go to spot for weekend breakfast/brunch with friends and family. Looking forward to trying more of the menu items! Thanks to John and his team for another great dining experience!

Wonderful food and service. We made a reservation and got seated pretty soon after arriving. The food was very tasty and everything on the menu had a wine pairing. My wife said the pairings went very well with the appetizer, meal, and desert we had. The only minor thing would be that it was very noisy with all the people as the people were talking over the house music, at sometimes it was hard for my wife to hear me, otherwise it was very wonderful.

I attended a business lunch at the location in St. Charles and Sam was our server. He was pleasant and had great customer service. We tried different suggestions of wine and the food was delicious as well.

Enjoyed a birthday lunch with a close friend and it was just wonderful. Sheri was our waitress and was just spectacular. She was kind, provided great service and remembered my friend from a past visit. We were celebrating our birthdays and we really felt celebrated with the truffles and handwritten birthday card. The food was so delicious. I will definitely be back to this location!

Excellent private party today! Celebrated a one-year old's birthday with 20 family members. Excellent food and service! Gluten allergy was accomodated and allergy choices were above and beyond expectations! Thank you!

Sam was our server at lunch today. He was absolutely fantastic. Friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu items. Ask for Sam next time you dine in!

Excellent food and solid service! They handled our group of 9 well. Food came at a reasonable speed, and everyone loved their respective dishes. Nice polished atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a work outing or family event.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Coopers Hawk Winery with our son and his family. I want to like wine and to find a red that I like and our server was so kind bring several for tasting. The food was absolutely amazing. We sat in the bar area, and we were comfortable, quiet enough to carry on a conversation. Service was absolutely flawless. I would give more stars if I could!

Our server, Kari, was very friendly and warm. We were particularly impressed that she remembered us from a previous visit and she was very attentive throughout our meal. She spent time with us, talked to us, and got to know us a little better, which really made our date night wonderful.

I've never had a bad experience at Cooper's Hawk. I've never been to the location in saint. Charles, my first experience was a factor phenomenal. The service that I received from Brian was exceptional. He is a server second to none. If Brian is not on shift, I don't know. If I want to go again I wanted to speak to a manager Adam who was not available. So I will be giving Adam a call to tell him how excellent he is. His staff is on a scale from 1 to 10. I give them a 20. This is one satisfied customer. Brian is very knowledgeable, very professional. He is a keeper if you ever get rid of him.I'm never coming back

Brynn and Beverleigh were amazing! They were kind, professional, and attentive, and truly made the experience so great. We couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend this place and these servers!

I always do appetizers and a glass of wine because the price point is too high for me. But that said, its a wonderful place. Food, wine and service cannot be beat! And both the chicken lettuce wraps and meatballs apps are delicious. Enjoy

Tonites visit was fantastic. $8 drinks for Happy Hour was a nice suprise. The salmon spread on the happy hour menu was delicious. I had the prime sandwich and it was perfect. Service was spot on. Amanda was checking on us constantly and did a great job! Ty!

We had a fantastic experience at Cooper’s Hawk, and it was all thanks to Sam Wagner’s exceptional service. From the moment we were seated, Sam made us feel genuinely welcomed. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered thoughtful recommendations that turned out to be perfect choices. He took the time to explain the wine pairings and made sure our glasses were never empty. His timing was spot-on throughout the meal—checking in just when needed and ensuring everything came out smoothly and correctly. What really stood out was Sam’s professionalism combined with a warm, personable approach. He anticipated our needs, handled special requests effortlessly, and made the entire dining experience feel elevated and relaxed at the same time. Excellent service can truly transform a meal, and Sam absolutely delivered. We’ll definitely be back—and we’ll be asking for him again.

We had a wonderful experience dining here with a group of nine, it’s always a great sign when every person at the table is genuinely happy with their meal, and that was definitely the case for our group. The service was solid, attentive, and well-organized, which can be difficult to achieve with a larger party, but the staff handled it with ease. Our server was friendly, professional, and made sure everyone had what they needed throughout the meal without being overbearing. The timing of the food was also just right—nothing felt rushed, yet we never found ourselves waiting too long between courses. The atmosphere added to the overall experience as well. The space feels polished and inviting, making it a comfortable setting whether you’re there for a work outing, a family celebration, or just a casual meal with friends. Overall, this is location I would confidently recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Great dinner tonight at St Charles. Roberta’s service was perfect. She was fun, energetic and had all the right recommendations. She kept us laughing and our courses came out well timed and all tasted great. Roberta’s recommendation on the seasonal Carmel macchiato brownie was so GOOD. We rarely eat at CH anymore but glad we did this evening. We’d comeback for Roberta and the brownie!

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time there to celebrate going out kid free! Nicole was our waitress and she was out standing. She was very knowledgeable with the different wines and what wine would go best with what dish. Very bubbly personality and super friendly. I would give her a 10/10 if I could. Will definitely come again. 😊

Wish I could give a 6 star for service. I have been here multiple times and I can honestly say that Sam is literally the best waiter I have ever had. He's attentive, quick and I can tell is genuinely kind. He never tries to up charge us obnoxiously or anything, just suggests what he genuinely thinks we would like, gets to know our tastes and always comes with a friendly demeanor. I'd never request a different server. Food is also good.

The food was delicious and I loved the atmosphere too. Our server Sam was so attentive, charming and friendly. My aunt appreciated being carded when she asked for wine. Speaking of wine, Sam’s wine recommendations were spot on. Perfect. I love this place.

My absolute favorite restaurant exclamation absolute favorite waiter is Sam. My favorite dish is the Cherasco steak dinner with wasabi mashed potatoes and balsamic glaze vegetables. My favorite wine is the Meritage. My favorite dessert is the Reesie‘s cookie with vanilla ice cream. Favorite appetizer meatballs with sourdough bread. All my favorites in one place is so amazing but Sam is the best of all.

I went to Cooper’s Hawk for a company event and we had a great time!!! Out server Sam was phenomenal! He really knew how to approach a large table and appease everyone based on food and drink preferences. The atmosphere is always great here and everyone is very professional! Sam, we will be back!!

We had an amazing experience at the Cooper’s Hawk Saint Charles, Illinois Tasting Room. The atmosphere was welcoming and lively, especially during the football games, which made it even more fun. Kimberly M led our tasting and was fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around. She kept the energy up during the games, made everyone feel included, and still provided great insight into the wines. It was the perfect mix of entertainment and education. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend asking for Kimberly M if you’re visiting this location!

Delicious food, great wine, lovely staff and wonderful service. My friend and I went to enjoy wine tasting and ended up dining in. We wined and dined and will definitely do it again!! We went to Cooper’s Hawk in Montgomery on a spur-of-the-moment Friday night around 5 PM, having never been there before. It’s a winery, but when you first walk in it feels a little like a Cracker Barrel with all the knick-knacks and retail items for sale. We were under dressed for sure . I recommend slacks , nice shoes and collared shirt . The hostess let us know that all tables were reserved until 8, but we could sit in the center bar area if a table was available. Luckily, we grabbed a four-top, and my wife sat next to me so we could both watch the three large screens above the bar. Our server, Emily, was hands-down the BEST and most attentive server we’ve ever had. She walked us through the wine, drink, and dinner menus in detail and even brought samples of the house beer. (The beer was average, nothing special.) The food is all made from scratch in the kitchen, which means they can accommodate preferences and allergies. Emily recommended the bruschetta, so we tried it—and it was every bit as good as she said. The table next to us ordered calamari, and it smelled amazing. Dinner, along with the warm pretzel bread, absolutely met our expectations. Overall, a great first visit—and Emily really made the experience stand out.

Personally, I believe Sam Wagner is the greatest server I have ever had. Charming and fast service. His wine recommendations are great too he is super knowledgable about reds. ALWAYS ask for SAM WAGNER at this location.

I don’t normally write Google reviews but our service was so exceptional that I wanted to recognize Nicole. Our experience was truly elevated because of the service Nicole provided us -and we are grateful. Thank you Nicole for making our dinner experience so amazing!

Sam was a phenomenal waiter. Our group of 6 had a fabulous lunch experience highlighted by his professional and fun personality! Would highly recommend!

We brought my uncle here who had a 75th birthday that day. Service was excellent. Ambiance top shelf. Things were neat and clean. And of food was at the top of the chain. We had a great time. We live in the Burr Ridge area so we frequent that location. This was the first time and first visit of the location in St Charles. Will be back.

I have been to several Coopers Hawk restaurants in the area, and this was my first time in St. Charles. The wine tasting area is relatively small, compared to the newer Coopers Hawk restaurants. I ordered the Churrasco steak, and it arrived overcooked. The management offered to replace the steak, but I decided to eat the steak. They credited the bill for my meal. Service was quite good, even though this was a Friday evening.

The food served very small portions for a rather steep price. Great options. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and lunch was very good. My double cheeseburger was truly delicious, but it was $19 and about the size of a White Castle burger. I will go back, but I will be prepared to leave hungry.

Great atmosphere and as the name suggests, this is first and foremost a wine bar. They have regular wine tasting events, wine you can purchase in restaurant to take home, a wine club and serve your bottle of wine with a fancy wine decanter (you can purchase one at the store). The bar is first come first serve. Otherwise, reservations highly recommended as it’s usually packed. The restaurant has a high end feel and an outdoor patio. For Chicago, there are much better steakhouses. Cooper’s Hawk is not a steakhouse, but it serves steaks, seafood and pasta. A great, wide variety menu to go with your wine. I call this out because if you’re looking for a great steak, this is not it. It’s good, but not great, because this is first and foremost a wine bar. Also be prepared the restaurant is so loud it’s hard to have a conversation with the person across from you. Shockingly loud. We went here for an interview and it was an awkward experience because we could hardly hear over dinner and had to lean across the table and speak loud to have a conversation. Not ideal if you want good conversation, but if you’re looking for a fun night, definitely try.

Overpriced. Nothing extraordinary. The pistachios were burned on the grouper. There was entirely too much batter on the calamari. The roasted vegetables were mostly peppers and too charred. The server was very nice but had tables at the front bar and we were in the back of the restaurant. So, he ran himself ragged and could not possibly do his job well. 2.5 hour drive for an hour of mediocre dining that cost $180 for the two of us. Meh.

Came in with high expectations but left pretty disappointed. The steak was burnt and overcooked, the wine was served without asking if we wanted decanted, and our appetizer arrived before the bread—which just made the pacing of the meal feel off from the start. Service was also slow; our server took a long time to even notice us. To top it off, the manager-in-training came over to apologize but didn’t seem to understand what he was apologizing for, which didn’t inspire much confidence that the issues were being taken seriously. Overall, a rough experience that needs better coordination between the kitchen, service, and management. Hoping this was just an off night, but it happens ALL THE TIME at this Location!

Went there the last two times and no more! Went there tonight and was told no reservations needed but you actually did. Had to sit at the bar like cattle. Really wanted a filet and glass of wine, but sorry I’m not sitting at a bar eating filet. So that ruined our evening having to get more bar related food. When we got the food 45 min later it was cold. So enough to say our night of enjoying filet and wine was ruined. Never going to this place again! If I want to sit and eat at a bar, I’ll bring my Harley and go to a real bar. Thank for ruining New Year’s Eve!

Ordered a glass of wine and it came to me with a cracked and chipped wine glass. No problem. They’re busy and bartender was working fast! Waitress came back in seconds with a new glass but there was a tiny chip of glass floating on top of the wine. She admitted the bartender poured the chipped glass of wine into a new glass. I’m a bartender! I’d NEVER do that! The waitress just laughed and said she watched the bartender pour the 3rd glass and I’m good. Unbelievable! Not a very classy moment for 2 of their employees.

Well where do I begin. Appalling service from start to finish. Asked for a booster with straps, given one without. Our serve took forever to come ask for drinks and starters. Then eventually when she did she had absolutely no clue about the wine. She then deserted us, the starters took an age to come and then when they did arrive we still had our huge menus taking up space because the server had still vanished. Eventually ordered mains. They got mine and my freinds mixed up, so we cut into each other's steak then realized we had the wrong ones. Steak itself was very very average. The noise is the place is ridiculous we couldn't hold a conversation across our table it was so noisy and everyone crammed in. Very disappointing way to spend a thursday evening and a total waste of over $300. Given they are supposedly a winery its amazing how the most expensive bottle of wine in there is less than 60 bucks! Avoid avoid avoid, we certainly won't be returning

I’ve been to Cooper’s Hawk many times and frequently come for the wine tasting. I’ve always enjoyed the experience, which is why today was so disappointing — especially as a regular guest. On 01/27/26, after finishing work, my friends and I came in for wine tasting and then had a dinner reservation. We were hungry and ready to eat. When our waitress Jennifer took our order, I asked for the chicken tenders with fries. I’ve ordered this before without any issue. I used to order the fried fish, but since it’s no longer on the menu, the tenders have been my go-to. My friends were ordering steaks and other full entrées, so it wasn’t like we were only ordering off the kids menu. Jennifer said she couldn’t allow it and went to get her manager (Jess, at least that’s the name she gave us). I explained the situation and even offered to be charged for an adult plate — we just wanted to eat. We were still told no and that it “wasn’t allowed.” Because of this, we ended up not ordering any food at all, finishing only the drinks we had already ordered. It was very inconvenient to have to leave and go somewhere else to eat, especially after just getting off work and having a reservation. I truly don’t understand why it was such a big issue to order something we were willing to pay full price for. The situation felt unnecessarily strict and came across as dismissive and unaccommodating. I’ve loved coming here in the past, but this experience makes me question whether I’ll return. That said, our past wine tastings have been excellent. Jenny is absolutely wonderful — friendly, welcoming, and made us feel valued. She’s truly an asset to the team. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration so future guests don’t have a similar experience.
