Always decent food with large servings. When ordering pasta I always have left overs...always enjoy eating at Gino's. Pizza crust is good.
Genoa Italian Restaurant offers an amazing experience right from the start. The ambient vibe strikes a perfect balance: wonderfully quiet and intimate, yet full of vibrant, great vibes that set the stage for an incredible meal. The food is consistently amazing. The Clam Chowder is a rich, flavorful standout, and the Minestrone soup is also delicious. For a guaranteed fantastic meal, you simply can't go wrong with any of their pizza or pasta dishes. Having been here three times now, the consistent quality confirms this is a genuinely great restaurant. What truly elevates the experience is the amazing staff, especially our incredible waitress, Maria. Her service is genuinely five-star and beyond compare—she never misses a beat. Maria's intuitive knowledge and professionalism mean she knows precisely when to check in and when to grant privacy, making the entire evening effortless. This is quite genuinely an amazing experience. We are thrilled to have this gem in Salinas. Thank you, as always, The Couple in the Corner
Gino's is an amazing icon of a bygone era in the area. Delicious Italian cuisine, superb service, and delightful atmosphere. It has long been a favorite restaurant of ours and I am sure they will continue to deliver wonderful cuisine for years to come.
I had the pleasure of dining at Gino's, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. We made reservations in advance, and upon our arrival, we were seated promptly. The service was truly excellent, with a staff that was not only friendly but also highly attentive. The food was not only delectable but also wonderfully presented. It was evident that a great deal of care went into the preparation of each dish. We were celebrating a birthday, and the fact that we could secure reservations for a party of four on the same day was a pleasant surprise. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to dine at Gino's, I would highly recommend giving this spot a try. The welcoming atmosphere, outstanding service, and delicious food make it a dining experience.
It’s a good place to grab semi fancy dining. A bit too expensive for me, but it’s a place we turned to for a Delicious birthday Easter lunch. Their covered outdoor area is the best, with all that lovely diffused lighting and scattered heat lamps if it gets too cold. I got: butternut squash ravioli with prosciutto and a side of artichoke bisque (soooo good!) with a Gino’s sour apple 🍏 to finish me off. Totally napped like a baby once I got home from the one drink. Would have wished for more raviolis for the price and that it was my main plate. (Other dishes were way bigger in comparison)
The server is a big part of the experience and unfortunately our visit was ruined by the person that served us. First he asked us if we wanted appetizers, I said I just wanted a soup. And my sister didn’t want any appetizers. He already seemed annoyed, “I’ll give you guys a couple of minutes then” but we were already ready to order. That’s when he left and we stayed there sitted waiting for him to come. When he came back he asked us what we wanted we wanted the steak with ravioli. I read it right off the menu. He looked at me confused and asked if we were sharing. Not sure why he thought we were sharing. I asked him if it was a big steak and he said not really. So I said two plates please. Then he said okay two plates coming up. Did you guys wants the soup or salad. I asked for a soup he said they had minestrony and some other one I said I wanted minestrony then he began to mansplain to me what minestrony soup is. Because he told me after I asked for it I felt like he looked down on me with the way he was talking to me as if I were a toddler. My sister wanted a salad. Because he was rushing so much he was talking super fast and he was like do you want blue Chesse ranch or bla bla bla and my sister said “pardon” so he sighed all annoyed and said I said blue Chesse bla bla or bla speaking super fast. So my sister was confused and got the vinegar dressing. Which she hated because she thought it came with Chesse because he was talking so fast and being impatient with us. Then he left and came back with our food. The steak only but the ravioli wasn’t there. When I tried to tell him that we ordered it with ravioli he said that no we didn’t but i did because i read it off the menu and my sister heard. I think he didn’t catch it because he was acting as if he were in a hurry. Then he said a ravioli and a steak wasn’t a thing. I said I wanted to see the menu then. Then he said it is a thing but i didn’t order that. I was so upset by then. I said I’m okay with no ravioli but my sister wants some. Then he brought us both ravioli when I said I didn't want any. He didn’t apologize and he never offered us refills but he offered all the other tables refills. With the other customers he was laughing and being kind and patient and refilling their cups. I felt rejected, and the food was overpriced and honestly terrible. Dry hard steak and very plain, very basic mashed potatoes and veggies, for 90 bucks. Even Denny’s steak is better. What hurts the most is watching my sister’s birthday be ruined by him because he treated us like less. He treated us like people that weren’t worth his time or patience and people he couldn’t listen too when we have a complain about our order because it’s wrong.
Best kept breakfast secret in Salinas! It’s quiet here for breakfast, but the food is amazing, freshly prepared and creative. They have very good skillets, an incredible fried chicken Benedict, and delicious inventive waffle/pancake options like the churro waffle. Thanks Gino’s for being open for breakfast!
The place itself is nice! Nice ambience! Be prepared to wait a little bit because Its usally very busy with Reservations... Parking is tight if you find one, you may have to wait a few minutes for someone to leave or park in another parking lot. I had to retract my last review because Gino's has stepped up they're game and today stands it's own. The food presentation is as mouth watering as it tastes! Good for you Gino's! Breakfast is served daily until 2pm and in my opinion is the best breakfast in Salinas!
Nice ambience in this family owned Italian Restaurant. Tasty fresh bread and the cooler is refillable. Bruschetta, Castroville Chicken Alfredo and Roasted King Salmon Filet were spot on. Entree portions are huge which isn’t usual in Italian Fine Dining. Friendly staff helped me surprise my wife with the dessert and a candle to celebrate our anniversary. yes dessert was yummy too. Definitely visit if you are on Hwy 1 and it’s time for some delicious food. Note: There is a separate to-go window and it’s easy to get parking even though it’s considerably small parking lot.
We went here a 2nd time. This time we ate in. I had chicken marsala portobello and my husband had Pebble Beach shrimp scampi. Both dishes were very good. We started with artichoke bisque. The soup was delicious. Thick and creamy with good artichoke flavor. I think it had in a tomato base. The chicken was a marsala cream sauce. It was grilled and pounded thin. The scampi was lemony and had lots of shrimp. We had pizza the first time. We got a Chicken Primavera pizza to go, and it was very good. It had lots of chicken and zucchini on it. The sun dried tomatoes added nice pops of flavor.
We had an employee appreciation event there for 10 people. They were very accommodating and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the Shrimp Scampi which was loaded with shrimp, garlicky and oh so satisfying.
11/8/25 It's a hit or miss. Service very slow, and it wasn't busy, just a few people. You had to keep asking for common things. Food, not the best Italian, but good. Note; you expect when you order a salad the dressing is made and mixed in your salad. I received it needing for me to blended and then pour it over. Gino's is supposed to be a high end restaurant.
Solid place. Staff is fun and attentive. I gave the place a four only because things can always be a little better. To each their own. Food great. Place is great. Bar is great. Great ambiance.
Haven't been to this place in a couple of years because the last two times....this place sucked. Well, we still had a gift card from a 2 years ago Christmas and decided we might as well use it. I wasn't expecting much and was I wrong! Started with calamari strips...very good. Next was artichoke bisque.....tasty! Entree 1 was the Gino's Trio which had lasagna, chicken parmesan and fettuccine Alfredo. A lot of food for a reasonable price. Loved it but u will say it didn't taste like authentic freshly made pasta. But it was good. Entree 2 was steak tri tip pasta. It was good but a little light on the bits of steak. Emilia was a very gracious and professional wait staff and made a killer apple martini. Very good experience. 2 drinks, 1 bottle of wine, 1 app and two entrees under 150. Not bad. Definitely worth another visit.
In the are doing some work and after we decided to get some good food. Top rating was Gino’s so we pulled up. Started off with the garlic bread and I must say it was awesomeness for sure buttery garlicky soft bread. You are given the option to add cheese but it isn’t necessary. Next up was the soup and the choice were clam chowder, artichoke bisque, and spumoni. I chose the artichoke bisque and was not disappointed. Entree: Steak & Scampi: the NY steak was very tender and the shrimp were ok. I was expecting bigger prawns as it said jumbo but they weren’t bad. Mashed potatoes were creamy and good as well. For desert I went with the bread pudding. Overall Gino’s understands the assignment so that you can’t be mad at. If you’re in town check ‘em out.
Everything was just "ok." Just ok = mediocre. That's not what we're looking for when we're dining out. Especially when it's for a special occasion. The martinis were not served chilled. The bread and minestrone soup was served cold. The chicken alfredo and lasagna was good. Tiramisu was just ok.
I ordered to go from this place and when I got back to the hotel I had no napkins or silverware. Who doesn’t at least put napkins in a to go bag especially when they force a tip at check out. No bread came with the meal which was a soupy Alfredo that would have been perfect for bread. The salad (picture attached) at nice pieces of fresh spinach leaf on top but as soon as you moved them you had brown wilted romaine - and I came in right before closing so you would think I would get something fresh if they were rotating properly. Disappointing based on some of the other reviews.
The most disgusting chicken parm I have ever tried in my life! I’ve ordered food from here before and been satisfied, it was never amazing but it was decent. This last time, I did not have time to cook dinner after work so I swung by on my way home to pick up a meal to go. It was so terrible that neither my husband or myself could eat it and we threw the entire plate away. I called to let the manager know, and was told I could bring in the food for a refund or replacement. I informed him that unfortunately I live over 20 minutes away and was not able to return with my plate of food. They refused to refund me or even credit me for a future dinner unless I brought back the food to show them it hadn’t been eaten. I can understand that policy for a large catered meal or even a whole family dinner but for one plate? The manager also refused to tell me who the owner was, which is really weird to me. Any respectable restaurant owner would be proud to have their name associated. They have not updated their website to show that Gino’s is no longer owned by the Bozzo family. They lost myself and my entire family as customers over their ridiculous policy and a $30 meal. Their 4.4 star rating comes from the previous owners. This place has gone downhill. You’d get better Italian at Olive Garden.
