I been coming here for Korean food for over a decade. One of the best hidden gems in San Antonio. Good price & good food can’t beat that.
Would recommend highly for authentic Korean food.. all kinds of plates and bbq you can cook yourself.. super delicious. We will be coming back here for sure! Thank you to love lovely staff for their hard work and dedication
The food looked so good the atmosphere was so friendly staff was so nice. There was a big drink selection, some snacks out at the front. The staff checked in frequently and over all service was amazing. Had Bibimbap and ramen. Yumm Heathy, tasty, no frills. I’ll be back.
Absolutely delicious. I have converted many people, that were skeptical of trying this place, into regular customers. Bibimbap, Bulgaria, you name it, it's amazing. I could keep going on, but if you're of a fan of authentic food, COME EAT HERE. You're welcome 🤙🏼🤌🏼
I used to work close to there and all the field team I worked with would go at lunch. That was 17 years ago when Chas was still a store that sold tacos. Ms. Kim would offer me Kimche that wasn't quite on the menu yet and Mr. Kim was always bright, smiling, ready with a fist bump to greet or say goodbye. I love how it's evolved but great memories of the neighborhood spot, My Mother in law used to have credit there for groceries in the early 80's. They know their community to say the least. I took my almost 4 month old grandbaby yesterday, she got her first taste of their guisada and bean and cheese...she was attacking the spoon lol. .... It's not just the food, which is awesome!! It's little things that bring back memories and now our littles will get to experience. Sounds cheesy, its really not. Chas has a customer with me and mine... for life.
I've been going to this place since I was a little girl. I love how much they've expanded their menu. The food is DELICIOUS!!! I eat here at least once a week. Lol
The food was so good. As you can see we devoured it and found our new goto place. We got the spicy pork bulgogi and the stone bowl bibimbap and would recommend both. And they have the viral mango and peach ice cream that is shaped like the fruits.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chas Market & Kitchen is easily one of the best Korean BBQ spots in San Antonio. Their all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ is incredibly authentic — I honestly felt like I was back in Korea. The quality of the meat, the flavor, and the freshness of all the side dishes were top-notch. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff was fast and attentive. If you’re looking for real, authentic Korean BBQ in SA, this is the place. Highly recommend!
Chas Market and Kitchen, located just off I-35 in San Antonio, is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of convenience, quality, and local charm. This establishment functions as both a well-stocked market and a casual eatery, making it a versatile stop for travelers and locals alike. The market section is well-organized and carries a variety of goods, including fresh produce, snacks, beverages, and essential grocery items. The selection leans toward quality, with a noticeable emphasis on local and regional products, which adds a nice touch for those looking to support small businesses. The cleanliness and layout make browsing easy, and the staff is always on hand to assist if needed. The kitchen is where Chas Market truly shines. The menu features a mix of classic Korean comfort food and Tex-Mex favorites, all prepared with fresh ingredients. Breakfast options, such as breakfast tacos and hearty plates with eggs, bacon, and potatoes, are popular and consistently well-made. For lunch, the burgers and sandwiches stand out juicy, flavorful, and served with crispy fries or house-made sides. The Tex-Mex offerings, like the enchiladas and fajitas, are also solid, delivering authentic flavors without being overly greasy. Service is friendly and efficient, with staff members who seem genuinely invested in ensuring a positive experience. The dining area is simple but comfortable, with a casual vibe that makes it a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and quality of the food. One minor drawback is the limited seating during peak hours, which can make finding a table a challenge. Additionally, while the market has a good selection, it doesn't have everything Overall, Chas Market and Kitchen is a reliable and enjoyable stop along I-35. Whether you're grabbing groceries, a quick coffee, or a full meal, this place delivers with consistency and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great example of a local business that successfully combines practicality with good food.
This is one of San Antonio’s best local eateries! I have been coming to Chas Market for many years and have tried pretty much everything. The all you can eat bbq is fun and delicious but there are so many things to eat! From Korean to Mexican to American there is something for everyone! We had the spicy beef soup, cheese burger, cheesesteak, and even a couple of tacos and everything was amazing! If you’ve never been to Chas you are missing out!
2 Beef Bulgogi, and 2 Squid Stir Frys were ordered. Both entrées were very tender and full of flavor. I've visited quite a few of the local Korean establishments and at the first bite, it took me back to my time in S.Korea. The Banchan was incredible. They also have Korean Bbq which will be next time. Yes, this place is a must try. Service was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend both dishes.
This place wasn't juat dinner. It was an experience. We had AYCE and kids partook of the Ramen. First up was the heads on shrimp and pork belly. One area I think they could improve is to provide a chart of recommended cook times. I used my AI assistant and helped me get an idea given the stove model and temperature setting of high. For the shrimp, 2-3 minutes per side was sufficient. For the pork belly, 4-5 minutes / side. For the baby octopus, 3-4 minutes per side. For the brisket, 2-3 minutes per side (untested). As for beverages, it is basically self serve with the drinks they have in the coolers and they add it to the tab with a complomentary water per patron. **Pro-tip: Get a $2.99 gallon of distilled water and request cups. If you order spicy, you probably are going to need it. (We killed about half the gallon!)** We also had the spicy beef bulgogi and kalbi which were phenomenal. Their kim-chi and sides were on point. Understandably, the price is a bit high but was totally worth it! Note: You no longer are required to have every member of your party get AYCE if one does but two is the minimum. This would have been an issue as our kiddos are picky eaters but thankfully the rule was old.
A nice hidden gem only Google can take you there. It is in a neighborhood, and Google took me around the back, next to the train tracks, with no stores in sight. Sketchy was the word that came to mind. Does not look like anything from the outside, and you can drive pass it and not think there is anything in there. The smell of deliciousness will draw you in. Own by true Ajumma, food was delicious, and service was top notch. Water bottle is free, all other bottle drinks you pay after dinner. Limited menu, but enough to satisfy any one missing true Korean food.
Best Korean food I’ve ever had. Service was 5 star!!! Don’t let the outside of the building fool you. It looks like an old corner store market, but when you walk in the food is the real hero. Upon entering, yes it looks like a mom and pop grocery store (which it kind of is) but right behind the first aisle, is the amazing restaurant. Very casual dining and simple menu. We were greeted by the enthusiastic staff and advised of some of the more popular dishes. We went with the spicy chicken bulgogi (amaaaaazing!), the Korean bbq ribs (to die for), pork belly (tasty), and a bimbibop. We were served all the traditional sides with Korean food along with a small portion (yet adequate) of rice. Get any drink you want from the refrigerators and bring it to your table. They do have an electric Korean bbq if you want to cook your own food. However, we opted for the chef to cook. Food is to die for! Will definitely be coming back. San Antonio’s Korean food hidden gem!
Nothing fancy but good banchan and reasonable prices. Ordered the spicy pork bulgogi lunch box, comes with white rice and banchan. Also ordered a full size japchae. They have refrigerators, grab your own drinks, beer and socks. They top off banchans at your request, the bran sprouts were amazing! Not sure if this is the place to go for Korean BBQ but decent korean standards.
Was visiting San Antonio for a WWE event, and we stopped by the neighborhood Korean spot on our way out. I think we were getting there right when they were opening, so it took a few minutes to get menus. We decided to go with the lunchbox specials (bento). My gf got galbi (short ribs), and I had the stir fried squid ( 🌶🔥) . Spicy stir fried squid is one of my favorite go-to Korean dishes. I enjoyed mine. The squid was cooked very well and tender. However my the galbi my gf had was not as good as my dish wash. It's just that the ribs were mostly fat and not very much meat, and therefore wasn't able to finish and just ate the sides. I think maybe the quality of ribs were just off this time, being our first time there, so I don't want to knock this place by any means. I can tell this place also has a regular, loyal clientele. Someone was putting together a party in a party room. They had a good selection of beverages and Asian imported beer. There is plenty of seating.
My director and I are in San Antonio for #ANC25, and when it comes to food, we have very particular palates. Spice levels, in particular, can make or break a meal for us! Our original plan was to dive into some traditional Southern barbecue, but we ended up with a different, equally delicious kind: Korean barbecue at Chas Market. Chas Market isn't just a restaurant; it's a piece of San Antonio history, a true testament to how diverse cultures coexist and share their culinary traditions. As we ventured from our hotel, we drove through the stunning neighborhood of Olmos Park. Seriously, the tree-lined streets were incredible, and the houses were those "mega-mansion" sized homes everyone talks about when they visit Texas. It was quite a sight! Upon arriving at Chas Market, we followed the "seat yourself" sign. There was a minor hiccup with our grill at the first table, but the staff quickly helped us move to another table with higher benches. The picnic-style seating, complete with a built-in grill, was perfect. (They also have tables without grills for those ordering soups and other kitchen-prepared items.) The process is simple: you pick three meats at a time, with some even prepared in the kitchen for enhanced flavor. We kicked things off with an array of complimentary side condiments, including various pickles, kimchi, marinated sprouts, and yellow radish. Then came our chosen meats: Bulgogi, Shrimp, and Short Ribs. Each meal comes with rice, and you can order lettuce wraps on the side. We enjoyed grilling some of our selections right at the table and received others perfectly prepared from the kitchen. By the end, both my director and I were incredibly pleased and completely full! Beyond the fantastic food, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was super attentive and supportive, making our first Korean BBQ experience a memorable one. I'm so grateful for the company and the time spent discovering this unique San Antonio gem.
The food was okay, a little bland. I was disappointed that I had to buy the extra sides with my Bibimbop meal when most Korean Restaurants provide it free with any meal bought. I was also disappointed that my meal only had about 4 strips of beef in it. I paid $16 for the meal alone and got mostly veggies, rice, and a single egg. The staff were friendly but not very prompt. I sat for about 10 minutes before my order was taken and I had to walk up to them to get my bill once I was done because they were taking awhile. Overall, it was okay but I don't think I'd come back.
Something strange going on here. I ordered from the Mexican food side. My friend ordered from the Korean side. The waitress combined our tickets without asking, with no explanation. I ordered at the Mexican food counter where I got my ticket. Looks like the waitress was poaching orders from the other side of the restaraunt. It's strange because my friend was given utensils to go with their food and the waitress didn't leave a set for me. She came to the table with 2 sets. Found out I was ordering from the Mexican food counter, and didn't leave me a set. That seems like they are separate even though they are under one roof. If I was the Mexican side I would keep an eye on those tricky folks on the Korean side.
This was the worst customer service we have ever received. We sat down and nobody approached us until we went to call the waitress. They did not bring the cutlery when they brought out the food. We had to constantly look for them to get anything including our food. The food was not good at especially beef short rib soup. I would not recommend it.
