Stopped by NOLA for brunch in San Antonio and it was a great way to start the day. We ordered the marinated beef po’boy with chipotle sauce and the Green Eggs and Ham, both served with crispy breakfast potatoes. The po’boy was packed with tender, flavorful beef and the chipotle sauce added just the right amount of smoky kick. The Green Eggs and Ham was rich and savory, topped with a perfectly cooked egg and a bright green sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right. Overall, it was a delightful, hearty brunch — flavorful, filling, and satisfying. Definitely a solid brunch spot if you’re exploring San Antonio and looking for something comforting with a little New Orleans flair.
Very popular brunch restaurant that was recommended to me. After visiting, I can confirm this is a great place for having a brunch any day of the week. The cuisine is based of Louisiana Creole/Gulf Coast food style, and I can confirm they are authentically delicious. They also serve delicious cocktails to pair up with the authentic cuisine. Service was fast, professional, and friendly. This is the perfect place to take the family/groups in the Northeast San Antonio downtown area. It’s close to the Pearl area, a famous district known for its shopping and restaurants. Despite that, this restaurant can compete with the famous spots on the Pearl.
My wife, daughter, and I decided to celebrate Fat Tuesday at NOLA Brunch, and I’m so glad we did. With my deep Creole roots and rich Louisiana history, I have high expectations when it comes to New Orleans cuisine — and NOLA absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt authentic, vibrant, and welcoming. The energy was exactly what you want on Fat Tuesday. Our server was exceptional — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The service truly elevated the entire experience. Now let’s talk about the food — outstanding. Every dish was packed with flavor and true New Orleans character. You can tell they take pride in their recipes. And their Happy Hour is a major plus. We arrived right after work and caught it at the perfect time. By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door — and rightfully so. That tells you everything you need to know. If you’re craving authentic New Orleans flavors, NOLA Brunch is the place to be. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks, NOLA!
NOW OPEN FOR DINNER Y’ALL — and the FAMED cookhouse bbq shrimp are back! Gumbo & Cajun meat pies were 10/10 tonight — sure to please even the snobbiest of gumbo fans. I stand by this statement — the bbq shrimp just might be the best dish in San Antonio — at least top 5. Great food, good people, can’t wait to come back. I hear there will be live music thursdays soon…
Went for brunch with my spouse and my two female cousins and had a great experience all around 🌊 We arrived earlier than planned and had a reservation at 9:15 a.m., which worked out perfectly. We were greeted right away and seated immediately. Our server Joselyn (I believe that was her name) was warm, welcoming, and very knowledgeable — service flowed smoothly the entire visit 🙌 We started with the boudin balls and Cajun meat pies and wow… both were outstanding. Crispy on the outside, steamy and flavorful on the inside, and perfectly seasoned through and through. The remoulade added a great extra layer, but honestly they didn’t even need it 🔥 One cousin arrived late, but we ordered her the classic beignets ahead of time — she crushed the entire plate by herself 😅 Definitely ordering my own next visit. For entrees: • Green Eggs & Ham (Cajun-style open-faced Benedict) — well made and flavorful, just not what my cousin was craving that morning. • Crawfish Étouffée — silky, aromatic, and deeply flavorful with a rich roux and sweet crawfish. Even impressed my picky spouse 👏 • Red Beans & Rice — rustic, comforting, and packed with flavor. Smoky andouille, deep savory gravy, and perfectly satisfying. • Catfish Po’Boy — easily one of the best I’ve had in San Antonio. Perfectly fried catfish, Cajun mayo, fresh veggies, and a classic po’boy roll. Absolute must-try 🐟🔥 Drinks were solid too 🍺 The Devil’s IPA stacked up very well next to my all-time favorite Jellyfish IPA — citrus-forward, tropical, smooth, and dangerously drinkable. Hot chocolate, latte, and chai latte were all excellent as well ☕️ Atmosphere was great 🎶 Loved the music playlist — refreshing and different from the usual brunch spots. Restrooms were super clean and quiet, which I always appreciate. Overall: great food, great service, great vibes. We had an awesome time and will definitely be back to try more of the menu 🌊
Whyyyyyy had I not been here before??? 😭 Everything was great... Even the wait for a table! Great vibe, great service, and incredible food. I started with a hot vanilla latte with oat milk. While I sipped on that I waited for my order of boudin balls and let me tell you, I've had balls but these balls were sooooo delicious! 😋 Next, I couldn't decide between the shrimp and grits, shrimp Creole, or catfish poor boy, so I ordered the blue Crab omelette and 🤌🤌🤌 I savored every bite! After a little breather I ordered beignets (1 plain, 1 lemon) and omg they were perfecto!
After Dark at NOLA/NOLA at Night was all we imagined and then some! Bringing back the nostalgia of one of our old faves, The Cookhouse, Peter brought it all back to life in just this 1 meal! Stephen and Jenna, were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Thank you both for the outstanding love, hospitality, and service! No words can describe how great our experience was last night! We enjoyed a little bit of everything !! For starters, we ordered the boudin balls and blue crab purses! The remoulade was perfectly savory! Oh and we also tried their chargrilled oysters and holy cow, I’m not even an oyster fan but after trying 1, I had to eat another!! They were so freakn good! Our entrees were the Wagyu steak and I had the chicken & beignets tasting even better than Cafe du Monde, which I just returned from last week! Although we were stuffed, we just had to taste the Bread Pudding and O-M-G absolutely scrumptious! Lastly, don’t even get me started on the drinks! We each ordered 3 different ones and they were some of the best tasting EVER! It was all 🔥 MUST COME!!!
When I tell you this was the best food…👏👏👏 wife and I came for an event we had to perform at and stopped by for brunch. I got the boudin omelette and when I tell you that was the best omelette I’ve ever had! Hats off to the chef. Plus the service was wonderful and they really create a great comfortable nice atmosphere. The grits were great, the beignets were great as well So glad we came here!
We checked this place out for breakfast before heading home to Houston and very glad we did. We reserved a table earlier in the morning, but the wait was still short even if you just walked in. We ordered the classic beignets which were perfectly light & fluffy, the cafe au lait which was an excellent cup, along with the bananas foster pancakes, and the NOLA brunch plate. My husband loved the pancakes (which were a tad sweet for me personally, but were excellent nonetheless). The grits on my brunch plate were fantastic. Can’t wait to come back and try the crab omelette and a few other items. Service was great, too. We will definitely be back.
We had our company holiday brunch here — it was wonderful! The seasonal beignets were to-die-for, and the whole table shared food and tried everything, so I can confidently say the menu is dank. In my opinion, the star of the table was the stone-ground grits. I’d eat those every day!! Our server was a delight, and the interior is so fun. Love the big murals!
Best beignets in town! We have wanted to try NOLA for a while now & we finally got a chance recently. We decided to have some omelettes & then enjoy some beignets. We decided on the Blue Crab Omelette & the Boudin Omelette. Both were delicious in their own way, but the side of Brabant Potatoes were the star on the plate. The blue crab omelette was fluffy, light & airy. Our waiter suggested a side of avocado went well with it so I added it, he was right. The Boudin omelette was delicious because it had the perfect punch of spice in it, not too much. What really hit the spot were the beignets. They came out to use fresh & hot. We knew they had been freshly made because they were just perfect pillowy pastries that just melted in our mouths. We chose an order of Mixed which included 1 classic, 1 lemon, 1 chocolate & the seasonal which was the Reese’s Pieces peanut butter. All of them were just delicious! 😋 Our waiter was great too. He was there when we needed him & out of our way while we enjoyed our meal. We will definitely stop in for more beignets, those were the highlight of our meal.
I had the Nola Brunch, and he had the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pancakes w Turkey Patties and Potatoes. The Nola Brunch was good, the grits were nice and creamy ( I added cheese), and the eggs were scrambled however A bit too soft for me, but I could have asked for them to be hard scrambled. Praline bacon was tasty 😋 not very crispy. I sampled the chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes, and they're so good that no syrup was necessary. Our waitress I think her name is Monette she was very friendly and accommodating. Plus, our food came quickly after we ordered. On the way out, we ordered beignets to go I tried the lemon curd beignet once I got home...it was still warm too...so Yummy 😋 Only.parking may be the minius **** I'd definitely eat here "Again" (They are only open for breakfast and lunch)
Came with an 8:45 Sunday breakfast reservation and it was nice and quiet, a little cooler and we sat outside. Brought 2 out of town friends, this is my second time here. I love cafe du monde so this is the next best thing here. Beignets are delicious, personally I’m a classic girlie but we did order variety bc why not. Then I ordered NOLA plate and added shrimp and avocado which was spectacular. My friend got the garden omelette and my other friend ordered same as me plus a biscuit. Everything was perfect and our service was excellent. I forgot his name but he was a thin young man who made us feel welcome and relaxed. Really enjoyed having him. I will continue to bring my friends that visit me here. Yummy! The were impressed!
If your looking to the best service in town where everyone is friendly authentic and wearing a smile in a building built for excellence your in the right place. The fried chicken was some of the best poultry my pallet has ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The lemon beignets and original where fresh and flavorful and my wofe loved the biscuit plate she got. It was her and my sons birthday and they went above and beyond. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Will be back in the future without a doubt.
We stopped by here for a quick brunch and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and sweet. She checked on us and made sure our waters were filled. She also gave us time estimates for our food. We had the beignets, banana foster pancakes, cajun chilaquiles, and iced lattes. The beignets took a while to come out but the other two dishes came out pretty quick. The beignets here are very good. I wouldn’t say they compare to actual NOLA beignets, but I wouldn’t expect them to. The banana foster pancakes were delicious. I would come back here for those alone. The lattes were typical and did the job. The cajun chilaquiles were kind of a let down. The chips did not have enough sauce on them and the over easy egg was not runny at all. The restaurant was cute and clean. I have no complaints there. All of the food is very aesthetically appealing as well. I would come back here to try their other dishes and to get the banana foster pancakes again.
Cajun versions of your favorite comfort meals, with some creative energy thrown in. In San Antonio it’s usually not an issue, but everything has some Cajun kick to it. The mimosas and sparkling drink are great breakfast/brunch accompaniment. Atmospherics were dinged because of the noisy pets and neighbors (CrossFit gym next door). But it is a downtown location in an ‘Arts’ kind of district, so just be aware. All of that made parking particularly bad. If you like Cajun creativity and a downtown feel, this is your place!
Went on a recommendation with friends who've been a few times already. Great location on Broadway not far from Pearl, SAMA or downtown, small private parking lot is also helpful. Welcoming ambience with plenty of inside and outside seating for small and larger groups, enjoyed the lovely wall art, open concept windows and lots of natural lighting. Even the bathroom colors and decor are modern with a nice esthetic. The menu offers mostly traditional Louisiana or southern foods ( praline, boudin, beignets, crab, shrimp etc ) with a few more common brunch options ( pancakes, omlettes etc.). I had the boudin and cream cheese omlette, comes with brabant potatoes (similar to crispy home fries)- it was tasty. Glad that they keep Louisiana hot sauce on the table, which I definitely used since I prefer heat on my eggs. Others at my table all liked their plates, we had a combo the traditional and southern dishes. Personally I like to eat more veggies and fruit, so I gave 4 stars on the food only b/c I haven't tried the rest of the menu yet. Service was friendly and attentive, prices fair/comparablefoe that part of town. Look forward to visiting again. Thanks NOLA B & B for a nice first time.
Found the place looking for dog friendly options in the area. They have this cute Dog's Menu that you can choose from, my dog loved his pancakes so much he actually licked the bowl! (Now that I think about it, it may not be a great selling point) My breakfast was great too, I didn't licked my plate though, but I could've if my wife had looked somewhere else long enough. Anyways, we ate outside, so can't speak about the atmosphere inside. Service was adequate, not vanishing at all, nor checking on us every other minute. Would go back to try a different plate.
The food was great, but the service was not. Our server repeatedly over-explained menu items and emphasized upcharges without being asked, including explaining chilaquiles as “their take” and making unnecessary comments about pricing. When someone declined avocado, the response was, “so you don’t want the extra charge,” which felt pointed and inappropriate. As a Hispanic group, the repeated assumptions around cost and knowledge of the food came across as microaggressive. We were also ignored when trying to get our server’s attention. It was consistent enough to make us feel othered. We won’t be returning.
