I took my dog Hank to the dog park on Sunday. He had a great time playing with all the dogs. The food was good the margaritas were great and the atmosphere was amazing!!! Great family fun.
I stumbled upon Hops and Hounds while enjoying the River Walk. Plenty of space to enjoy with your pup and human friends. Food was delicious and fairly priced.
What a cool spot. I didn’t know about this hidden gem. Dogs, dog park, beer, open spaces and good music. What more could you ask for? If you say food well then you got food here too. A couple food trucks and some little shops. It’s a great hang and it’s on the river too. Little more off the beaten path but very much worth the ambiance.
Stopped by for a relaxing, outdoor lunch on a Saturday. It was early, so it wasn't too crowded. There were plenty of open tables in on the covered patio as well as the shaded tables. As far as the dogs, there's separate areas for small and large dogs. There were a few misbehaved dogs, but most were well-behaved. There was live music that switched from singing with a guitar to a DJ later on int the afternoon. It's walk-up service where you order all your drinks and food at the bar, then they bring it out to you. There were a lot of food options from nachos, burgers, wings, salads, etc... For the drinks, had a nice selection from beer, cocktails, seasonal drinks, etc... Of course, they even have a pet friendly menu from unseasoned meats to whipped cream. Ordered the nachos, big dog burger, shrimp salad, dog whipped cream, and a few cocktails. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and all the food within 10 minutes. Wasn't expecting much from the food, but it was surprisingly good. Cocktails were good with a nice balance of alcohol with sweetness, so tried a few different ones. Areas were very clean and everyone did a good job of cleaning up after their pets. There were plenty of pet bags and water igloos throughout the outside area. Inside the dog play areas, there's chairs and table for owners to sit in the shade with their dogs. For safety reasons, food is not allowed in the play areas, but you an bring your drinks. Overall, nice place to have some food and drinks outside. Although though it's pet friendly, there were a lot of people who came just to enjoy the atmosphere.
The atmosphere is great for any dog lovers. The service is great, somewhat slow but only because the bar size is limited. The food is serviced through food trucks, hit or miss on if they are opened early. Also pretty. Of sitting space and giant screen for big games, smaller screens at the bar 🍺
Love love love this place! We brought our sweet pup on a Sunday afternoon and absolutely enjoyed our time. We let our little guy play for a bit, then grabbed food and drinks and let our guy play a little more. The other patrons were laid back and didn't mind when our excited pup jumped. The other pups were playful and inviting and made our guy feel at home. The food trucks were fun and the drinks were good! Hands down to this delightful place! We will most definitely return soon!!
BLUF: Downtown gem, if you have a dog, bring them, they’ll love it and so will you. Great drink specials, coffee, and food truck on site. As a downtown dog owner, I really can’t say enough good things about this place. My apartment has a small fenced in dog “park” but it pales in comparison to the offering here at Hops and Hounds. They have a big and small dog area, and during peak hours there’s a park attendant monitoring dog behaviors and keeping the area clean and safe. All of them are very attentive. Don’t have a dog? Still a great place to hang out and have a drink. They have several beers on draft, with rotating taps, all of the in-demand can options, and a full bar. They also recently added a coffee and pizza venue. Love the coffee, but I haven’t tried the pizza yet so I can speak to its quality. Weekly drink specials, of note are Margarita Mondays and Tap it Tuesday. The Monday offering is savings on their delicious margaritas, and the Tuesday offering is savings on any of their draft beers. Things worth knowing ahead of time: The dog park isn’t free, you have to download an app, and make an account even for a day pass. The day pass is $5, but there’s a monthly pass for $25 that is worth it if you live in the area. Children under 18 aren’t allowed in the dog park, for their safety and the dogs, which I appreciate. On weekends there’s a staffed bar that you can order drinks from without leaving the enclosed dog area. No on-site parking, but there’s a paid lot adjacent to their property, and earlier in the day you can parallel park on the street for free. (Street parking is always free, but there’s rarely open spots during peak hours) They have a food truck on site, Benjie’s Munch Truck is a mainstay, and sometimes they have a second food truck.
Hops & Hounds has become one of those places that just feels good to be at. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, grab a drink with friends, and enjoy great food from the variety of food trucks. What I love most is how welcoming and pet-friendly it is!! The dog park is such a bonus, and seeing the pups play always adds to the experience. They host trivia, game nights, and so many fun events, so there’s always something happening. Whether you’re meeting new people, spending time with your dogs, or just relaxing after a long day, it truly feels like a place where everyone belongs.
Hops & Hounds allowed us to host our Real Estate Team's 4th Annual "Howl-O-Ween" event in their beautiful space! 😍 The H&H crew was absolutely incredible in helping our firm's vision come to life! The space was perfect with its ample space between their wood benches and their tables & chairs. Plenty of room for friends and furry friends to stroll around. The trees canopy the area while the San Antonio River skirts the bottom edge of the park-like setting. BONUS: The Cuban sandwich from Benjie's is FIRE!! 🔥 The quaint little open-air bar is welcoming whether you sit and chat with the friendly bartenders or order from the walk-up windows. A super fun feature at Hops & Hounds is their amazing bark & play space for your playful pups of all sizes! 😂 You can sit and enjoy watching your doggos run through, on top, and around the various obstacles. My wife, Jennifer Alvarado, is the event coordinator for our brokerage, RE Solutions XV. And if you were at this year's event, you got to meet her when you registered your cute pets for the costume contests! If you missed this year's event, there's always next year! Until then, we encourage you to visit and support this wonderful place! They'll love your company and your fur babies, too! SPECIAL NOTE: This year's Howl-O-Ween event benefited AniMeals, a partnered organization of Meals-on-Wheels. We raised over $800 and brought in enough food to feed 100 pets next month! AniMeals helps feed the beloved pets of Seniors and Veterans. ❤️ And we were happy to have them on-site to witness the love and generosity of our community! Thank you, Hops & Hounds! And thank you to EVERYONE who participated this year! Your friends, Val Aranda A Wonderful Life Real Estate Group Jennifer Alvarado SocialHeights Networking Brokered by RE Solutions XV
Really cool and relaxed place to bring your dogs and have some drinks. There's plenty of space for you and your dog to chill. There's a bunch of tables and chairs and lots of TVs to watch a game. The drinks are good. I was pleasantly surprised by their beer selection. They don't have their own food, but they do have some food trucks in the corner of the place that have pretty solid food!
Hobbs & Hounds is such a gem for dog lovers and foodies alike! 🐾 The space is wide, full of energy, and packed with seating options—picnic tables, fans to keep you cool, and plenty of screens to catch the game while you enjoy food from the taco trucks and drinks from the bar. The highlight is definitely the dog play area: ramps, toys, balls, and open space where pups can run freely off leash while owners relax. Families, friends, and their four-legged companions all have a spot here. And let’s not forget the music—DJ Anthony (switchbladedave) kept the atmosphere alive with great beats, adding to the fun vibe of the patio. It really makes the place not just a hangout, but an experience. We’re also thrilled to share that Hobbs & Hounds is now No Pet Policy™ Approved ✅. Supporting local, supporting community, and opening their doors to our four-legged partners.
I really love this place. I foud this hops & hounds better put together than the other one. Which I heard was closed down to several reasons. They have someone at the gates monitoring the larger dog park area and the smaller dog park area. She is very friendly, kind and amazing and well knowledgeable about dogs. You can tell one she has a deep understanding of animals and a great love for animals. I also think it's cool that they have this bathe your dog station. After play time is offer. Is $15 for 20min. We have two small Bostons so we knock two birds with one stone. And she gave us some towels to dry them since they were not having it with the blow dryer lol My babies were so happy to interact with other dogs. And they other dog parents were very polite and friendly. I had a very pleasant experience and I can't wait to go back and I am sure my fur babies either. The bathroom facility were c Kept clean and if there was an issue you just bring it to their attention and they take care of it right away. I love how attentive they were to keep a bathroom clean for their customers. If I could give more than five stars I would. As for food trucks. The options they had the day we went....Lobster truck very delicious but super expensive. Amazingly good but will I buy again for the price nah. Another food truck had different selection probably american food/Tex Mex maybe. My daughter hater the corn in the cup. I don't like it to begin with but I tried a bit and I have to agree it tasted like vomit. So um we kept it safe and exchanged for just plane fries. The other truck wasn't working that day. The bar has good mix drinks, over price if you ask me. But I got it for my husband. It was good he like it. ***Military Discount accepted here***
Wow!! Anytime we travel, we look for a dog friendly place that has an off leash area for the pups. This place is wonderful. The pizza was delish the coffee drinks were so good and the staff was friendly. The dog park area had tons of room and fun activities for the pups. This is a MUST stop if you have dogs. Let them get out and run around while you grab a bite to eat. Very clean and safe area for them to play in. Great job, whoever owns this!! We definitely will be back here if we are in TX again. Thanks for the fun time
We were at Elsewhere next door when their ability for making cocktails left little to be desired. Meandered over to Hops and Hounds where they made us really good cocktails and mocktails. Cute place that had an agility course for your pups. Bartenders were super nice and the restrooms were clean. Glad we came upon this little spot.
The is an amazing place to take your dogs. I love Hops and Hounds. They have an amazing dog park that they provide for our fur babies water dishes, kiddie pools with water, fans, obstacles. You can also sit and relax while watching the game. Eat...drink and have a puppy blast. Highly recommend.
My dogs can never get enough of Hops!! Love the food trucks, happy hour deals, trivia, bingo…they have it all! The workers are so kind. They love on my babies every time we are there and always make sure we have water in our bowls. We do the monthly pass and it has been more than worth it. Love love love this place.
So much fun!! And family friendly - not sure what the other reviews I’ve seen are talking about… leash-free area just requires an owner 18+ to be supervising like most public dog parks do anyways. Off leash area is $5/day or $25/month and kept much nicer than a public dog park. There are two sections (smaller dog and bigger dog). Helpful employees, fairly priced delicious food and drinks, bathrooms good, really nice area and ambience. My wife and I (and our dog Pickle) will be regulars here for sure!

They have a great selection of beers and liquor. This place has Mango Cart beer which made my day. This is a very low key place so dress comfortably and bring your dog.

This is our go to spot. The staff is phenomenal. The drinks are delicious and happy hour takes the cake. We love that we can bring our kids AND our dogs so they can play!
I would love to give it 5 stars, but often the outdoor music is still too loud for even outdoor communication, there's not great monitoring of people leaving their dog mess around the eating areas (not enough staff or consequences for dog owners that don't use the dog poop materials provided for clean up). No cash is allowed for the coffee or beverage counter on site, so come prepared. The food is awesome at each of the trucks available. There are plenty of places to sit, with water stations posted in several spots. Staff has maintained friendly demeanor regardless of what time I've arrived, and there are plenty of shaded areas for people and pups. Plenty of room to work on your puppy/dog skills, just like any area for dogs/food/drinks, be mindful of your dog's manners and ask before up to pet new dogs!
I do enjoy this place a lot! However not a ton of food options. What they do have is good. The bartenders are very kind and my dog enjoys the attendants. Lots of different types of dogs and they have…

My husband and I were looking for a place to watch the NFL playoff game with some friends, and we stopped by the day before the game to ask if they would show the game. The bartender told us that the game would be on, the game sound would be played through the loud speakers, and there would be beer deals. So we had our friends meet us the next day. When we arrived, the game was on, but there was a DJ playing club music , and there were no beer deals whatsoever. There were probably 40-50 people there specifically to watch the game, and they all had to yell over the music to talk to each other and ask what was happening in the game because there was no sound. Our dog and about half of the other dogs there were shaking and terrified because of the loud bass speakers (at a place thats supposedly specifically designed for dogs and their owners) and none of the people there seemed to be enjoy the music whatsoever. Rather, they were frustrated that they had to deal with it while trying to watch the game. We ended up leaving early because our dog was too scared and we weren't able to enjoy the game with our friends because of the music. It was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. A waste of time and money, especially when we don't get to get together with our friends often it felt like this was a ruined opportunity. Especially since we stopped by the day before to ask specifically about the game and the sound, and we were given wildly incorrect information that ended up ruining our day.
It was very quiet, and I sat at the bar for about 25 minutes without being served (still waiting). On top of that, there was an aggressive dog in the dog park, and staff did not step in to remove it, even though the dog clearly wasn’t comfortable being there. This was disappointing, especially because I’ve had good experiences here before. On occasion, service has been decent, and the dog park is usually full of friendly dogs. Staff has typically been proactive about enforcing rules and addressing aggressive behavior, which is why today felt like an exception rather than the norm.
If you're hoping to catch a spurs game go somewhere else. Asked to watch the game and play the audio, but staff refused. Vibes were dead she was way too loud on a Sunday night
Attended for day off & friends dogs 5th bday party. Older mans black shepherd was out of control dragging my frenchie by its harness around constantly picking on him. When addressing owner they came at me aggressively despite multiple reports nothing was done. I left for own good & fact he could stay is not right. Was told to deal with it or leave with threats. Not what I thought this place represented
