Steak 48 is an absolute experience, not just a dinner. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale yet warm. The service is exceptional—attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. The steaks are cooked to perfection, rich in flavor, and incredibly tender. You can taste the quality in every bite. The sides are just as memorable—generous portions, beautifully presented, and meant to be shared. The seafood options and appetizers are equally impressive, making it hard to choose just one highlight. To top it off, the cocktail and wine selection is thoughtfully curated and pairs perfectly with the menu. Steak 48 sets the standard for a high-end steakhouse: refined, consistent, and worth every visit. Highly recommended for special occasions or when you simply want an unforgettable meal. ⸻ If you want it shorter, more casual, or extra luxurious/poetic, tell me and I’ll tailor it to your style. 🥩✨

Steak 48 Del Mar is an amazing spot for celebrations! We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday and my sister and her husband's retirement here, and it was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was elegant, the service was outstanding, and the food was simply delicious. The 28-day aged steaks were cooked to perfection, and every side dish was beautifully prepared and flavorful. Our server, Bryce, was not only attentive and kind but also very charming. We had such a wonderful experience and will definitely return for future special occasions. Thank you, Steak 48 Del Mar, for making our celebrations so memorable! 😊

Goodness. Not sure there’s a better steak in San Diego. Was pleasantly surprised by our first visit there. Granted it cost a bit but we felt it was well worth the price. Everything was incredible and most of it was suggested to us. Strip steak, mushrooms were amazing and the vanilla gelato w cake to cap it off was the perfect end!

My first time there and I'll definitely be back. Probably the 2nd best NY strip, a close second behind Friday-Saturday-Sunday in Philly. The best tartar I've ever had. The hanging bacon was ridiculously good but it is bacon. The crispy shrimp something was phenomenal. The service was great!

A dinner where everything goes perfectly? It exists — and it’s called Steak 48 Del Mar. From the complimentary bread to the final sip, everything was on point. We went to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday — he’s a huge fan of the place — and I totally get why. The ambiance, service, and every single dish were worthy of the occasion. It was my first time at this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We were welcomed with a warm skillet bread, freshly baked and buttery as can be. We devoured it. To kick things off, we ordered a couple of Aperol Spritz, perfectly balanced and super refreshing. Just the right mood-setter. For starters, we had the Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi (the one in the photo) and the Rhode Island Calamari & Shrimp — which didn’t even last long enough for a picture. Both were light and beautifully prepared, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. For the main course, my wife and I shared a roasted beet salad and a 45-Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye (22oz) cooked medium to medium-well… and wow. Flavor, texture, marbling, seasoning, fat — everything was on point. We added a side of truffle butter for the steak and some unforgettable mac & cheese. The food was so good we didn’t even leave room for dessert. We just wrapped it all up with an espresso martini that hit the spot. Steak 48 Del Mar is one of those spots where everything adds up: top-tier service, classy-yet-relaxed ambiance, and a kitchen that overdelivers. No doubt, we’ll be back.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Steak 48, and it was absolutely perfect. The steaks were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The service was spot-on from start to finish; attentive without being overbearing, and every detail was handled with care. The ambiance was warm, elegant, and romantic, which made it the perfect setting for such a special occasion. Steak 48 made our milestone anniversary truly memorable, and we can’t wait to come back!

There has not been a day that I do not think about the break at steak 48. It was insanely good. So juicy, crunchy at the top with a sizzling buttery texture. So delicious within one bite. Golden and glossy on the outside, like it’s been lovingly brushed with melted butter more than once. The crust looks soft, giving way to a pillowy, pull-apart interior that’s moist and tender, the kind that sighs when you tear into it. That sheen tells me it’s rich, slightly sweet, and indulgent, probably leaving a buttery warmth on your fingers and a “just one more bite” problem on your hands. I had 4 pieces of this bread. I’m not even exaggerating. The fork sinking in? That’s a universal sign of fluffy, melt in your mouth decadence. This isn’t just bread. This is the kind of bread that steals the spotlight from the main dish and has everyone hovering around it like. Everyone needs to try this bread.

We celebrated our anniversary here. The hand written note thanking us and personalized dessert elevated the night. The steak was amazing. I was surprised by them overcooking and a shell in my lobster. Overall the service was amazing, the food was great, and the drinks/wine were delicious. You definitely need a reservation.

I did not have high expectations for this place but i can honestly say, everything about our dinner was phenomenal. The esthetics were modern and sleek. The food was phenomenal and I cannot say enough about their service. Shoutout to Veronica who took care of us. All of our steaks tatsed and great and cooked to our liking. The drinks added another element to the dinner. And to top it off, the two desserts who got ended the night perfectly. Highly recommend.

Establishments are measured not only by how the food and service is but on how they proactively handle perceived issues. This place is at the forefront and should be utilized in training on what to do when things don’t go 100%. Erika was fabulous and it’s evident management has empowered their staff to do the right thing. We had the 45 day dry aged ribeye, a couple of cade estate glasses along with the heirloom salad. We will definitely be back soon.

Steak 48 is amazing! Consistent excellence is the best way to describe this restaurant. You will always have amazing service and food every single time. I've tried almost the whole menu and they just don't miss. I've been to Ocean 48 and also Dominick's numerous times and this is by far my favorite location. I visit this location often and i'm always welcomed with a welcome back Tyler and a smile!

I am appending my review from 4 stars to 5 stars. This restaurant listens! Was just there Saturday night for my 70th Birthday. Everything was perfect. Steaks no longer salty. The sweet potatoes with pecans were out of this world, as were the tempura deviled eggs. A perfect dining experience We had dinner for four last night at this location. 2nd. time there. We are regulars at high-end dining establishments in San Diego Country. The atmosphere/vibe is outstanding. Service is impeccable. Now onto the food. Incredible appetizers. GIANT $25 martinis (worth it). Great wine selection. I give everything 5 stars exept the steaks. We has filet mignons. We voted together with one conclusion - great cut of meat - cooked perfectly-- WAY too salty. So salty it brought down the steaks from 5 stars to 4 stars, I hope management of the restaurant reads this review. At $67 per steak, it was frankly a dissapointment. "It's all in the preparation". That being said, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone, but PLEASE, back off the salt/seasoning on your meats. The blue cheese wedge salad was fabulous with the big bacon chunks - wow. "Loaded" baked potato I only give a 4 stars. Same for the au gratin type potatoes. Their bread is hands-down the beast on earth - you cannot top their bread.

This was my second visit here and the food was absolutely amazing. It was my bf birthday everything was superior. The advertisers are big enough to share. I had the chicken fried lobster tails OMG the flavors bomb. Also the New England lobster rolls the butter melts in your mouth and full of meat. Everything was so delicious, definitely my new favorite place.

Steak 48 Del Mar is the kind of place that quietly sets the standard—high-performance dining without the chaos. From start to finish, the experience was dialed in. Every item my colleagues and I ordered was cooked to perfection, and we genuinely enjoyed everything that hit the table. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing, and it shows in the consistency and execution. We didn’t make it to the dessert bar this time, but honestly, even watching it from nearby felt like its own experience. The presentation, the pace, the craftsmanship—everything coming out looked seriously tempting and made it obvious we’ll need a round two just for that. The restaurant itself is excellent: dim lighting, a polished vibe, and—crucially—not overly loud. It felt upscale but still comfortable, like you can actually have a conversation and enjoy the moment. Overall, a wonderful experience and absolutely on my shortlist for top steak spots. I’ll be back the next time I’m in town.

We’ve dined at Steak 48 several times, but this visit truly stood out thanks to Brian Meyers. He took incredible care of us from start to finish—patient, attentive, and genuinely friendly. He made us laugh throughout the night and created such a fun, welcoming experience. Brian was especially helpful when it came to choosing wine—very knowledgeable and guided us to a perfect selection. His service really elevated the entire evening. We even made sure to tell manager Justin that Brian deserves high marks for how well he treated us. As always, the food was phenomenal. The dry-aged ribeye was cooked perfectly, and we highly recommend the crispy shrimp and the corn crème brûlée. The crab enhancement was also superb, and the bread remains one of our favorite parts of the meal. We’ll definitely be coming back—and we’ll be asking for Brian every time!

We just celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary for dinner and it also was our first time dining at S48. Our experience could not have been better! We had the most amazing experience and were treated so well starting with our booth we were given. It was located deep within the restaurant where their 2nd bar is. We were greeted with a had written congratulatory card signed by Kris, the GM of S48. Our server Conner took outstanding care of us the entire night, as did the others who assisted with our dinner service (Darren & Derek). We loved their house bread which was hot off the oven and soo good! We followed that with their delicious Hamachi Yellowtail appetizer, before sharing their 18oz bone-in filet mignon with truffle butter, sautéed mushrooms, and shells (macaroni) & cheese. Everything was cooked to our liking and it was all mouth watering good! My wife had their walnut cocktail followed by a dark rye Basil Hayden, while I opted for a non-alcoholic Athletic “upside down” beer. To cap off the dinner, Conner suggested his favorite dessert, their key lime pie, which we savored so much, we ate just a portion so we could have more upon arriving home. One of the dining room managers, Peter, dropped by to ensure everything was to our liking. We can’t believe it took so long for us to try S48 and wished we had dined here much earlier. S48’s definitely in our top 2 as far as steakhouses in San Diego county! We can’t brag about this restaurant enough…

Steak 48 absolutely delivered. The food was phenomenal and the service was top-tier from start to finish. The ambiance alone sets the tone—it makes you feel expensive the moment you walk in. Even the restrooms were impressive (which says a lot 😂). Yes, the prices are higher compared to other steakhouses, but the quality backs it up. Every dish was delicious and well worth the spend. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable, walked us through the menu, and even suggested off-menu items that were spot on. We celebrated New Year’s here, and my family truly enjoyed the entire experience. This place knows how to execute—from food to service to atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Service – Thank You, Peter! I want to give a huge five-star review to Peter, our waiter at 48 Steakhouse in Del Mar. His service was absolutely top-tier from start to finish. Peter was professional, attentive, friendly, and truly cared about making our experience special. He made my birthday so much happier, and that means everything. His attitude, energy, and attention to detail completely changed our night and reminded us what real hospitality looks like. Because of Peter, I will always come back to this restaurant, and I will gladly give him five stars for life every time I’m here. He is the kind of employee every restaurant needs and should be proud of. Thank you, Peter, for an amazing experience and for making my birthday memorable. Highly recommended!

Most steakhouse places in San Diego I find overpriced and not worth it. However, Steak 48 makes the experience and food worth it. For once I dont have to cook a steak at home. Service is just right without rushing you like most places do and they designed the place to be truly intimate. I wouldn't go everyday or time I wanted a steak and save it for special occasions, but go, enjoy, relax, and be taken care of. I recommend trying a steak type you dont try often and some of the Wagyu cuts are worth the price. I normally rate: 1 star dont go 2 star is average food and would only go if you're in a bind, or it had poor service, or it was very overpriced for the quality of food. 3 star above average. good rating for me. id go again. 4 star is great. lots of perks and bonuses and better than the average spot. 5 star is absolutely recommend and must go for a variety of reasons.

Went for a birthday dinner with my husband. Had reservations and still had a little wait but it was the holidays so possibly the reason why. Service was okay took a while for waiter to greet us and took a while at the end of dinner to come back to the table. The food was delicious. Had the Wagyu steak and it was so tender, juicy and flavorful buttery taste, probably the best steak I have had. Mashed potatoes were delicious. My husband loved the cauliflower. Best part of the dinner were the rolls(bread lover here) and the old fashioned drink were amazing. Overall great food and good option for special occasions.

Nice food and trendy ambiance, steep prices as expected. Full and must make a reservation. The meat was good, as expected. Appetizers and sides are varied but still on the upper end side (truffle, caviar, lobster, etc) and good but maybe too much for me. Wine was a great surprise, with a long by the glass menú and very fair prices (like double the regular amount is served here). Service was not great, very busy and kind of chaotic but nothing terrible, the place is very big and there are a lot of tables and a lot going on. Still felt on the pricier side and service was not on par. Good option for del mar but still don't think is worth the trip from downtown with so many great options there.

Had high, high hopes for this restaurant due to location and atmosphere when I walked in but my score dropped for a few reasons: Beer selection 3/5 - my beer came from a bottle? No good drafts and if you’re a steakhouse investor in some good taps. For my review I’d like a good IPA, hit a local one as I’ve had many good ones in that same shopping center. Steakhouses need a solid draft beer, but mine came from a bottle … whomp whomp. Food 3/5 - good looking rolls and they tasted good. My steak had zero seasoning despite being told it gets thrown in a broiler; pro tip hit it with some seasoning and broil it. The sides, cheesy mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts outshined the steak. My filet had a huge piece of gristle in the middle , and which would have brought this down more but the sides made up for it along with my bartender’s attentiveness. Atmosphere- 4/5 - this is a dark steak restaurant with cool meeting rooms and viewing areas for seafood and dessert. The bar has potential, but needs more draft beers and maybe some better apps. Overall-3/5 - I think I’ve gotten better steaks at Culinarily dropout and yummy food at nicks in the same shopping area. I’d be willing to try it again if I can get some seasoning or butters to make my steak be the star of the show.

This is one of those places to which you go for the ambiance, fantastic atmosphere and setting, somewhere where you can park your Ferrari at the door, a place to see and be seen. I would definitely go back. Just if you’re the kind of person who likes your stake medium-rare and appreciate perfection on your plate, order the pasta. Like I said, the place is fantastic, but it’s a place to have a great time and not be picky about the food. The food review is simple, terrible, overpriced, oversold simulated high cuisine that is really disappointing. The waiter warned us that the stake would come under done in a 500o plate so that it keeps cooking at the table. It came over done, and by the time the plate cooled down medium-rare, that came mediums, turned into medium-well. For me inedible, for most people it was, what it was. Again this is a place you go for the atmosphere, and that’s alright.

I’ll start with the good: 1) best steak you’ll ever have, no question 2) excellent servers and waiters/waitresses 3) very lively and upscale vibe. Dim-lit. Perfect for a date and mingling alike. What needs attention: I haven’t been to Steak 48 in a while, and I was truly looking forward to it as an early birthday celebration since I was able to make the reservation. My favorite dinner rolls came out cold, as did the butter cake at the end of the meal. They didn’t taste fresh at all. The mashed potatoes and broccoli also have a very overwhelming dose of butter incorporated in them, but at least they’re served hot and fresh with your entree. Aside from that, what was most appalling was how the bus boys HOVERED over our table the entire meal, cleaning our plates from the table before we were done with them, even after we explicitly said twice that we wanted to enjoy the first courses and there was no need to clear it out. Our appetizers were basically taken away from us and trashed. We started asking for boxes as the food came out to avoid the same thing happening to our entrees, which made for a very rushed and stressful meal. It wasn’t the best night unfortunately, and I don’t say that lightly considering this is my favorite steak restaurant. This place is expensive, and rightfully so… but the busboys need better training and manners. People come here to take their time and enjoy fine meals, they should never feel rushed or hovered-over.

For a $900 dinner for four, the service was unacceptable. We were seated at 9:40 PM, requested house and sparkling water, the sparkling water never arrived. We then waited roughly 15 minutes without a single check-in, even after our full party was seated. I had to flag down a staff member just to confirm we had a server. Angela eventually stepped in and was attentive, but the initial neglect set the tone. Food: • Australian Wagyu Ribeye & Filet (8/10) – Quality cuts, under-seasoned. • Corn Crème Brûlée , popcorn shrimp and pork belly (10/10) – Excellent. • House Bread (1/10) – Major miss due to the popcorn flavor and mushy dough. Service matters as much as food. We won’t be returning.

Steak 48 was an absolute disaster from start to finish. This place is overpriced, poorly managed, and does not deserve its reputation. The welcome was rude and cold. We immediately felt like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. Our server, Sean, was careless and uninterested in doing his job. He barely checked on us, showed no urgency, and showed zero concern for our experience. The food was burnt. At a steakhouse charging premium prices, that is embarrassing and unacceptable. When we asked for the check, we waited 45 minutes. Eventually, we had to track down the manager ourselves just to leave. Completely unacceptable service. We also asked for water, and without explanation, they brought bottled water and charged us $10 for it. That feels deceptive and wrong. What makes this even more frustrating is that we’ve been to Steak 48 two other times before and actually enjoyed it, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Because of how badly this visit was handled, we will not be returning. This visit was supposed to be special. We were celebrating my girlfriend’s acceptance to Harvard, clearly mentioned in the reservation along with a request for a booth and a more private space. All of it was ignored, and we were seated right next to the bar, loud and chaotic. To make things worse, I left a review about this experience two weeks ago, and it now appears to have been removed, which raises serious concerns about how this restaurant handles criticism. For a so-called luxury steakhouse, Steak 48 delivers careless staff, burnt food, misleading charges, and disrespect for guests. We gave this place multiple chances. We’re done.

We’re done.
