If you’re looking for some of the best authentic Persian food in San Diego, then Seaside Grill is the place to go. Its location and interior is beautiful, and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the Koobideh Kebab plate, which comes with your choice of two sides. They also serve you a completely bread and olive dish which pairs amazingly. Seaside grill is a staple in my restaurant rotation, will always be going here.
We drove down from Temecula for a beach day and stopped here to eat. The food is amazing and the servings are huge. The service was wonderful. My wife, son and I had a great experience. Highly recommend.
Delicious food. They have a secret menu item, not on the menu, Tahdig. 😋
Alborz used to be at Del Mar Heights Rd , I am not sure when they moved to their current location at Camino Del Mar. The new place is in a great location and has great food and great service. The interior decoration is nice as well. The menu has something for everyone. Presentation of the food is great. I ordered Chicken Shish Kabob , others ordered soltany and Beef Shish Kabob. We also had Yogurt with cucumber, maust mosir and shirazi salad.
You can enjoy a very nice ocean view, eat indoors or on the outdoor patio near the street but all are nice seats. We shared a delicious shish kabob plate w chicken & salmon, along w rice & salad. A generous plate of hummus & delicious olives. I also ordered a lamb gyro with tasty pita bread. Everything was tasty & well served w excellent service.
Del Mar, you are so lucky to have this outstanding restaurant. Hubby had the lamb shank, I had eggplant stew, and we shared ceviche appetizer. Everything was like homemade and with the best ingredients. All the best to everyone who made our night special. We will be back!
My Persian fiend introduced me to this place in Del Mar’s main center. Totally authentic and delicious! We shared a main (salmon kabob) Shirazi salad and roasted eggplant dip with carmelizes onions, and took home half of the food (generous portions) It’s local family-run and has a back deck with a view as well as sidewalk and indoor seating. Full bar.

Great Mediterranean restaurant in Del Mar area the food is combination of Persian and Mexican dishes. We were a group of 7 and we all enjoyed our various dishes, the kobbideh and shrimp skewers were very good and flavourful, the grilled seabass was delicious, my kids enjoyed their combo fajitas. I would highly recommend to check this spot out for authentic Persian or Mexican meal. Don't forget to get their churros as desert it was so good!!
This is our favorite place to eat. We usually get gyro plate with shirazi salad, it’s absolutely delicious. Service is great! If you sit in the back of the restaurant, you can also enjoy ocean view and sunset.
This was great. I had not realized that they had moved to this location and they did it many years ago. I had the lamb shank dinner. It was done perfectly..I really enjoyed it. We all had great food and really enjoyed it. Will be doing it again.
All the food was great. The service was also great. The restaurant is casual but nice. Tables at the of the restaurant and outside patio do have some ocean view. Just two things things you need to be aware of. Credit card payment is accepted but has a 3.5% additional charge. You can avoid this by paying in cash. Second, prices are higher than other similar restaurants. It's about $50.00+ per person without any alcohol beverage. They do offer a good variety of spirits. Remember, not all middle eastern restaurants are the same, different countries & regions have similar plates but different flavors. Servings are pretty generous.
Food, service, ambience, location were great. Went there twice in the past month, nice cozy table by the sidewalk, and nice cozy table in rear patio. We didn’t try the beef kabobs, but Salmon Kabob, Fesenjoon and Ghormeh Sabzi were delicious. We’ll visit again.
All 5 of us unanimously voted 5 stars after we left the restaurant. The atmosphere is classy, coastal, contemporary, and comfortable. We had one of the best Mediterranean food experiences in San Diego. Highly recommend.

Weeknight dinner review - The place itself and the environment is great. It was mostly empty with some outside tables occupied. Food itself is decent. The appetizers were great. We had Tahdig with Ghormeh and some kind of lentil stew, which was fantastic. The olive and cheese plate was pretty good as well. However my entree Sea Bass was very bland and had no flavor to it. It was pretty disappointing. Others had Salmon which they said was good. Service was decent.

Went for lunch on a Sunday. It was our first time at the restaurant. We had looked at the menu online only to find out their menu on Sundays is limited; however, the gentleman was kind and let us order the combo fish taco plate for my daughter and the combo kebab plate for my husband and me. Also, the view and fresh air made it even more special. We will definitely come back when we are around the area.
Atmosphere and ambience are both good. Appetizers acceptable. Drinks and deserts okay. When it comes to main courses specially Kebobs, there is a great debate. Quality not as expected. Meat not as tender as it should and taste was off. In general not a professional kebob at all.

Can't recommend this place. The food tasted good so that's great, but the chicken in the Fesenjan was dry and chewy (odd for chicken cooked in sauce...) The biggest problem was the service, and it got weird at the end. It took over 20 mins for someone to approach our table to begin with. We ordered and the food came out eventually, missing a side. We asked the person who brought the food about the missing side but she said "I don't know" and walked away. The server did not check in with us so someone from our party had to get up and go find someone. Finally sorted, we finished our meal and waited... And waited.... Finally flagged down our server who brought the check. This is where it got weird... Due to the poor service we intended to leave a little less than 20% tip. But she brought the machine and gave it to the man at the table (me) rather than the woman who was actually paying the bill. The device showed 20, 25, and 30% tip options. She pointed at 20 and said "is this good?" And I said "I don't know. I'm not paying the bill" and handed it to the woman who was further down the table and awkward to get to. This server squeezed behind me so that she could lean over her shoulder and watch what she put for the tip. She again said "is this ok?" And pointed to the 20%. This badass woman says "well actually no, we felt a bit ignored and had to do more than we should have so we are going to tip a little less." And painstakingly typed in a lower tip amount. Our server huffed and didn't say another word. Brought the to-go container and basically threw it at us and sprinted away. When service is at or above the bare minimum, we tip 20%. That was not the case today, and this awkwardness seals the deal, we will definitely not be back. Hopefully they do better in the future!

Recently, I had dinner at Alborz Seaside Grill. The ambiance and food were both good, though a bit pricey, the average cost per person is around $35. However, I was disappointed to find that they charge an additional 3.5% fee for credit card payments. What I found most uncomfortable was the way the bill was handled: the server brought the card machine to the table and stood over me while I entered the tip. I found that unprofessional. A better approach would be to process the payment and leave the check on the table, allowing guests to add the tip privately.
The Atmosphere and location is great , However This is not actually an authentic Persian Cuisine as i thought. The Barg kabab was not tender at all as i expected and the Koobideh kabab not tasteful too. However , the service is Ok , But i am not going back again if it happens to be in that area again .
Terrible behavior. The owners were rude and inconsiderate, showing a clear lack of hospitality. They placed a heavy glass in front of our six-year-old daughter, and when it was accidentally broken, they responded in a punitive and inappropriate manner. Their reaction upset her deeply and caused her to cry for the rest of the day—over something as simple as a glass of water. We expected a hospitable behavior from the owners, and unfortunately so disappointed. The ownership is in desperate need of learning hospitality and human interaction, especially with kids, or else they lose the entire community’s support for this restaurant. At this point, the behavior, and responses were so rude, that there is no way back to this place for any of us.
If I could give 0 stars, I would!! Our visit to Seaside Grill in Del Mar on 12/30/25 was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in San Diego, and we’ve been here several times before. The owner — who also insists on being the only waitress — continues to run the entire dining room alone. At this point, it feels less like a staffing issue and more like cost cutting, and it certainly shows. We ordered a drink for our 4‑year‑old daughter and specifically asked for something toddler‑friendly. Instead, it came in a large, heavy glass cup. Unsurprisingly, It slipped from her small hands and shattered. Rather than showing concern, the owner reacted with irritation and angst; almost as if she had never had a glass break ever before in her restaurant. Our daughter started crying, and the owner didn’t offer a single comforting word. Very cold demeanor, indeed. She cleaned the broken glass with her bare hands and two cloth napkins instead of a mop; she then had the audacity to go back into the kitchen to complain loudly to her husband. On top of all that, when we asked for a replacement drink, she charged us again! What?! I couldn't believe it....I can't make this stuff up! One of our chicken kabob plates had pieces that were completely raw inside. When we showed her, she acknowledged and offered to replace it — but didn’t offer any refund for serving raw poultry which we were already disgusted with. To top it off, the bill included an automatic 20% tip (calculated on the post‑tax amount btw) for the subpar service plus a 3–4% credit card fee. When I pointed out that tips should be calculated before tax, the owner seemed confused and irritated until her husband stepped in to correct her. Between the unsafe serving choices, the attitude, the raw food, and the questionable/deceiving billing practices, we won’t be returning. Trust me, I’ll continue telling friends and family to avoid this place.
I am writing this review to strongly caution others before dining here. The owner was also our waitress. We have been to this restaurant several times before and she has always served us, so this does not appear to be a staffing issue but rather a choice on her part. A drink (doogh) was served to my 4-year-old daughter in a large, heavy glass despite us clearly stating it was for a toddler and requesting an appropriate container. Predictably, the glass was accidentally knocked over by my child and shattered on the floor. Instead of responding with understanding or concern, the owner reacted with a visibly hostile attitude. The interaction was so uncomfortable that my daughter began crying. She was not consoled in any way. The owner cleaned the glass herself using cloth napkins instead of proper cleaning equipment and behaved as if this type of incident had never occurred in her restaurant. Shortly after, we overheard her loudly complaining about the situation to her husband in Farsi in the kitchen, which was extremely unprofessional. When we asked for another drink for our child, we were shocked to be charged again. One of the chicken kabob orders was served partially raw. We showed this to the owner. She offered a brief apology but did not offer a refund or any form of compensation. To make matters worse, a 20% tip was automatically added, along with an additional 3–4% credit card fee. The tip was calculated on the post-tax total, which is incorrect. When I raised this issue, the owner acted confused until her husband intervened and corrected her. This raised serious concerns about transparency and billing practices. It is also worth asking whether an owner should be automatically tipping themselves 20
This was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had, which is incredibly disappointing because we’ve been to Seaside Grill multiple times before. The owner was also our waitress, as she has been every time we’ve visited. This doesn’t seem like a staffing issue—it feels more like extreme frugality at the expense of basic service and safety. We ordered a doogh for our 4-year-old daughter and clearly told her it was for a toddler. Instead of a customary plastic cup, it was served in a large, heavy glass. Unsurprisingly, when my daughter accidentally bumped it, the glass fell and shattered on the floor. Rather than responding with concern or reassurance, the owner/waitress had a severe attitude. She did not comfort my visibly upset child at all—so much so that my daughter started crying from the reaction. She cleaned the broken glass herself using two cloth napkins instead of a mop, acting as if something like this had never happened in her restaurant. To make matters worse, we overheard her complaining loudly about us to her husband in Farsi once she went back into the kitchen. Completely unprofessional. Then came the real audacity: she charged us AGAIN for the replacement drink for our child. As if that wasn’t enough, one order of chicken kabob was partially RAW inside. We showed it to her. She offered a brief apology but no refund, no comp, no attempt to make it right. At checkout, we were hit with an automatic 20% tip, plus a 3–4% credit card fee. The tip was calculated on the post-tax total, which is incorrect—tips should be calculated on the pre-tax amount. When I pointed this out, she acted confused until her husband stepped in and corrected her, clearly knowing the law and being far more level-headed. This raises a serious question: why is an automatic 20% tip being charged when the waitress is also the owner—and the service was this poor? Between the safety issue with a toddler, raw food, rude behavior, complaining about customers, and forced tipping, we will not be returning. There are far too many better options in Del Mar to tolerate this kind of treatment.

Other than the grilled shrimp, everything else was a disaster. Salad had a few hairs in it and the rest of kebabs were horrible. Overall hygiene was bad. Surprised how they have lasted with such beautiful location. Will never go back and don’t recommend it to anyone. We were three and paid over $200 which was a rip off.
