Food is good, and they are not stingy at all, Important part! Very ease and quick service, I ordered Bimbim naengmyeon, the rest are complimentary. Still got dessert drink! Went there at 3:30 pm because i thought who gonna eat at that hour right!? Well, I was wrong, full house.
This authentic Korean BBQ spot in Central Richmond is within walking distance from the beautiful Golden Gate Park. If you’re planning a weekend lunch, they open at 11am. Arriving early is key—We were the first group, arriving at 10:55, but by 11:30, a long wait will be expected. The meal began with an impressive variety of complimentary banchan (Korean side dishes), a delightful start. The pork belly, beef short ribs, and assorted seafood were juicy and generously portioned. The kimchi jjigae was rich and full of flavor, while the steamed eggs served in a hotpot were fresh, tender, and satisfying. The seafood and scallion pancake was different from what we usually had—The slices were thick, more bread-like and less crispy. It was okay for us. Overall, the food was pretty good, and we would certainly consider visiting again, with an empty stomach for sure and friends to share!
In the shadows of this city, there's a place that stands out—a beacon of light in the culinary world. Han Il Kwan. I've searched far and wide for something this good, and it didn't disappoint. The moment you step inside, you sense something different. The atmosphere is calm, yet charged with an energy that tells you you're about to experience something special. The staff—vigilant, attentive—ensure every detail is perfect, just like Alfred would. But the true hero here is the food. The BBQ... it's something else. The meats are tender, marinated to perfection, and grilled right in front of you. Every bite is a calculated strike of flavor, precise and powerful. And the banchan, those side dishes, they’re not just fillers—they're an essential part of the experience, each one adding a new layer to the mission. Then there's the bibimbap. A dish that, much like San Francisco, is a mix of different elements, each one contributing to the whole. It's crafted with care, balanced just right, and it packs a punch that leaves you wanting more. Han Il Kwan isn't just a restaurant. It's a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Whether you're a seasoned veteran of Korean cuisine or it's your first time, this place will leave you satisfied. I'll be back—because in this city, finding something this good is rare.
To me this is hands down the best kbbq + Korean restaurant in SF. I’ve tried wooden charcoal, brothers, muguboka, yakiniQ, I’ve tried them all nothing comes close to Han Il Kwan. The banchans are so fresh and taste so good. The Galbi is not too sweet not too fatty but fatty enough. Their cold noodle with beef is spectacular. Just everything about Han Il Kwan is so consistent and so enjoyable. It’s my repeat spot - the only reason I’d go somewhere else is because it’s closed Tuesday / Wednesday.
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Han Il Kwan. It's very busy, and will come with a wait, but it's absolutely worth it. It's best with a big group, as you can get a lot of variety that way. The meats were all absolutely excellent, and the banchan was delicious. We also got the japchae which I loved. The service is also excellent despite them being very busy! Hugely recommended, would for sure come back!
I have visited here many times, usually when I am in the area where I am craving for some good Korean food. Most of the times when I arrive there is a wait with multiple parties ahead of me, but I do not mind since I am a very patient person. The food and service is good here, so I understand why it is always busy and packed here. You can choose to have either their Korean barbecue dishes or their traditional authentic Korean items. Their menu consists of shareable items, soups, stir fry dishes, and much more delicious items. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never encountered any issues during any of my visits. If you are not in the mood in waiting then I recommend you making a reservation if available. I highly recommend this place to all Korean food enthusiasts, to all Korean barbecue lovers, or if you just want to try something new. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.
Gave us free tofu soup (which was really good) and the side dishes were great. Everything came out really high quality and really quickly. Service was also amazing. Would come again. 10/10.

It was incredibly good and the service was fantastic! It's the best traditional korean food I've had in SF so far.
Great portion size! Everything tastes like homemade food. Lots of street parking. don't expect amazing service but great portions sizes and lots of branchans.

Service was quick. Food was delicious. Can't go wrong with anything that you order. We especially liked the spicy pork. The side dishes were very tasty. I will be back.

Good traditional Korean food with tons of different banchan, side dishes. I got the galbitang and thought it was one of the better galbitangs that I’ve had at a restaurant. This place was highly rated and I even had to wait almost 45 minutes to get in so definitely a popular spot! Food The galbitang here was really good. Usually restaurants will skimp on how much galbi, or meat, that they give you but this place was different. Tons of meat to my surprise and it was nice and tender. Soup was a little bit salty though for me. I also got the seafood pancake because that is one of my favorite staples to get at any Korean restaurant. It was disappointing, especially for the amount that it costs. The pancake was lots of batter and not much vegetables or seafood. It wasn’t crispy either. But it was not that oily, which is good. The banchan was really good and there was tons of variety. They also give you a steamed egg as service, and it was good. Atmosphere Pretty busy for a Saturday night and I had to wait almost 45 minutes to get seated. Definitely oriented for groups since they don’t have seating for 1-2 people. I dined alone and sat at a 4 person table (I dined as fast as I could). Noise level was pretty high with all these people and grilling kbbq going on. Casual atmosphere and dress would be fine here. Pricing Very expensive Korean food compared to what I’m used to in Seattle. The seafood pancake was $22 and didn’t have much seafood either. The kbbq set also pretty pricey in my opinion, but I did not get it. Price could be normal for San Francisco though and food quality was there. Service Service was okay. Only times they came by my table was to take my order, bring food, and take my money. I had to flag down someone to ask for refills on banchan but they would take the dish and then never came back with it. They were very busy though so I don’t fault them too much for it. Other No parking/very little parking in a pretty residential area. Be prepared to wait if you have a large party. The food was good overall and so I give it 4 stars.
The food was great—especially the Korean BBQ, which I really enjoyed. The service was good overall, but I wish we had a bit more attention from the waiter. At one point I wanted to order more food, but the waiter wasn’t around. I’d recommend ordering everything you want right away. Still, the food itself was very good and worth it.
We were in the mood for Korean BBQ so we stopped by here. We caught them in the busiest time and had to wait a bit. The meat for the grill is definitely overpriced considering the few options you get and the portion size they give you. All the kimchis are really good and I can say we had a good time.
Respectable Korean bbq, good cuts of meat, nice sides, friendly staff, and nice that it's a little bit off of the beaten path and so usually it's not as crowded as other places. The spicy Ribeye is excellent. This is not an all-you-can-eat establishment so be warned. But overall really good food. Note: I've never had Korean TERRA beer before, but man, it went perfect with the meal!
Pretty good kbbq and entree options. A little overpriced for the portions you get, especially the meat. At least they come with banchan, rice, and soup or steamed egg. Pork belly was a little tough for my taste. Sometimes hard to get the waitress’ attention even when it was not busy. We went on a weekday around 5:30pm and it wasn’t busy at all throughout the evening.
Great place for Korean barbecue. We went there for dinner on a weekday and the wait time was really long (waited like an hour to get our table). We ordered the marinated beef short ribs, pork belly, and sauteed rice cake in spicy sauce. And they gave out tofu soup for free that day. The rice cake was really good with the sauce. It was worth trying once in a while.
Spacious indoor space with grill/non-grill, booth or regular tables. Staff are helpful and attentive. Colorful, tasty sides with different flavors provide a good experience for everyone in the group. Yummy fluffy egg on the house. Yummy rice drink. Many food options. Cons: hard to find parking, tables were very close to each other.
My favorite Korean restaurant in SF! It’s usually popular. Luckily, it wasn’t busy during dinner on a Monday so we were able to get seated right away. The food was so authentic. The tofu soup was good. The galbijjim was awesome!!! And the pancake was delicious as well. Service was good and fast. Plus they served a whole steamed egg with every table. Cons: Parking was so tough near the restaurant. Expect a wait. If you’re willing to wait and find parking, highly recommended 🙌🏻

Second time here, service and atmosphere were ok. What you would expect at your average Asian restaurant. The food was great but the alcohol we ordered was expired for 4 months. We didn’t notice until half a bottle in and ended up with an upset stomach the next day. Sad because I like the bbq a lot, just don’t get the alcohol maybe
Went on a trip to San Francisco for 4 day and crave some Korean food and went here to go dine. The food was ok. Kimchi pork tofu stew but no pork in there, the meat was so little. As we eating here the waiter keep looking at us as if they are rushing us. The price are very pricey for portion u get. did not enjoy the food. But they did give us complementary drink. After we paid, and some of my friend are still eating, the waiter came and told us to leave. And I had to tell the waiter “ can u give us 5 more min” and she nod and left. Very rude and will Not recommend this place to anyone. The worst experience.
