Hazel's Kitchen is a popular spot for sandwiches and breakfast burritos, known for friendly service and quick bites. The Ryan Special and chicken caesar wrap are highly recommended. Some customers feel the meat portions are small or the quality has declined recently.

Tip: Consider the steak sandwich, but be aware that the balsamic flavor might be strong for some. If getting the Ruben, be aware it contains lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.

Cheers to the best sandwich shop in San Francisco! Amazing food and one of the few places with customer service in the city. The workers remembered me after leaving years ago. Definitely a must every time I’m in the city! Also the views from Potrero Hill are peak! Chicken Melt or the Philly are amazing - in reality everything on the menu hits. Love the food and the workers - they express humility & gratitude something the city has lost. Thank you Hazels for keeping it 💯
This is my friend's goto place in the neighborhood. He recommended me the steak sandwich with a warning that it might be too much balsamic flavor for me. However, I thought it was very pleasant! It actually makes the sandwich tastes balanced. Salty, meaty, and also sweet, tangy. The quality of the steak is decent as well. We also got the burrito but I would say the sandwich is the best. My friend also found the optimal choice lol.
Hazel's Kitchen has some of the best sandwiches around.🥰 We have been coming here for years (late 90's), never disappointed!! Will cross a bridge when craving a good deli sandwich. I don't stray too far from a personal favorite, "build your own," sliced dark rye, turkey, regular mayo, yellow mustard, lettuce, tomato, avocado and pickle. Huge sandwich, saved the other half for later🥪💫. Prices are incredibly reasonable, staff is super friendly, always nice and fast!!! Best Portrero Hill location for walking around and hanging out. Tons of menu options, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc, etc, etc. Seating table area outside is close by and shaded. Will continue to cross a bridge or two for a great deli sandwich, bagel sandwich, wrap sandwich, all the sandwiches!🥪🥯🌯✊🏼
I came here 2 days in a row! I first had the 5a sandwich without bacon so it was it was vegetarian. I thought I would only eat half but I ended up eating the whole sandwich because it was yummy and not too heavy. I ordered the seeded roll. The second day I ordered half a chicken sandwich (grilled) which was good and a cup of soup (both are the same price of a full sandwich). Wow, the gazpacho soup was amazing! It’s a cold tomato soup with cucumber. It was a great surprise. I think the sandwich needed a bit more cheese but it was good too. The staff is super friendly, prices are fair and I liked the atmosphere. Plus they gave me my sandwich in less than 5 min! They have some tables outside to sit down.
I travel with family to the Bay Area often and this is the first place we stop every time we come into town. Great food, reasonable prices, and quick service.
Great food, just don’t get the Ruben unless you want to be disappointed. Would be good if they added more meat, dressing and sauerkraut. The way they make it is strange, they add lettuce tomato and cucumber on top of the ingredients of a Ruben.
I was right there on Texas Street, right around the corner from Hazel's Kitchen visiting my old pal Kreedãnz Kleãrwatr and he says he's got soup and sandwiches being delivered from Hazel's. I've had Hazel's in the past, and I have fond memories of food, and today's lunch was no exception...As a matter of fact both the soup and the sandwiches were Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆
One of the best breakfast burritos ever. Awesome egg-to everything else ratio. My sister had the scramble and gluten free toast. Mom had the breakfast sandwich. Ate outside on their patio with coffee from near by Farley's. No wait. Good alternative to the 1+ hour wait at Plow down the street. Superior food, great service. Fan of locals.
Tiny neighborhood cafe with excellent breakfast which was both satisfying and flavorful! I ordered the scramble with gluten free toast. They mistakenly served it with wheat bread; have celiac and wheat will make me ill. I confirmed with the staff who kindly & quickly remade my order without issue. The scramble was amazing & the filling (veggies, meat) was generous. Highly recommend this neighborhood eatery! Hazel's Kitchen is located next door to a Farley's coffee shop. The two pair nicely together & both can be enjoyed via outdoor seating provided by a public park on the street out front.

The Jordan is the best sandwich in SF. The chefs are always super friendly and brighten my day!

The Ryan Special is one of the best - and most unique - sandwich’s in san franciso potentially in all of the Bay Area. Highly recommended Hazels i go here weekly when I need a quick bite at work.
Solid sandwich place. Their chicken caesar wrap is out of this world. Jam packed, flavorful, small diced bits. Waaaaay better than Mama’s luncheonette. I came here after visiting Sohn since I was still hungry

Had the Emita Special Melt and a smoked salmon bagel here. The melt came with thinly sliced deli-style roast beef, veggies, pesto, and mustard on dark rye —straightforward and filling, though the beef was on the drier side, as you’d expect from deli cuts. The salmon bagel was fresh, with a good balance of cream cheese, tomato, and capers. Service was very quick, and it’s a practical spot if you need a decent, no-fuss lunch with outdoor seating.
Decided to come here after seeing how crazy the wait was for Plow which is just down the block and was pleasantly surprised! They have an extensive menu but my friend and I decided to split the scramble plate. It was a good enough portion for us to keep us full between the two of us! It was filled with veggies and we especially loved the salsa and how well seasoned the eggs were. Would come back to try their sandwiches or their breakfast burrito someday!
Their steak sandwich definitely one of my favorites as you can see from picture of the glistening and caramelized onions. Good mix of flavors sweet from the peppers, salty from the seasoned steak. The only thing I wish would be better is the bread. It seems very tough in the center of the bread. For reference, I got the sesame bread. They have great seating outside for smaller groups. I’d come here to try other sandwiches on the menu if they’re this tasty.
Love their sandwiches! The lunch meal is a good deal ☺️ People are kind and efficient. The chairs and tables could be improved to be more comfortable and safe even if they’re not intended for long meals.

Solid sandwich! Got the Juan special and I enjoyed the sweet and spicy combo from the jalapenos and pineapples. Would've preferred a bit more crunch from my Dutch crunch. Quick service and bustling location with sparse seating outside. Nice spot for a solid lunch!

You can make a wrap out of anything on their menu for extra cost. The Caesar salad wrap there. Small kitchen so you can see it. Alright. Minimal seating. Taste didn't live up to the presentation, but not terrible. The tuna was cold, and the chicken was rather dry. Lots of protein customization options.

The flavor is good, but the meat portion is tiny. I could barely find any in my sandwich. It felt more like a veggie sandwich. Definitely overpriced for $18. Not recommended, and I wouldn’t come back.
Little light on the pastrami for a $14 dollar sandwich in my opinion. I was really hoping the peanut butter cookie would give me a reason to go back and try it again, but it was lacking as well.

I have been a life-long visitor to Hazels, but over the last year I've either had really bad luck or the quality control has gone downhill. This past week, I received a BLT with a nearly completely brown and sludgy avocado, and browned/wilted lettuce. Incredibly disappointing. I always order the BLT with Avocado and of the last five orders, only two have been up to the Hazel's freshness/deliciousness-standard. Unfortunately, this might be it for me.

I cant believe they gave me a burnt sandwich. They put extra mayo to try and cover it up. The cheese had been toasted so long it turned to dust and the meat dried out. I was shocked they had the courage to wrap this and give it to me. I wish I ate it in restaurants so I could show them how bad it was in person. It tasted like ash. Never wasting my money here again.

When you order vegetarian be sure to confirm before they cook the meal. Was disappointed to discover a lot of pork in my vegetarian sandwich halfway through :( Thankful they issued a refund, but the cook denied it although the grill and my food were obviously meaty.
