I’m writing this review while still at the restaurant- that’s how blown away I am. This was the most incredible chicken congee I’ve ever had in my life. Not only was service quick, efficient and mindful (it’s a cold rainy day here in SF, and instead of bringing me water, the waiter brought me a cup of hot tea- just what I needed!). I came here for rice porridge and when I saw it was $18 I was a little unsure- I am a chef and know how much wholesale ingredients cost, but SF is expensive to live/operate a business in & I like to support small family businesses, so I ordered. Well- this was absolutely worth every penny! The porridge is the perfect texture; flavorful, topped with fresh fragrant herbs and big meaty pieces of chicken within. It’s a huge portion, so it is more than worth the price. I ordered fried donut sticks to dip into the congee and oh my gosh…I have perhaps passed on and gone to heaven. This is PHENOMENAL. And nothing needed to be seasoned! It came out perfect, no need to add salt or white pepper or anything. The chef and kitchen team are true masters at their craft. If you are ever in the SF area and craving a good bowl of rice porridge, this is THE place to go. This is the kind of place that should have a line around the block. Absolutely divine.
Massive portions (coming from a big guy too). Fast speed of food coming out. Otherwise really feels like a normal casual Chinese diner. Plenty spicy if you want that too.
Authentic Cantonese food at affordable price. Hidden gem. seafood congee and fried oyster cake are my best.
Heard some great things about this place so I decided to give it a try with some friends. It's quite cozy and clean inside, and the staff members were welcoming and helpful, especially the owners who enthusiastically helped us navigate through the menu. After all, Chinese Chao Zhou cuisine is pretty rare in this area and new to many. We ordered their signature Chao Zhou Pan Fried Oyster Cake, Shrimp & Pork Shantou Steamed Rice Roll, Beef Ball Soup and Shantou Duck Porridge, all served quickly and looked super appetizing. The oyster cake was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and there was a generous amount of oysters which tasted fresh. The rice rolls look like semi-transparent enchiladas stuffed with shrimp, pork, eggs and wow were they good. I particularly liked the rice sheets since they were so soft, slippery and chewy, and paired well with the savory sweet sauce. The beef balls had this fine, smooth texture, almost bouncy. Last but not least, the duck porridge was quite warming and nourishing. I think the price is fair for the quality and amount of food, as well as the great ambience and services. All in all I'm very delighted we came across this little gem. It was money well spent and I'll FOR SURE (no puns intended) be back sooner than later!
The portions are huge. As a New Yorker, I'm used to rice rolls, noodles, and congee being half the size. I wish the waiter had reminded us that the rice roll we ordered came with congee, so we could have skipped the extra congee. We had a lot of food left over, but we enjoyed the Chao Zhou cuisine, especially the oyster pancake.
Very authentic place. I like the fish ball and beef ball the most. Only the homemade meatballs can be so bouncy. My American friends like the laksa noodle, however I like the seafood porridge more.
This is the best authentic Chao Zhou style rice noodle wrap and porridge spot in town. I love the Laksa noodle soup as well. Small seating area offers great food selections. They use tiger shrimp for the rice noodle wrap. Very good quality👍
Excellent and authentic chaozhou food. Oyster omelet was well char without the grease and oyster were just cooked too. It didn't have the Taiwanese style gooey texture Chewy bouncy beef balls unmistakably handmade with tons of ❤️. It's a complete opposite texture of the Shanghainess lion head meat ball. First time having chaozhou rice roll with shrimp and pork and surprised by the giant size (1 giant roll) and the egg inside
Best Chao Zhou food I ever tried in SF Their Chao Zhou Pan Fried Oyster Cake is very good! crispy on the outside, with plump, juicy oysters The Chao Shan Beef & Beef Ball Flat Noodle Soup is a must try! The handmade beef balls are so bouncy and flavorful, and those flat noodles soaked up all the rich, savory broth. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Chaozhou and Chaoshan dishes.
I came here 3 times, and I give this place 5 stars review. This place seems to be another ordinarily Chinese place, but their quality and portion of food are bigger and better than anticipated. I had Laska vermicelli, and the bowl was big. The broth was tasty. It can become my comfort food. They also participate in senior program where seniors can have discounts. I would come here more often to try other dishes.
Pretty nice restaurant specialized in Chaozhou food, which is part of Cantonese food (I think). The Changfen (steamed rice roll) and oyster cake are so great! Had never found another restaurant that makes these in US before. They should really consider changing their name at least bragging more on the Chaozhou food! Update: the name has changed haha
I got sick mid-December, and the first thing I wanted was some nice, hot, savoury congee. This place satisfied the craving, and the portion size was huge. Definitely recommend for chilly winter days and sick days alike.
PhoSure updated their menu to include a few Chao Zhou, Teochew or Triều Châu, depending on how you pronounce it, dishes. I had the chao zhou oyster cake $15.50 and pork chop chao zhou "braised" noodles $17.50 (not to be confused with chao zhou "dry" noodles). Their version of the chao zhou braised noodles had a thick peanut sauce draped over it. It smelled wonderful. It includes a huge bowl of soup containing beef, fish balls, lettuce, onion, shrimp, sprouts and tofu. As far as I know, this is the only restaurant in San Francisco that serves this dish. The little pork chop was not bad. Next time I probably wouldn't order it with the pork chop. The noodles and soup was more than enough for one meal. The chao zhou oyster cake is more of an omelette with oysters in it. The oysters blended well with the egg taste and is very unique. I was expecting more of a flour based cake with an onion taste. Service was excellent. Great job chef at PhoSure for cooking up some authentic chao zhou dishes.
Authentic and umami tastes of Chaoshan cuisine, with an unbelievable large portion of beef noodle bowl for one person. Indeed valuable for the price. One must pay a visit if you are around the town! I also found many Cantonese spoken folks (young or prime) are dining in here.

Food is phenomenal. Recommended by a friend and it's our second time coming here from the south bay. Apparently the chef is pretty established in china. This place deserves more credit, but selfishly I like how they always have a seat and no wait. Lol
In trying to find another new spot to try I came upon this new place in the Sunset. I recall this location previously being a pho joint but now SoHoMei has taken over. I think the name made me chuckle so it was worth a try! “Ho Mei” means tastes good so according to my Chinglish (Chinese-English) the name (to me) means tastes so good! 🤪 The menu looks pretty simple but because of the offerings I was confused as to the exact style of the cuisine! Was it Cantonese, Chiu Chow, Malaysian, all three?!!!? I still don’t know! But one thing I do know, is the food was pretty tasty. We ordered the oyster pancake, beef rice roll, fried rice and chicken porridge. I liked the oyster pancake except for the post that I but I to that had a gelatinous texture that made me think the mixture may not have been well-mixed! The fried rice was a hit with us - I mean c’mon it’s got spam - so we killed off a lot of it. I wanted to point out that the fried rice is topped with dried shredded pork so it adds a little sweetness to the salty spam and Chinese sausage. We also liked the different beef rice roll texture that is not your run of the mill dim sum style but tastes really good after marinating in the sweet soy on the bottom. And finally, the chicken porridge is the other dish we had which is super tasty but the chicken meat comes bone-in so be careful eating it. One of my table mates commented that he would have preferred it being boneless. The bill (I included a pic) was $65.50. Im a little torn about paying $0.50 per to go box since the place down the block charges $0.25. The extra $1.50 charge bugged me a little since I really didn’t know how much food to order and the portion size. Be forewarned that if you don’t want to pay the $0.50 per container - bring your own! Also, if you pay cash, you get a 5% discount that covers you container fee! 😬 And finally I didn’t have the desert dry mouth later that evening that comes with MSG overload so I took that as a good sign.. 😉

Viet-Chinese home cooking with a SE Asian influence? Comfort at all levels. N1 Signature is unlike normal Pho. Heavy with bean sprout and chopped meat. Reminds me of a Thai/Singaporean noodle soup. I would ask for half the sprouts. P7 Shandong Rice Noodle Roll + pork+thousand year egg porridge. An entree sized "cherng fun", ft scrambled egg, minced meat, Napa cabbage. The porridge is AAA. Guaranteed comfort, like a blanket for your soul... A3 Among the best Imperial rolls of all. The fry, the content mix, the cuts.
The garlic noodles is very good! Also love their hot and sour Lai fun soup. Just wish they have the regular vietnamese noodles with the chicken noodles soup.
The soup is HUGE! I took it back to Boston hahaha nice food & friendly staff, definitely will visit again :)

Nice small diner place. Very reasonable price and mostly comfort food. I like the hainan chicken plate the most.
