My new favorite affordable tasting menu in sf! Food and service on par with a one Michelin star restaurant, at a much lower price tag.
Trestle was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The prix fixe menu was well composed. It’s an affordable meal in a City that often caters to high end spenders. The service was topnotch, personal with the right amount of attentiveness without being obtrusive. I enjoyed a corn soup with beautifully arranged ingredients with the broth poured over table side. I opted for a supplemental shrimp pasta with tiny slices of a red pepper. It wasn’t spicy/hot. A dash of salt on this dish would have made it perfect. For my main, I chose the center cut pork which was such a tender slice of pork! The horseradish sauce and mustard seeds made the meat upbeat and flavorful. The accompanying shaved asparagus and frisée like vegetable was delicious. For dessert, I liked the olive oil cake with fruit strawberry compote and drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. The interior is modern and light even though it’s a small restaurant with most of the light by the door. Overall, Trestle was a great choice for celebrating my birthday. A perfect meal on my special day!
My friends and I had the most incredible dinner experience at Trestle. The team was so friendly, especially Jeff and the hostess/server (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name), who were both incredibly attentive and truly made our evening memorable as we celebrated a birthday.
Simply wow! Amazing service and food, extremely affordable. Usually $45 for 3 courses, option to add a 4th. Everything was so good, I went for extra courses. One of the best risotto dishes I've ever had; maybe the best pasta I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!
Trestle remains one of the best values in San Francisco! Four course meal for $52? Unheard of! Food is really good, this last visit, sunchoke soup and truffle risotto were the standout dishes, but everything was lovely. Service is attentive and friendly. I've been here several times and will go back again and again!
We went to Trestle for our anniversary dinner and it was perfect. The food was delicious, the staff were so kind, and the whole space felt warm and cozy. We had a corner table and loved watching everyone else enjoying their meals too, it just added to the atmosphere. We’re already looking forward to coming back!
We went here for our 10th wedding anniversary. The restaurant gave us a card and chocolates on our dessert that say "Happy Anniversary" which were nice touches. You can't beat the set price prix fix menu with upscale plates! I had the sunchoke soup, cacio e pepe spaghetti, and the black cod. Excellent all around!
Had a wonderful evening at Trestle celebrating my girlfriends birthday. We really liked the intimate interior and ambiance of the place. The service was exceptional throughout the night, including some thoughtful touches to mark the occasion. We ordered one of each option for all four courses and were impressed. The Red Wine Risotto with braised beef and Roasted Sunchoke soup were definitely favorites. The Cacio e Pepe Spaghetti was solid but nothing special. We were surprisingly full going into the third and fourth courses so although they offer complimentary bread, consume it with caution. Note that there is an automatic 20% service charge.
The food was amazing and the service was incredible as well. I'm sad we don't live here because we'd be back monthly for sure. For the price we paid we were both full, and it felt very reasonable for the level of quality we received. Probably the best pork we've both had out! Definitely make a reservation if you're able to!
TLDR; amazing food and presentation, check the daily menu, reserve early, cozy and intimate, outstanding service! I really enjoyed my experience here! And not to mention that the service was truly exceptional. If you are looking for an intimate, cozy vibe with high quality food and service. Look no further! With 4-courses you might not think it’s enough but I’ll let you know that by the time I reached the end of the second course, I was getting full! Granted, I probably eat less than the normal adult, but by no means was the amount little. I won’t comment on the specific courses because the courses vary every week based on seasonality. Just know that everything was delicious, flavourful and leaves you with a satisfying feeling. The only course that left me a little disappointed and wanting more was the dessert! It really didn’t have the pizzaz that the other courses did. If I lived in the area, I would be checking the menu weekly to see if there was something different I wanted and go there for a new food experience every time. The food presentation and quality are amazing for the price you pay! Having two options for each course is also quite wonderful. If you come as a team of two, ordering both dishes for each course and sharing is a great idea! You get to taste everything and miss out on nothing. I was a last minute reservation but they managed to squeeze me in and they were flexible! I was only a table of one, so that may have made it a little easier.
For if it's dubbed on the summer tomato menu. Between the four, we sampled every dish. It was an error to order the bread -- while it was good, we felt overfull by the end of the meal. The weakest dish was the pannacotta. Two of us had it, but one was very tomatoey and the other not so. It was better with much less tomato. Not cheap, we spent $340, but we did have a drink each. Also, I'm used to prices in the Boston suburbs. We arrived (by mistake) an hour before our reservation, so we had a drink at a local bar and had to leave just as the live music started.
Trestle is truly a hidden gem in the city! We absolutely love their 4-course menu, every single dish was perfectly balanced, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. The staff is just as amazing as the food - warm, professional, and incredibly helpful. We felt so comfortable and welcomed from the moment we walked in. It’s a cozy, intimate atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. This has quickly become our favorite spot in San Francisco. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!
I like this place! We enjoyed almost every dish. The salad is a bit underwhelming, but everything else is amazing! If you are going with your date, then you can share and eat everything. I particularly like the pasta dishes. Another great thing about eating here is that you don't have to choose much and the price is set so you won't go over budget. The seatings are a bit crowded but it has a romantic and classy vibe. It is good to make a reservation beforehand. The menu also changes over time so you can try something new. I would like to try other dishes next time!
Arrived on time (using public transportation) for our reservation and were seated immediately. The staff were very attentive and kind. If you go with someone else, I highly recommend getting different dishes so that you can share. The serving sizes were perfect to appreciate each dish, yet have enough room for the next.
One of the best places to get a three course meal in SF. I always make it a point to come to trestle every time I visit. Perfect for date nights and anniversaries. The menus changes every two weeks so there is always something new and exciting to try with the option to add on pasta and some amazing wine.
A wonderful dining experience with accommodating, thoughtful and attentive staffs. The hostess did her best to seat us before our reservation time. Set 3-course menu with the option to add pasta dishes (highly recommend doing so). Asked if we had food allergies. Seasonal set menu, all dishes were creatively curated, balanced, and delicious. Efficient service. All dishes were explained when served. They have two seatings (at least 2 table turns each night) and we went around 7pm and did not feel rushed. Plenty of time to enjoy each course; and to go from cocktail to a bottle of wine. Thank you for a great evening.
Since it's a Michelin-recommended spot, I went with high expectations. The overall service was pretty nice, but the dishes were generally on the salty side. Considering the price, the value for money was quite good with four courses per person. However, there was a time limit of 90 minutes for the meal, which made the dining experience feel a bit rushed. Additionally, the indoor space was quite cramped, with tables so close together that we were practically sitting right next to the neighboring table. The atmosphere felt rather restrictive.
Overall the dining experience was pleasant and the food delicious. The service overall was top notch, except for the one server who took our order. He had an unpleasant demeanor as if he didn’t want to be there. He was curt and didn’t offer the little extras like sweetener with my tea. He seemed annoyed when I asked for my steak medium well and said they could only do either medium rare or well done. I picked well done which led the the steak to have a chewy and bitter unpleasant flavor (everything else was really great). It only takes the one server to taint the experience. The place is a bit cramped and the automatic 20% gratuity and 6% mandatory healthcare fee and regular taxes puts you at about 37% of what the meal costs. The prix fix idea is wonderful and it seems like a good deal, but not after the almost 40% in extras. They did give me a special birthday note which was a nice touch.
Went for the 10th anniversary prix fixe menu. The food was great, well executed with fresh seasonal flavors. The gnudi was so soft and crispy skin branzino a texture symphony! I felt a bit rushed through the meal as they cleared out my groups dishes before I finished mine a couple of times. Other than that, a good experience.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant but I will definitely go back. Ok here it goes: Food 4/5 The dinner started strong with delicious appetizers. We tried the squash soup and the persimmon pate toast, and they were both amazing! We also tried the creamy pasta with clams and the mushroom risotto - both were fantastic. At this point we had very high expectations for the main course but they were quickly crushed after we tasted the underwhelming fish. The dessert was ok, not amazing either. Overall, very confusing, but I would go back to taste other menus since they change the menus quite often. Presentation 5/5 All of the dishes were neatly plated making it a great culinary artistic experience. Service 5/5 Service was amazing! The waiter took good pictures of us at the end of the dinner :) Atmosphere 4.7/5 Overall cozy vibes, but nothing mind-blowing. The music sound was very low. Value 4.7/5 Trestle does prefix menu, which costs $45. The fixed price includes 3 courses. The pastas are $12 additional each. I thought the price to value was pretty good for SF and the food quality.
It is not right to take 20% “service charge” + sales tax + another 6% charge for this kind of service. Don’t recommend. Can you beat it? “A note about our service charge We support our restaurant employees receiving the same benefits as other industries: a 20% service fee and 6% healthy San Francisco mandate is added for all parties on all checks. No additional tip is required or requested. Thank you for supporting our community.”
