Our visit was amazing 👏 😍 ❤ the food was Great the service was awesome. The waitress was constantly coming bye asking if we needed anything very Good service. Definitely thumbs up 👍 👍 👍 if you're craving seafood Definitely a place you want to visit.

Great tasting Mexican food and very friendly and helpful service..great selection of alcoholic drinks....and don't forget the mariachi and resident house DJ!!! Best time to go is on the weekends!!

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!! So all older reviews dont count. We been coming to this place for years and by far the New Management has exceeded our demands. The AIR CONDITIONING WORKS. and the food was amazing. The removed the hard alcohol sales. But you can still drink beer and wine.

Delicious as always. Great ambiance, very good service, great food, and the mariachi playing in the background. What else can I ask for? I have been coming to Tacos al Carbón for more than 20 years, and it was and is a bastion of Mexican food in San Jose. I couldn't decide between Carne Asada and Seafood. So I had an Azteca Plate and had a side of a Filete de Pescado Empanizado (Breaded Fish Fillet). It was memorable! Can't say enough of how much I like this place. Absolutely recommended.

Came on a Saturday and it was decently busy. I was greeted by an amicable staff member next to a really big screen TV. The chicken enchiladas is were great and the chorizo was on point. Establishment was clean, lots of parking in the plaza parking lot.

Came here with my family and is very authentic. They have a large selection of Mexican dishes and the vibe is amazing if you come at night for live music, sports or just for a good time! We ordered the enchiladas michoacanas which were amazing, we also got a pina colada, steak plate and parrillada. I really recommend!

Went in for a large party dinner. They were quick and attentive. The quesabirria were delicious. The atmosphere was excellent, especially because it was on a Sunday.

I had my twins bday dinner here. We loved it. They have Marichis and Dj. This was 2024. This place is great for Mexican party dinner. I cant complain about food. Good portions.

The food is very well served and delicious!! The service ir really good and super friendly... I have lived in Mexico and this is very very close!! We ordered tacos with the hand made tortilla soooo delicious and super well served and at a great price! I will note that is you come on the weekend they have musicians that play music for a tip, but otherwise the music is super loud, just to keep in mind!!

After a long, exhausting day that included unexpectedly changing hotels in the middle of a conference, all we wanted was a place to sit, relax, and enjoy some good food. Mexican food is always our comfort go-to, so we were hopeful—and Tacos El Carbón delivered in many ways. We were a group of six, and despite how busy it was (there was a huge party going on), we were lucky to be seated right away. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the festive atmosphere actually helped lift our spirits after such a chaotic day. We were seated in a far corner, which may have contributed to some slower service—but given how packed the place was, it was understandable. Drinks came out promptly, which was a blessing in itself. We were so grateful to just sit, sip, and breathe for a moment. The food took a little longer to arrive, but once it did, the table was full of happy faces. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I had the al pastor, which I personally found to be on the bland side—I was expecting a bit more flavor. Still, it was satisfying enough after everything we’d been through. Overall, Tacos El Carbón was a great place to land after a hectic day. The energy was lively, the staff worked hard under pressure, and the food (for most of our group) really hit the spot. I’d give it another shot, especially on a calmer day when I could fully take in the experience.

Some of the chicken was overcooked and dry. The rice had carrots and peas. That was weird. The beans were almost like soup. The horchata was awesome.

If you want to come here, come here to party. Food isn't the best but I know the quesadilla isn't worth $16. The buckets are super over priced and the cocktails are mid. The music here is repetitive. Just banda with a splash of reggaeton and a sprinkle of cumbia/salsa. Lots of security so that's cool.

We came my son and I from San Francisco concert, and we see the Story Rd. Means food, and we sit outside the music super high and I’m aproaching to the waiters and request a table, and they send me a new waitress and take so long for but the guys to the band they offer food and service to them so quickly. Bad experience. And when we want to talk to the manager or owner Never ever be there.

First time trying this place, went here late last night. An even though it was late an almost closing. We got good customer service an was able to sit outside. A little pricey. But the food was pretty good. An im real critical when it comes to food. But I'd vist & eat here again.

It has been a loooong time since I've been here and wanted to give this place another chance. We got there, sat down, placed our drink and food order. No big deal. HOWEVER, as soon as our waitress walked into the kitchen and then to the bar to make our drinks she pulled her mask down, having a conversation with all the unmasked kitchen staff. Any other time aside from the pandemic of course it would not have been a big deal but C'mon I'm doing everything in my power to not catch covid and here I am looking at everyone in that restaurant walk about in the back with their mask down, talking and laughing. Honestly, I didn't even want to make a comment for fear of having my food spat at and no longer having an appetite just prayed that all the kitchen staff be covid negative. Asked for hella salsa and lemons and a prayer. Lol, Um, yeah, doubt I'll be coming back.

I was recommended by a friend to this place,I went to try it out with high hopes that the food would taste great but I was so disappointed. We order one of their platters cielo mar y tierra with high hopes that it would taste amazing. The shrimp had no flavor, the carne asada was ok nothing special, chicken was ok as well, the fish was good. Overall the whole plate was just ok not worth the 54 dollar's we paid for it. The margaritas were good didn't taste like straight up alcohol so that's a plus. The service was friendly and the environment was nice with live music banda and mariachi. Overall the whole place was just ok not worth eating here, but if you are trying to listen to live music while you enjoy some cocktails then this is you place.

The restaurant had about 8 customers in it and they had a table for the waiters and waitresses yet it still took them about 10 minutes to finally seat me. Once I sat down I order my food and it took about 30 minutes for it to come out. I ordered a shrimp cocktail I asked if I can have some ketchup. It's took her an additional 20 minutes to bring me some ketchup. asked for the bill and then paid it as soon as she brought it. My bill was $29.30, I gave her 2 20s and when she brought me my change she only brought me $10 I asked where my change was she then told me if I wanted it she could go get it. Lol really!?!? I told her to keep it as part of her tip and gave her an additional $2. The service here is literally horrible they do not pay tension to you or even come up to you to see if there's anything they can get you or even if you might need a refill. Not to mention that I got charged $30 for one cocktail two tacos and one soda. not to mention that I got charged $30 for one cocktail two tacos and one soda Any other Mexican restaurant in San Jose I probably would've paid about $20

Went there with my family. Place was dirty. Order a margarita and it was watered down so I ask for it to be remade the second was worse it the cup was even dirty with some red stuff. Rice and beans that came with my plate were cold and guacamole was brown. My plate came with steak it was so small the nopal was bigger. Steak was sour and tasted like fish. The rest of the food was terrible as well I don’t have enough space for everything. The waiter never came to ask if we needed anything and not because it was busy (there were only 3 other tables being served). It was just a bad experience don’t waste your time and money at this place.

Not a place to be recommended and overpriced location for some cold tacos!! Very bad service to start with, waitress took about 20 minutes to come to our table to take our drink order and 15 minutes later to take our food order. We had to ask twice for our drinks afterwards and took her about an hour just to get half the order with everything being mixed up. Her was excuse was that "cooks were busy", not the thing I wanted to hear. Restaurant was not full at all, but very bad organization with all the employees. Management will definitely hear about this and how things are running at this location. Not very happy with the attitude taken by the waitress and not even an apologize was given. We were passing through on our way to Nevada and not the best experience after a long drive ahead. I hope this close this place down.

Terrible, I will never go back or recommend this place. We wer a party of 5, we got 4 fajitas de camaron, 1 order de mariachi (camaron) and a bucket of modelos (6) and paid about $180. Out dishes had only 6 pieces of shrimp, we counted them. The fajitas was all onions and bell peppers. I was so dissapointed and embarrassed because I took my birthday person here and everyone was dissapointed and said they would never go back again. Don't waste your money,

I went in today service was ok, food was good. Only issue was that while I was eating, I noticed there was a small roach on my napkin. I immediately told the server. I wasn't comfortable eating my food anymore that I asked for the check, the server didn't offer or give me a discount. She just step on the roach and moved me tables. Don’t go eat unless you’re comfortable eating with roaches.

I asked for chips and salsa and took 20 minutes to get, And then when we asked for waters, it took about 10 minutes and when we asked for a trade to go for the extra food we had it. Took him a good 20 minutes to bring that tray out. We also asked for the bill and he said it’s cash only we’re at a restaurant. How is it cash only overall I could see the experience of this restaurant was horrible. I do not recommend anybody going to this restaurant, unless you would like rude service and overpaying,
