Great place. Definitely recommend trying it out. We got the familiar food options that we usually order at a thai restaurant and the food compared well. Drunken noodles and massaman curry were really good with good enough portion size. Loved the dessert as well. We went around 1 pm (peak hours on a Sunday) but didn’t have to wait long. Within 5 minutes, we got the table. Highly recommend!

This place is sooooooooooo good! Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint! The papaya salad was delicious and SPICY. The red and green thai curries were well flavored. The basil fried rice was tasty. The spring rolls were great! The Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee were also well made. The service was okay but the food fas exceeds the care of good service. I'd come back here without hesitation!

Had lunch on a Saturday in this popular Thai restaurant that is known for serving authentic and delicious Thai cuisine. As a start, it lives up to its popularity indeed as all the tables were quickly filled up soon after the restaurant opened up for customers at 12:00 pm. For food, we ordered items both from the main menu and also an item off the main menu. To our delight, all items delivered certainly helped to cement the reputation of the restaurant as a good location for tasting Thai cuisine. Besides being authentic in their tastes, portions are also generous for the prices that they are charged such that we are able to bring some from each dish item as a to-go item. Service provided by the servers are also good as they are attentive to the gestures of the customers. All in all, I will definitely consider this restaurant as one of the top restaurants serving Thai cuisine in San Jose.

The dining area is spacious and lively, giving it that classic busy restaurant feel. The portions are generous, and sharing family style makes it easy to try a bit of everything. I really liked the special dishes not listed on the menu, and the tablet photos help a lot when deciding what to order. It’s a great spot for groups of three to six to enjoy good food and conversation. Make sure to save some room for dessert! The staff is friendly, quick, and always ready to help.

Lunch specials!! So happy this Krung Thai has lunch specials! Start with a delicious, beautiful soup and then get your choice of entree (L19, rama for me) with an egg roll, fried wonton and dipping sauce as well as steamed rice. L19 rama (with choice of meat and heat, I go with mild chicken) is the fabulous green curry studded with eggplant, tofu, peppers, and basil.

We come here occasionally but the service and the foods are on the top notch every time. Foods always being served with a right temperature and flavorful taste. The price is not cheap but reasonable with their quality; and you can see the portion is big. Also one thing I love in here is they are taking their spicy level seriously. If you want mild, it will be mild, if you want spicy, you are gonna sweat. Other places seem like they just want to throw their spices in there. Highly recommended for family and friend to hang out and enjoy the party of flavor in here.

We came here on Saturday right before they open at noon. Parking is limited so if you arrive at 1pm, you will have a hard time finding a parking space and will have to wait for patrons to leave. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in this area and it’s really crowded. This place has been around for decades. It’s a very noisy environment. Food wise, you’ll find classic Thai dishes although I don’t remember seeing spicy catfish.

Had a lovely meal at New Krungthai and everything hit the spot! We started with the Papaya Salad – fresh, tangy, and perfectly spicy. It really woke up the taste buds. The Crab Fried Rice was flavorful and had a generous amount of real crab – not dry or oily, just right. Their Red Curry was rich, creamy, and full of comforting flavors. I could honestly drink that curry! And of course, we couldn’t skip dessert – the Mango Sticky Rice was soft, sweet, and paired so well with the warm coconut cream. Such a satisfying Thai meal – definitely going back again! 🙌🍛🥭

The food here is excellent and the service is pretty good. We had a party of 8 and as long as you have a reservation it wasn't too long of a wait. Parking is not great and gets filled especially on the weekend. We ordered the Thai fried rice, the pad Thai, red and green curry, and steak. All were really good and shareable portions.

Usually don't goto Thai restaurants but went with a friend today. Since I don't usually try their food can't say forsure but it was pretty good overall. The soup was quite different then what I have but still good. Pad Thai and pork belly were both solid as well. Prices seem normal so might be worth a try for Thai enjoyers.

It was a fairly long wait 45 min on Saturday evening, but the friendly service and lively atmosphere made it worth while. Enjoyed warm sake' and veg spring rolls for appetizer. Chowmein with veggies was excellent. However the peanut sauce and penang curry were rather oily but flavorful. Mild spicy was good with steamed rice on the side. Grand finale of mango sticky rice was just amazing presentation!

The food here is GREAT. I have been here like 50 times, really, in last 25 years since the restaurant was in Santa Clara street (then just called Krung Thai) to this current location. Everyone I brought, from co-workers, friends and family and we all love the food and the service here. I am who have been in the Bay Area close to 40 years and I whole heartedly recommend this place. There are some authentic food and some bit fusion-ish but still tasted great and has the essence of authenticity. The dishes I would recommend are 1. Yen ta fo. The best in the Bay Area 2. Hoi Tod (fried mussels in batter) 3. Any fried rice - basil fried rice is my favorite (really off the menu) 4. Any anything that they have under "Off the menu"

Food wasn’t as good as expected. Not sure but it didn’t smell right. They don’t serve any kids menu. Service was good though. Mango ice team and friend banana desert was nice.

I had the L3 lunch special, which was chicken and garlic with bamboo shoots. It was spicy and very good! However, I wish there were less bamboo shoots. My main complaint about my experience was that it was extremely loud and the acoustics aren’t great. I felt like I had to yell to allow the person across from me to hear me.

Team lunch on a weekday afternoon. There are plenty of tables and there is no queue. The dining environment is bright, clean and spacious. However, the food is just so-so. The Tom Yum soup is too sour, it is worse than expected. And we cannot finish it. The yellow curry is too sweet, and the red curry is too salty. And the pineapple fried rice and the Phad Thai are just so-so.

New Krungthai has the look of a place aiming higher than the original, and the décor definitely sets that expectation from the moment you walk in. The room feels brighter, the seating is more open, and the overall atmosphere suggests a more refined dining experience. Some dishes still shine, especially the roasted duck curry, Panang curry, and the vegetarian options that are clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared. Portions remain generous, and the plating has a clean, intentional feel that makes the food look as good as it tastes. Families can settle in easily thanks to mild dishes and available high chairs, and most dietary needs can be handled if you ask. But the experience starts to slip once the room fills up, because the layout tightens quickly and the aisles become harder to navigate. Service moves fast, sometimes too fast, and the rushed pace makes the meal feel more transactional than warm. Parking adds another layer of frustration since the small lot fills early and street parking disappears during busy hours. Even with these issues, the food itself still carries enough strength to keep the restaurant in the conversation for casual meals. It’s a place with potential, but the execution doesn’t always match the polished look it presents. The atmosphere shifts noticeably during peak hours, and that’s where the restaurant struggles to keep up with its own ambitions. The dining room becomes crowded, the noise level rises, and the calm energy from earlier in the day fades. Staff do their best, but the quick turnover and aggressive tip prompts make the service feel more hurried than attentive. Accessibility is workable thanks to a flat entrance and mostly open layout, but maneuvering becomes difficult once the tables fill. The vegetarian menu remains a highlight, offering a range of dishes that feel intentional rather than obligatory. Kids fit in fine, and the menu has enough variety to satisfy a group without much debate. Still, the overall experience feels uneven, and the gap between the restaurant’s appearance and its actual performance becomes hard to ignore. On slower nights, the charm comes through more clearly, but on busy evenings, the flaws stand out. New Krungthai is still a decent option with flavorful dishes, yet it doesn’t consistently deliver the elevated experience its setting promises.

The sauteed spinach with garlic and veggies was my favorite - very flavorful. Chicken curry was on the sweeter taste but was tasty. Thai basil fried rice was very nice. Vegetarian Panang curry was ok. Had a fishy taste imo. The highlight was fried banana with ice cream. Absolutely delicious.

Food - average Thai food. Got the Pad se eew with shrimp (slight burnt flavor which may be up some people’s alley) and chicken green curry (mild flavor) Service - one server Pauline was super nice Ambiance - casual, clean, cute Thai vibes

I’m not usually picky about noise, but this place was LOUD! On the bright side, the Tom Kha Gai soup was absolutely wonderful - zesty and comforting. The red chicken curry was delicious and full of flavor. The Thai fried rice had so much lemongrass it smelled like a citronella candle! The fried pork belly had too much of a thick coating - it overwhelmed the meat and could have used a lighter hand. Decor-wise, it’s charming with detailed accents in gold and festive bunting. Service was smiley and prompt- a big plus there. And the Thai tea? Perfect.

I visited this restaurant a day after Valentine’s Day, and the ambiance was absolutely stunning! The place was beautifully decorated with Valentine’s Day balloons and the best part - you could even take them with you. It created such a festive and romantic atmosphere—definitely a highlight of the experience. However, the food was not as expected, especially considering the high prices. I’ve tried a few other Thai restaurants, and honestly, their food has been better than what I had here. The pineapple fried rice was and the chicken fried rice was just okay, and the Penang curry was disappointing. The only saving grace was the mango sticky rice, which was delicious. The service was another issue. Some of the servers were quite rude and didn’t even bother to smile. To make matters worse, after we finished eating, one of the servers abruptly took our plates without asking if we were done or waiting for something else. It felt incredibly disrespectful and rushed. Please train your staff on basic customer interaction and etiquette. The lack of warmth and professionalism really took away from what could have been a great dining experience. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving both the food quality and service.

Food was delicious. But my god the mens bathroom was HORRIBLE!!! During dinner my friend commented that the bathrooms were bad and I should have listened. Because going in there before the food arrived spoiled my meal. At first glance you think it’s fine. And then I started to look around and also the smell. That hinge is not green, that’s years of mildew and fungus. Completely putrid. Management PLEASE deep clean the bathroom. That is really really bad. Probably deep clean the whole store after seeing that.
