The 85 degree in SL is about the same as all the other locations. The quality, taste, and pricing of their bread and cakes is consistent with other locations. Compared to other bakeries, 85’s bread tastes more on the sweet side and not your “typical” bao on the shelf.
Really nice bakery if you want a quick snack. Sometimes gets really busy around the lunch hour. Their ice peach tea is really good. Haven't tried their cakes yet but definitely will in the future. :)
Me and the kids love this lil treat place
Pastries are Perfect, Staff is very welcoming. Drinks are good. Price is fair. This place beats starbucks in every level. (The hawaiin chicken is perfection)
Incredible pastries, both sweet and savory, and cheery service. Get there first thing in the morning when they're loading them up fresh on the shelves. My favorite? The Aussie Meat Pie with Impossible Meat. It's deceptively delicious with a hint of spiciness.
I'm always happy to find an 85 c in a city I'm visiting. I know there will always be good coffee and the baked stuff is always great. The chocolate brioche is amazing. "Fresh bread!", the staff all shout in unison. Always a good place to sit and work, with plugs to charge up a laptop. I get so much work done here I should be paying rent to this company. I look forward to making this my second office again after COVID is over. Only downside is the wait time in line can sometimes be long.
Really great selection of baked goods. Everything is fresh and I'm excited to try the fresh bread. The attention to detail is excellent and really makes me want to try most everything there. The only two downsides are that it's a small area to choose your items so if you have anxiety than be prepared, and also I wish it had that bam-in-your-face bakery smell. Overall I will be a return customer.
Customer service was excellent and sweet n savory pastries! Coffee or tea, what's your choice? Busy busy busy. Free parking
Best small little cafe. Good drinks, dessert are top tier. The staff is amazing and you can get in and out fast. Check it out and the cinnamon bread is amazing.
This is a smaller shop than the other 85 degrees stores but they definitely still have a lot of goodies to choose from. The pastries always seem fresh. I got an Ube cake recently and while it was tasty, it’s $35 and they freeze them and then thaw them so it was a little dry. For that price point I won’t be purchasing another cake, stick to the pastries!
Love the food and drinks. Like the caramel machiato, it's strong on caffeine and just sweet enough. It's perfect, at least for me. The cakes are good. the chocolate mousse cake is like dark chocolate, so if you are not into that, dont get it. Just try everything it's good in its own way.
Cashier asked if we were club members as there was a drink special that lowered our price that day. Really helpful!
Loved it all their sweet and savory items. very fresh kept taking warm and fresh pastries in and out of there Kitchen would recommend this bakery to everyone. Come and taste their product.
This is a good 85° location. I don't have anything bad to say about it. They always have quite a selection to choose from and they keep it restocked. The only downside is that there's always unhoused people hanging around asking for money right outside. But that has nothing to do with the business itself. The staff are always friendly and fast.
The selections are always interesting. I've been coming here for post workout snacks, and it's even better if you get the app.
Each time I visited San Leandro I have been to this bakery to get some buns to bring to friend’s house as a gift. The buns were so soft and good. And what’s nice is that all the buns are individually wrapped in a clear bag.
I randomly bought one of their loafs of bread specifically the Milk Chocolate Thick Toast. It turned out to be one of the most delicious breads I have ever tried. The bread is so soft and infused with what seems to be melted chocolate chunks. I like to devour it soft, but you can try it out toasted as well, either way it will blow your taste buds out of proportion. Hopefully one day they can make a Wheat bread version.
Very spacious, food & drinks are all great. More importantly all items are affordable! Highly recommend
They are doing wonderfully following safety guildines . Only 3 peoeple in the store . The pastries are soft , juicy and yummy!! And the service is fast and the staff is really nice
Shanna at 85°C Bakery Café is absolutely wonderful! She is super friendly, kind, and welcoming, and her customer service truly goes above and beyond. She made the experience feel warm and enjoyable from start to finish. It’s employees like Shanna who make customers want to come back again and again. Thank you for such great service!

I went there to order so I have never been buying at the counter but what an attractive place! There is a line, tables, and so much to see. Most of the items are wrapped, I am not a fan of it but it's their business style.
No restroom access anymore. They were very rude during Covid. If you want European desserts the cakes will be less sweet than you're used to. Probably best to avoid them. The cookies are kinda stale. I don't like their salt coffee beverages. The bread and custard dishes are good.

I think it’s great that an 85 bakery opened in San Leandro. Place is pretty small and it can be a bit hard to navigate thru especially if the place is busy. Like another reviewer said, there were a lot of open and empty sections with no bread and/or buns. Not sure why. Overall our experience was good, quick and easy. Just minus the 1 star for the lack of bread and/buns out.
I have purchased so many pastries in this bakery. By far everything that I have purchased it’s been really good. The tiramisu by far is my favorite go to pastries. They have a lot of options of pastries and bake goods.
The bread here is pretty amazing. Very buttery and soft. The selection is always diverse and interesting. I'd probably pair the bread with a coffee, either from here or at your place, because some breads have fillings that are very sweet. It's rather busy right now because it just opened. The hot chocolate is extremely underwhelming. $3.75 for what's basically hot water and cocoa powder + some whip cream. Not a fan. The bread, on the other hand, 👌👌👌👌👌
Its a cute Cafe with different pastries and drinks! The prices are very reasonable👏Milk teas are limited. I've tried pastries and they are decent. The matcha one was a little dry doe 😠 I got this sea salt coffee which was mid, it was salty alright, the coffee itself was good. I also got the Vietnamese coffee which was too strong as a coffee lover 😔 (still drank it all bc it looked good and I ain't wasting money 🤑) the staff are friendly and nice and you get your order quick which is a plus. I would definitely come back to try the cakes!
We had the terimusu. Not your traditional style but just as good! Not your usual bakery Lots of pastries to choose from. Great atmosphere. Definitely a must try when in San Leandro.
Found this nice place while visiting relatives which we frequently visited. It’s an Asian bakery chain from Taiwan (so I’m told). There were a variety of interesting pastries. My favourite were these mini milk cubes which were absolutely deliciously creamy especially with some lovely hot tea. I didn’t like the milk Oolong tea. The milk was too creamy for this type of tea and overpowered the taste. We also tried the matcha, custard and milk pastry, they were mediocre apart from the milk pastry which we also liked. Pastries are very soft, light and fluffy, makes you want to gobble up more! Seating area is spacious, there’s about 4 tables so makes it easy to manoeuvre strollers and wheelchairs. Only downside is, there are no customer washrooms. Not ideal especially if customers dine in.
It's Asian themed bakery with variety of Asian fusion pastries. Variety of smoothies and shakes. Some decent indoor seating. Accessible with wide path inside. Great place to meetup, groups, kids and even couples or first date.
I will definitely order something from here again, but it is not my every day breakfast or weekly treat. Their savory bakery were quite good. The sea salt coffee was very interesting. It was not super salty, but I could taste the salt. The mocha-lover in me didn’t personally enjoy it very much. The Mango Brulee was not too sweet, and I could taste the mango. That would be my favorite from all the items I ordered.

I am not sure why this bakery is so popular. I haven't had anything that was memorable or worth recommending. Personally, As Kneaded Bakery is far superior ( the staff isn't friendly or helpful, but their baked goods are AMAZING!)
As a weekly goer, it is with a heavy heart that I must say this place is going from bad to worse. For months the menu screens didn't work, they closed off their bathroom, move hand sanitizer behind the counter, remove straws and cutleries from the self serve station. Only napkins left. [Update] A few things have been fixed, like menu and screens, the atmosphere is still quite not there where it used to be, and certainly where it could be with such a nice sunny spot. However I'm impressed that they listen to complaints and things are moving in the right direction. Hope the trend continues. 1 star --> 3 stars.
I used to like this place. but now it just went downhill.
The store was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This store seems a bit smaller than other 85C shops and seems to have a smaller cake selection. I wanted to get a mango creme brule cake, but they were out. The staff went to the back to see if they had more. They said that they could decorate it for me now, but the cake was frozen, and I wouldn't have been able to eat it for 2 hours so that it could thaw. Ordered a red velvet instead. The cake was very dense and dry. It was hard to cut because it was so dense. The cake would crumble and fall apart a bit when you are trying to pick it up with the fork. Even the creme was dry and crumbly. Probably because they are frozen cakes. It was also lacking in flavor. There was barely any cream cheese flavor in the frosting. I do not recommend cakes from here. I love their mochi egg tarts. Sweet custardy chewy filling with a flaky crust. What is there to no love? Berrytale is a blueberry cream cheese filled bun with a crispy sweet crust. Pop it in the toaster for a few minutes to make it crispy. Flavor wise, it is pretty good, but I usually get it at a different bakery, and they have a lot of filling. 85C has very little filling in it, so I was a bit disappointed. It still tastes good, though. Con: Cakes are frozen and not fresh made. Dry and unpalatable Pros: Very friendly staff. Good buns.

The quality of food has decreased. The Danish barely had any cream cheese in it. They no longer have the cinnamon twists! I asked one of the food preparers about it and she sarcastically told me they were discontinued six months ago. I wonder what else has been discontinued. The mango slushes are still very good.

I’ve been to many of these Cafes and I do really enjoy the drinks and some of the bakery items. The only complaint I have that really bothers me is that they sell food that’s supposed to be warmed up, (ham and cheese, bacon cheese bread, ect) but they refuse to warm them up in the store which is a huge deal breaker, they need to get a microwave or something. Otherwise good drinks and good coffee.
We have been coming to this place for over 2 years now. We have spent a lot of money and never had any issues bringing in our small dogs, in fact there are usually other dogs in there or come in while we are there. Today the Manager or whatever she was said we can't bring our dogs in . Mind you we had been there for about an hour. I told her mine was a service dog. She says she has to be wearing her vest. This lady is so misinformed and should read the law before spouting off to a customers that has a service dog and knows the law. A service dog isn't required by law to wear a vest. So maybe you need to educate your staff. The next person might not be so nice. I told her she needs to read up on the law. We left and after two years we will not be returning. There are laws and legal actions that can be taken against an establishment for discrimination. This is something I am considering.
I like 85C, and the coffee and pasties at this location are great. But the bathroom clearly designed for patrons had a "employees only" sign slapped on it, leaving no bathroom for customers. It's difficult to have coffee, eat pasties (many of which have a powdered decorative covering) and relax without being able to use a bathroom. Customers seem to be expected to go somewhere else to relive themselves following purchase and consumption of a diuretic and messy snack. Had I seen I couldn't use the bathroom before I ordered, I would have left.
Whats the whole point of ordering a drink online for pick up ,when they dont even make it until you get there even if its already paid for.most coffee shops have your drink ready

Today 1/29/2025 5:29 pm we ask for bathroom young man Hsrshi say no because is only for employees my mom need it to use the bathroom we spend o er$40 dlls we clean customers and we love this shop your employee very rude. I’m never will comback here it’s like they made me a favor ..
Super disappointed! Order a birthday cake, when pick up they told me that they are out off Happy birthday sign and Candle. I was like what? A bakery store can out off Candle? And the cashier said that they had it before and now is out! And there is nothing that he can do. I mean it is your responsibility to keep the candle and birthday sign ready when customers had already scheduled a pick up… I would never ever order a cake again from this store at San Leandro
Not at all tasty… the red velvet cake was super dry and flavorless! Very cute boxing but terrible baked goods no flavor. Very pretty but that’s it…
I take a pretty long drive to come to this place and I was so disappointed with the customer service. I was treated so horribly. They knew what they were doing and all I was trying to do was get some bread.
