Beer was good. Food was good - fish and brisket tacos. And service was outstanding. You can tell people love to work here. So kudos to the owners and managers. Wish I lived closer to make this a regular stop and see a show. Thanks to Brian for the tour and whiskey samples.

If there is another place on the Central Coast that brew and distill their beers and whiskeys better than The Rock, I've yet to come across it (I can hear the clicks of disdain already... and I welcome them. I'm always on the hunt for great distilleries and breweries.). Try a flight of the whiskeys or walk 30 feet to SLO Brew and do a flight of tasty beers. Chill out on the couches, at the bar, or out on the patio. Bring friends, your good vibes, and prepare for a friendly atmosphere and great food!

The food and drinks (I had the cherry Manhattan) were delicious. After our daughter's wedding rehearsal, we hung out here with the wedding party and had a great time getting to know each other. Could hear each other well.

Wow what an amazing place. Came here for happy hour on a Tuesday and ended up purchasing a bottle of their peach whiskey. (Which is not sweet BTW, just a beautiful peach essence while being very much a robust whiskey). Chris helped us and was very knowledgeable about mixers and ratios when it comes to making ourselves cocktails at home. Thanks so much Chris! And a big thanks to the rest of the staff that was also very hospitable. Will certainly come back again. Cheers!

We had a cat cub meet here and Rod and Hammer were very accommodating to all of us! Everyone really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, as well as the great beer and whiskey cocktails. Only small thing is the prices on food are quite high considering the portion sizes that are sold. Still a great place to hang out.

Food options were good a bit limited but the Whiskey was tasty. Would visit again.

Whiskey was really nice, even for the non-whiskey drinkers in our party. We took a bottle of the peach whiskey home. The food was delicious; be prepared to order at the counter and pick up at the window. The space was nice and open, with doors open to the outside space--it was a little loud for our taste but overall we had a nice experience.

The food was fantastic! Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. The restaurant side service is walk up, which, given the open air environment make sense... just adjust your expectations accordingly. I also didn't like the self bussing aspect...again practical but didn't sit right with me since the restaurant itself didn't feel "fast food"-esque. The bar side is very cozy and seems like a great date spot.

I finally got a chance to visit Rod and Hammer. Let me tell you, this place is the jewel of san luis Obispo. Everyone was so very nice. We had an awesome server. We did a whiskey flight for me and my husband, ate from the happy hour menu. They are VERY dog friendly, so it's ok to bring your pet. I ordered my dog a pup burger from the menu. They also have pup bowls for bigger dogs (beef or chicken). The place itself is beautiful. Lots of space here. They have a large variety of whiskey and cocktails to choose from. I bought a bottle of the wild berry, and since I bought 2 flights, they took that price off my bottle... Yeah! Great visit.

I love visiting San Luis Obispo and had friends recommend SLO brewing. I now have a new favorite place to go!! The setting is perfect with a large rock that hems in the restaurant giving it a very unique feel. We went with a couple other families with kids and it was perfect for them with board games, Twister, Cornhole etc and I felt like the kids could have fun without annoying other people. Their beers are great. I did a flight and liked 3/4, then ordered more and loved the variety. Most were all something I would drink often. They’re food was also fantastic, with pretty large portions. The staff was all very helpful and nice, there are plenty of TVs for games, and I loved every aspect of it (besides the line for food, but once the order is done, everything else is smooth). I highly recommend, and I’ll be back!

The employees were super friendly. Good selection of beer and food. Found out they have happy hour Monday thru Friday 3-6pm: pizza and drinks! Love how they are super dog friendly!! Got our pup the Barkuterie board which he loved!!! Can’t wait to go back!!

I needed an hour to kill after my flight arrived and looked for a place where I could grab a quick beer. It was a nice and easy 9 minute walk from the SLO airport. Their concept is fast casual which means you order your beer and food at the bar/cashier. Food runners will bring your food out to you. I tried the Berry Smash beer and for a sunny day in SLO, it’s very refreshing. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Everything from inside to the patio is all on the same level so if you’re in a wheelchair you have great access to the fun that this place provides. Will definitely be back.

They have also Churro stout and chocolate banana stout, worth to enjoy a beer flight. Did I tell you that you can join their brewery most likely distillery club? For $1500 a year you can actually buy a barrel of Bourbon, vodka or gin (depends which run they are doing) after a year been aged you can either take the barrel home or they bottle it for you (about 28 bottles) with your label. I think it's pretty cool and in the bucket list for next time.

This brewery has incredible beers and also one of the best smash burgers in all of town. And the distillery has great cocktails, a hidden gem.

This is one of my go-to places for small events or even just to stop on. Their drinks are fantastic and their food is constantly delicious. Its a great spot to hang out, enjoy a good drink with some friends or to celebrate a birthday! 10/10 would recommend.

Great burger, bun fell apart a little, making it tricky to eat. Loved the lavender lemonade. Might have been helpful if there'd been a second cashier available as the dinner hour approached especially during a busy event, but food came quickly and we enjoyed hanging out before the show in the evening. Would also love to see non alcoholic beer choices on the menu if possible. Overall a nice time 👍

This is a whiskey distillery. They have great tastings. You definitely want to buy a bottle here it reduces your overall costs. The pizzas are amazing and one will definitely be enough for two people. My only knock is the price. It’s a bit pricey.

Occasionally, if you order at the register, they'll forget to bring your beer to the table (it's happened a few times where I've had to go back up to the pourer and ask what's up). All in all a fun place though. I'm looking forward to seeing what their venues end up looking like.

The band playing was legit and really made it a nice place to hang out. Good selection of beer. The wait, was baffling. I understand there was an event there that day so the crowd side migt be bigger than a normal Sat. But honestly line to order was NOT that long... maybe at most 15 ppl in front of me. I waited 20+ min to get to order food. After ordering I waited for me food at my table for at least another 20 - 30 min or more. SLOW Brew Rock? Had the pork street taco and Cali Breeze beer. Beer was nice and refreshing perfect for a warm day. Taco was decent... I'd like the meat to be more tender. Good place to chill and enjoy if you are not in a hurry.

Excellent beer and the venue it's pretty nice just felt a bit off with the vibe I paid 2 cases of beer to go my husband & son grabbed them for me while I went to the restroom this dude that works there was on top of them thinking they were going to steal them and this other girl that works there she would pour beer to nice looking guys and when she saw a girl next she left her stand to do something else that's why a 3 star quality and service it's a Must! No matter the gender and skin color!

Pub food and beer on the edge of town. It's nice to have a spot this far out on Broad. The venue is spacious and had a heated patio area with super sized bar games.

Arrived with a bunch of people, they knew that we were coming. Service was beyond slow. Took over an hour for food that honestly wasn't top notch. The beer and live music however was nice

Atmosphere was great. However the service was not matching up. My wife and I went because we kept hearing how great this place is, and it was nice. Turns out we sat there for 10 minutes before being serviced, then we wanted another drink and we sat there for 23 minutes without anyone coming to ask if we need anything. So at this point we decided to close out and it took 10 minutes waiting in line to close out. I don't think I would go again anytime soon.

Went in asking if the kitchen would be willing to make a pizza with garlic oil instead of white cream for a white pizza, the female bartender first said she didn't know if they had oil, then said it was reserved for specific dishes, then said they didn't have it again. She was increasingly put out the more I tried to use logic and reason with her, so I left and went to Nucci's down the street. Less hassle and better food, I'm sure. No wonder nobody was in the restaurant at the rock. The guy bartender was fine, too bad he disappeared before I was ready to order.
