Best Taco Bell in the area! With chain restaurants and fast food, you hope to find reliability, especially when you’re tired and hungry or on the go. This location is unlike other Taco Bells! It’s been superior for years. Very clean and calm atmosphere. Always has friendly, hard-working service. The food is never sloppy, but always neatly packed. Hope management is proud of their team.
Fast easy pickup. There was A Line at the drive thru at around 2pm on Tuesday. Duh. So i parked and walked in for my Tuesday drops $1 App Order. The crunchwrap could have been grilled longer and definitely needed more beef. And FYI folks...don't order a cruchwrap for takeout. The cruchy corn tostada inside dissolved to mush in under 10 minutes. No longer bueno, IMO. Eat immediately And order extra meat for a tastier experience.
This location is a good vibe and a chill place. Everyone there is super cool and they always understand my orders. I'm a picky eater so that's important to me that my order is correct. If your in the area and hungry you should stop there.
If I can give this place more stars I would!! EVERY TIME I come here the interaction is 100% spot on! Even though I live closer and walking distance to the one on 3690 Steven creek blvd, I rather get in my car and drive here! Haven’t had a bad experience yet and this location always comes through! The people working the drive is always laughing and having a good time. Super quick and easy to deal with. Favorite location so far….they can close down 3690 Stevens Creek Blvd, they always seem unhappy and they look sad honestly.
Always prompt and quick. Very standard for Taco Bell, but this one is generally well kept and clean. I saw staff actively cleaning the area, something not seen at other Taco Bells I've been to.
Had a mobile order today and my experience was perfect. Ordered the toasted cheddar chalupa deluxe box. Really enjoyed the new Brisk Dragon Paradise Sparkling Iced Tea, which was a really not-too-sweet grape drink(?) Not too sure, inhaled it though, refreshing on a hot Santa Clara day. The toasted cheddar chalupa was great but the cheddar didn't really stand out to me. The 5-layer burrito and crunchy taco that came with the combo were made just right. Everything tasted great 👍 simply good customer service, friendly, and really fast with the mobile order! All the times I've visited the lobby I just noticed the environment was nice and clean. My new go-to Taco Bell (did they add the drive thru recently? I must be tripping as I just noticed and used it) Perfect location near the City Library and park. Tacos are certainly welcome at picnics there.
I did not go here I was just nearby and Google thought I visited Taco Bell. Looked OK, I didn't see anyone getting sick or anything. I don't know what to say about this Taco Bell, nice enough building and they have a drive thru so you can be lazy and just get your poor quality food without even having to go in the store.
Great 1st experience at Sumiya! Went with wife (no kid) because I was concerned it was going to be expensive. Price was not as high as others reported. Food was amazing! Asked for paper menu for grill, and it was a great choice. Chicken Gizzard and Duck were the heroes of the day. Can't wait to go again and know I can bring picky daughter too as not too expensive, easy to order variety of food including side of rice with egg and seaweed, great atmosphere with upbeat Japanese music, and waitresses that let me practice my basic Japanese.
I had the best dinner 🍽 Meat skewers were tender just the way I like it. And the Gobu fries were different but I enjoyed them 😋 My 1st time and I give it a go! Im definitely eating here again!
I love this restaurant. I usually get the chicken skin, shiitake mushrooms, and raw squid/octopus with wasabi. I honestly think this place has gotten much better over the years. The first time I had it was almost 10 years ago. Back then, I would get the donburis (rice bowls). Their raw squid/octopus back then was a lot spicier and I could only eat a bit in between bites of other dishes. This time, they added seaweed and it wasn't as spicy. I was actually able to enjoy it more and almost ordered another portion. It was perfectly balanced. I liked it before when it was punchier but now, I love it even more. Highly recommend this place even though their prices have definitely gone up over the years.
The food here is delicious and rivals skewer places that I have visited in Japan. Everything tastes fresh and flavorful, and you can tell that a lot of care was put into each dish. The dining area can be crowded as it isn't too big, but we were able to get a table on a weekend dinnertime with only a 15 minute wait. I definitely recommend the skewer bento set so you can try a bit of everything!
The food here is as close as you can get in Japan without actually going to Japan. I always get a three skewers (beef, pork, and chicken) bento. It comes with salad that you choose your own dressing and a soft boiled egg. I also always add the oyster mushroom with garlic skewers (5/5) and karaage (5/5).
The charcoal grill smells great when you first walk in the door. The servers were courteous and quickly responded, helped us settle down a table. The food was easy ordered via online menu. The food was fast and tasty. It was our first time but we love the grilled seafood. The meat were probably better with sauces as a bit plain but tender and fresh.
Tasty yakitori skewers served in a Japanese themed Izakaya environment. Lots of different meats and veggie items to choose from. Some of the favorites are chicken skin, beef, mushrooms, shishito peppers, and chicken butt. Sapporo beer on tap goes well with the meat skewers. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of parking in a free parking lot.
Updating my review: I revisited the restaurant last night (Monday) before 8:30pm. The friendly staff showed me to the table and patiently allowed me to look through the menu although it shows online they close at 9pm. I ordered skewers this time around. Had the beef skewers and grilled squid. Portions are rather small but I enjoyed the taste/flavor of both. My friend ordered the donburi rice bowl and upgraded it to a set which includes a salad and an appetizer. Everything was tasty. Will definitely visit again and recommend this place if u like charcoal grills. The servers were also very nice and offer tea refills even after closing hrs. We were there for under an hour. Will attached food pics of this visit. ______________________ 1st visit: Went there and had a set meal. It is decent and tasty but the presentation I was told used to be better vs now being more of a bento box style. I would probably not do the set in the future and go with the individual skewers.
I live down the street...so Sumiya has been on my to-eat list since moving to the area. Came by around 7:30. We ended up staying a bit past closing. Didn't realize until we looked around and all the other customers had left. But staff never rushed us to leave. Two of us ordered quite a bit of food: -yakitori don set, potato mochi $20.75 -hatsu (hearts) $7.50, good texture -kamo (duck) $10, good, a bit pricey but flavor was good -nagoya style calamari $13 good -kalbi don set, tonkatsu $22.75, really tasty, would get again Staff was friendly. Easy parking in the plaza. Excited to be back soon! _______________________________________________________________ Came back a second time a few months later...about a 4 star experience. Came by before 6PM on a Saturday evening. Quite a few parties ahead and didn't realize they do Yelp waitlist. Was quoted around 40 min or so. Communication was super weird regarding seating...already told staff that we wanted to sit inside. About 30 min later, I get a call, and they ask if I want to sit outside again, and I say no, we want to sit inside. We end up waiting for more than an hour...so just be aware during peak times. This time around, 3 of us ordered: -yakitori don set, tonkatsu $20.75 -kalbi don set, chicken karaage $22.75 -hatsu (hearts) $7.50 -gyutan $12 -kimo (liver) $7.50 Overall, flavors were good, staff friendly. Just needs to work on peak time communication and turning tables. We eat fast and ended up finishing in like 20 min, but staff took awhile to turn our tables. Overall, will be back! Suggest going during off times!
Authentic yakitori place, typical wait around 30-45mins but if you don’t mind the bar, you might get seated much faster. Favorite skewers include scallop, pork with scallions and beef with sauce. Also enjoyed the beef tongue and mushrooms. Servers very responsive and the ordering system is intuitive and simple enough even for a newbie. One of the hidden gems in South Bay area. Well worth the trip!!
A nice and clean Taco Bell. The interior looks like new, whenever we are here things are well organized (chairs, tables, sauce packets). The service is fast, special kudos to the staff who are very friendly. The fare is standard Taco Bell, it is impressive the variety they can create from the same six ingredients.
Funny window people sometimes they might grace you with a freestyle.
Placed a mobile order. You need to pay attention to the location on the mobile app as it sometimes overwrites your chosen location with the closest one by default.
I don't eat Taco Bell as much as I like it because the nearest location is the boondocks but this location is near the library. Location, location, location. And the Santa Clara library is nicer than the Sunnyvale library. I always dine in.
Taco bell is good, there is no other place like it unless we're talking authentic Mexican food. Its fast food, but delicious at the same time. We probably go here once every 3 weeks or so when we get a craving. This one was clean and the employees were great at customer service. Overall good.
The crunchy tacos, sub meat with beans was good. However, I ordered cheesy gordita crunch as well, and I requested to sub meat for beans, only after arriving home I realized they did not. I checked the bill and see that sub meat for beans wasn't there. I don't know if it's my mistake not check right away or the lady who took my order :( The place was pretty cool, there were lot of people who ordered over phone and came for pick up.
The service at Sumiya Japanese Charcoal Grill was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was packed with customers. I had high expectations after seeing so many glowing reviews, but unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. The flavors and execution just didn’t stand out compared to other yakitori spots in the area. I visited at around 8:35 PM on a weekday night, so it’s possible the kitchen was winding down for the night, which may have affected the quality. We ordered several skewers — chicken thighs (sauce and salt), tsukune (meatballs), gyutan (beef tongue), kalbi, jumbo pork sausage, and hotate (scallop) — along with an ontama rice. Most of the grilled meats turned out a bit dry, and the seasoning felt uneven. The hotate skewer was the standout — perfectly tender and nicely grilled. Unfortunately, the other items lacked the juicy, charcoal-flavor I was hoping for. The ontama rice was also disappointing. I’ve had an excellent version at Gaku before, so I was expecting something similar, but this one missed the mark — the flavor and seasoning just felt off. That said, I might give Sumiya another try earlier in the evening to see if the experience is different when the kitchen isn’t close to closing. The service and atmosphere were great, so I’m hoping it was just an off night.
Sumiya offers decent food, though it doesn’t stand out among other izakaya spots I’ve visited. The skewers, while flavorful, are relatively small in portion size. However, the service is excellent, with the staff being polite and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere is another highlight, providing a cozy and welcoming environment that enhances the overall experience. While the food is good, it may not leave a lasting impression for those seeking something extraordinary. Overall, Sumiya is a solid choice for a casual meal with great service and a comfortable atmosphere, though the food could be more memorable.
The food here is really good, definitely one of the better izakaya places in the peninsula. We went right when they opened to avoid the line, otherwise the waitlist could get up to 90 min wait. I liked that their skewers all had different tastes than just the traditional salt or sauce. My favourite included the king oyster mushroom & shiitake mushroom which were very juicy, chicken gizzard for the crunch, and beef tongue is a must get as well! -1 star because the pork belly was over cooked and it is on the pricy side. The small salad was supposed to be for 1-2 people but was honestly just a few lettuce leaves.
Popular Japanese bbq spot. You have a good selection of meats from beef, to chicken, to pork, to seafood. They also have internal like liver, heart and gizzard. For the drink, you will have a decent selection of sakes in small form 350ml or big form 720ml or 1.5L if you could drink. The food quality is great. The service needs to add a notch, I guess particularly because they are busy. Please note that if you have a larger group, make sure you order enough. It is mainly skewers, so portion is a bit small, you need a lot of skewers. For the price, you are looking at 80 per person with drinks.
We did not have a reservation and came here on a Friday evening right before they open. There was a small line of about 6 groups already forming. We were seated at the table and were told to finish by 7pm -- which was fine for us. There a lot of items on the menu, but of course you come here for the yakitori. The yakitori on the specials are pricier because that only comes with 1 skewer. We tried a few specials stuff but I think you get a better deal just ordering skewers from their regular menu. I loved the Chicken Skin, meat balls, the kalbi was a bit too saucy that's because we got the special which is the miso-grilled. You can smell the smokiness on the skewers which is quite authentic. I loved the cartilages. We also got the gobo fries -- which I had to take one star out because it was way chunkier than I expected, if they had sliced it a bit thinner it would've been soo much easier. The calamari was also super nice. I would suggest the potato mochi cheese if you enjoy mochi -- this was a good surprise. Overall it's a great place if you are craving some authentic Yakitori but it's not cheap so I don't imagine I'd come back very often. Definitely worth trying once.
The meat they use tastes like oatmeal was mixed in. Grainy, almost bland Need sauce to get flavor.
Ok food that's not worth the price. They didn't really mess anything up, the food just tasted as you would expect it to. Had a bento with skewers and I wish there was just a bit more food. Maybe one or two more skewers would have made the meal more satisfying. Service also took quite a while which was annoying. The matcha brulee was quite good though, would definitely recommend trying that out
Great taco bell No taco bell is a 5 star though. Service in the drive through was fast and accurate and exactly what you expect
This review is for using the electronic order kiosk. I bought my son lunch and he wanted to use the electronic kiosk. I told him to order me an iced coffee (since I'd already eaten lunch) and that I'd prefer to pay cash at the counter. After spending $21.00 he told me I needed to use a card, which I did. Unfortunately there was no option for a printed receipt and to get a text or email receipt I would have had to give my phone number or email which doesn't work for me. To add insult to injury the completed order DID NOT include the drinks we ordered. We had to ask them for the drinks... then ask them for straws. Jeeze.... Things have changed at Taco Bell! I never thought I'd see the day one person could spend over $20 for lunch at a fast food place.
There is a small veggie burrito on the menu and Supreme Burrito which is large in size and has meat in it . So through the drive through I asked for a Supreme Burrito without meat. The lady said it's possible to do that. When I came home I saw it was the same small veggie burrito but she had charged me the price of a Supreme Burrito.
I ordered a vegetarian burrito and took a bite of one filled with beef! They replaced it which was nice but the customer service was rude. I had meat for the first time in 6 years tonight. I understand that people make mistakes but at least apologize for them.
I went inside to order but I wanted to pay cash so I wasn't gonna order on the kiosk. but the manager didn't want to just take my order He said in a rude tone "do you need help ordering on the kiosk?" So you would be willing to come out from the back and help me order on a kiosk instead of just taking my order to pay cash? Of I order and want to pay cash I would've just stood there until someone helped me anyway The problem with fast food workers is they want more money just to do less. it's not difficult to just use the register and take cash The manager here was super rude and it makes 0 sense to have to order on a kiosk
I love Taco Bell. I've been to like 100 different Taco Bells. This is the only one that makes me question life itself with their comically and depressingly undersized and overpriced potato breakfast burritos
