I have been here many times but not for a while. The Salmon Negril jerk salmon was great. Although like many comments be aware the online menus says $21 but it is actually $28. For the portion size it should be $15. But it is flavorful from the salmon, rice, and plantains. Great flavors. Great atmosphere with chill vibe, on the patio with music. Overall 10/10, despite the price. Portion size 6/10. Cleanliness 10/10. Flavorful 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. Quality 10/10. But I still a little hungry.
I got the cha cha mild chicken. It was delicious, super soft and tender. Served with some type of sweet stew/gravy. Next time I’d probably get medium spice - the mild is not spicy even a bit
I ordered the cha cha chicken with mild sauce and was quickly corrected by the cashier that I should get the “mixed,” so I could experience the flavor, and I’m glad I listened. It wasn’t overwhelmingly spicy and was yummy. The chicken was melting off the bone and in my mouth, incredible texture. The sides balanced the jerk chicken well and was the perfect serving size. I also got one veggie enchilada to try (especially having the mango sauce on it). It was spot-on satisfying. I asked for a to-go box right when I ordered, just knowing I couldn’t finish all the food. I finished all of it and returned the to-go box, it’s that amazing. I also got the watermelon agua fresca, it was extremely refreshing and not too sweet. Highly recommend trying this Caribbean restaurant that’s only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the beach. Sweet servers, nice atmosphere, and good outside seating area, too.
I have looked all over for plantains that are as good as here and I have never found them. Not outside the Caribbean even key west the plantain is not better. I have to admit the only dish I ever get here is the jerk chicken. I know I should try some other items but it’s that good. I used to live down the street 20 years ago and it’s still just as good. The only thing that changed is the staff seems friendlier. And let’s not forget the music is great
We skipped breakfast today due to the amount of food we ate last night. We came to @chachachickensm for lunch! I had the jerk chicken enchiladas! Shredded chicken breast (or) veggies. Two enchiladas with mozzarella cheese rolled in corn tortillas in our mild, sweet mango sauce and our signature Jerk Sauce. Served with dirty rice with black beans, fried plantains, and a little salad. I got it with a mango-guava Agua fresca. Everything was so good and a perfect meal to have before walking the beach for a few hours. The food tasted amazing and tasted fresh and homemade. The Agua fresca tasted like the they just squeezed the juice out of the fruit. 😂
I had never been to Cha Cha Chicken before but my friend kept telling me about it and how I needed to come here. We finally stopped in and he was absolutely correct. This place is amazing and I'm mad at myself for waiting so long. The jerk chicken was very flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Everyone was so nice. I will definitely be back
I came to Cha Cha Chicken with my sister and my nephew, and this is one of those places I keep coming back to for a very specific reason: consistency. I’m a Taurus through and through. I don’t stray far from the beaten path, I don’t really eat new foods, and one thing I usually avoid is chicken on the bone. That said, jerk chicken is the rare exception. When it’s done right, I’ll absolutely give it a pass. And when I do eat chicken on the bone, it has to be good. No shortcuts. That’s exactly why Cha Cha works for me. The jerk chicken here is consistently amazing. Same flavor, same balance, same satisfaction every time. That kind of consistency tells me the team knows what they’re doing and that there’s a system in place that actually works. The flavor tastes authentic, too. Coming from New York, where jerk chicken is both popular and seriously mastered in certain spots, I don’t say that lightly. Cha Cha comes very close, and that’s high praise. Reliable, flavorful, and done with care. That’s what keeps me coming back.
This is the perfect place to go during a sunset walk at the beach! I ordered the Cha Cha Chicken special, and it was delicious. The right amount of spice and sauce. I couldn't wait to sit down to start eating it. I finished it as soon as I made it to my deck.
This place is incredible. Do not come to La without eating here. I highly recommend the mole and the coconut chicken. The juices are delicious. Ricardo and his family are top notch and will take care of you. Make sure to say hello to them and let them know that you were highly recommended to eat here.
First time. This is an excellent Jamaica casual cafe. Dishes include jerk dishes chicken, shrimp and salmon and a wide menu. Parking consists of meter street parking and free establishment parking. Nice helpful staff that take your order at a window gives out number that results in food service at the table . I ordered jerk chicken and the chicken melted on the fork, the Jamaica rice was delicious and the grilled banana finished a perfect dish. Restaurant gets my recommendation because the place has been here for a long time with excellent word of mouth .It is charming! Delicious food!
Perfect... tell a friend. After 2 weeks on the road with my wife and 3 kids, having a home cooked meal is really something special. Kids were quite, wife was happy, food is spectacular... what else could you ask for. Do yourself a favor... pick something, anything on the menu and order it. You will not be disappointed.
Big flavors and a personality to match from a small shack in Santa Monica. The atmosphere here is really cool, especially if you luck out with the weather. Even though it’s by the populated beach, it’s tucked away enough to provide seclusion from the bustling boulevards. I got the Cha Cha Chicken served hot and this chicken was perfectly cooked — I was able to take off the entire drumstick in one gulp with barely having to chew. While I do think it can be hotter, the depth of flavor was warm in a comforting way. The dish also came with Dirty Rice, which was quite a hearty bite and brimming with textual variation from the beans, and fried plantains that were delectably sweet. While that was definitely tasty, the Beef Empanadas are a must get! They are like meat filled hush-puppies, the batter was expertly fried with a great crispy exterior while preserving a moist interior. The beef itself was seasoned well and pairs perfectly with the sweet popping sauce with balanced out the intense spice mixture. All and all, Cha Cha Chicken will make for a fun, quick and satisfying addition to anyone’s day at the beach.

We loved eating in the open air dining room, feasting on delicious Caribbean food in such a unique spot. Highly recommend walking up here from the beach, for lunch, if you're at Santa Monica!
This was an easy and pleasant stop. We had a great lunch and enjoyed sitting outside in the shade. The homemade ginger beer is delicious!

In LA from TX for my birthday and my cousin chose this spot for dinner. The decor, outdoor seating, and knowing you're 1 block from the ocean made us both feel like we'd traveled to The Islands. The laid back staff is exceptionally friendly and visited the table often to ask if anything else was needed. Birds visited the table multiple times and weren't afraid if we got nearer to them. I ordered chicken croquettes as an appetizer and coconut fried chicken as my entree. My food was well-battered but warm (not hot) and bland to my palate. Both were just ok to me. The plantains were nice (although cool in temp) but the beans and rice were, again, bland. I did love my island beverage (can't remember its name but know it's a new menu item and contains mango juice). I'm hopeful that more authentic island flavor is available in LA and will look elsewhere for it next time. However, if hunger pangs strike during your Santa Monica Beach visit and you want a great atmosphere and friendly service, do go here.
I enjoyed the food flavors, especially the plantains. The beef burger was full of flavor and cooked well. My family and I also enjoyed the Cha Cha Chicken meal (go for more spicy if you are unsure), and the Jerk Chicken Enchiladas. I loved the flavor of the rice & the flavors and textures of the croquettes. If you want to try a refreshing beverage, I recommend The Ting (similar to Fresca). Ordering was ok, and table service was great.
Food is delicious. I would be a little careful about the pricing if you are on a budget. It’s not really advertised. The cha cha coconut chicken, aqua Fresca drink came out plus tip came out to about $40. Certainly not the 10-20 advertised on the platform. That said, the people were very nice. I would come again but ask how much things cost in advance.
Positive Vibrations Yaya, Short walk/drive away from the tourists and hustle of the Santa Monica pier and surrounding restaurants. Great Jerk chicken recipe, you can go mild if you are not a fan of spicy foods. They have a great selection of fresh squeezed tropical fruit drinks. Chef specials of shrimp tacos usually and a fish dish. Large selection of food. I mention the jerk as that is my personal goto. You can pickup your food and drink then walk down to the beach for a "Caribbeanistic" picnic. They sell beer and wine for dine-in only. If I am going with my family I go early before sunset pickup my food, bring an ice chest with wine, beer, booze and take it all down to the uncrowded beach to the left, to the left below while watching the chaos of the pier from afar.

It’s a very cute restaurant with a great vibe. However, the food is ok. I ordered the salmon negril, banana pudding, and the guava and mango juice and spent almost $40. The salmon dish was subpar. The plantains were the best part about the meal. Do not expect fresh salmon. The fish was dry and the rice and peas were ok. The banana pudding was not worth the money. If you are a banana pudding fan I would not recommend. On the other hand, the guava and mango juice was good. Overall, I would recommend ordering another dish from Cha Cha Chicken.
Had the jerk chicken. It tasted good but very bland for a jerk chicken. Sides were meh. \n\nLocation was cute and fun. Loved the outdoor courtyard and the staff was polite.

I used to really like this place because they offered good portions for the price but now they’ve gone cheap. Last time I ordered they barely gave me any chicken. It was mostly bones with hot sauce. Their plantains were dry and stale and their rice portions with beans were none existent. The only thing they have going for them is their atmosphere and location. Such a shame. If I could give half a star I would.
