We had a party of 8. They take reservations, that was a plus! They fit a lot of tables in the restaurant, a little crowded. We were there on a Friday night and they were packed. We had sushi as appetizers, we all had drinks. I got to try Sake for the first time and I enjoyed it very much. I had steak tacos and they were delicious, even a little spicy! My husband had a burger and he shared a bite with me, it was a tasty burger! The waiter was amazing, he kept up with our large party and even had our refills without us having to ask. He was very attentive to our party!
We had a large group of people, but were gladly accommodated. The server was precise, attentive, and polite. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The washrooms are kind of far and out of the way from the dining area, but that's no big deal. I had the burger of the month and it was excellent. My wife had the steak tacos and she enjoyed them lots. We will be back next time we're in the Chicago area!
Great experience, consistent with previous trips. Francesca C is the best
Service was quick and efficient. The vibe was super cool & cozy. Food was so fresh and good. Didn’t leave here feeling heavy and gross- and the drinks were awesome! Can’t wait to come back in the summer and sit on the patio. Happy hour cut our tab in half!!! Amazing.
Have eaten here several times over the years, and the level of service and quality of food remain as high as ever. Tonight was surprisingly easy to be seated, with an attendant welcoming us in less than a minute. Food was delivered promptly from appetizers, to entrees, to desserts. Highly enjoyable visit. And wonderful food! Pictured are the Red Dragon Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Ramen.
Nice place to relax and grab some drinks and food with friends. Jess is an awesome server that recommended some different kinds of food that was great. Will definitely come back as we all had fun!
Wasn't sure what to expect from this place, but after eating, I'm so impressed. The food are definitely way better then the price. The item that will keep me coming for more, the ramen burger. I cannot stop thinking about it. It's something from the heavens. The burger was the right amount of everything, from the right amount of chewy ramen bun, to the sweet molasses sauce, to the big patty, combing to become something epic. Other dishes that deserves mention is the pork belly bun. Honestly high praises for the dishes, although, the tots was not on par with everything else. It didn't taste as good as I expected after tasting all the other food. Service was friendly and fast. Food came out in a pretty speedy time
If you are dining by yourself, order the Samurai Fries and Tonkotsu Ramen. The fries were well seasoned with a hint of spice. The sauce was so delicious that I ended up running out and had to request more. I ordered the ramen with everything on it and was not disappointed. Flavorwise it had a peppery taste (perfect for the winter season) and the bits of poro had an extra crunch(charred) which enhanced the flavor. I will definitely a visit again to try out the other menu items
Visited Tokio Pub after trying it years ago and the food and derive is even better than I remember from when I last tried it. The Hot Stone Tuna was amazing, great balance of flavor on the soy garlic sauce, and really nice presentation, self searing the tuna was a really fun experience. The red dragon roll was our favorite and two rolls we go but enjoyed the Rangoon roll as well. And our two mocktails were amazing with the Yuzu one being our favorite. Additionally our server was amazing, one of the sweetest servers of any restaurant I’ve visited, she made the experience so pleasant with her energy.
We stopped in for a late lunch on a trip to town. It was spur of the moment for us. Oh my gosh I am glad we did. Wonderful service, excellent food, drinks, service, timing of dishes, top tier. We will be back again. The food is the highlight we ordered alot of dishes and they were all so good.
Went here for dinner with my boyfriend and we loved it!! Our server Nina was super attentive and kind. We got the creme brulee for dessert and it was so good. Definitely will be coming back!
Stop what you’re doing and RUN—not walk—to Tokio Pub. I don’t care if you just ate. I don’t care if you live across town. This place is next-level delicious, and yes, we went and ordered basically everything on the menu. Zero regrets. Let’s start with the vibes: cozy, cool, and just the right amount of Tokyo street-style meets modern pub. But the food? The food is where Tokio Pub flexes hard.
The ramen burger is legit, the bang bang calamari had just the right spice and the volcano roll had the best fried jalapeño slices to complement the well balanced flavors. The atmosphere is lively, the space is clean and the staff very proficient.
The husband might think it’s just Chinese food, but the wife knows better. If you love hoisin sauce and sushi (and maybe earning some Lettuce points) then this place is your jam. AAAND you can do a bang bang - eat here and then walk through the doorway to Shaws for some real seafood! Things to try at Tokio Pub (pics included!) - their take on crab Rangoon in a tempura deep fried sushi rules - it’s the cream cheese your mouth didn’t know it needed! - volcano roll - made with a soy paper wrap instead of the traditional nori paper. While not the traditional roll, you’ll definitely enjoy the fresh chunks of tuna which gives it a summer roll taste - pork belly buns - If you love pork belly then it’s business as usual here. Will hit the spot. - got here in time to try their $1 tacos! Not bad but not worth it. The meat is very over sauced and combined with the pickled slaw it was not the best of flavor combos. Every dish is essentially $16. We got 5 plus ice tea - $100 for two people. Will be coming back!
We stopped here on our way home from the airport and we had the best service and experience. Our son has lots of allergies (gluten, dairy, eggs and peanuts). They accommodated every request and were so careful. On top of the excellent service, the food was AMAZING. The crab Rangoon rolls were incredible and the kids ramen was a huge hit with even our picky eater. Loved this place!
Really cute place in the streets of woodfield. The hot rock was a fun concept and the meat and fish both tasted good. I would definitely come back again soon.
Small yet very cute Japanese Restaurant that shares the building with Shaw’s Crab House. The food is soo delicious!!! The absolute must try’s: SAMURAI fries ( the sauce is phenomenal) hot rocks (TUNA + FILET) FILET RAMEN is going to leave you speechless! Amazing bullion ( i don’t know how they do it!) RAMEN BURGER is so unique to the taste;that ramen bun is a game changer!!! We cannot wait to come back for more! We will be ordering the same hehe P.S thank you so much for an unforgettable experience. We look forward to spending another date there!
Fantastic lunch! Delicious food with the perfect portion size. Excellent service and very professional and passionate hospitality. Highly recommend Japanese Hot Rock steak and the red dragon roll and the Ramon noodle burger! Love this place.
The food here is really good and so are the cocktails. We had the best sever take care of us, Nadiya. She was very nice and gave great recommendations. We had the spicy edamame, chicken sandwiches, Tokio roll and the coconut cake. Everything came out in a timely manner and tasted great!
Awesome! Super Yums yums … whiskey is fun. My Date loved it! She’s super hot. 2 thumbs up from this guy!
First time at this location, bartender definitely earned the extra tip from us tonight. 10/10 food and service, will be coming back often.
Service was exceptional, Rose did a great job and made us feel very welcome. The hostess and individuals who brought out the food were also very warm and friendly. The food was also very very good! Thank you for a great experience!
Food was 10/10. Music and atmosphere was great. Service was super nice and fast! Great for a date.
Delightful experience. We got beers a Red Dragon Roll and the Braised Beef steamed Asian bun. I’ll be back for beer and bites again soon. 😌
We've been here 5+ times as of this review. Spicy Lemon Salmon Roll, get it! Sake and Old Fashion are enjoyable. The Buns are an experience. So is the Hot Rock! Small enough to feel the right amount of busy. Service isn't bad, but there's one guy in the bar that sets the standard. He keeps the table clean and is the perfect amount of present while exuding patience and knowledge. We will continue to visit.
I have never been to this establishment and it had a very chill vibe, very welcoming with nice music. Rose was our server and was very polite, attentive and helpful in choosing our menu items. She explained things very well in detail, especially since I have an allergy to eel sauce. She made sure personally that it had not any at all. Rose was great. The portions are reasonably sized and reasonably priced. I will be visiting this restaurant again.
We enjoyed everything we ate and our server was kind and attentive. The food came to us quickly. The dessert items were basic, the beignets were the only thing we wished we hadn't gotten.
Something has changed the way the chicken bun put together or maybe there was just less sauce. Either way it was alright but when I’ve been in the past it’s been amazing. Also I’ve noticed the hand rolls got smaller. Come on now. Those were great and worth the price like 4-5 months ago.
Okay, first of all our server Jess. Absolute legend. She was our server and bartender, and honestly? A 10/10 doesn’t even cut it. 1,000,000/10!!!!!!!! The place was packed with every table full, drinks flying, sushi rolling nonstop but she kept it calm, cool, and collected the entire time. What really stood out was the teamwork. Jess kept checking in on Frenchy, making sure they were good too, and both of them were constantly helping everyone, not just their own tables. And then their manager, Dan, jumped right in wherever he was needed. Whether it was running food, checking on tables, or lending a hand behind the bar, he was right there with them. You don’t see that kind of leadership often, and it honestly made the whole experience stand out even more. We went all out on the food — a mountain of sushi, some sizzling rice, and a few hot rocks (which are every bit as fun as they sound 🔥). Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The hot rocks were such a cool, interactive touch! definitely a must-try! Between the amazing food, great vibes, and the A+ teamwork from Jess, Frenchy, and Dan, this place easily became one of our new favorites. We’ll 100% be back , and you better believe we’re asking for Jess (and giving a shoutout to Frenchy and Dan too!)
Excellent and quick service. The food was delicious. Recommend the uunlimited nachos and sushi on Thursdays. Great price for the quality.
I was happy to have a date night here with my husband and I would say the experience was great but not 5 stars. Definitely make a reservation because the place is very small. The menu is also limited and casual. Not a good choice for those with a shellfish allergy. Overall the service was good and the atmosphere is trendy. Great spot near the movie theater!
Tokio Pub is a nice Japanese fusion restaurant that has great deals. The happy hour is the golden time (4-6pm) to visit as there are a wide range of food and drinks for half off. On top of that, there is a Tokio Pub Match Promotion, meaning that you will get a gift card of the amount you spent at Tokio Pub on the selected day of each month. The venue... this restaurant has a Shinjuku Golden Gai feel to it, having a retro Japanese atmosphere. The venue is densely packed with tables and chairs to meet the demand of customers streaming in constantly. We arrived at 5pm and the place was already rocking, though not full yet. By 5:30 it was pretty much filled up. However, even though the venue has a high density, it doesn't feel crammed. In saying that, if you are bringing children, be mindful that they will not have lots of room to roam or draw on the table. The food... straight from the menu you can see that this is a fusion restaurant, fusing Japanese, Latin & American food. There are many dishes which are "tapas" style, small tacos or steamed buns that comes in triplets or quintuplets (5). Hence this restaurant is Asian style friendly, a corporate culture, i.e. food is shared collectively rather than each person order individually and eat their own plate. This is the best way to eat I reckon! It enhances the familial environment and you get to eat more varieties :-) Our favorite at Tokio Pub is definitely the pork belly buns. Everything on and in the bun is perfect. Who can resist deliciously made pork belly with gooey black and wonderfully seasoned sauce, paired with pillow soft buns? The sushi here are really good too, fresh ingredients and yummy rice, with equally tasty sauce. The taco, we are a bit disappointed we can choose regular flour taco, as we are not fans of corn tacos. But the fillings are generous and tasty flavors.
Food - pretty good. Although a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. I may or may not come back again. What will bring me back is the atmosphere in the patio area.
We came in here on December 23rd with a group of about 6 of us. The restaurant was thankfully not busy assuming because of the holidays. We were immediately seated but waited a good 10 minutes before being attended to by the server. I think there was some confusion and when he realized, he apologized for it and all was forgiven! We ordered a variety of food and drinks and they were delicious! I would certainly come back for the food, but again the service was not the best service we've seen(forgetting to refill drinks, bringing out food for only 5 out of the 6) but I'm going to chalk this up to hopefully the holidays and maybe didn't have regulars working or short staffed? We'll certainly give it another try! The other oddity was the restroom for the restaurant. Since this restaurant is attached to another restaurant, you have to walk through the other restaurant and upstairs. Seems like maybe that wasn't planned properly during construction. The staff did offer to actually walk us to the restroom which was a great gesture!
Fancied a bit of Japanese / Asian Fusion food for dinner when on business in Schaumburg and so my colleague and I headed to 'TOKIO Pub'. The ambience was nice and casual and the menu had a good selection of Asian dishes with starters, rolls, and rice and Ramen. To start we shared the Red Dragon Rolls, the Crispy Chicken Pot Stickers and Crispy Meat Springs Rolls, all of which were very good. For main course we both had the Pork Belly Ramen which was also good but for me the broth was not creamy like the traditional Pork Belly Ramen that I'm used to... But it was still super tasty. All in all I can recommend TOKIO Pub and I'd certainly not have any issues eating here again.
Opted for takeout from this place and ordered the Beef Sizzling Rice, which I did enjoy overall. The shiitake mushrooms were a particular highlight. While the experience would likely have been better if I had dined in, I do plan to return and explore more dishes. Tip: If you're doing takeout, note that the entrance is the same as Shaw's Crab House.
I like this restaurant, been here once before a few years back. We had fried calamari, shrimp tacos, and Ramen. All the food was delicious. The waiter was nice but didn't really check in with us enough, the restaurant seemed that it could've been short staffed. I like the decor but the chairs were well used so we sank into it cushy seats, I say in my jacket to give me some height to I didn't spill my soup. They may need to update their seating. Overall I enjoyed my time there but nothing blew us away that we'll want to visit again soon.
Mary, our waitress was great!! Gave us great feedback on what to try. Everything was delicious! We had the ramen burger, and it is a big enough burger to share she had it split in half for us, which was easy for us! The red dragon, which was also a recommendation of hers, was delicious. The bang bang was good, a little tough but great flavor!
Went here for my birthday and the service was excellent (I wish I could remember our servers name though, but she was awesome!). We had ramen and sushi for dinner which was on point. Paired everything with some saki and nice cold Sapporo with a sweet chocolate cake as the finisher🎉. Overall I would recommend if you're in the Schaumburg area.
We only gave the review that we gave regarding service and atmosphere because we thought that Rachael was so dynamic! You could see how much she cares about ensuring the customers are satisfied and seated in a timely manner. It was very disappointing to see Management walking in slow motion while Rachel and the rest of the team were running around, trying to clear tables and get people seated. There while Rachel and the rest of the team were running around, trying to clear tables and get people seated. There is an acronym in hospitality, MBWA = Management By Walking Around. It’s so imperative to the success of your business and the respect and loyalty of your team. We will be back!!
Went during restaurant week with my friend and we tried the red dragon roll, crispy shrimp rice, Shrimp/ garlic rice, and the potstickers. Everything was 10/10, the only downside was the rice was a bit much on the oily side but overall the food was very good and server was warm and attentive. Would definitely come back and you must try the strawberry margarita.
I really enjoyed the sushi here even though it wouldn't be my first choice for sushi. I decided to dine here to try out the Ramen. It wasn't bad but it was definitely lacking flavor. The entire time I felt like it was lacking something. Great presentation not very flavorful..but service was great, attentive, and prompt.
I was not a fan of their pork belly ramen and their mix of noodle for it. Just personal taste. I also wish the pork dumplings had a bit of vegetable in the mix to give it a texture and added flavor. The Rock mignon had a good marinade that reminded me of H Marts, not exactly though. I’m was pretty hungry so it was edible to finish, but I wouldn’t get the first two dishes again.
Place looks nice, started off rough since one of the plates had hair on it. Waitress had no other customers but saw her maybe twice at our table and a bunch of other times just walking around talking to other coworkers. They probably just walked around mindlessly because business was slow. Food was okay, small portions, we were recommended the ramen but it was just alright. Pictured is one of their bao buns. Would probably never come back again.
Ordered our food. Appetizer, filet mignon grill, maki, ramen. Ordered drink as well. Our drinks came out fairly fast. Then we waited 45 mins with no food. Not even our appetizer while two other tables who came after us started getting their food. Called our server. She apologized and within 5 mins all our food all came out together. Server came to tell us that the manager took few orders off our menu and apologized but never seen the manager at all. Guess taking some cost off the menu was good enough for them. Also, ramen came out lukewarm. Noodles in it felt funny. Either uncooked or overcooked. It was awful but didn’t want to bring it up. Gave three stars because we will try to come again to give them another chance. Most of their food were good.
Food was meh. Ramen by far the most disappointing just look at the photo. Like seriously look at that and tell me that looks good. Chasu was also burnt on the edge. I've never had that before. Terrible. Also, don't lie about the prices just charge me what it costs. The meat was too sweet for my taste but edible but cool concept. Overall, I would not recommend.
Came here strictly for the ramen burger. But first, the logistics. Tokio Pub is located across Woodfield Mall, in the same building as Shaw’s Crab House. They have a separate entrance, but the restaurants are connected together inside, so either entrance would work. Ambiance: classy/casual. Inside Tokio Pub, it’s quant and small, with a few round tables for larger party of people, a few tables and benches, and three or four high tops near the bar. Decór has Asian influences on it, will some wall posters of Japanese characters and art. Service: great! There’s a host(ess) that greets you right at the Tokio Pub entrance. On this Friday night, at around 7, we got seated right away. We got seated near the door, and despite the triple-door entrance, every time someone entered the restaurant, there was a brisk Chicago January gust of wind. The server was gracious and offered to reseat us, and we ended up away from the entrance/exit and at the high-table near the bar. Food: probably the worst out of the three categories. To sum it up, instagram/Yelp worthy pictures, but way too salty and gimmicky. But I understand it’s a fusion restaurant, so you have to be creative with your menu. We went with: - Hot rock with ahi tuna — super-hot rock on a bed of sea salt, you cook your raw tuna on top. Takes about 10-20 seconds to get it to the desired medium consistency. It was fun, but the fun didn’t last too long. Seven pieces, and for the two of us, it was gone in a matter of minutes. - Bang-bang calamari — I’m a fan of bang-bang sauce, and calamari. This appetizer was decent. The calamari had a nice crunch, and the hot peppers added the perfect spice to the dish. Cilantro for garnish, and presentation-wise, it looked great. The sauce was rather salty, and the dish itself, looked like onion rings, as they only used calamari rings, and no tentacles. - Rainbow roll — when I’m at a place that offers sushi, I usually gravitate toward rainbow rolls, because it offered a combination of fish. This one had tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Overall, it was good. It came with a garnish of sweet sauce which was good. - Ramen burger — this was what we came for. It is a burger, cooked to what you want, for us, medium, with ramen as the top and bottom “bun” of the burger. The ramen was grilled/cooked, and offered barely ample structure, to keep the burger not in a complete globby mess. It came with a soy molasses sauce that was so darn salty. Thank God they gave the two of us a carafe of water, as we needed it. The burger came with almost unsalted fries, which OK. We had to finish the burger fast, as the ramen-bun was getting soggy by the minute. Definitely a gimmicky menu item, worth taking a picture of, but I would not be getting this or really recommend it to anyone. Big knock-down of stars: when we got the bill, there was a 3% restaurant fee. Upon asking the waiter, he just smirked and said he would take it off. Apparently, as of Jan 2025, they are still charging COVID-19 fees. COVID was ~5 or 6 years ago yo. Imagine the amount of money this place gets from the unsuspecting patrons via this nickel and dime-ing. Look, I am all about supporting restaurant staff and tipping, to what I believe, generously, but don’t impose us these random obsolete fees like you’re a Ticketmaster of restaurants. TLDR; food was OK. I would not go back again, but I tried it at least. Huge red-flag for subtlety charging a COVID-19 restaurant fee in Jan 2025. BATHROOM REVIEW: Let’s hope you don’t really need to pee really bad, cuz it’s a long way. There’s a connecting corridor to Shaw’s Crab House, where you go through to the bathrooms. Up a few flights of stairs, then down another hallway, you’ll find the Men’s and Women’s bathrooms. Since the bathrooms are in the Shaw’s Crab House side of the building, it shares the same 50s vibe decór. Inside you will see old posters as decoration, and several urinals and stalls. Everything was clean, including the bathroom stalls. Sit or squat? Sit!
Went with family to order sushi and it was a bit of a disappointment. Place was nearly empty when we walked in and music was too loud which wasn't a great first impression. I asked the waitress if we could move table away from the noisy bar area (before we sat down) but that seemed like too big of a problem. Sushi we ordered came out about 1 min after we ordered and it was obviously pre-made and had been stored in a fridge (rolls were freezing). Kids love sushi but didn't like the food here. Service was absolutely average. Shaw's Crab House next door would be a much better option.
I got the Monster Roll at the recommendation from my favorite store Anthropologie. It was not good at all. Sushi rice was cold and hard. Shrimp tasted refrigerated and not fresh. Also, very over priced. $15.00 for five pieces.
Oh boy where to start. Good atmosphere, clean, and presentation was all fine. The big issue was just the food choices. I was hoping for a more modern Japanese food, but this is a hipster place true and through. Just wacky food "fusions" with a japanese theme. Overpriced for mediocre food or strange fusions to be trendy. 1. Paid 15 bucks for a sushi roll that was just cucumber with a dash of tuna on top. This was the biggest offender 2. One of the saltiest ramen ever. Even used the wrong noodles. 3. Signature Burger was edible. 4. Ordered sake and gave a small teacup for 6 bucks. WHAT?! 5. Buffalo chicken inside a steamed bun...why? 6. Not a single asian person here (should have been my warning when walking in) 7. On a lesser note had no acknowledgement for anniversary despite having reservation. So yeah, if you know nothing of asian food etc. Ignore this review as the food is edible. For my culture people, avoid... Update: had abdominal discomfort and pain with the runs all night. Something was not fresh.
