A crisp sparkling wine with the prosciutto and melon on Cantinetta's patio under the drapes linen is pure delight. Immediately follow with several rounds of pasta so delicious you black out (admittedly I ate the food here so quickly I neglected to take photos until dessert). The staff here is radical and kind and super knowledgeable, and not afraid to direct your experience to what is going to work for your evening.

Cantinetta should be on everyone’s list. We love the Wallingford location specifically. It’s the OG. It’s cozy. They make great cocktails. Long wine list. But most importantly, the food is incredible no matter what you order. The tagliatelle is the perfect go to. Steak was perfect. We’ve tried all the pasta at this point and I can’t say enough good things about it. Fresh bread, interesting apps. GET THE TIRAMISU. We’ve been multiple times, there was another couple next to us on a first date. It’s such a unique atmosphere.

Great vibe. Really loved the food and the portion size. Good recommendation for dinner dates.

Good Italian food, incredible vibe. It's built into what used to be a residential house so it's very homey and welcoming. The little touches of decor and excellent lighting make this a perfect spot for a date or reunion with good friends. Now, onto the food. I was a little bit disappointed by the focaccia. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch, but the texture was just not what you'd expect from a focaccia—lacking any real chew or crunch, this was more like a cornbread or a pound cake. It still tasted good, but I wouldn't order it again. The burrata is nice, though it mostly feels like a collection of ingredients on a plate rather than a thoughtfully prepared dish. The chef could do a little more to elevate it and bring it all together. Both of my mains were excellent. The pappardelle alla bolognese has perfect house-made pasta and rich, meaty sauce. That one is not to be missed. The filetto di manzo (beef filet) was cooked perfectly rare, as I requested. The hearty polenta has an incredible texture and the mushroom shavings give a huge umami boost, all making for a simply great bite. I also tried a selection of desserts, some dining in and some to go. The zeppole was easily the highlight and should not be missed. It's enough to split for 2 (though you may want a whole one to yourself after the first bite). The other desserts were decent, but nowhere near as good as the zeppole. Overall, there are a few small aspects that could use improvement, but I really enjoyed sitting in that lovely space, visiting with the friendly staff, and having a few amazing dishes.

We've gone here twice, and both times the service and food was delicious. Delicious Al dente pasta, great wine selection, amazing focaccia. This place has our favorite tiramisu as well! Ambiance is also lovely, it's my favorite date night spot. I'm a big fan of cozy, neighborhood restaurant vibes.

Wonderful dinner, great wine and food! I loved the clams and fish the most, I’m not entirely sure I would order the same pasta dishes again. I would probably try their other pasta!

Perfect date night spot. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality of food, the portions, and the overall atmosphere. As you know, we order a lot on the menu when we attend restaurants to review. We enjoyed everything on the menu including the cocktails.

Overall it was a five star experience. The burrata and the whipped potatoes were delicious. The service and atmosphere were excellent. Four stars on the food because the pasta was a bit dry and too salty.

We went for Seattle Restaurant Week. It was very good and the server was really nice. We tried all the appetizers, which were all made gluten free. The clams were great. There was one main dish that was gluten free, the risotto and that was light and tasty. The gluten free dessert was an affogato and it was incredible. We also celebrated a birthday and they brought a tiramisu, which was nice. I learned that this location does not offer gluten free pasta, which is a shame. The location in Bellevue does though!

Fresh pastas and really good drinks. Service felt personalized even though we didn’t have any particular requests. All the food options were really good. The neighborhood location is just an additional bonus. Even though the restaurant was relatively full, the service was fast and reasonable.

Fantastic service, very tasty food presented beautifully. This street corner restaurant has a vibe decore that reminds me of similar establishments in Europe, though the acoustic could be slightly better as it was very loud inside.

Cantinetta came recommended by a friend...wow, such amazing pasta! Made a reservation, but wasn't needed since it was relatively empty. Drinks + apps: -italian greyhound cocktail: wasn't very good, a bit difficult to finish -wine ~$14/glass -burrata $16: I personally didn't eat it since I'm lactose, but was told it was very good -bread $3.50: ok Pasta: -pici amatriciana $24: tried the noodles, were so good! -pappardelle alla bolognese $22: my own dish. Noodles were wide and thin. Perfectly al dente! This might be a must-stop for me everytime I'm in Seattle! Service was ok. Nice, intimate setting inside. Street parking only.

Wow. Blown away by this incredible neighborhood trattoria. Everything - food, service, cocktails, tiramisu - was to die for. Hugely popular, so expect to wait for a table even with a reservation, but SO worth it. We'll be back!

This restaurant is rock solid. From apertivo to digestif, the food and drink delivered care, quality, and deliciousness. Staff is great... attentive, fun, and professional. This restaurant does quite well what I wish more establishments did...attend to pacing. We chilled eating apps and drinking for a while. When it was a good time, we had the pasta and main course brought out. A while later, digestion time allowed, dessert came out smoothly. The crew here knows how to set you up so you can eat and drink your way through different courses to savor the food, the ambiance, and ultimately, the seemingly simple (but truly profound) act of sharing a good meal, out, at a restaurant. I'd come here if you like: Good drinks Good food Good service Charming atmosphere What's not to like?

I had a very nice and enjoyable dining experience here. I sat inside where the atmosphere is on the romantic side for diners as the lights are dimmed. They have outdoor seating too with fires to keep you warm. The fried artichoke was nice and crispy. The mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes were simple but delicious. Can’t get enough of it. The buffala mozzarella was super creamy. The melanzane (eggplant) has a nice smoky taste and paired really nicely with the tomato sauce and riccota. The braised rapini with Parmesan was delicious, a little bit on the crispier side. We tried the chanterelles risotto, the maltagliati with pacific prawns, and pici cacio pepe and they were all very good. I wish that the maltagliati has more than just 3 prawns. The pasta is all made fresh and you can tell. The dessert Zeppole was amazing. It came nice and warm out of the kitchen. It can be easily shared as there are 4 pieces. You have to choose between pistachio or Nutella taste. Tough choice. We picked pistachio but I thought that the taste was not that strong. All in all, definitely a 5 star diner.

The staff, space, and service is awesome. Super attentive and nice. It is probably a 4.5 due to overall flavors and cost. The plates were well thought out, and the homemade pasta is great. The flavors though are 7/10 which is why i would downgrade the half star. For the cost, after coming back from Italy recently, should be just a little better. For local Italian in Wallingford or Fremont. They are hands down the best though! Recommend for a nice night out.

Great experience. Flew in from Tennessee to meet with my local team. The wait staff was polite and timely. The food was great! We truly enjoyed the artichokes and the salmon. Would highly recommend to a small group looking for fresh food and great atmosphere.

started with the pork belly & peaches and the focaccia, all delicious. Each of us grabbed a pasta - rigatoni & the cappelletti. The cappelletti was a handful of stuffed pasta in a broth & the rigatoni accompanied 4 meatballs. Both different sizes but both delicious in their own way. We ended the night with the cherry bomba with espresso. Highly recommend.

Wonderful find in Freemont! We were delighted to find Cantinetta on a recent trip to visit our daughter in Seattle. The decor is very warm and inviting and the staff is very attentive. The bolognese and rigatoni with meatballs were fantastic. Don’t forget to ask for the pillowy focaccia to start your meal off on the right foot. They do not have air conditioning so dress accordingly.

Amazing experience at this cute, neighborhood restaurant. Every dish our group had was amazing and trust me, we tried almost everything. The pork belly and risotto were incredible. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were so fresh and juicy. The best part was the top notch service provided. Anastasia was knowledgeable, friendly and checked in on the table the perfect amount. Everyone else was great and we loved the team service aspect. Will definitely dine here again!

Fantastic. Lovely ambiance, excellent food and drink, good service. We were able to have dinner without a reservation, but I would make one in advance next time.

Such a cute spot with friendly service, good vibes, and a sweet small neighborhood spot. Our hopes were high and while we loved the atmosphere and our time there, we left slightly hungry and a little underwhelmed by the house made focaccia, house made pasta, and diver scallops (3 for $36 😳). Was really pulling for this restaurant! Maybe we'll give it another try and order more.

A Seattle Restaurant Week 3-course dinner. We got baby kale salad, panzanella, pappardelle alla bolognese, spaghetti amatriciana, zeppole and torta della nonna as desserts. The pastas are awesome. Everything is beyond the level of the peer Italian places at the similar prices. Service is great. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the noise. It’s a tiny place, all tables are side by side, so it’s packed with people. I could hardly hear what my boyfriend was talking about across a small table. But other than that, everything else made this a very enjoyable dinner.

Overall this place is decent. I came here for Seattle Restaurant Week 2021. The favorite thing I had was the Coconut Panna Cotta, love it. Everything else was decent. I did not like the pici.

J

This cute and cozy restaurant had great pasta! Their gnudi (like gnocchi but made with ricotta) was incredible with oxtail sauce. The pappardelle was also delicious. The things we did not enjoy were the focaccia (served cold) and the mozzarella fritti appetizer. Overall I would come back for the ambience and the pasta!!

We had fantastic service, two glasses of wine, shared a salad, Focaccia bread, and two entrees, Pappardelle, Tagliatelle for $88. Not inexpensive, but a delightful, charming place!

Mixed drinks were flavorful and strong. We had the risotto and gnocchi. Both delicious and good-size portions. Prices were fair. The fresh focaccia for an appetizer was amazing.

Nice local neighborhood Italian restaurant. The portions are single serving, not meant for family style Italian eating. We enjoyed our dishes, some could have used a little more seasoning. My favorite dish was the rigatoni, it was sooooo good. My second pick was the tagliatelle, the past tasted fresh and the yolk made for a deliciously creamy sauce. The dessert were great as well as the cappuccino and espresso. My favorite was the fruit tart, great blend of sweet fresh and flavorful. The restaurant gets noisy, even so, the server didn't miss beat in hearing our order. The decor is very welcoming and cozy. We came on a Sunday night and they were packed. I would recommend reservations.

Cute spot for handmade pasta and craft cocktails. This is the perfect spot for a date night or a dinner with a small group. I highly effective commend the clams and the focaccia bread as starters. For the main course the bolognese and rissoto are fantastic options. They have a great list of house made cocktails that are strong and tasty. The service is great and the people are social. Be aware that the dining area does get really warm when it is hot that day.

Atmos - old world homey. Nice :) lots of wood which I like. House Focaccia - doesn't come warm sadly. It's a little dense and dry for a focaccia in my experience. But it gets the job done. You do need the oil with it tho because it's so dry. I wish we had butter tho. Burrata w/heirloom tomato - Good! Fresh and sweet. I'd order this again. FYI, Does not come with any carbs. Rigatoni with snap peas and black pepper - very fresh tasting. Noodles were spot on. Pappardelle Bolognese - the sauce is fantastic. Perfectly balanced, perfect ratio. The noodles weren't cooked all the way but the freshness was still appreciated. Torta di Bosco - good but not mind blowing Tartufo Affogato - very tasty, would eat again

Great little gem in the Wallingford neighborhood. Pici Amatriciana was a little bit soupy/watery but overall it tasted great especially the homemade pasta. The environment could be noisy during peak hours.

This place used to be in my top Seattle neighborhood restaurants, but on our recent visit it didn’t live up to its previous stellar performances. Service was good, not great (same with the food that previously wow’ed me). Would come again, but Cantinette has fallen a bit over the years it seems.

Surprisingly, good but not excellent. The focaccia was meh. Caprese, meh. Figuring I had to have the fresh pasta and did the gnocchi. It was average (certainly not for the price). It was bland, extremely lightly sauced. A single dash of parm would have made a difference. The portion size was good but you can only eat so much gnocchi. My spouse had another dish (can't remember which right now) but got 4 pieces of pasta. Very nicely cooked and decent flavor. But. When the bill came it was impossible to not feel fleeced. I'm doing 4 stars because the service was great but food wise you can do allot better for the price in my opinion.

Nice vide and ambiance x this neighborhood restaurant. not an extensive menu but this is a plus x me. The appetizers were all good ( we had 4 different types) and mostly vegetarian, the bad note comes with the pasta dishes.... I'm Italian so i know my pasta :) the dishes were well though out but the very undercooked pasta, the overcooked risotto plus , and this is important, the sauce not blended at all with the pasta made my dinner not a very good one. Need to change something in the kitchen before I go back! Dessert we waited 20 minutes x one order that was definitely not worth the $10 they ask for. In general the restaurant is pricey !! Service was ok but not great.

Food was incredible. Everything we ordered was delicious. Service was okay. The male server with curly hair was a delight. The others seemed standoffish even when I tried to be friendly. Maybe that's the vibe they want? But the reason for a low rating is the disgusting tables. The tables they put our bare silverware on. I spilled a little sauce and wiped it with my napkin - it left black streaks on my napkin. I even tried wiping another table after the servers cleaned it - same black dirt left on my napkin. They need to do a more thorough cleaning before they open each night. If you look around the place, it is like there is soot streaks everywhere, including the air vents, as well as cobwebs. Doesn't help that the first table they sat us at smelled like sewage... Food was so good, I would still consider eating here (but I'm assuming the kitchen is clean). I'm just hoping this review gets management's attention because it seems like an easy problem to fix.

We were really looking forward to this experience, but unfortunately, aside from the Pappardelle Alla Bolognese (which was fantastic), our experience was underwhelming. The portion size for that dish was fantastic, but as you can see in the picture, for the same price and nothing notated, the ravioli was comically small and swimming in a plate of oil. Service was very attentive, though we felt rushed through and were seated so close to the expo line that we felt very in the way.

J

Pros: atmosphere, service, real candle lighting Cons: uncomfortable seats, tiny portions, high prices, inconsistency on the taste of dishes The burrata appetiser had great cheese & pear. The bread was too dry/over done and too small. The Aranchini appetiser is pretty flavorless. The Tagliatelle main course was probably the best dish we had there. Tons of pepper and butter in perfectly cooked home made pasta. (A bit small too) The butternut squash ravioli was okay but lacking in any pronounced flavor. (10 tiny raviolis) The Tarta de bosco we good. Came with a tiny spoon full of ice cream, had a boring crust, good cream cheese layer and a good fruit layer on top. (Small) The tiramisu was pretty authentic and good. The alcohol soaked lady fingers, coco dusting, coffee and cream were all present and we'll layered no complaints on this dish, on point. Also a surprisingly large portion.

We got free street parking in front. We had the roasted pork belly and Agnotoli with white vine. It took 30 mins for the food to come out. The pork belly was yum but the Pasta was bland. The service was excellent. Also FYI, bread isnt free.

Come for the food, hopefully your server isn’t such a witch. The runner was super nice. The waitress was a Class A Witch! We asked if they had hot chocolate bc our tween was cold with the door open and the sun having set. Her reply, “We don’t have any chocolate,” then walked away. Our kiddo noted several of the desserts contain cocoa powder or chocolate, so we mentioned this when she returned, “There are quite a few desserts with chocolate.” Her reply, “We DON’T serve hot chocolate” in as curt/rude/“how dare you” tone as you can imagine. She then walked away again to go across the street to the sister bar with some guy arm in arm before coming back to give us the wrong check. (Yes, there were other children in the restaurant, so it’s not an adult only restaurant.)

Shame there isn't any air-conditioning in this restaurant. Too hot to enjoy our meal. Food was OK, not as great as other reviews. Salads were plentiful mounds of very fresh greens but not much flavor dressed. Gazpacho was good. Pico Aglio e Olio was just OK, the pasta Bolognese was good. Flank steak entree, while cooked to correct doneness, did not have much flavor and was very chewy. Service was excellent. All things considered, we wouldn't return any time soon.

We had a reservation for 8pm, drinks came quick, starters at a reasonable pace, our pasta not so much (details below). Food was mid, cocktail was nice, and it was horribly loud in there (no sound dampening and the music was loud so most people were speaking very loudly in order to be heard). If the atmosphere improved and food stayed the same I would say, "cute neighborhood place", if the food improved and the volume stayed the same I would say, "nice place for dinner", as it is, it was loud and food was okay. I'm not going to recommend it to my friends. Not very bicycle friendly, we parked ours on the tree outside. Food timing details: Two tables right next to us got their apps and drinks at the same pace as us, then both got their pasta, ours did not arrive. Then a table that was sat after we finished our apps also got served their pasta before us. Someone finally noticed and brought us our food, then the waitress checked in.

The ambience is really lovely but the food was underwhelming. Starters Roasted carrots 1/5 - almost raw, couldn’t cut through it with my knife Focaccia 2/5 - not much flavor, not impressed Mains Pappardelle bolognese 3/5 - pasta was good, sauce was watery Agnolotti 3.5/5 - pasta itself was good, filling has a chestnut flavor, but the cabbage on it was really bitter Desserts Tiramisu 4.5/5 delicious, if slightly creamier would be 5/5 Pistachio cake 4/5 solid, not too sweet, pistachio flavor could be stronger Service 4/5

We were soo looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately we left pretty underwhelmed. I had pasata carbonara and my friend ordered the risotto. Also shared a burrata appetizer. The burrata was good, the risotto tasted good but was such a tiny portion. My pasta a la carbonara was the worst part. It was the worst carbonara i’ve ever had. It also didnt look or taste anything like it. It looked like a noodle soup with a very watery and thin cream, also very bland tasting. The restaurant is very small, packed, and loud. There’s barely room for servers to pass through the tables. We couldnt hear each other and we’re constantly interrupted by the servers. We felt like the service was overbearing. Given the prices and the bad experience, i will not go back.

Waitress with an attitude. most of the food we ordered was not good to say the least. The beets salad was bland, the melazane was horrible , gnocchi was way over salted and the filetto was over cooked. The only dish we liked was the cannelloni and the desserts.

a
atisha paulson

The restaurant is pretty The lighting is lovely The hostess was friendly The service was initially good The gnocchi arrived luke warm; it felt like I was swallowing little pillows of coal. The steak ($58) came out medium despite requesting it medium rare. The meat was tough and the steak knife sawed through it like wet carpet. The worst part was the end. We were abruptly informed our time was up despite having not finished our entree. They offered to move us to the bar. We declined. The server brought the bill. Someone else told us to get up. We said we were paying. The server took the bill. The hostess came over and told us we had to get up NOW emphasis on NOW. More people checked on us in a span of 2 minutes than they did in two hours. I probably wouldn't go back. Dinner was $180 without dessert and if I felt like being rushed outta a restaurant I'd go somewhere trendy in New York where the attitude is merited by stars

We had the carpaccio, carrots, scallops, and gnocchi. I can say that none of the dishes stood out to me as particularly memorable except in the qualities they lacked. The scallops were over cooked, the carrots undercooked, the sauces under developed, and the originality absent. There are many wonderful places to try, but this is not one.

We recently visited for a birthday dinner and unfortunately had a terrible experience. 1. The ambiance is amazing and offers a chic, rustic vibe. However, the food was bland and unimpressive except for the pappardelle bolognese. 2. Our server was inattentive, rushed us through the ordering process, didn’t offer wine service, and was rude from the start for no apparent reason. 3. When we accidentally presented an expired card for payment, the server returned, slammed the bill on the table, and used offensive language when we confronted him for his rudeness, despite our apology for the mistake. 4. While some staff members were polite, our server (Ryan) made the entire experience unpleasant. TLDR; Good ambiance, average food, inattentive and rude staff. I strongly advise against celebrating any special occasions here.

Do not go to this restaurant. When splitting a check with another couple, we were erroneously charged for the entire bill (the other couple was charged for their half). When we disputed the bill, they now insist we tipped $135 on a $135 bill. While we are good tippers, we are not in the habit of tipping 100%. The restaurant refuses to rectify either their error or someone on their end altering the credit card receipt. The food here is definitely not worth the hassle of being treated in this fashion.
