I’ve always wanted to eat a great Filipino Restaurant and this was the one. My Wife recommended this place for my pre-birthday dinner before our trip to Disneyland. Food here is delicious and reminded my wife of being back home in Pinas. The sizzling plates, the manok, and my calamansi smoothie were all great choices and worth coming back for. The outside seating was nice as I noticed they have a nice indoor seating area that was closed but had the restrooms available. Salamat Po for the masarap na pagkain. 🇵🇭🙏🏼🇺🇸
Second time trying Filipino food, it was really good. The food tastes homemade and with great quality. The portions are big and shareable
Full house with PRE band on a Friday night. Amazing. Food service to the table was reasonable, great service from Ann, the server. Very friendly and accommodating. We ordered Sinugba, Crispy Pata, Sisig Bangus, Pinakbet, Pancit and Banana Fritters with ice cream to celebrate a birthday. We had a complain on the dessert but so nice that we were given a replacement dessert to go after we already paid. We appreciate your consideration and listening to feedback. We love that Gerry’s Grill is around and gives energy to the community in Union City.
We had all kinds of Good Food. Except one. Let’s begin with the sinigang fish , palabok, lumpia, all kinds. All seasoned like mom would make. A good place for mum mum’s bday lunch. Must see pics. Almost forgot, all was tasty and what to expect from a Asian eatery the exception was palabok. Not good at all. As always post wherever you end up so we all can benefit from the honest review.
The food selection is great however it’s a little salty in my opinion, but that’s me. I really loved their Tokwa’t Baboy (Tofu and Pork), Gpops loved the chopseuy as it reminds him of my grandma’s cooking. The sisig is just A1 ~ I’m not really a fan of the squid because in my opinion, it’s undercooked. We ended up taking it home and recooking it. Service was great, Tables and restrooms are clean! 5/5
Good filipino food. The lechon kawali (fried pork belly) is one of our faves. Can't go wrong with the basics: pancit bihon, bbq pork or chicken skewers, kare kare, sizzling pork sisig, sinigang or adobo. The Gerry's Grill ice tea is so smooth and creamy, a must have. Halo halo is ok, the ice is really hard, Leche flan is a teaser size & when you try to mix it every thing starts to spill out, a bigger bowl or tall glass would be better. Service is ok, but could be better. We had a party of 20, but it wasn't too busy yet. Should've kept our glasses filled and given us more napkins. The broth for the beef nilaga was too salt for my taste.
I know this restaurant has been around for 20 years but it was my 1st time here. The food tastes authentic, service is great. Some people say the servings are small but they are actually just right. I had their lomi (for take out) and had their halo-halo, inihaw na bangus for a late lunch. Was worth the trip. Will definitely be back.
The food at Gerry’s Grill is decent—I’d rate it about 4 out of 5 for flavor and overall yumminess. The only downside is that the portions are a bit on the small side. However, what really makes this place stand out is the live music! The atmosphere is lively and fun, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Definitely recommend visiting for the food and the great entertainment!
Return visit in June 2024 finds the place more popular than ever. They moved the entrance to the right side of the restaurant. Crispy Pata was excellent, and everything else, pork sisig, kare kare, lumpia, bbq pork skewers, were good as well. _________________ Judging by the all Filipino crowd when we went there, Gerry Grill serves pretty authentic Filipino food. Quality is subjective, but for newbies, it's pretty good. The space is large, and i think they took over the adjacent space a few years ago. From the outside, you might think it's a sports bar of some sort, but inside, it's a spacious, busy, and clean restaurant with families, couples, and seniors all enjoying a meal. Some might say the food is overpriced and just ok or not ok, but we thought the prices were moderate and the food was pretty good. Kare kare - a well-known dish. Beef chunks and oxtail stewed in a peanut sauce. I liked it. Others may not for various reasons Gerry's fried chicken - fried to order and piping hot, the chicken is tasty perhaps a bit salty but certainly not greasy.comes with fries and a better deal than the $15 six Piece chicken.joy bucket at Jolibee Bistec beef in a vinegar sauce. It was tasted pretty good I don't know enough to judge Adobo fried rice - full of good flavors. Good size portion and would pair well with a soup. Looking at what others are ordering, it seems like the way to go is to order a soup or some noodles and pair it with a deep fried item.. like fried chicken, crispy pata, or fried pork belly Service is pretty good . Our server was polite and friendly, but we didn't see him as However, other staff came by to check on things and asked if everything was ok. Parking is readily available, but you might have to park further away when it's busy Gerrys is popular for a reason and offers a great introduction to Filipino cuisine. For those who have no objection to eating from a "pork forward" menu, give Gerrys a try
This place has been around for a while. They still attract a loyal following of Pinoy diners who come here for good food. The food is above average for sure, but pricey! Just today, we ordered the "adobong kambing" which tasted pretty good, but over-priced at $27 IMHO! We're probably going to keep coming back because, as Pinoy restaurants in the area go, they are one of the better ones in terms of taste, ambiance and consistency.
The food is great no doubt. We are Filipinos and we love Filipino foods wherever restaurant it is. But I rated this restaurant with 3 stars for the reason that I did not like the service we received. It was too crowded and full, which I understand. But the service is way too slow. It was difficult to get the attention of the server because they are too busy. I also felt like some of them are dodging our waves. That is why even though we want to order some more we just did not do anyway. I think the management should put on more staffs especially on peak days and peak hours. And another thing when it was time for us to bill out, the server just billed us out with his chosen amount of tip. Oh my goodness! Isn't it the customer should be the one to input how much tip should he/she give depending on how satisfied is he/she on the service? This is the only restaurant that the server is the one who decided and input the amount of tip. Maybe we were just so unlucky to have this server assigned to us. I hope the management will conduct more training on proper customer service to their staffs.
Everything was overpriced. The palabok was as salty as the dead sea no matter how many lemons I used. The sinigang was so-so. The sugba Kilaw was just ok, I wish they'd use a diff fish rather than Tuna bec of the strong aftertaste. The crispy pata is the only one that I liked. Our waiter was absent-minded and forgot our desserts even after 2 follow-ups that we had to escalate. They had a live band bec we went on a Friday and it was too loud but that's how people like it back in pinas I guess. Overall, I would not recommend that kids go on Fri, sat and Sunday nights OR whenever there's a band.
Our family visited this place for the first time, and it was honestly disappointing. The food and ambiance were good, and the long wait was understandable since it was the weekend. However, we sat at our table for almost half an hour without a server, and when she finally arrived, she attended to the table behind us even though we had arrived first. The food came out in phases: we received the first three dishes, and the other three only came out after half of us were already done eating. We had to ask the manager for a follow-up since our server was nowhere to be found. To the Saturday night manager, thank you for helping us. We’re normally not picky guests; two of us even work in the hospitality industry, so we understand how busy weekends can get. But in situations like that, you’d usually see your server moving around, checking in on tables. In our case, we only saw her twice… once to take our order and once to hand us the bill. Easy service charge. We’re definitely not coming back, we were just visiting anyway.
SF East Bay. Maybe because I just came from Manila where of course everything is authentic tasting but the food here was BAD. I knew there was a reason why we haven’t eaten here for at least a decade & last night was a reminder of exactly why. Except for the chicharon bulaklak which seriously you just need to deep fry so it’d be hard to mess this up & the beef ribs sinigang which was tender & good, the other dishes were just not good. The sisig was bad, I couldn’t taste the bagoong in the bagoong rice & the garlic adobo shreds tasted like how I think deep fried paper would taste. I don’t recommend eating here at all.
I’ve been wanting to try out this place for a while. Today is the third time I came in to order food. Due to work, I am not able to get the restaurant super early, but definitely well within the service window. They close at 9 pm on weekdays. All three times I am told the kitchen is closed and no longer taken orders. The first time I came in within 35 minutes of closing (working in the hospitality industry I understand that could be a little late). Second time I came in 45 minutes. Today I came within almost an hour before they close. There are still bunch of people eating in the restaurant. The front desk told me kitchen was closed before 8 pm. Again, I understand staff want to go home. But it’s really kind of rude to close the kitchen more than an hour before the actual closing time by any service industry measurement. If the owner of the restaurant sees this, please fix this for your future patrons. Thanks.
