We ate here for the first time and really enjoyed it. We met the owner Chris who was very nice and told us about their other locations and ability to deliver. All of the employees were extremely nice as well. Definitely recommend.
Fresh made to order, but wait was so worth it!!! Definitely recommend, the employees were friendly and helpful. Food was hot and full of flavor. Ordered the lo mein, and rice boxes you can pick your level of spicy!
In town from Austin and only had one shot to get some great food before I leave tomorrow. I made the right decision. Chris's fried rice is amazing here. Probably my favorite fried rice to date! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was spiced right and served in a large box that could easily feed two people. Amy only regret is that I may never return to have it again. Great job rice box!
Always consistent! And so good, the cream cheese wantons with the Chris fried rice are the perfect combo
I love beef Lo Mein And Rice House is the best.
I ordered on 5-18-25 and whoever was cooking that afternoon needs a raise because our food was delicious!
This place is truly great. The service is always amazing they have always greeted everyone with a smile everytime I've visited. The food is delicious, I am obsessed with the chicken lomein it's fantastic. The facilities and dining area are always clean which absolutely makes the experience that much better. I definitely recommend trying if you haven't already.
Ordered fried pork dumplings, fried spring rolls, Chris fried rice, and General Tso's chicken curry style. All was great. Ordered entrées at a medium spice level and it was accurate. Will try hot next time. Dumplings and spring rolls are great, not greasy at all. Plenty of food. Will order again $2 delivery fee is worth it. Tip your courier!
To feed the whole family if it is your first time here you may think it is a little high on the price... but everyone will end up full and most likely have some leftovers. If you do not like really spicy food get no spice! I used to get the medium spice but noticed after a few times it is not consistent on how spicy it is. Some times it would be just enough for me and other times a little to much. So now I just get no spice and it is great! My very young children love this food as well.
First time eating here. Got carry out of sesame chicken, general chicken, beef lo mein. I was kinda of surprise that I had to order 3 individual meals to get lo mein. Most of the time, it comes with the meal. At 28 bucks for these 3 items I thought it was bit pricey. And the smell when we got in the car was kinda unappetizing. I was almost sick by the time we got home. The sesame chicken and general chicken tasted the same except for some sprinkled sesame seeds. No veggies at all. The lo mein was overcooked but the best thing I ate. Would I eat there again? No I wouldn't. Update: I appreciate the owner refunding my money. Thanks. It's only right that I give you another try. So, tonight I ordered some of Chris's fried rice. It was awesome! I will be back for more. I noticed that this restaurant owner is all about the customer. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
The sesame chicken tasted burnt and so did the fried rice. The chicken nuggets were great. But the staff was very nice and attentive. Update - 2021 We tried this place again around Oct 2020, mainly because our friends kept saying it was good... despite our previous experience. We figured we would give it another shot being that they were at a new location. I must say that our experience was totally difference from the first time. Since them we've ordered from there like 4 times. It is awesome. This spot became is tied for #1 on my books since trying it again. If in the Ellis county area, you gotta try the food.
Ordered and paid from home and told them what my husband's car looked like. Polite and courteous. Walked order out to husband. Food was good and enough for a second night prices were very reasonable. Do wish they would have some fortune or almond cookies as desert. All in all we were both very pleased. Can't wait till we can dine in. Stay safe.
Today was our first time trying Rice Box. I can without a doubt say i was very impressed with not only the food but the customer service we received from the time we ordered until we were leaving. Hayden was the manager on duty and the one who took our order. He was polite, professional and patient. Hayden would be a great asset to any company! Will be returning and recommending to friends and family!!!!
We have eaten here twice and absolutely love it!! It is so good and really fills you up! We got the Chris fried rice I got it spicy and it was delicious!
After reviewing other reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I phoned in with questions and they were answered. I chose the Chris fried rice and boy am I glad I did. This rice is perfectly seasoned and damn it's good. I have been in Dallas for 8 yrs and this by far is the best fried rice. The sesame chicken was also better than most places, but my favorite is the rice. Will have to visit again to try other entrees, but I don't think that they will compare to the Chris fried rice. Thanks again for a great first time experience.
Good food. Showed up and they had a new kid working at the front who had great manners. I like to see teenagers with great manners. Overall I enjoyed the food and it came out in a good amount of time. Great portions for the price.
This place was absolutely immaculate. The 3 employees on shift when I ate here were exemplary in every way. Courteous and helpful, they were first rate. And when they finished my order they went back to cleaning. These people really care and it shows. Idk what they're being paid but u can't put a price tag on being complete and thorough. They have passion. They work hard. Give these folks a raise and pat on the back. Good help Is hard to find. Keep up the good work.
This is my first time ordering from Rice House Express, and man it was delicious! The egg drop soup was so yummy with the wantons. And I’ve never been able to choose my spice level on broccoli chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised! Overall, very delicious and nice portions.
Very fast service, friendly personnel, food was cooked to perfection and not a long wait for my order. You really have to try the Chris's Fried Rice. Large portions, and it was great. My only complaint is they are stingy with their sauce packets, and if you want extra, they are .10 each! It's still a great place, and I highly recommend. So give em a try.
I have been meaning to stop in for months and finally came for lunch with friends. Plenty to choose from. We all ordered something different and shared. What fun we had because everything was so tasty. While eating our wonderful server gave us samples of the “Famous Chris Fried Rice”. Bye bye Panda…. We are now Rice House Fans!!! P.S. forgot to say the portions are so generous that I have 3 meals from my order. I love Chinese food leftovers! You guys are the BOMB ! We’re coming back!
Our first time trying Rice House Express was excellent! We had it delivered through UberEats and the food was still warm upon arrival, packed to the brim with ingredients in every container and very delicious!! We will be eating here again and again!
Drove up from Ennis for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Everything was great and Christian along with the rest of the crew made us feel very welcome. Without a doubt please give the homemade shrimp egg rolls a try and the Wontons were a nice sweet treat.
Thank you all at RICE HOUSE EXPRESS! It was my first time there today and I felt welcome the second I stepped in! I was greeted and attended timely and professionally! I want to thank especially Lincoln and Jaselin! (I'm probably butchering y'all's names lol) And of course all the Staff and shout out to the chef because this Chris here loves the Chris Fried Rice 🍚😂👌🏽👌🏽😎 thank you all again have a blessed one! Will be back! Oh and the sauce is spicy 🫡
My son and I had a quick lunch here, the food was very fresh and the taste was wonderful. Friendly staff, clean
Wonderful experience!! The food was great, ESPECIALLY the hot and sour soup… I have Tried lots of them and this one may be the best I’ve ever had.
My wife and I had a very good experience eating at the Rice House Express in Waxahachie. The food taste very good and it did not take long for us to receive our orders. Our food was hot from just being cooked and that was great. I like very very spicy food and they got it right. It was spicy. They could add some ghost pepper to make the food a little more spicy. We ate inside the restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and the individual that took our orders was very polite and took time to adderss our questions about the menu. The cost are a little on the pricey side, but they do offer a wide selection in different price ranges. Overall I would give them a 10 out of 10 rating. We will frequent this restaurant again soon.
The delivery food was good as claimed by other reviews. Fast and friendly was staying at motel 6. Even got an extra drink on the house since they ran out of my fountain drink flavor. Friendly and attentive staff ill definitely eat here again. Only downside they forgot the utensils.
First time to try out RBE, ordered General Tso’s Chicken and some wings. Staff all very friendly from greeting to exit. Food was ordered to go, was very hungry and the wings got hammered on drive home. Wings were great, not greasy and cooked perfectly and tasty. Previous posts advise they give you alot of food and they do. I’m a big guy and like to eat and was surprised that they fit as much General Tso’s chicken into the box as they did, literally could not have fit any more food into that box. The entree was again cooked perfectly and flavor is every bit as good as high end asian restaurants like PF Changs. I ordered medium level spice and it was great, tons of flavor, enough heat to get the sinuses going, but did not kill the flavor of the food. Only thing that was a little disappointing was the fried rice,, it was basically rice with some soy sauce, but rice was cooked perfectly and not gummy like some reported. I’ll be back to try the Chris Fried Rice to see how that is. People complaining about the price need to understand that everything costs more nowadays and you can’t go buy everything at HEB cook it and have it come out as good and tasty as RBE. All in all I’ll be back to tey some more dishes.
good place for inexpensive food. they have a nice variations of Chinese food and different levels of spice. The portions are big so you could possible feed yourself twice in one box. The place is a bit old but the food makes up for the decor.
The service was excellent. For my first time at this place it was pretty good..I enjoyed the Sesame Chicken and the shrimp Eggrolls. Their Hot and Sour soup is much better than the wall so I will definitely be getting my soup fix there from now on. The kids mostly enjoyed their food but I have one picky eater so that's pretty good. I will say the Chris Fried rice while good was not as good as I thought it would be. There is an blandness to it that I can't really explain. It wasn't bad just not as good as I was hoping it would be. But over all we had a good dining experience. So four stars today.
I ordered the orange chicken with basic fried rice. The portion sizes were great, and the orange chicken was good. The orange chicken was in a box that retained heat well. I ate all of the chicken in the restaurant, and the meal was hot the entire time. The fried rice wasn't tasty; however, I still enjoyed my experience thanks to the orange chicken and excellent customer service. I declined to order a drink, but an employee insisted that I have a water cup. That employee checked on my table multiple times, and the restaurant seemed to have a friendly atmosphere. If I were in the area again, I would return to this restaurant. The owner and store manager have hired a great crew!
Have had take out from here a couple of times, not disappointed. The food is tasty, hot and fresh. The various selections offer great appetite satisfaction. The Staff is friendly and communicates with the customers. Will continue to enjoy the food here.
Food was ok. Really liked the shrimp egg rolls. Service was good. Might try it again, but only if in the area. Probably wouldn't go out of our way to eat here.
Tried the Hawaiian Rice and added chicken actually like it better than the Chris Fried Rice. We always get the sweet and sour chicken and also tried their homemade shrimp roll, and we really enjoyed it. Love eating inside instead of ordering to go.
Love the Chris fried rice!!! I think it is fairly priced for how much you receive! This is a great location. I order online and it is ready when it says it is going to be. Not a long wait, and is hot and delicious.
Friendly greeting upon entering. And wasn't a very long wait. Got home and the hot sour was what seemed like a lot of soy sauce flavor. And the mushrooms were a first for me in a hot and sour soup. Portion was fine and it was very thick too. The signature rice was okay and a little underwhelming was expecting better. It was okay but not great. Missing meat in it too and the shrimp what I did find was very tiny. The generals chicken was lightly coated and sauce was light too. Chicken was tough and dry. There are limited Chinese food places in the area. Not sure if I will be back. Too bad.
This is my 1st time eating here and it's pretty good for the price. The staff are very cool and even brought me out a sampler of fried rice which they are best known for called, the "Chris Fried Rice". I thought the sampler was delicious! But I ordered the beef seshuan and it was also equally delicious. I definitely recommend this place.
The food is marginally ok, no single asian person here. it clearly seems that after lockdowns and delivery only the employees are not paying attention to detail to live customers. It was about well over five minutes and still I got something different that what order, which was order B2 on your menu. I got a to-go pint of chicken & rice! The music is loud enough and annoying...there isn't any evidence of management or ownership here. Basically a ship that reacts to the waves. Managers, or better yet, owners is on you, you are failing like the rest of the fast food industry. No signs of recovery. I dont see why people cant even see that and score at 4.7 because, again the food is marginally ok.1 Please, No need to reply with staff shortages or COVID-19 excuses...get it fixed!
Service was good but the orange chicken had little if any orange flavor. The general toaes was good and the fried rice was good. Maybe my fault but I come from Nebraska and the Chinese up their surve a much better meal.
Ordered on doordash! It took about 20 mins to get to me, which was nice! It was still hot but just not that good. I got the orange chicken, with fried rice and a side of the cream cheese wontons. The dipping sauce for the cream cheese wontons is pink and very bland. I didn't expect the color that's for sure. The wontons had A LOT of cream cheese in them, which was nice! Some of the orange chicken was slimy and chewy though. 😬 Also kind of bland, I could tell there was a sauce on it but I wouldn't describe it as an orange sauce. The fried rice also had nothing in it, just rice. Overall, it was okay.
starting to think ricebox either HATES my house personally, or that they hire SLOW moving staff. Last experience a few days ago wasn't so great, so I gave them another try. I was the First customer in their day today to call and make a delivery order and the guy told me it was going to take 30-60 minutes for a 14$ order and guess what?????? I live just a few blocks away from them. Sure no biggie....I GUESS. Fast forward to 70 MINUTES LATER and finally the delivery guy shows up. Food wasn't warm, but at least my soup was hot-which was really confusing. Maybe it's the side of town I live on.. Maybe the weather cooled my food down. Maybe I'm just an impatient jerk-mom at her wits end with 4 kids. Who knows???? I'm only giving 3 stars because Usually rice box is my #1place...But lately, you guys have not been for me....I'm sorry!!!!
Rice dishes where delicious other plates weren’t
I haven't tasted the food, but I have before, that's what the stars are for. The customer service is another issue. I called to place my order and was put on hold. I was still on hold when I arrived over ten minutes later. The guy was just standing there. And I said I guess I can hang up now... I'm still on hold. He said he'd just finished the lunch rush, as I'm looking at the 5 whole people sitting n the restaurant. TIP to owner:Profits only come with orders You need to make sure the people you employ are not just working for you, but with you... Not against you IJS!
I had visited this location a year ago when I came for the holidays. The Chris fried rice curry style was amazing. I tried it this year and the rice was over cooked, the lo mein was smoosh, and the fried dumpling was dry and over cooked. The quality of the food has definitely changed which is unfortunate. The customer service is great, but the food is barely edible
On the spur of the moment, me and my decided to give Rice House a try. The food is made to order. As we wait, it is a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. All three of us ordered some type of tofu dishes with fried rice. And my daughter ordered some spring rolls. For three people the total came to $61. Our food arrives. There is a lot. In fact none of us finished the meal at the restaurant. Typical fast food quality. They drown the Kung Poa Tofu in sauce. One has to use rice to make the plate edible. Carrots, lots & lots of carrots. My daughter ordered Tofu Fried Rice. Now that looked good. A meal I would recommend over the Kung Poa Tofu. All and all not a bad experience. Next time I request half sauce. I’m going to give them another try.
Working in the area, I stopped in one night for dinner (to go). Very much an ‘American’ style Chinese food. I grabbed fried rice, egg rolls, and crab cheese wontons. Friendly staff. I also requested hot sauce and was giving some scorchingly hot pepper oil. I was warned about the heat and it definitely lived up to the hype. A lot of cheap, fried food.
I’d like some honesty, better organization, and respect during this pandemic. I understand I ordered during the dinner rush. I was advised to pick up my order 30-35 minutes. I waited 45 to be sure and when I walked in, my order was not ready. I realized the dine in had people spaced out as safe as possible, waiting on their delayed order as well. I waited an additional 40 minutes for my dinner. I would’ve waited longer had i not approached the register for an update. My dinner had been bagged and placed to the side for a while, having never called out my name. The look on their face was of embarrassment. When i politely asked why wasn’t I called when i saw this bag placed a while ago, the lady proceded to hand me my bag saying here and walked away. How rude! No apology much less a thank you for my patience! This is not the time to be lying if you are too backed up to follow safety protocols during the pandemic for fear of losing a client’s order!
I love the food... But I'm getting absolutely tired of the service. It isn't so much that they aren't polite, it's more of a matter of a combination of inconsistency and awful long hold times to place an order. I've waited 15 minutes plus just to get somebody on the phone. Then they'll pick up, and ask if you can hold, but don't wait for an answer before placing you back on hold. On those days, the wait time for food can be 45 minutes to an hour, and that's picking it up.
Nothing special about this place. The food is overpriced and nothing special about the flavor. The service was monotone and unwelcoming. I’d rather go to Panda Express and not get ripped off.
My Grandson, my Granddaughter, and I visited this location for the 1st time during the weekend coming up on Spring Break. I ordered the shrimp fried rice, and they ordered the orange chicken with fried rice. My grandson, granddaughter, and I washed our hands, and opened our food boxes, to prepare to eat. They said to me, " granny the chicken is dark looking and it don't smell good or taste right. I said well let me taste one. I looked at it and it looked like it was cooked in a dark gravy. I tasted it, and it did not taste like orange chicken. And it was the correct orders, but the food just didn't taste good. We will not be going back to this location. The location in Glenn Heights stay very busy, because that location of food is very good!!! You have to order ahead or you will have a long wait time. This location doesn't look like it is open during business hours. It could be that the food at this location is not good. The wait staff here, were friendly young girls, but the food is not good. They also give you one packet of soy sauce, and one packet of sweet and sour sauce. You have to ask for chop sticks if you want them. I definitely will not go back to this location.
To be fair I enjoyed the food but I feel like I am getting ripped off for the price. Explain how 20oz of rice with some meat and 1 egg roll should cost almost (Actual cost $14.33 after tax)15 dollars??? Then when asked if I want some sweet and sour sauce with my egg roll I was charged another .75 cents (Which I declined)?!?!?! If I am spending that much for some rice and an egg roll you would think I could get some f@#ing sweet and sour sauce at no extra cost. Talk about feeling "Sweet and Sour" about an experience. Never again!
First time I ordered food from here, it was great. Today wasn’t so great. The Chris fried rice was good. However, we ordered the broccoli beef and it had almost zero beef. $10 for white rice and some broccoli in beef sauce. Lesson learned. Skip the broccoli beef unless you’re vegetarian.
I originally gave Rice Box 5 stars... but after my last 3 orders, I have to change my rating. The food is pretty good and the staff is friendly... but I DO NOT recommend placing an order for pickup or delivery. The last 3 times I placed an order over the phone, it has taken over an hour longer than my quoted time. The last time I placed an order for delivery, I was quoted 45-55 minutes. After 2 hours of waiting, I received a call from my delivery driver saying that my food was ALMOST ready and would be delivered soon. 2 HOURS! I cannot say that I will be ordering food from here again. 2 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for food to be ALMOST ready, especially after being quoted only 45 minutes. Also very frustrating that I only see Rice Box responding to 5 star ratings. Seems like they don't care to make things right with customers that have had bad experiences.
No website or accurate menu/pricing. Yesterday I ordered 7 individual meals and they all were priced $2 dollars higher than listed on the minimum info I could find online. Fried rice had no egg or veggies, so I wouldn't call it fried rice. One order was for sweet and sour chicken. Got home and there was no sweet and sour sauce, so basically just chicken nuggets for my sister in law. Not impressed.
The food is really good but they nickel and dime you for things like sauces. Additionally, if you call in and they get an order wrong, they’ll say that they repeated it back to you an did you want the correct thing you’ll have to order it again. …and that’s coming from the manager. There are plenty of places to get fried rice (including right across the street) that actually care about their customers, so I won’t be going back.
Food is good, we eat here fairly regularly. Came in at 830pm and ordered to dine in. At 845 an employee came over and stated, "just to let you know we close at 9," as if to say, you need to get your food to go b/c we don't want to wait on you to eat.
Service was good. Food came quickly. Atmosphere is nice. However, the lomein was salty and fried dumplings was dry and not tasty. I enjoyed the fortune cookie and water.
Ordered $60 worth of food! Egg rolls were great, fried chicken dumplings were great. Other than that, the meals were heat lamp style. Tasted like buffet food that had been sitting out all day. I ordered sweet and sour chicken…got the chicken…but no sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was mainly breading and no chicken. Orange chicken and sesame chicken were very dry and tough. Not saucy much at all. We may have to give it another try, just gotta make sure we actually go in and eat there instead of delivery.
T times I have been there. All 3 times they spelled my name wrong. When I complained Thursday night, I was told that using a name is more personal. Getting my receipt and seeing my name misspelled is insulting. It is not personal. It is deliberately rude. Ask how to spell. Brian is not hard to spell.
Today, I went to get hot and sour soup and chicken fried rice... It was so thick... and tastes like, they heated it up and the bottom of the pan was burnt in the process. Then poured it into the take out bowl. Their rice, whether its, Chris rice or regular chicken fried rice. It's a no go. No flavor, no smoky fried rice flavor, like others that I've been too... just plain, boring and ugh. Ruined my comfort food moment. Again!!! Their orange chicken is ok. Nothing to say about that. Just ok. I have been twice and will not go back.
man i never expected this from RiceHouse😖😭. everyone in there is always so nice and pleasant, my order does not match with their great service. I could hardly eat my Sweet-and-sour chicken, it was really burnt. I just don’t understand how they saw this would be okay once they saw how burnt the chicken was. Also I ordered an order of plain lo mein, and instead we got plain fried rice 🤦🏻♀️
Went to this establishment after an outing with my family, ordered the lo mein and it stunk of old cigarette butts, the "vegetables" tasted like plastic toys, the menu was drawn on with inappropriate images, underneath the tables was an assortment of gums still wet, the restrooms are not up to code as the toilet is leaking water. Would not recommend this place if it were the last restaurant on earth.
My fried rice was overcooked and tasted like oil. My husband's chris fried rice had burnt pieces throughout the bowl, my daughters lomein was extra spicy and was not what she requested. I only went one to this restaurant one other time during the year i have resided in this area, but I will not return, or will go to one of the other locations.
The order taker was nice and friendly enough and even agreed to deliver my order for later the same day. The Lo Mein was by far the absolute worst I have ever had! It was loaded with onions and was extremely oily. I couldn’t eat much of it it was so very greasy and salty.
We were so looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately my orange chicken was dried out and burnt tasting you could not tell it was orange chicken.. and my husband's beef broccoli was soaked in soy sauce as were the noodles. The egg drop soup tasted old and my hot and sour soup was burnt tasting also. We trashed 30+ dollars worth of food plus a 10 tip and had upset stomachs . on the plus side the young man that delivered the food was very nice and polite.
Ordered from there Super Bowl Sunday, one of the meets were genuinely rotten, threw the entire meal away because when we opened the bag the smell was just overwhelming. Used to be my go to spot , owners used to always be in there, not any more. Place is on a static decline
The Glenn Heights location USED to be my favorite place to get fried rice but not anymore. The last 3 visits over the last 3-4 months have been terrible. I even called to complain about the rice. The rice is so over cooked, it's very very smushy...It wasn't like this in the past. I'm not sure if it's a new cook or a new way of cooking the rice or is it all thogether new because of the name change..Rice Box to Rice House. Whatever caused this change, it's a NO for my family & I. If we are feeling up to the challenge, we may try the other location...
Once again, rice box was 2 and a half hours out and more for delivery. I understand that things happen like being short staffed but I placed my order @ 6:28 and it’s 9:15 and still no delivery. If your going to run a business in the food industry, you need to have a back up plan for your unexpected inconsistencies. Need to be better in this department for me to order from rice box again. Always inform your customers also! I said this last time and it shows why you haven’t improved. Need better management!
Ordered my food ahead of time, and was told 10-15 mins…. I arrived after the 15 mins and then continued to wait.. it took them 35 mins to get me my food. And they had 4 teen workers that were just talking and on their phones. I thought the first time was a fluke but this is the second time I have experienced this, so this is a consistent problem.
I wish I could give zero stars. Rice is to gummy, sticky and blah. All the food is blah and no I'm not sick and lost taste. Last time I ate the rice it was to salty. I thought they changed but was wrong. The sweet and sour chicken was fried so hard it was like eating jerky. The sweet and sour sauce taste like just pure sugar. If you want Chinese please, it's worth driving a few more miles for it.
Went here last night after calling in my order, got home and my order was NOT correct at all. Plus it had hair in it, couldn't even eat it. Called and was on hold 30 minutes before I decided to hang up. Second time trying this place and the last time definitely. Better off going through a drive thru at a fast food place, that's 20$ I'll never get back.
They do not have any organization when it comes to making the orders. Had 2 seperate orders placed at the same time. Arrived at 6:35 and 1 of the orders was ready and the other one was not. I asked if there was an update on how long it would be until the second order was ready and they told me they couldn't give me a time frame. Even when I told them the orders were placed at the same time. The employees told me they don't have any system on making orders, they just grab a ticket and start making it. So it doesn't matter when your order was placed because someone could have placed an order 30 minutes after you and get thier food 30 minutes before you. My second order was finally ready at 7:25, which was almost an hour after I arrived at the store and at least an hour after the first order was prepared and ready! This definitely needs to be addressed by management.
As a first time costumer, I think it’s “okay” prices are high. Now portions are very large that’s a solid plus, I ordered the chicken and broccoli with fried rice, a favorite of mine. First off the bat the rice was horrible. It was flavorless and lacked the eggs and vegetables I’m so very used to having in my meals, the chicken and broccoli, cooked well but lacked flavor in themselves, it all stemmed from sauce I felt was just poured onto it once boxed. I order to-go and noticed my bag ripping and leaking once I got out of my car (I live 4 mins away, if that. It was a nasty mess to clean up.) Service was quick and they’re very friendly. Would I return? I don’t believe so, Asian buffet right across the way has a three entree box for 12$ much cheaper then I paid and a much more pleasant flavoring. (UPDATE) We had our food remade and gave them another chance, given this was a week later it made both me and my boyfriend upset at just how nasty it was!!! This time it tasted as if they rolled it around in dirt! Never, ever going back ):
I’ve always loved this place, but tonight i was left highly disappointed. I ordered the lo main and it had a stench of cigarettes so bad that i could taste it with each bite. At first i thought maybe it was just the box having a weird smell, so i put it in a bowl of my own, and that seemed to make it much worse if possible. I couldn’t eat more than a few bites. Their fried rice is my favorite and what i usually get, but after tonight i don’t know if i can bring myself to come back. Not sure how good can have such a strong cigarette smell and taste, but it was bad.
Food is okay, wait time is a little long for the amount of people there were at the time. That alone, I would give 3-4 stars, but the reason for the one star is the atrocious food handling I witnessed. An employee in the middle of the restaurant was sweeping, handled a nasty rug, then IMMEDIATELY turned to handle food being prepped for customers for everyone to see. Wash your hands, dude! Blatant neglect for food safety and not worth the risk.
They can do better! I've eaten Chris Rice 3xs. The second and third times were the worse. The rice was overcooked and the order was delivered an hour past the estimated time. The last time I ate there the shrimp fried rice lacked the one thing it shouldn't have. The Shrimp!!!!! My last three visits were a disappointment. I'll pass on this dining experience.
We've been here on 3 occasions. First time was great. Good food and there was no doubt that we got what we ordered, which was General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken. The second time around we ordered the same thing and were surprised to find chicken that all looked and tasted the same. Not like General Tso's or Orange. Just chicken cooked in whatever they cook it in to make it brown. Thinking that the previous visit must've been an anomaly, we tried a third time. Complete disappointment. Same order, same brown and taste-free chicken. No General Tso's, no Orange. No more patronizing this establishment. I don't know what the crew members think they're doing, but it surely isn't providing the food we ask for. And that's too bad because Waxahachie needs some more good Chinese take-out. Rice House ain't cuttin' it. We do not plan on returning again.
I knew I would be disappointed from the moment I walked in but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try it anyway. There wasn't one Asian person in site. They are highly over priced compared to "traditional" Chinese restaurants. I ordered a pint of the Chris fried rice and an egg roll and it cost $15. The so called fried rice was steamed rice with a little soy sauce on it and the egg roll tasted like the frozen kind you can buy at Walmart. The cashier didn't know the difference between an egg roll and a spring roll. Although I know the difference, what he told me was, the "big" one is the pork kind and the "little" one is the shrimp kind🙄 The service was terrible, I felt like I was in a pizza shop ran by a bunch on "non Asain" teenagers and it showed especially in the food. Word to the wise to the owner of this place. If you're going to advertise a certain culture and cusine then you need to stick by that and not have a totally different atmosphere and food that tastes nothing like what it supposed to taste like. I will never visit this place again. Highly disappointed!!!
Usually love this place but tonight it was terrible. Ordered 4 shrimp egg rolls and each one only had 2 pieces of shrimp each and were literally dripping with grease. They were so greasy it stained my car seat through the bag. I ordered Chris fried rice with no pork and paid $3 extra for extra shrimp. It was full of pork and had 5 pieces of shrimp in the whole thing. Owner needs to retrain the cooks. Total waste of money this time. So disappointed
If I could give a negative 20 rating I would. We ordered food from here many times and LOVE the rice. However today while home sick myself with a sick child We ordered using Uber eats at 7:00 pm with a arrival time if 8:05 which was late but we had slept all day and finally had an appetite. After several alerts that my food was delayed I called the restaurant in Waxahachie only to be told there was nothing they could do, and would not refund my money. The person on the phone placed me on hold briefly only to come back and say she spoke to the GM and she could not refund my money. At that time another alert came saying another driver was given my food and arrival time is 9:00 pm. I am so disappointed in Rice Box and I will definitely not let this go. I give reviews when service is good and never thought I would be giving this place a bad one. Customer service is everything and tonight Rice Box failed big time!
DO NOT EAT HERE. This experience was the worst chinese food i've ever eaten in my life, 100% disgusting. I paid $60 for a family meal and it was inedible. We have frequented the Italy location (being remodeled) and their shrimp egg roll and egg drop soup were the best versions i've ever tasted in my life, truly works of art. Yesterday we had the same foods at the Waxahachie location for the first time and it was horrific. I have uploaded a photo of the 2 mini shrimp that was all that was in the egg roll aside from cabbage, these were definitely not even fresh shrimp, they were dried and rehydrated. This is a level of extremely low quality food I have never experienced. I would not eat this food even if it was free, honestly. The szechuan beef was basically all cabbage and gross sweet sauce, hardly any meat and the meat that was there was tiny pieces of super overcooked garbage.
Soups are always too thick like pudding. The meat in the fried rice is very shistey. Not worth the price. Save your money. Do not recommend.
I called in an order for the Chris fried rice extra spicy get the order home no spicy just plain Chris fried rice. My husband goes to pick up the corrected order supposedly and this is just burnt rice with no flavor. It’s really ridiculous that these cooks serve trash like this especially high as this place is, just really don’t make no sense. Will never be eating here again!
Decided to give the restaurant a try after we heard good things about it, however, I was disappointed. The food was okay, not much flavor to it and the meat tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. The store also had a lot of employees on the clock, so about 3-4 where hovered around one table just talking away taking their sweet time to get food out to tables and packed up for delivery drivers who where waiting.
Ordered two beef and broccoli, very disappointed with the food quality. The brown sauce is more like brown gravy. The whole dish has the consistency of sludge. Spice level was off. Also didn't get my complimentary hot oil. What's most frustrating is we ordered the same 2 dishes yesterday and they were so good we came back today. How can the food quality change so drastically in a day? Very disappointed.
Literally sat in the dining area for 20 minutes waiting for our to-go order. When we finally went to ask about it, our order had apparently been sitting at the counter the whole time! No one EVER called our name to let us know! So incredibly rude, lazy, and inconsiderate, ESPECIALLY when you pay $70 for food! We will NOT be coming back to this location!
I was so excited to try this place because I have read great things about it. Let me tell you, I am extremely disappointed and let down. I ordered the sesame chicken with plain fried rice. The chicken looks like it was just sitting under the heating lamp a long time. It no longer has any semblance of crunch, and it tastes like fish! The fried rice is okay at best. I know it says plain so I wasn't expecting anything extra in there, but there is no flavor what so ever.
Pleasant service but terrible food. Both my wifes dish and mine (sesame chicken) were salted out the wazoo, my wife could not eat hers. Mine was drowning in crazy salty sauce and mostly cabbage. One of the worst "chinese" meals I have ever had.
Barely any beef in the broccoli and beef meal. The broccoli was very tough. The fried wontons were overcooked. This is the second time we’ve been disappointed from this location. Would rather eat at The Wall from now on.
This place always take forever on orders. They either need to hire more help or new management. Every time i come here i wait a while and not exaggerating either. There was like 6 or 7 people waiting on their orders.
Horrible. I used to eat here at least once per month or so, but the last two times that I have ordered from here, the food is inedible. I took the food back last time for a refund, but I just wasted $13 this time as I don't feel like driving back. The chicken lo mein tastes disgusting!!! There is like an old oil flavor that is so pungent that you can't get past it.. very, very gross and disappointing. I will not ever return.. twice is enough for me to learn my lesson.
