We went for lunch for the first time at this restaurant, overall a fantastic experience. Greeted at the entrance and brought into a lounge, ordered a couple cocktails, and were brought some pre-lunch bites. Once our drink was finished, we were escorted to our table and greeted and served by a very attentive, kind, and knowledgeable staff that walked us through the menu. We added the cheese plate and few glasses of wine to pair off the courses, great experience all around. We look forward to returning for dinner and especially lunch/drinks on the lake-side terrace when warmer weather arrives.

Another great meal at Auberge Du Lac, from the minute you walk in the door you are made very welcome, with the friendliness of the staff you know you are in for a relaxing evening. We got here very early at 5 pm as we wish to enjoy the views before it got dark. So the waiter asked if we would like the courses to be spread out so we get more atmosphere when other tables are taken. The food is amazing, from the welcoming snack and the hot freshly baked bread to the desert and coffee in the lounge with petit fours. We had the Wednesday supper club deal so the bill only came to £110 with a bottle of wine, this is fantastic value, we always treat going here as special, but at these prices should go more often, I am spending more than this in pubs. Very much looking forward to our next visit.

Top quality food in an ideallyic location. The tasting menu was fantastic. Bring the golf clubs.

We chose the Taster menu, which was well balanced, had an array of subtle tasting/ delicate courses. Although there is no set wine pairing for the courses, we were well advised on wines, sold by the glass, to accompany the dishes. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Food was absolutely stunning and the scenery was beautiful to look at whilst having dinner. Couldn’t recommend anymore!

The staff were all really well trained and professional in accommodating everyone and making people feel comfortable. I was so impressed by how kind and understanding they were! I could tell their manager really paid attention to training each staff. The food was lovely, some of the best salmon dish I've ever had. The ambience was perfect as well.

Excellent meal last night. Food was very very good. Staff were attentive and looked after my wife who had a dairy allergy very well. Really nice atmosphere in the restaurant with some music in the background which I enjoyed as I don’t particularly like restaurants where I feel I can hear other peoples conversations. Only small downside is they were low on beer which considering it was 7pm on Saturday was a little strange. Highly recommend and will be back.

We had a truly unforgettable experience, from start to finish we were greeted and served by incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The food was first class quality and we loved the added touches/compliments. As a vegetarian I was really pleased with how much flavour each meal packed and the range of options. My non-vegetarian partner was blown away by the freshness of ingredients and flavour of his meal too. The location feels incredibly special and the views of the grounds are just so relaxing. We will definitely be back to share this wonderful experience with friends and family.

I visited Auberge du Lac this afternoon for a friends birthday and it was perfect! The grounds are beautiful, the food is delicious with impeccable presentation, and the service was well beyond 5*. The whole afternoon felt like a holiday! Bilal is such a kind and amazing person and made our visit extra special. Thank you so much!

Me and my husband went to auberge du lac for the first time for my husband’s 50th birthday treat. We had the 7 course tasting menu with the wine flight. It was absolutely sensational and we can’t wait to return. Beautiful setting and very romantic french atmosphere. Excellent service. 10/10 form us! Food was off the dial here are some pic’s

We had Sunday lunch at Auberge du Lac and the food and hospitality was incredible! Stepping up to the building it seemed very low key, but as you walk in and go downstairs to the dining area, the dining room and outdoor area (where we had our meal) were really picturesque. Bilal was great as our host - friendly, welcoming, funny and great to chat to! The location was fantastic too - just over the river from the golf clubhouse, the quaint building which the restaurant was in offered great views back across to the golf club. The food was really well presented and tasted as good as it looked (it was a shame to ruin some of the dishes by sticking cutlery into it!) There was something for everyone too with a good mix of meat, pasta and other vegetarian options on the menu. A great experience! Well worth the price. Thanks again to Bilal and the team for being so welcoming and making our meal memorable.

Had a romantic meal with my wife on our anniversary. This old school fine dining restaurant is all about the customer, the food, the service and good value for money. Set beside the tranquil lake overlooked by the magnificent Brocket Hall, all one really needs is great food, service and pleasant interactions with all staff. We thought Auberge du Lac delivered very admirably and it had rather gone off our radar post Covid but not any more. We’ll be back soon in numbers I hope👍👍👍👍👍

Really enjoyed our meal there, and had a little walk around the grounds afterwards. We couldn't find fault with any of the dishes, and the complimentary dishes were also very good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, just a really pleasant experience altogether.

AMAZING! The food was superb, the view from the restaurant is stunning and the price is very reasonable. It's perfect for a special occasion! We will definitely be back many times!

If you want to have your Bridgerton moment, this is the place to go. Located in the old hunting lodge in Lord Brockett estate, Auberge du Lac is perfect for a special meal. We had the tasting menu and the food was well executed, good portion size. The staff were attentive. Highly recommend and would go again to try a la carte menu as I saw someone with a souffle for dessert!

What a surprise! I booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday, for a Sunday lunch. Needless to say we had a fantastic time. The staff was welcoming and the location amazing (what a view the lake). We got seated and had great food and wine. We had trout and crab as starter and the roast beef for main; we finished with the gingerbread sandwich and an hazelnut polenta cake as dessert, all incredibly tasty. We had a coffee to finish, perfectly made for my Italian palate. They brought us a happy birthday pair of chocolates for my wife's birthday, with a candle: much appreciated. After lunch we went for a walk, beautiful scenery. I'll definitely plan some tee time up there. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for a celebration or just a great meal.

Lovely weather, so an outside table overlooking the lake with abundant geese and swans was already a great hors d'oeuvre. This was one of their Thursday lunches @ £39 plus drinks. This included free amuse-bouche followed by our three course selection. High quality food. Immaculate presentation. Charming waiters and staff. No time pressures. Totally relaxed lunch deep into the afternoon. Magnificent views. All very country and regal. Which is how we all felt. Thoroughly spoilt and replete. A rare and decadent location. Hidden away on the Brocket Estate in the most peaceful situation. Recently awarded 2 AA rosettes and clearly on course for more awards and accolades. The same £39 menu is also available for evening bookings arriving before 6:45. Same great value indoors or out! Brilliant.

Updating my review following a perfect lunch this weekend. It has reopened as good as ever. Scot and the team deliver the same friendly, enthusiastic, expert service. And the food matched the service in quality. £39 set lunch on certain days is brilliant value. 2018: Cracking dinner with superb food and lovely service

This is an exquisite restaurant set in wonderful grounds. The quality of the food was exceptional. The service is attentive but not fussy. Food choices had us mulling for a while as so many menu items looked great. After tasting the complimentary hor d'eauves (see pic), We tried scallops, ricotta beet tartlette, lamb, and the most amazing raspberry souffle. While expensive, it was worth every penny. Highly recommend!

The spring menu is fabulous and as always the service and food is 10/10.i booked our table late today as we did not prepare for dinner at home. So decided today was the start of a week long birthday celebration for Hugh and it did not disappoint. Booked to go 2nd May with friends.xx

We were 4 adults, one toddler and one tiny baby for Sunday lunch. Fantastic service and delicious food - we had the Sunday set menu, which also included an amuse bouche, some delicious bread and coffee and petit fours. The staff were so lovely with our toddler. She isn't big enough to eat the children's menu yet but they gave us an extra amuse bouche and some ice cream for her, and didn't have an issue with her eating food I'd brought in. They don't have a changing table, but they had a function room where we could change her. They did have a high chair. Would 100% recommend if you're splashing out on a meal - much better Sunday roast than you'd find at many places. Easy parking too :)

This is our first visit since Auberge Du Lac reopened and we weren't disappointed ! Pre lunch drinks on the terrace and lunch inside . The staff strike the right balance of attentiveness and are friendly and informative . Every course we chose was incredible and beautifully presented . It’s a relaxed but efficient experience overlooking the most beautiful lake and grounds of Brocket Hall. On the way back to our car we spoke with the assistant manager who was incredibly kind . We shall be returning soon. Well done to the chef and team - a fabulous place to celebrate our anniversary.

Often places nowadays rely on a reputation earned in often years gone by to attract custom, and then disappoint. I am delighted to say OUR experience was nothing less than OUTSTANDING. From Amy's organisation of our event, to the superb attentive service of the entire team. The superb food and refreshments, all created a day to truly remember. And, it would be rude not to mention the excellent orchestration by Marc whose attention to detail was amazing. From the moment we entered until he became our group photographer in the car park. BRAVO! to all, and thank you for making our day.

Fantastic food and service in a beautiful location Brocket Hall is a beautiful place, we arrived early and walked around The grounds, we then took drinks on the Terrace. We were treated to free canapés and had a fantastic meal from the A La Carte menu, but could also have chosen a 7 course taster menu. The service was impeccable and I would advise you to have the raspberry souffle which was unbelievable. We were also treated to free petit fours. Go on treat yourself. Chris & Jan

Wow! We went here today for the set Sunday lunch menu. We were blown away by the food, service and ambience. Can't recommend this place enough, we personally preffered it to other similar establishments in the area. We will be back to try the lunch set menu and hopefully the taster menu soon. Honestly the best roast beef I have ever tasted. You won't be disappointed if you give this place a try.

Visited for a birthday meal in the family, had the set Sunday 3-course lunch, which was great! A good variety of options and lovely food. Staff and waiters very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They also didn’t keep pestering the table like some restaurants do, which was very nice - a great balance of attentiveness and distance. As expected, an excellent location and atmosphere inside. Lovely fresh ingredients used from onsite gardens etc. Food and portion size probably not quite worth the price you pay, but there are lots of nice little additions and extras to the meal (amuse-bouche, desert sweets etc) and you ultimately pay that little extra for the great service and location. Free parking onsite too.

Exceptional food of Michelin star quality. The service was friendly and relaxed and the timing of each course flowed well. The infusion of flavours was excellent and not overly complicated. Congratulations to Head Chef John Barber and Front of House Manager Scott Foster and their teams for delivering a beautiful dining experience.

Wow. Last visited 2020 , and it after it suffered a corona meltdown… It’s back with punch and enthusiasm. Portions generous for standard of cuisine. Excellent appetisers. Brilliantly prepared and executed menu. Excellent wine list and our chosen champagne was super. Well done.

What a lovely evening as usual. They really are working towards a very warm and welcoming place to meet and eat. Aperitifs on the river terrace is a must Lovely watching Bilal working so hard helping the younger staff. George was great, very informative and charming. Good for them when recruiting is so difficult these days in the entertainment industry Amy at front of house is superb As for the food, say no more Looking forward to returning very soon Warm Regards Nigel & Karen Bass

Superbly cooked and presented lunch for 4, with friendly service. We were impressed and happy! It was a pleasure to meet and chat with the Head Chef, John and we wish him well. Good to support locally and absolutely worth coming and experiencing! 👍🏻

A fine dining restaurant in a lovely old building with beautiful views overlooking a lake. Food quality and presentation is excellent; probably the best in the area. Service now is friendly but a lot more relaxed than it was many years ago. Despite the lovely views, the decor in the restaurant feels really outdated. And the choice of 80s pop background music is quite bizarre. The lounge area, however, is much more stylish and great for a pre-dinner drink. Drinks outside on a warm summer evening are also a pleasurable experience.

V

Really pretty place with the terrace right by the river. Food is very good, tasty and we'll presented with some interesting flavour combinations such as melon anise sorbet. The Head Chef came out to deliver the amuse bouche personally and spent time talking to us about produce which was a lovely touch. The only reason I have marked it down is the toilets are upstairs so it wasn't as accessible as it could be. However, the staff happily drove the golf buggy round to the front entrance where the loos are on the same level (the Terrace and Restaurant are a level down) and then it's a short distance to the toilets. They were also happy to drive the golf buggy to the car park to deliver less mobile guests such as my mother-in-law so service was also excellent.

N
Nick Alford

Went on a Saturday night for the first time. Food was as always excellent. Service sadly was some way off it’s normal level. Think they may have been short of staff but lots of the usual small things that make it a great place to eat were missing. Will stick to going in the week. Also the tip machine which I like because it is separate and goes to all staff both front and back of house has a cheeky little 7% service charge once it hits your bank. Cash will avoid that.

K
Kamila Sobczak

Very posh place in a beautiful setting. The restaurant is overlooking a lake and serves "boutique food" as I call it. It would make a good choice if you're looking for a sophisticated meal. No vegetarian options on the menu and portions are tiny as you'd expect for this type of a restaurant. Expensive. We didn't however liked it too much because it was too fancy, very noisy and lacking of atmosphere. Crab starter and chocolate dessert were delicious tho! Pictures below are of two mains: beef rib and cod.

This restaurant boasts a beautiful location set inside a private gated entrance. The staff here are incredibly friendly from the moment you walk in. The service can not be faulted - not rushed and well paced between dishes. Good wine menu! The food, on the other hand, whilst beautifully presented, didn't quite deliver on flavour. Lots of fancy tricks and skills on display, but somehow, the food was just missing the mark on taste. Portion sizes are a little small (expected in fine dining), but this isn't the fine dining you come to expect from fine french cuisine. As a result, we felt the prices were a little ambitious for the food. The main beef dish at £32.00 for two small pieces of beef (chewy, not tender) was a little excessive. We've had better for cheaper in well established Michelin Star restaurants. Auberge Du Lac has so much potential of which I'm sure it will tap into soon! Keep up the good work 👏

Everything was really good as expected all except we sat there early January freezing cold. I mean to the point you out couldn't even think of anything else. Not what you should expect even in January as that shouldn't make any difference. Service was excellent and the maitre d looked after my 90 year old mum and made a fuss of her. The Chef was trying some new things so interesting to be asked about them. The night will always be remembered for the wrong thing though. Go in spring or something. Oh and access to the dining is down steep narrow stairs and the toilets are where you come in. Not a great idea to take a 90 year old that uses a frame. Oops.....

The absolutely beautiful building and setting really gives a wonderful first impression.. However upon entry it was quite clear that the Interior Design really needed an update/uplift/some love (I'm available). I didn't notice a pre meal bar as we were led straight down the old stairs to the restaurant which immediately looks super dated. No cosy fixed seating, sensitive lighting, luxurious furniture or anything sumptuous for that matter. It felt a bit stuffy and pretentious which thankfully eased as the afternoon progressed and the Guests changed. Contrastingly, the staff service throughout was exceptional, warm, welcoming, obviously well trained... The main event...the food very hit and miss. The main negative being that my wives' meal arrived luke warm... so she sat through the whole main watching us eat then we did the same afterwards. Not good enough at the prices being paid i'm afraid, very very disappointing. In terms of the food quality, the canapes, focaccia and starters were all delicious and well presented. The roast pork belly was sadly, underwhelming. The potatoes and Colliflower cheese aside, it lacked flavour, heat and finesse. The pork belly was so fatty it had barely any meat texture. Soggy pre made Yorkshires, thin tasteless gravy and watery veg though nicely presented were just poor.. Being a Northerner, bad gravy is unforgiveable! The caramel tart desert was back up to a high standard to finish the meal well though my wives chocolate cake was dry and pretty much like a generic birthday cake in flavour. My daughters fixed children meal displayed so little finesse and cooking skill it could have been any pub, anywhere... just here at more than double the price. This place has amazing 'bones' and potential but smacks as 'set ones way' and complacency. Sorry to say with the abundance of local options, we are unlikely to return :o(
