Best BBQ place in the area, will not disappoint! Great roadside treat, plenty of parking and seating! Bring your appetite! Too bad they close for winter.
I will always love big kevs. The bbq here is one of the best I have ever had, the ribs are perfectly seasoned and have the perfect amount of sweet and savory flavors. Everytime I go to big kevs I am pleased, there is nothing I want more after a long day then this. The only problem I can find and I mean only is that there is limited seating, but whose needs that when the food is so good. Honestly amazing food and some of the best bbq I have ever eaten.
We just tried Big Kev's. The ribs, pulled pork and brisket are very good. All the meats are very tasty, juicy and fall off the bone. The coleslaw is not traditional, but good. The Mac and cheese was OK. The cornbread was really good! It was moist, didnt crumble easily and it was also tasty. I want to clarify that this is not a restaurant. It is a food truck with some picnic tables outside. So I don't understand the reviews that talk about a restaurant. This is not a place for the handicap. If you want to sit outdoors, you need a wheelchair. My husband uses a rollinator so we had to eat in the car. The truck is on gravel, so walking with an impediment is difficult. The staff was very friendly. They explained sizes of sides and a few questions about food. They did it with a smile and were helpful. For what the place actually is, I gave it 5 stars. Food is really good and it's not an over an hour drive if you live in rural NJ, PA or NY. They have bathrooms, but I didn't check them out. If you go after dark, please note that there's no lighting in the parking lot.
This place makes everything perfect super fast service as well. We stopped there to get a bite to eat to our surprise it was the best barbecue spot we ever bin to amen. brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork , chicken , ribs, tried them all . Good portions and good prices. Planning our next 3 hr drive to get There.
Came here with my wife and few friends after the 10k spartan race. What a treat it was, especially after the race. I would HIGHLY recommend their ribs and pulled pork. My mouth is watering just thinking about this. Oh yeah - had the pleasure to meet the Big Kev's son. Really cool guy 😎
So we had ordered the sausage, burnt ends, and 2 samplers(pulled pork/brisket/2 ribs). The burnt ends surprising not bad felt had a chicharon texture that was just placed into a soup. So still a crunch but soft enough where the crunch doesn't hurt the mouth. A little sweet from the BBQ glaze bit overall rank 4 out of the things we had. The pulled pork was a little dry and a little on the sweet end needing the supplement of BBQ sauce that had to be requested so 5th. The ribs were on the lean end light but also needing the extra BBQ sauce to support it so 6th. We had two distinct pieces of brisket, one where it only had lean meat and we really needed to stab with our fork to pick it up, very dry and very chewy ranked 7th. The brisket with some face rendered on it was pretty good the bark gave it a nice flavor with it being fall apart to the touch of our plastic forks, will say BBQ elevated the taste rather than needing it ranked 3rd. And by golly the sausage was fantastic, the skin was bouncy and crisp on the bite, the cheese inside spurted and oozed from every bite, very well seasoned with a bit of heat from the jalapeño. Bite was so good, I found myself closing my eyes immersing in the harmony of flavors. Will say though when we ordered it was nice and hot, if it was cooler it may have come off too creamy and greasy. So it deserves rank 1. Sausage so good we had to get a second one after finishing our plates to reconfirm. It deserves praise
PLACE IS GREAT , FOOD , SERVICE , PRICE AND ATMOSPHERE *****, simple , nice portion , chili was awesome , seating area , drinks available, neighbor selling food that they grow as well. Simple with nature , cant ask for a better and calmer way to chill with family , friends or date. Nice place cheers
Got the sampler platter. Everything was delicious, brisket was moist, same thing with the pulled pork flavorful. The ribs were absolutely delicious. The corn was just corn. Lol The mac and cheese was delicious. Potato salad wasn't anything great, wasn't horrible but wasn't mind blowing. I would definitely come back again.
We were so excited to be there for opening season of 2023!!! It had been about 3 years since we’ve been due to Covid, and just not traveling upstate. So to say we were excited was an understatement. The food is still killer! We got ribs and a whole chicken since so much was already sold out!! Haha but that’s to be expected on a Saturday afternoon! The ribs were delicious and perfectly smoked. We got original sauce and spicy bbq on the side. The whole chicken is perfection. We keep it for the week for some quick lunches or what not. It’s also fair priced. 12$ for an entire chicken. Definitely excited to come through again and get some other favorites. Also their homemade lemonade is lit lit 🔥 so good 3$ and not to sweet not to sour! See you soon big kevs!
Wow. A big part of my trip to PA was the excitement for East Coast BBQ, and Big Kev’s more than satisfied my craving. I tried almost everything - from pulled pork to ribs to brisket, mac and cheese, smoked corn, cornbread… every single thing is great, with the pork lacking in flavour initially but that’s what you get a couple extra sauces for, however: the brisket, and especially the burnt ends if available, are the showstoppers. Absolutely delicious and utterly satisfying in both flavour and consistency, these items are a must get when you’re there. I never had better. They accept cash and card, hand out as many sauces and utensils as desired, offer on-site seating and friendly faces and quick service to boot. This is a five star BBQ spot if I’ve ever seen one.
Big Keys BBQ has some serious flavor potential. Their BBQ sauce is incredible — a perfect mix of traditional and Carolina-style. It looks like a classic tomato-based sauce, but you can really taste the mustard and vinegar that give it a tangy, flavorful kick. Easily the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry, which was disappointing. It lacked the tenderness and juiciness that you expect from well-done BBQ. There are picnic tables outside, which work great on a nice day, but it would be helpful to have indoor seating— especially in bad weather. Right now, there's a side-by-side UTV being used for storage inside, and while it adds to the rustic vibe, replacing that space with functional tables would be more useful for guests. Overall, the staff was friendly, and there’s definitely something special in the sauce. With a few improvements, Big Keys could really stand out on the local BBQ scene.
Excellent smoked wings! Very fair pricing. Coleslaw was nice, cool and refreshing with an almost horseradish bite. Cornbread was great! And dipped in the sweet barbecue sauce made a fantastic side! The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the "burnt ends" these were imitation burnt ends made from what seemed like deep fried fat. There was no real meat at all and to be fair the sign did say rendered fat, sauced, etc. But I decided to try them. Them hoping for a genuine burnt ends experience but was let down in this one aspect. Real burnt ends come from the fatty point of the brisket and have a bit of fat and a bit of meat and are usually only available in the mornings and a bit limited because you only get one or two orders from each brisket that's cooked. The crispiness comes from being put back in the smoker and cooked a second time or cooked for longer, not usually from deep frying. This seems like something that was added to the menu to be able to offer burnt ends all day long by just using deep fried fat trimmings. I would avoid ordering this again.
Definitely the best BBQ I've had in New York. The brisket and ribs were cooked to perfection, and the mac and cheese was great as well. The real star of the show for me was actually the homemade BBQ sauce. I tried the spicy and sweet sauces, the first having a pleasant flavor of cumin and peppers with a hint of vinegar which compliment the ribs, the second having a hearty kick of bourbon which paired well with the slightly bitter but juicy brisket. The portions were also reasonable for the cost. I found the pulled pork inedible, both taste and texture were unpleasant to me. I think it was just pulled apart and on the heat too long after. I would definitely go again, I would probably just not do the pulled pork again.
