¡Ayy Chihuahua!

What a gem! I stopped by Ay Chiuwawa in Astoria and was blown away. The place is super clean, the vibe is welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in. I ordered the birria tacos and they were absolutely amazing — packed with flavor, cheesy, juicy, and just the right amount of heat. You can tell they put care into their food. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area and craving delicious Mexican food. I’ll definitely be back!

tonight was my first time coming to Ayy Chihuahua and I will definitely be coming back! i have absolutely nothing bad to say about this restaurant. the service was excellent, the food was amazing, and the overall vibe is great too. we ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, the chicken soup, and the chicken fajitas. everything was delicious! i also recommend the classic margarita, but they have other good flavors too. our server was so attentive and kind. he even packed up our leftovers for us. i will 100% be eating here again!

I’m not one to write reviews unless I’m absolutely in love with the place. This is one of those places where you can meet great staff, have a better atmosphere and even better food. If you like Hispanic culture or food, then look no more! I highly recommend this place for a date or a hangout with friends and family. They also have a rentable basement for events downstairs. It’s perfect for those birthdays with loved ones. Has its own bar and at a great price!!

It was a great evening celebrating my mom's birthday. The appetizers, entree, and dessert were great. The service was attentive, friendly and informative. The only thing I would change is that all the entrees should be served with the sides of rice and beans.

A very welcome addition to the Ditmars strip — the food is delicious and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The guac is top-notch, the soups taste like homemade, the enchiladas and fajitas are fantastic, and everything on the brunch menu is phenomenal… Birria Egg & Cheese sandwich.. you’re welcome. Best grilled octopus I’ve ever had, anywhere. Celiac/GF heads up, the tortilla chips are fried in the same oil as the breaded items.

We had my birthday dinner here, and it was a wonderful experience. The dishes recommended by the waiter were all delicious, and the mango and coconut mojito was excellent. The restaurant was nearly full, which was a clear indication of its great service and food quality. The waiters surprised me by bringing a cake with a sparkler and celebrating my birthday with us. Overall, we had a fantastic time here.

Been here 2 times on Saturday. Their brunch is until 4pm, 30$ for an entree, a cocktail and coffee and tea, great deal! I chose the steak and eggs and believe me, one of the best dishes in Queens! Their margaritas are delicious as well, highly recommend the Hibiscus one! Me and my bros got chicken nachos as well, very delicious! Best Mexican restaurant in Astoria and the atmosphere is amazing as well!

The best Mexican Spot on Ditmars! I came here with my partner twice- one time for dinner and another time for brunch. We absolutely loved everything about it! Everyone was so welcoming and the drinks were delicious! The place is spacious and beautiful. I love how happy hour is Monday- Friday from 12-7pm. It works out perfectly with our schedule. The food for dinner and brunch was also amazing. We had the queso fundido, chicken fajitas and chile relleno. If you love a little bit of spicy (you'll really love the Chile Relleno) and it's a vegetarian option too!  We are excited to come back soon!

This place is so underrated! Incredible service and a beautiful atmosphere. They make the guac right in the center of the dining room. The portions are perfect and you'll walk away feeling perfectly full. We've been needing a good Mexican spot in the area for a while!

Food were amazing! Hot and Freshly made! Loved the cocktails (TQM and Frozen Margarita). Service was fast! Had a great Cinco de Mayo lunch!

My friends and I had dinner and happy hour drinks for the first time. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere and the food was amazing. The drinks were delicious and great prices for happy hour!!! Dulce de leche was omg so delicious I can’t say enough!!!

I love this place! The staff is great and attentive! The food and drinks are also amazing! The shrimp tacos are my go-to and the coconut margarita as well! I love how they decorated to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos!

The bartender was amazing !!!! So funny 😆 had a great time by the bar ! Also the food didn’t disappoint!!! Would definitely come back !!!!

Ayy Chihuahua is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is incredible, the service is next to none, and the churros are absolutely unreal. Do yourself a favor - stop scrolling and just come here. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped in on a Thursday night for dinner and a drink. Margaritas were good. Fresh lime juice used and well balanced. The chips and guacamole were fresh and tasty. Also had the green mole chicken enchiladas they were served with a side of rice and beans. Great Mexican food we will be back

I was craving a “sopa de tortilla” and found it here! It was delicious. It hit the spot 100%! I also had the chicken enchiladas in tomatillo sauce. Yummy! Service was excellent, the atmosphere is elegant and the restaurant is super clean!

We had Victor as a bartender and he made our entire night. He was so nice and knowledgeable about the menu. He made the best Mojito I have her had and brought great energy! The nachos and fajitas were just fabulous and we saw a few other dishes come out that looked great too. They said everything was homemade and it was so great. They also have a great brunch option. Atmosphere is great and it is a great size as well. My mom and I split an app and meal and were full so the portions are great as well. When the Fajitas came you are hot with the best smell and the taste was ever better. 10/10 would recommend and will be back soon!

Amazing cocktails & very good food! Josue at the bar recommended the best drinks and tacos for us (cod) plus was very attentive and made sure we always had drinks coming as soon as we took our last sip! Thank you Josue! Best customer service.

We had an After Funeral Dinner at this restaurant and they provided us an amazing experience under the circumstances. Oscar oversees the dining room and he was an absolute professional at keeping everything running well. Our waiter was Alejandro and I couldn’t have asked for better! He handled our sensitive family members with care and he was happy to wait our tables as evidenced by his smile. He was a perfect gentleman. The foods were amazing. Soo fresh! The chips weren’t greasy and were fried to perfection. The salsa was fresh and very tasty. I had the skirt steak and it was So lean and the fried rice was an unexpected menu item for me but very tasty. My family said the shrimp were great and I Did taste the fajitas and they weren’t greasy at all. Rather beautiful I’d say. I definitely will return here as the foods were all matched

ThIs place is amazing, big bright and the best service anywhere . super friendly and welcoming, they’re happy you are here. there’s a great list of cocktails and they’re all delicious. Don’t forget the guacamole.everything from the traditional Mexican food like fajitas and fish tacos are delicious, but a Bronzino was also top-notch and the corn really good. the soup is amazing. Just overall an excellent place to eat in the neighbourhood.

We came in last second late at night as a large group, they seated us no problem. The wine was great and the Birria tacos were phenomenal. Highly reccomend

The entraña is actually the best I’ve ever had! The service was amazing. Our server Carlos was so kind. Found my new favorite spot!!!

Decided to come here one day after work with a friend of mine the service is really good. The drinks are good. The food is good. I didn’t care too much for the Ají tuna tacos and the Elote should be perfected. my favorite was the steak shrimp fajita, guacamole rice and beans

Nice addition to the neighborhood. Not many Mexican options around. Service was good, and friendly. Food was presented well, and tasty. The beverages were good too. Will definitely be back.

Great space, location, and service! Food was decent but smaller portions than you’d expect for the price. We got the guac app and tacos for main. Will try it again and update review as we learn more!

This is a safe pick on Ditmars! Solid service and food. There’s never a long wait and everyone can find something they like. I’d recommend it mostly for groups

I felt rushed during my meal. I was asked several times if they could take my plate before I had finished, which was frustrating. The Mexican michelada wasn’t very good. The food is okay for the price, but the overall experience could have been better.

Definitely a frequent diner here — the food is consistently delicious! The margaritas are fantastic, and the Birria tacos are hands-down the best in the area. I especially want to highlight the bartender, Carlos — he's always polite, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. However, I’ve had a repeated negative experience with one particular server. He tends to be rude, inattentive, and often forgets orders. When asked politely for a reminder, he responds with eye rolls and visible frustration. Recently, I witnessed him treat another guest very poorly — she had to go to the bar to request a drink he kept forgetting, and his response was completely unprofessional: “The drink was drank, wasn’t it?” before tossing the check at her and sarcastically threatening to charge her for extra cheese next time. It was uncomfortable to watch and totally inappropriate. Aside from this one staff member, the rest of the team is great, and the food (aside from the beans, which I personally find unpleasant) keeps me coming back. I’ll continue to visit, but will stick to sitting at the bar to ensure a better experience.

4.7 rating seems too high. When Chipotle has better chips and trader joe has better salsa, not a great start. But the pulpo was good portion, properly cooked, sauce excellent. Bria tacos and shrimp fajitas were good but not exceptional. Likewise, service was good and nice decor but overall, felt food lacking in flavor and seasoning. Tres leches was highlight as moist and came in a homemade blackberry sauce. The litmus test is whether I would come back or not and, while close call, being "good" is just not enough. They need to up the flavor and seasoning. Until then, moving on the next cantina.

The service is excellent 👌. The fajitas are delicious 😋 . The fish tacos 🌮 were full of flour with a little piece of fish, and the shrimp tacos are made with frozen shrimps instead of fresh ones. Both tacos come with a little bit of cabbage & raddish. The tacos are not filling, and for the price you pay & the location, you would expect more quality and more food.

Ordered fajitas and the chicken tasted like it was marinated in soy sauce! Woke up the next morning and my friend and I both felt severely swollen like we were retaining water and I had a terrible migraine. They likely cook with MSG and bad oils. Food is not authentic by any means. Only positive was the waitstaff were beyond amazing and hospitable! The guac we ordered wasn’t made at the table unfortunately, but it was decent. The chips that came with it were more like pita chips? A little weird

I dine with a friend at the bar and we had nothing but bad service from the beginning. After we sat down we had to ask for menus. We order guacamole with chips which come promptly. Main course took about 45 min while other guests ordered after us and got theirs food first. The bartender kept forgetting our drinks so we had to ask multiple times for a drink. There was a broken glass on top of the beer dispensers for hours. So dangerous. The bartender was definitely drunk we saw him taking numerous shots with other guests Food was ok ambiance was great. I really hope they train their staff properly

The food was not all that great. The fried rice was horrible. The taste was not good and it was room temperature. The steak tacos were supposed to have caramelized onions. They might have had a slice or 2 of onion, also at room temperature. The taco Al Pastor was lacking flavor and was also at room temperature. In both tacos, the cilantro was still on the stem. This is a Mexican restaurant and when my food came to the table the server walked away and didn't ask if we wanted any type of sauce (mild or spicy). I had to ask for the sauces. Very disappointed and will not return.
