The Local 217 Albany Reviews
Even though it was a Saturday night it wasn’t busy and the service was exceptional. My whiskey quesadilla was excellent and the chicken capris sandwich was delicious. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You will be happy.
Got here early Saturday night. Very few people in with just the bartender as server. He was polite cordial, and accommodating. We sat in the back room next to the fireplace. I ordered 2 appetizers (chicken bacon ranch quesadilla, and tator tots) both were excellent. the cbr was actually on a garlic tortilla and was amazing. Wife had grilled chicken which was juicy and flavorful. Will recommend this place to everyone
Calling all Albany foodies! We’ve unearthed another gem that’s about to become your new favorite local haunt. Get ready to settle in and savor the flavor at The Local 217 Taproom & Kitchen (123 Main Street, Albany, NY From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in a chill, welcoming vibe. This isn’t just a taproom; it’s a sprawling escape with multiple inviting rooms and a stunning outdoor patio – perfect for any mood. The authentic decor truly brings that “back home” comfort. Today’s culinary adventure featured their Breaded Chicken Cutlet Sandwich 🥪, a masterpiece of crispy, succulent chicken, perfectly thick bacon, cheddar, fresh greens, roasted tomato, onion, and mayo, all nestled on a brioche bun. And those homemade potato chips 🫓? Absolutely divine. To wash it all down, the Peach Tea Mixed Drink 🍹 was a revelation. Made with Bulleit 10 Year Aged Bourbon, it offers a surprisingly smooth, strong kick that expertly balances the peach sweetness and a hint of citrus. Highly recommend! The experience was elevated by the exceptional service. Our bartender was a true star – knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely welcoming, even when we were capturing content. We absolutely love the spinach artichoke dip! It's amazing! 🍺🍷🥃🍸🍹 The Lady the works the bar is so very nice! She always makes us feel very welcome there!
Found this place walking around and so happy we didn't pass it by. The food is 10 star out of 5. We went back for dinner back to back nights there . (In town for an event) Staff both nights was really cool also. Drinks are good price and made to perfection.
Not from the area but a great out of the way spot. Came on a trivia night, which we didn't participate in but went in the back room to eat and wasn't disrupted. Service was quick and attentive. Great beer selection on tap and in cans. The food was fantastic. Garlic bread bun on their burger was a great addition and definitely spend for the fries upgrade they were great. Would definitely return if I'm staying in the area
I’m here almost every Thursday. I absolutely LOVE Bri. She’s efficient gives great service and never forgets what I drink. She holds the entire place down by herself. She’s a rock star!
Went to Local 217 with friends and sat on the patio outside. The waitress was great and so was the food. Great atmosphere!
We had the salmon burger and veggie quesadilla which were both excellent. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. This lunch was a welcomed break during our 7-hour drive home. Photo shows the salmon burger propped up, highlighting its generous patty. Highly recommended!
Relaxed atmosphere; friendly, attentive, but not overbearing service; good beer selection; great food - we've been looking for a regular place, and this instantly became our go-to.
One of my fave Albany spots. Great for a drink, hearty food and great people. Also comedy and trivia nights and live music!!!
Bartender was awesome. Even though we weren’t sitting at the bar, any time our drinks were empty he noticed and came by. Was very friendly as well. Food and drinks are good

Quiet early evening meal with a close friend. I had the Meatball sub special w/ marinara and a pesto mayo on great bread. My date had the cream of celery soup in the bread bowl. The soup was fabulous! prices are reasonable and our bartender/wait person was kind and attentive but unobtrusive. They were out of the zucchini fries but the reg fries were freshly cut and crispy.
Nice little bar with some decent beer in tap. The food is good and not super expensive. Cool place to chill with friends on a night out!

Great lil pub /bar. Bartender was amazing. Burger was very tasty and the curly fries were perfect. Would have given 5 stars if the burger was medium rare like I asked instead it was more medium. None the less it still was juicy and tasted great.
This place has become one of my fave local spots. I’ve had a potato craving through my pregnancy and this place hand cut French fries hits the spot every time. The sandwiches are bomb and the food is always fresh.
Food and service were absolutely fantastic. Laid back atmosphere. Always feel welcome.
