Famous Sichuan Albee Square Reviews
We were early for the dinner crowd, so it was pretty quiet, but great food! The twice cooked pork and the glass noodles with ground pork were delicious! They had heat to them, but it wasn't the kind that peels your mouth's inside. Very flavorful. Next time I'm in NYC, I will go back.
Excellent food. Chongqing chicken is great, ask for extra peppers though, they will make it mzungu style if you don't! Chili pork dumplings were also great, and their chili oil is very good. Food is fast, the lady is friendly enough, venue is comfortable. No frills, just tasty.
Fast service and such good food! We got beef noodle soup, their pork dumplings, Sichuan spicy cucumbers, and the stir stir fried spicy beef. Everything was amazing. The dumplings melt in your mouth, the beef had a nice crunch and crispiness to it, the beef noodle soup was amazing. Love this place!
Our favorite hole in the wall !! We can't get into the city and not stop by here!! We stumbled upon Famous Sichuan very randomly one day while walking around. We ll be going back all the time!! The food is soooop good that when you have finished your dish you will drink the rest of it!! Can't wait to go back ...slurp ...
The food was absolutely amazing!! The broiled whole fish in chili sauce was delicious. The spicy stir fry in the hot pot was also very good. And the service was great the people working there were very kind. I would recommend everyone come to this restaurant soon! Very good Szechuan food.
"After the 4th of July fireworks, it was late, and most Chinatown establishments were closed. Finding Famous Sichuan restaurant open was a relief! The late-night availability is a significant advantage, especially during holidays when options are limited. The food was delicious; everything ordered was enjoyable. However, the service was not pleasant. There was a long wait to be seated, and it took nearly half hour for someone to take the order. While the food and convenience were great, the slow service negatively impacted the overall experience."
The food is great - the order is quick. Second time going there with my husband. First visit ordered soup - was massive. And also ordered fried rice and the broiled beef. In the pictures below are The pork dumplings which are great - can tell they are freshly/home made. Lots of flavor. The broiled beef is also soooo good. We asked for spicy but it wasn’t very spicy. I think they were afraid to make it too spicy for my husband (😆) but he can handle spice better than me. I would totally recommend going there and trying the broiled beef and dumplings!
Well the food is alright; tried their orange chicken which has a pretty good flavor. What I’m worried about is how fresh the chicken is. Has a weird texture to it, and the meat also looked different. So I’m not entirely confident how fresh their food is. Soup came free, but I did not try it as it came with mushrooms which I hate. Surprisingly, I was the only one in the restaurant, and still took them about 20 mins just to take the order. The place being completely empty is a red flag. The lady was casually talking to some people while I sat at the next table for 20 mins for her to take the order. Extremely poor service.
Mapo tofu tasted good but it was not mala at all, was not what I wanted. Service is fine but they basically hide tip into your bill which is ???. Also the prices here are ridiculous for Chinese. Don't recommend
Reviews seem all over the place for this restaurant. Maybe I tried it on a bad day. It was late afternoon weekday, no one else in the restaurant. Old dirty dishes were left from previous customers on at least 2 of the tables. I waited a long time to order because the woman working was busy doing other things at the front. Ordered fried vegetable dumplings and Szechuan cucumbers, which I’ve had many other places in Chinatown and Flushing and elsewhere. Way overpriced here, my total came to over $36. I think there were 6 tiny dumplings with barely anything in them, and a gross sweet dipping sauce, not the delicious black vinegar sauce I’ve had elsewhere. The cucumbers had no Szechuan peppers at all, no flavor at all, just slightly oily with some sesame seeds. I asked for tea and had to ask twice. I waited awhile for it to steep but even then the water was barely yellow. Looked inside it looked like there were a couple of pieces of something in there, not a whole thing of tea. I had to stand up and interrupt the woman working to pay and leave. One bathroom seemed to be out of order because of packing tape stretched across the open door? Used the other bathroom that had unflushed piss sitting in the urinal. Maybe this place is open late so it tastes good and you ignore the prices when you’re drunk? Otherwise, I really can’t understand how this place has even 3 star reviews or has stayed in business. Gross/bland food, tiny portions, unclean, bad service, and way overpriced. Always walked by and wanted to try, and now I know!
Title: Scammy billing practices — beware Review: Food was just okay, but the real problem was the bill. They overcharged us by $9 compared to the menu, then claimed it was an “old menu” but couldn’t show a new one. Only refunded $5 and still added a bogus $3.31 “tech fee.” Totally dishonest. I have receipts — this felt like a scam. Plenty of honest businesses in Chinatown deserve your money more. Skip this place.
Worst lunch special ever! Avoid this place!!! The grade from health department is still pending. This place is such a mess!!! I regretted right away after the hot soup was served with a plastic spoon. The rice was not even warm. The lady was busy with her phone and the place was such a terrible mess!!! Can’t believe I chose such a place since I am in Chinatown where lots of good food can be found.
When I went to this restaurant to buy cooking utensils, I ordered shredded beef with small pepper, boiled beef (with hemp and spicy), and dry-fried bitter gourd. The small pepper beef shreds are not fresh, beef shreds taste hard. Boiled beef dish with beef horn pepper cubes, understood as spicy, beef taste hard, not spicy taste. Dry-stir-fried bitter gourd can be eaten. Overall comment: Everything is ripe! Give a star is the service attitude is good, do not give the star can not comment!
