really good, flavorful vegetarian ramen. i thought it was weird to charge for tofu on the vegetarian ramen, when non vegetarian ramens do not have to pay for their meat topping. but other than that it was so good!

i have known this place for years. they recently have changed the store interior style and it turned into a modern minimalism place. it could use some more decorations though to make it more vibrant and stylish. food wise! i liked the ramen here because of the hokkaido style broth and ramen noodles. after the new crews taking over the management, ramen even tastes better to me! i usually come here after work 10pm and just get a bowl of miso spicy ramen and enjoy it myself alone so much. i hope they continue making a great bowl of ramen like this. its hard to find a good ramen spot in brooklyn/ny… definitely gonna come back for trying others on the new menu!

All I can say is WOW! Went with a group of 3 and we all got different dishes for our main entree. Started out with a pitcher of Sapporo. For apps we got the kakuni and karaage. The pork kakuni was so soft it pulled apart easily. Karaage was cooked to perfection, so crispy and the chicken was juicy. For our entrees we got the spicy tan tan ramen, shoyu ramen, and sauce katsu bowl. The tan tan broth was so rich and creamy! Absolutely delicious. Shoyu ramen had a great flavor profile, but we preferred the tan tan broth. The ramen noodles had a great bite to them. Sauce katsu bowl was thoroughly enjoyed by my friend, said the meat was cooked perfectly, only comment was that there was a little too much rice. Service was friendly and quick. Venue looks different than what you see online, a little more muted. Only some small art hung of the walls all around. The menu we received was slightly different than what was online but we will definitely be coming back to try other dishes!

Hit the spot. Great broth on the spicy tan tan. Ikura and uni could be fresher. The pork bun was delicious, but could have added some veggies.

This place is shockingly humble. The staff here are from Japan and the effort they put in presenting their culture on the plate (or Ramen Bowl) shows. It's so unassuming, you would never know how good this place is if you don't walk in. Be patient. The vibe in here is super chill and it's probably amplified even more with all the laid back reggae music I experienced here. This appealed to both Caribbean origins and my love of Japan, it's cuisine and people. The staff here is small and they work hard, plus they appear popular both for dining in and takeouts, so expect a small wait. Ryujin is definitely more of a laid back experience and that's not a bad thing! I fond places like this so hard to find but I am happy this ope If you are Japanese you will appreciate this place. If you are a ramen lover, you will appreciate this place. If you don't know about Japanese soul food, you WILL appreciate this place. Get the Sapporo Miso - if you are a Ramen head, you already know, and even if you don't, get ready for some amazing sauce. 😍 All the ramen used here is from Japan which is an amazing feat all things considered. Truly happy I came here.

As a patent attorney from Japan visiting New York for work, I found myself yearning for authentic Japanese ramen. That led me to RYUJIN in Brooklyn. I'd heard from acquaintances that the taste had significantly improved under a new chef after the previous one had left. I ordered the Butter Miso Ramen and steak, and was truly impressed by its genuine Japanese miso ramen flavor. Furthermore, their gyoza was exquisite. I believe there's no other place in New York offering ramen of this quality. Definitely a spot I'd love to revisit.

I'm very picky about my ramen and the flavor so I was really pleased to try the lobster ramen. It was super delicious and spicy. I would definitely recommend trying it! They give you gloves and lobster crackers. I was skeptical of how the lobster would taste and be seasoned but it was amazing. I also tried the shrimp buns which were also really great.

Ryujin does not play when it comes down to the size of lobster served! 🦞As soon as we got our plates I was woe’d 😮 Served with yummy ramen and fries! They even had cute sushi cocktails 🍣 The location owner is very passionate and cared for every single person in the room. 🙏 I also Highly recommend trying all of their sakes 🙌 Super delicious!

This spot keeps things simple but delivers where it counts. The space itself is straightforward, minimalist with a few eye-catching art pieces that serve as great conversation starters. The food is solid, with a nice variety of options, and the service is great, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. One standout feature is the impressive selection of house-made sake, which adds a unique touch to the experience. While the overall ambiance leans on the plain side, the quality of the service and drinks make it a worthwhile visit.

Low key izakaya that is bright. The karage was 10/10. Okonomiyaki was way too saucey. Dumplings were good too. Fried tonkatsu was kind of dry and the mains (rice bowls, especially the roe) were very very salty. Tsukemen was lackluster.

this spot is great for a quick bowl of ramen! they seemed a bit understaffed (our waitress was definitely frazzled), but overall it’s a cute little spot with a fantastic sake selection and a solid bowl of ramen. I enjoyed their new spicy yuzu miso broth, and my partner loved the butter miso broth.

23.06.2018 I've been following Ryujin's insta feed for a while and couldn't resist trying them out as a Japanese Tapas spot. I was so glad when friends agreed to meet here on our first night in New York. Even though we had no clue where we were going or what the place was like, we set on our way. It's a small restaurant in Brooklyn, with alot of character. Simple yet interesting menu options. Sadly only 1 portion of the Golden Lobster Fries ( Which is what brought us here) so we ordered a few other dishes. We had to have some edamame beans, still love eating them and the Steamed Buns which smelled and tasted amazing. My friends ordered Ramen, and another meat dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wow everything was delicious. Great portion size. The sauce on my lobster was fantastic.... a few pieces of my lobster were not cooked properly but what i did eat was lovely. #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TFMRyujin #TFMTakesNewYork

This was alright. Neighborhood joint that specializes in ramen & other Japanese cuisine. Ordered the spicy miso ramen, garlic edamame, and agedashi. The ramen was decent. The pork was tasty & noodles too, but the broth was just alright. It felt like the miso wasn’t fully emulsified. Edamame was good. Salty & garlicky. Agedashi was okay. It had a slimy sauce to go along with it, which I thought was fine. Overall, it was just fine. I probably won’t be back. Nice service & place though.

Spot is super cute. service and sake were both really great, but unfortunately the food was a bit hit or miss. Ordered a couple of apps, the tsukemen, and katsu curry. Would be willing to go back to give them another try since the appetizers and sake were great though.

The food was AMAZING and I would definitely go back again but unfortunately I have to give this place three stars because there was a strand of hair in my ramen. Other than that though, the food was 10/10! Food: I ordered the Ryujin Samurai Ramen and it had that Japanese authenticity which is hard to find in many ramen shops in NYC. The soup was very rich in pork flavor and the noodles were perfect. They weren’t too soft or undercooked. The only downside was that the ramen didn’t come with slices of chashu as other shops usually do. Instead it came with ground pork and chashu has to be added on for two dollars extra. Another dish that stood out to me was the mini chashu bowl. The chashu pieces were very flavorful and you can really taste the smoke in the meat. The size of the bowl also made it perfect for an appetizer.

Definitely not going to be coming back to this place. I was surprised when I saw the good reviews and saw that it was dead inside when I came for dinner. The ramen broth was pretty bad, they give a small piece of meat, and the noodles weren’t even cooked properly. The only bright side was the wings that my party ordered as an appetizer. If you want some good ramen, go a little bit further into Brooklyn.

While I always enjoy the food from here a lot, I’ve now seen/experienced 3 instances of very rude service from one of the servers. Unfortunately it has always been towards people of color. Even though the customers were very polite & reasonable, the server gave really rude attitude back that I’ve never experienced in a restaurant before. Service jobs are difficult & deserve respect and yet customers also deserve respect, especially those who have been completely kind & courteous. He responded with totally unwarranted negativity. I can’t support a business that treats people like that. I really hope that person is able to grow in this regard.

Weird vibes here. Looks like someone put tables in a white rectangular room and called it a restaurant. Decor? No? Ok... Menus are laminated sheets with a ring binder. The whole thing just comes off as dirty and cheap. A whole bunch of the menu options you see in old reviews aren't available either. Based on the reviews it seems like something changed in the last year, not for the better.

I’ve been going here for years and it suddenly says that it is temporarily closed! I am very disappointed. I don’t know why it’s closed, there is nothing explaining why it is shut down. I would’ve liked to know what was happening. This was a beloved spot of mine that I recommend so many people. And went there almost every week spending over $150 for two people. Best ramen around! What is going on? Will they reopen? I’m praying

This place has gone very downhill ever since the chef has changed. I ordered a poke bowl and they have cut down their serving size in half and gave me way overcooked eggs with fish that was definitely not fresh. I dont recommend anyone order the poke bowls as the quality is abysmal for $30! I called to let them know about the issue and was told not to order it anymore if i dont like it. I was told the chef changed and so quality has diminished consequently. Its a shame. Ive attached the picture of what the poke bowl is like now compared to how it used to be.
