Taqueria La Barca Arcata Reviews
LOVED this place. We are from out of town (Florida) and came to visit the Redwoods. Was searching and searching for the right place to eat after a day of hiking out butts off (10 miles!) and stumbled upon this place nestled out of the way. Upon first entering we were greeted and told we could sit where wherever we wanted. Service was friendly and courteous. My husband and I love Spanish food, his spice tolerance is insane. The waitress offered us different salsas and they had more options on the table. He enjoyed the variety because most places rarely have actual hot hot sauces. We started with the bean dip, and that's where I fell in love. I love refried beans, and hate when a place falls short on their refried beans (usually too cold or too think) OMG they were delicious. The dip was 10/10, I wish I could order it back home. I ordered nachos for my entree, and my husband and ordered al pastor burrito, which were both delicious. One thing I want to comment on is the prices and the portion sizes. Coming from Florida to Cali, I was expecting high prices and the same portions. The prices were similar (honestly better here) and the portions were amazing, hands down I have never been served that much dip before in my life. Moral of the story is I would recommend them to everyone and totally come back. No wonder this place has a 4.5 rating.
Convenient location close to the park. They have the best salsa virde in humboldt county without a doubt.
Great local eatery that was a welcome change while traveling. The chili relleno was delicious. The fresh flour Tortillas were soft and yummy too. Small place and everything made fresh so have patience and relax.
Took the food to go... but these birria tacos were the best I've gotten from any restaurant. The al pastor were also very good!
I'm so glad they're back!!! In my humble opinion the best Mexican food in Humboldt. Authenticity, flavor, and service are excellent. Better than before the lockdown. If I could give them six stars I would.
Always great food and never left feeling hungry. Food is authentic and has a lot of flavor, can be spicy to people that are sensitive to food with heat.
Best mexican place ive found so far, I recommend the quesabirria tacos w/ consumme, very delicious! I get the salsa on the side since its a bit much for me. Also love their super burritos, great quality food
We passed by the taco truck several times and thought that it worth a try. Found out that they started as trucks before opening up as a brick and mortar. We went to the taco truck then ordered chicken and carne asada tacos. Guac was extra. The tacos are a smidge bigger than street tacos. We devoured it as soon as we got home.
Been in town for work and after a couple attempts at Mexican restaurants I finally found a good one. The staff is super nice here and take real good care of everybody. I've made it a weekly visit while I'm here for work and highly recommended for anybody visiting Arcata.
Awesome food and people! Great little Mexican food spot tucked away off Giuntoli. Our go to spot when I don't feel like cooking, or we are having a taco craving =) Kid friendly and they have a few tables outside. Fresh Jamaica (other drinks too)! So yummy!!!
Everything is good the food has good taste the Tulsa the drinks and also the people does very nice I recommend this place

Life changing!!!!! REAL Mexican food done right with the hospitality to match!!!! The Quesadilla Burris Tacos will blow you away.
I was visiting from out of town and was looking for some good Mexican food comparable to what I get in Southern California. Taqueria La Barca delivered! I got a carne asada burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. They were delicious. For 2 burritos here, I had to save some for lunch the next day. The beans were homemade and authentic, the carne asada and rice were delicious. All for a great price as well. I will be back when I visit next time!
I had a super wet steak burrito great size no. Like other places prices WER great and it was taco Tuesday witch my husband enjoyed) we are from the Bay Area for a job out here and will definitely recommend this place
Best Mexican food in Humboldt. Dare I say, best food in humboldt. Vibes are great, servers are friendly, food is fire.
The taco salsa is too spicy, but soooo good :D Great super carnitas burritos too
La Barca is fantastic. Delicious food. Friendly service. Good value. Best Al Pastor in Humboldt if you ask me. They also have a food truck in Eureka off of Myrtle.
Living in Sacramento this is some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. The tacos were excellent soft tacos, and crispy. The burrito was huge and the nachos were filled with meat. The service was top-notch. Served with chips and salsa aplenty and constant refills on drinks. Choice of three salsas, I went with green, salsa was fantastic. If I lived here, this would be my go to place. a great selection of sodas

Disappointed: used to be a regular… I’ll start off by saying I’m not usually one to complain online — I prefer to do so in person. However I almost always order to-go meaning by the time I get into my food, I am already home. I’ve been ordering the same thing (super veggie burrito ) since around 2018, and I’ve found it to be the best vegetarian burrito around. Post-pandemic I’d noticed some inconsistencies in filling amount, etc. and while it was irritating, I just tapered off my consumption for a while. The last few times I went it was *fantastic* — a nice big burrito that I could justify spending their newer raised prices on. Today was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had, and I cannot continue to buy their burritos or recommend them to my vegetarian friends. I called in our order, and they said it would be ready in 15. Great! We live about 7 minutes away, so we were there before the food was ready; no big deal at all! I don’t mind waiting. Burrito (and chimichanga for the husband) acquired and we were back at the house, digging into our food less than 10 minutes later. Immediately upon picking up my burrito I was complaining, “look at this thing” to my partner. I mean it maybe was the most deflated burrito I have ever had in my life. It sagged into my hand; had absolutely no integrity to it. Really annoying, but “okay,” I thought, “I’ll just stop going for a bit again.” But then I took a bite, and the burrito was… not warm. Like it was barely over room temperature. To me, that’s kinda the last straw. I could understand losing some heat within 10 minutes, but this was different. Popped it in the microwave and got it somewhat warm and then went to eat it — the burrito fell apart. Like I can wrap a better burrito than that and it doesn’t cost nearly as much. I’m really disappointed to say the least and I just can’t waste anymore of my money there (not in this economy!). According to my guy, the chimichanga was fantastic though! He almost never has any problems to maybe if you’re a meat eater, you’re in the clear!
The food was okay. Did not like the salsa they bring with the chips Overpriced for what you get. My taco salad had hardly any meat. My margarita was all ice, a dab salt on the rim. Not planning a return.
