Notable Astoria Reviews
An amazing establishment to visit if you’re craving something new! The wide variety of Jamaican style cuisine is to die for. The owner is super friendly, with a great attitude. Super knowledgeable on the dishes offered by the place. I highly recommend checking them out and giving them a try, you won’t regret it👍 P.S. get the oxtail empanada, the flavor profile is unreal.
OXTAIL EMPANADA!!! Fricking AWESOME!!! Meaty and worth all $6.00!!! I tried it yesterday and HAD to go back today. Needless to say, I'll be back a third time. Next time, I think I'll try the Oxtail Philly. This is a sweet little spot with just one table in front; a grab and go! t's worth grabbing!!!!!
I’d been meaning to try this place for SO long and I finally ordered for pickup one night (they are open late!). I was late getting there but the food was still piping hot. Prices are good and the service was super friendly. The curried goat empanada is transcendent—just writing that sentence made my mouth water. I have never been happier not to be vegetarian. Can’t wait to try more!
Notable, located in Astoria, Queens, is a hidden gem and standout deli celebrated for its inventive fusion of flavors, particularly its renowned Oxtail Philly Cheesesteak. This signature sandwich features tender, slow-cooked oxtail meat, meticulously deboned and combined with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted pepper jack cheese, all nestled within freshly baked Jamaican coco bread.
Definitely worth it! We wanted to get something to eat before going to Astoria Park and this is definitely the best! Friendly people, great food! We had the Philly Cheese Steak (on a Coco Bun), and the last of their Oxtail Empanada! (The Sauce was super good!) They also have Oxtail Quesadilla! But only on Thursdays 🥹 Really good vibes!
Ambiance (4/5): I loved the energy of the staff and the neighborhood regulars that were here. The staff and guests knew each other’s names and they’d joke around and catchup so it felt welcoming! The inside does not allow for dining nor does it have a public restroom for guests. It feels like a deli but smaller. Service (5/5): The walls are lined with an extensive menu. There was 2 cooks and a staff member at the register. There was 3 orders ahead of me and my empanada was ready within 5min! Food (Overall 5/5): The oxtail empanada was just under $7. It came out freshly cooked and the inside was stuffed with a good portion of seasoned oxtail that was a tiny bit spicy, juicy, and full of flavor! The mixture did not contain much fatty pieces. The empanada had a nice crunch, although I was hoping for a more doughy texture which it was not. Definitely plan on coming back to try their platters and jerk chicken.
Visited today with my partner. Everything was fresh. Highly recommend the oxtail Philly cheese, curry goat empanada and fresh lemonade.
Excellent spot for Jamaican food and deli. The staff is awesome, and they are open late during the week. Must try their Jamaican platters, specifically the oxtail or the oxtail sandwich on coco bread
The guys here are great and the food slaps! Loved every Jamaican-flavor sandwich we have had, especially the jerk chicken with pineapple!
The Oxtail Empanada was very good! The Jerk Chicken Empanada was pretty good as well. I’ve never tried Jamaican food before, so I also got the Bacon & Egg Platter just in case I didn’t like the empanadas (but I did). The Bacon & Egg Platter was not so good, but I did order close to closing time, so perhaps that is why. I won’t judge it too harshly because I don’t think it’s fair to expect it to look or taste the same way it does during breakfast time. Overall, I think the food is pretty good and I’ll try it again earlier in the day instead of close to closing time. I would definitely get the Oxtail Empanada again. And I think it’s great that there’s a restaurant serving Jamaican cuisine in Astoria because there really aren’t any other restaurants in the area serving this kind of food.
Love love love the food and costumer service. The young girl up front was so nice, welcoming and helpful! Definitely would go back
Nick & Julio are great and the $7 dollar breakfast with a coffee is my favorite. Been coming here since it was Father & Son.
My goodness where do I start. I know stomach joy. This is my second time ordering the oxtail, egg and cheese and bayBEE! First of all Notable is not stingy with the oxtail then to top it off the panini press cocoa bread is the ultimate touch. Now shoutout to the delivery service to curb the craving lol. It packs a nice kick with the peppers and I had a sorrel and it was chef kiss. Everytime I post the inquiries start and the advertisement on my behalf begins lol. This sandwich put me to work and is soooo good. Will be back sooon!
Credit where credit’s due: this place is fantastic. I placed a pretty big order for a work event through an outside delivery service, and when that service totally fumbled the ball, the owner of Notable stepped in. He went so far above and beyond to fix a problem that wasn’t even his to solve, I was genuinely blown away. I honestly can’t remember the last time I said that about a meal I ate while on the clock. Oh—and the food? Absolute fire, 10/10. To the owner- I’m sorry I didn’t get your name, but thank you for saving my lunch and potentially my job today.
This place is amazing. We got the oxtail Philly cheese and my silly self completely messed up the delivery address AND date (I ordered it at 3am because I saw it on tiktok). they were so unbelievably accommodating and understanding and the food was phenomenal!!!!! they take such good care of you here, everyone needs to try this spot out!
Honest Review: Oxtail on coconut bread is 10/10, quite pricey at 25 but hands down some of the best food ive ever had. The guy upfront is very nice and conversational and helps answer any q's and gives good advice for first timers like my friends. No seats tho so we usually eat at a nearby park.
Made a trip to Astoria to check this place out. Was sold on the idea of oxtail philly. It didn't disappoint. Walked up on cold NY day. Place wasn't too busy, watching some regulars stroll in and out picking up to go orders. "Notable", means no tables. One outside table we took advantage of because we wanted to enjoy the hot oxtail philly and some empanadas. I think it was Nick one of the owners took our order, really nice and hospitable. Made to order and worth the trip out there. Tender oxtail and flavorful perfectly balanced with the right amount of cheese. The empanadas were delicious and would order more, outer shell not oily at all. Little crunch when you bite into it and flavorful filling, served hot!
We came down at lunch time to try their Oxtail Philly Cheese on Coco Bread. The place is clean and neat and the people at the counter were super sweet and friendly. The food is delicious, the oxtail was cooked beautifully and tasted savory with some real spice that was unexpected but definitely welcomed. The coco bread is soft and sweet while the cheese just adds a saltiness that carries through an already amazing sandwich. It’s a bit pricey for the sandwiches but I felt it was worth it and didn’t mind at all. I wish they weren’t an hour away because I would come here daily. I’ll most certainly be back for another round.
If you like to video a cheese pull, the oxtail cheesesteak is your chance!(I had to eat before the camera myself) Went for the oxtail, but the empanadas stole the show! Everything was delicious, get the sandwich on the coco bread, and there is a cute Greek park down the block to eat since it’s for sure “good eats no seats”.
Delicious experience that will not disappoint! I tried the Oxtail sandwich (with my preference of a fried egg) along with homemade lemonade. I have never experienced anything like this before and will definitely be coming back and trying other menu items.
Oxtail empanadas are excellent- nice size and flavor!!! 3 for $15.
This place is GREAT! amazing food from Oxtail platters to classic nYC breakfast and lunch sandwiches with super delicious unique variations like an oxtail Philly cheese on cocoa bread! Just posting this is making me hungry!
More licentious mastication... Cary was so amazing! He made me feel like I was home. I had the hungry artist (not on the printed menu), ox tail Philly cheese. The food needs no explanation. Come hit up the local spot. If you don't know Now you know

That oxtail Philly on cocoa bread is TOP TIER! My boyfriend and I traveled from Boston to attend a concert and were starving afterwards. I did my research and noticed this place had 4.5 stars, so we decided to try it. They did not disappoint! We will definitely be back!

So I finally tried their staple sandwich, Jamaican Me Crazy, and it was excellent. Generous portion, even flavor thru the whole sandwich and the taste of sauce was unique. I got my on a hero and for the cost, two people can easily fill up with one hero sandwich . I would definitely go again and do recommend. Looking forward to trying the oxtail and jerk chicken platters.
I saw that one review from the person saying their oxtail was bad, but saw a plethora of positive reviews standing against it. I decided to give them a go and do NOT regret it! Lovely little spot for a late night meal! The cashier was very pleasant with a great attitude. I came by after finding my Airbnb and ordered 3 empanadas: Jerk Chicken, Salmon, & Oxtail. This is not a standard menu option, but she told me I could mix and match :) I loved it!!! WONDERFULLY tasty food and a perfect crisp to the empanadas - not too hard and not too soft/mushy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I work across the street, so I come here often. I like to order ahead on the app, super convenient and saves me time when i’m picking up food for break. Food is always great— try the empanadas. Nick + team are awesome.
I’ll be honest I’ve been coming here for quite a while and it took me a minute to make a review but one thing for sure. This is the best place to get coffee snack a meal dinner in between your job. It is the perfect balance with prices and quality Nicolas is an outstanding person. It makes you feel like your family and there’s no greater feeling than that. Please come to the best coffee shop in Astoria I promise you won’t go back to any other place.
Okay, let’s start with the food! I was disappointed to find out that they didn’t offer hot Jamaican food on the weekends. I was trying to get my rice and peas on this beautiful Sunday but nevertheless the lady at the front , tho seemed a bit down really offered me a variety of sandwiches that she recommends. I tried the Jamaica me crazy and it was really good . I really loved the coleslaw flavor! The customer service was 4/5. The lady at the front was really accommodating and patient. She talks so eloquently and she seems very intelligent and well trained! The customer before was giving her a hard time about not having something available on the menu so I know that came over in our interaction. Nevertheless the service and food was worth it , I will be returning!

I was really excited to try this given the popularity on social media behind this but the hype doesn’t justify the cost or even the taste truthfully. It’s good as it relates to an Oxtail Sand-which but do think there are probably many other obscure delis across Queens that could execute the sand-which to be more tasteful and justify the cost.
The empanada deals are great!! The oxtail empanada is perfect, deep fried yet not overcooked at all in the center. The curry chicken platter was a great plate to share. Getting a beef patty on the side was also a perfect addition. The service was fantastic, the woman behind the counter was such great help for newcomers. Wish there was space to sit, the food is so good when hot.
I’ve gotten takeout a few times. The jerk chicken sandwich is great. The egg sandwiches are good. The breakfast quesadillas are just kind of odd (especially the one with the ground beef). The patties I didn’t enjoy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m writing this review solely because of the amazing customer service I received from Jheanell at the front table. From the moment I walked in, she was extremely polite, attentive, and accurate with her recommendations. The first time I visited, she told me that most people usually go for the Oxtail Philly or the Jamaica Me Crazy, but she highly recommended I try the Jam-Rock Chop. I decided to get all three — and I have to say, the Jam-Rock Chop was absolutely delicious and ended up being my favorite. She also suggested I try the Oxtail Empanadas, and those were really good as well — flavorful, perfectly cooked, and definitely worth ordering again. I was so impressed with her service that I tried to tip her $20 personally, but she kindly insisted that I put it in the tip box so it could be shared among the entire staff. That says a lot about her character and how much she values teamwork. I also want to mention Marcel, the chef in the back — he was very polite, and you can tell he’s genuinely passionate about the food he prepares. The quality and flavor speak for themselves. Overall, this place left a great impression on me mainly because of the excellent service from Jheanell and the care shown by Marcel in the kitchen. Highly recommend!
I honestly keep coming back because of the female at the front — her service alone sets this place apart. From the moment you walk in, she makes you feel welcomed, remembered, and genuinely taken care of. Her customer service is not just good, it’s remarkable. She’s attentive, patient, and always on top of everything, even when it’s busy and chaotic, especially on the weekends. What really stands out to me is the authority and confidence she has. I’ve seen her communicate with the guys in the back when they’re playing around or not getting orders out quickly, and she handles it with professionalism and control. She doesn’t raise her voice or lose her composure — she commands respect naturally, and they listen. That alone tells me she already operates at a manager level. Honestly, upgrade her to manager already because she’s clearly running the front like a pro. On top of that, the food is consistently good. You can tell there’s care put into the orders, and everything comes out fresh and satisfying. When you pair good food with outstanding customer service, it makes the entire experience worth returning for again and again. Weekends can be hectic anywhere, but she manages the flow, keeps customers happy, and still finds time to be kind and personable. That kind of service is rare these days, and it makes a huge difference. This place is lucky to have her, and she’s the main reason I continue to choose this spot over others. Highly recommend — not just for the food, but for the top-tier customer service that makes you feel valued every time you walk in.

Not trying to leave them a bad review, here is my honest opinion: I paid $20 for a curry goat Jamaican rice platter. I received 4 little bites of curry goat the size of a dime and the rest was rice and uncooked plantains. The workers seemed overwhelmed which probably contributed to the poorly made platter. I think they are nice people but believe the workers could use some training so others don't leave the same or worse feedback.
Found a couple of bones in my empanadas. I was lucky to bite into the small bone first, which caused me to continue eating with caution and proactively detect the larger bone in a different empanada a few minutes later. The food tasted good otherwise but I couldn't fully enjoy it while worrying about chipping a tooth lol
I liked the empanadas they were really good, they were better when reheated the next day as well, I highly recommend the Curry host empanada, great flavour. The sauces they came with didn’t do much for me. I also tried the oxtail chopped cheese and it was alright, the red and green peppers could have been sautéed longer to bring out the flavour. The oxtail was very tender, however it wasn’t as flavourful as I expected. I’d rate it a 6.5/10. Definitely still worth the experience and a restaurant that is worth the visit for sure.
Small little restaurant in Astoria. It’s called No Table, not Notable. No table because they don’t have seating. I got the 3 empandas special- salmon & chicken. Asked for 2 salmon & 1 chicke & I Got 3 salmons. Not a fan of these. They were a bit burnt and not to my taste. I liked the crispy texture though. Although they were a bit oily.

I visited notable today. I paid $50 . I ordered a grilled turkey and cheese on a roll, turkey bacon and cheese on a wrap and the jerk chicken meal. I specifically asked for the turkey and cheese to be grilled. It came back cold. Mind you before I received it I reasked the cash twice did you write grilled she said yes. I saw the cook placing the cold cheese and turkey on the roll, so I asked her again did you tell them grilled she said yes.so I assumed that what I saw wasn’t my order. She tells me my order is ready I look in the bag at the turkey sandwich and feel it of course it’s cold. I tell her miss the sandwich is cold. She said do you want the roll toasted. I opened the sandwich up and the entire sandwich is cold nothing is hot. So I tell her miss the whole sandwich is cold. She throws is away with an attitude but trying not to have an attitude. I was uncomfortable. So I explained to her I’m sorry to bother you but I just want my sandwich how I’m paying to have it. I don’t want a cold sandwich. She brushes it off no apology and says I’ll have him make it over. The cook asks her what’s the problem she goes I don’t know she wants a warm sandwich. Mind you I’m right there. Call me crazy but there is a HUGE difference between a cold sandwich and a hot sandwich. A hot sandwich the cheese is melted the turkey is grilled. I just felt uncomfortable. I been here a few times the food is amazing. The owner is a sweet heart. I just feel he needs to hire ppl with experience and customer service. I should not feel uncomfortable and a fault because my order was incorrect after I said how I want it 3 times I didn’t ask prices. I’m not sure if he’s hiring family if so just train them. I don’t care if you charge me extra please just make it how I want without me feeling guilty or wrong cause you messed up my order. I will say once I received it how I requested it was delicious.

Service was okay 6/10 Food 4/10 Rice and peas were hard not flavorful The “salad” was bland and soggy And the jerk chicken was tough and very chewy. The reviews shows that this place is high in rating but today i had a below average Jamaican meal
So, I seen a short with this guy saying he was kicked out of this place. Supposedly because the food was so good and he was eating everything. The lovely ladies working there were really nice. There’s no seating 🪑 inside. 1. This food is overpriced for what you receive. 2. The food is NOT flavorful. 3. Empanada was dry bland and oily. (If it’s going to be oily ,at least let there be flavor)4. The jerk sauce is terrible. (Habanero sauce helped )5. The Philly cheese, NO flavor just spicy. All for a wooping $30.23. Everyone can NOT make Jamaican food. Cuts and Slices food is delicious. Wish I had a better experience to share. 🤷🏽♀️
Idk man, i keep trying this place and everytime it disappoints. The most recent time I just wanted to get some chicken tenders and fries. Total was $22 for chicken tenders, fries and a can of soda. Tenders and fries were soggy. Asked for honey mustard and was given the wrong sauce. Went back and politely asked for the right sauce just for the worker to curse under her breath at me. Got home and it looked liked honey mustard but ended up being something else. Never going back.
I got the Mac and cheese one time and it was great. The next time I got it, disgusting and inedible. The staff didn't take us seriously and tried to say that they always give you 1/3 of what we got the first time. It's covered completely in oil and disgusting. It was just really unprofessional. We ordered this because I'm in the hospital and wanted some comfort food. What a disappointment. The staff could not remake it for some reason even though it was only at 3:30 in the afternoon. Unprofessional.
