Popped into Cafe Joah the other day and I’m already a huge fan! This place might be small but it’s big on charm and even bigger on flavor. I tried the Jolly Pong Cereal Latte and it was a game changer, perfectly sweet with a nostalgic twist, definitely my new favorite! The Macadamia Mocha was another hit, rich and nutty, just how I like it. What I really appreciate is their selection of non-dairy milks, making it super easy to customize your drink. The cafe itself is super cute with a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for catching up with friends or chilling with a book. If you’re into exploring unique latte flavors, you’ve got to give Cafe Joah a try!

Came here this past Sunday! Loved the cute and aesthetic interior design :-). They have a cute mirror for cute pics w drinks or even w friends! It is small - but there’s a little entrance to a bigger space! Looks like it’s a speakeasy at night or cafe during day, bar during the night 😳. My friends loved their strawberry matcha drink~

Cafe Joah is a cute spot nestled inside east village, where you can grab a quick drink! The shop decor is cute and modern, and the shelf doubling as a door to their actual bar/restaurant was a cool idea. I visited during the day time though, so aside from the 2 seats by the window and a bench, seating was pretty limited. It’s still a cute space though! I got the strawberry matcha, and it was the perfect drink for a hot day. The matcha was nice and strong, and they actually whisk it in-store too. They also have some cookies and pastries for sale that they get from a local bakery that looked tasty too! All in all, I would pop by again! I want to try their specialty drinks, like the pandan latte and blueberry matcha. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area!

Super cute cafe with really cute drinks! It doesn’t really have any seating area but nice place to stop by to pickup a drink. The barista was super sweet! The drink I got was a bit sweet for my taste but overall good experience & I’d love to come back again :)

I’ve been meaning to try Café Joah for the longest time, and today I finally did! The experience was fantastic the coffee was excellent, and the warm hospitality from Ivy and Sydney made it even better.

Never been to East Village, I decided to take a stroll, and I stumbled across this cute little cafe shop and decided to give it a hit! As a big fan of cappuccino, I tried an iced cappuccino with oat milk, and honestly I was an awe. The barista took her time and precisely made it so perfect that it made my morning! Definitely worth the trip and will be back! 10/10 👍🏼

Got the jolly pong (like a cereal) latte & it was very tasty! The space is small but cute. If the weather is good, stopping here is a good excuse to drink and take a stroll in the parks nearby :)

coffee is life in NYC and it is paramount that you explore it to its fullest. if you enjoy dark roast coffees, try the Cafe Joah’s “bold as love” house blend—needs nothing added to it imo and has a nice rich flavor. there’s a full menu of familiar coffee drinks as well as signature ones too. Cafe Joah is a small place, few seats inside—clean, bright, and warm to the eyes. the staff is pleasant and chill. definitely worth a stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.

I absolutely love their coffee! My favorite around the area, really recommend it. Also, they have the cutest logo in the world.

There’s something about Cafe Joah that instantly slows you down. Maybe it’s the clean, minimalist interiors or the genuinely kind staff. Maybe it’s the coffee expertly brewed, never rushed. The matcha here deserves a mention too: earthy, creamy, and perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of spot you stumble into once and find yourself mentally bookmarking for every “me-time” moment that follows. Cafe Joah doesn’t shout for your attention it just quietly earns your loyalty.

This is for the evening/night speakeasy..... Behind an unsuspecting book shelf which actually doubles as the doorway sits a cool speakeasy/bar/restaurant in the back. It's a small space as most speakeasys are with tables and sofa for lounging and eats. Invited for a private event, it was actually very good. Friendly bar and wait staff, with good drinks and bar food. We opted for the wings and bao buns, which both hit the spot. Not sure of the hours, but by the time we left @10pm, the place was humming. Looking for an off the beaten path speakeasy/bar, with reasonable prices, think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I did not think much of it when I entered @cafejoah because the place is tiny with just a 2 people window seat. However, the coffee actually turned out to be pretty good! The muffin looking donut also looked plain in the display, but was actually yummy and went well with my latte! Definitely a good place to pick up coffee to go!

It’s a coffee spot with limited space around the area. Everything was good, about average. The taste of cappuccino was rich but the milk foam was not creamy enough. Would like to visit the bar starting from evening during weekends next time. Wondering if alcohol drinks are more impressive.

A cute Korean cafe with a speakeasy in the back. I stopped in for a drink as I had some time to kill before heading to a dinner nearby. The staff was kind and even offered me some free baked goods that they had left over as it was near closing time. What I got: - Strawberry Matcha w/ Soy Final thoughts: The space is small but very cute. There are only two bar seats if you are dining in at the cafe, but through the shelf of coffee beans, you'll find a speakeasy that offers zero alcohol cocktails and food. My strawberry matcha was super velvety smooth, but I did find that it got a bit bland after a while. I'd stop by if I'm in the area or come to try the speakeasy, but I don't think I'd go out of my way for this cafe.

i've been searching for a blueberry matcha in the city and was surprised to see Joah offered one on their seasonal menu. they place blended blueberries at the bottom, cover them with oat milk and pour a matcha shot on top. i appreciate that they don't use blueberry syrup. when mixed, it turns a beautiful acai color. it was unfortunately too tart, but that's out of their control - blueberries come in good and bad batches. however, there was not a lot of matcha in the drink, so it tasted like sour oat milk. if i could offer some feedback, i'd like a bigger matcha shot and less milk.

I’ve been to Café Joah in the East Village a couple of times because the space is beautiful and the drinks are generally good. However, I’ve had the same interaction twice now with one of the baristas — an Asian girl with dark hair — and unfortunately, both times she came across as quite unfriendly. Most recently, when I ordered an iced green tea, she didn’t greet me or ask for any preferences like milk, and instead just turned to her colleague to say, “I’ll go get you ice,” without acknowledging me. It might seem like a small thing, but consistent warmth and a simple smile make a big difference in hospitality. I hope this is taken as kind, constructive feedback — I’d love to see the service match the cozy atmosphere. It’s a café with great potential.

I love the drinks here but find their hours inconsistent. I visited with my friend at 9:30am today, Tuesday. All their posted hours say they open at 8am but it was still closed with no notifications on the store or on their social. Would love to come get coffee with friends but don’t want to waste my time coming here to find it closed.

Odd morning experience that I have had at Cafe Joah. I walk in and a very panicked young woman said she cannot take anymore orders because they did not have ice. I wanted a flat white, which as anyone who can attest to drinking coffee a flat white is a hot drink. She reluctantly made me a hot flat white, which I can add was $6 and the size of my thumb. So after the attitude and gross coffee I was left sad on Saturday AM, but luckily there are many other East Village coffee shops to choose from. If you are choosing between where you want to get your morning coffee, I would not go here.
