Local X Design Berkeley Reviews
Glad to see a new addition to Cal Dining! The food was decent, and the interior was clean. However, the price is quite steep for the amount of food they give you... The decent quality of the food was definitely not enough to justify the small amount nor the high price. Overall, might come every once in a while but would definitely go somewhere else for the same price range.
Overpriced, but honestly very good for Berkeley standards. Loved the salad bowl, the sauce was great. Chicken was high quality and root vegetables + pickled onions tasted amazing.

Chai latte is terrible - tastes like syrup. Prices are marked up for flex dollars users

Absolutely horrible experience. Super rude and disrespectful staff. I paid 6.50 bucks for a small latte and they only filled it up halfway and refused to fill up even more.
I got an expensive and "fresh" $12 "Sather Sandwich" here. It was not fresh by any means. It was ice cold, soggy and stale. The vegetables were flabby from freezer burn, the bread was spongy, wet and I now feel like I have a brick in my stomach. I should have trusted my instincts and not eaten it. I will make sure not to come back. The service was good, though. I returned the icy, soggy sandwich for a refund. It is regrettable also because there used to be a much better restaurant in there, where you could get a digestible and tasty hot steamed bun for $8 or so. The place also used to have a nice interior design, but they ruined that too with a giant, ugly pre-order lock box they placed on the marble counter.
Very rude staff. The food is thrown together haphazardly.
for the amout of food, the price is ridiculous high
Really wanted to love this place. Its was alright when it started. I mean it was expensive for what you got but the convenience was nice and the bowls weren’t bad. But the food has consistently gone downhill in quality and freshness since then while the size has shrunk. I stopped ordering meat last fall after two bad experiences with inedible chicken after they switched it up. For the bagels, the amount of cream cheese they put on a bagel is honestly offensive. I don’t understand why a place has to charge $6 for a bagel that sells for $3 down the road with a small amount of generic cream cheese. Some of the other choices are just weird - why do they refuse substitutions on the breakfast sandwiches? Why are the breakfast hours not aligned with any class hours in the building? I’m sure there are other factors at play but I don’t understand why it’s so hard to have reasonable food options on campus with the amount of traffic it gets.
