Sal & Carmine Pizza Broadway Reviews
I had the plain slice since the cheese here is vegetarian friendly. Service was great. Small place to eat in the back very nostalgic.
I’m so glad I took only one cheese slice ($4). It was huge! And heavy with all the cheese and salt. But man it was delicious. When I’m in NYC again, I’ll definitely re-visit this place.
It's a nice place with a great ambiance. Pizza is always fresh. I've never had a bad slice from there. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood with my friends, I go here. I have had many friends fall in love with the place. If you're looking for the classic New York slice, this is where to go.
Arguably, the best pizza in NYC, but not the most popular (or best service/production so theres some inconsistancy) so u have to make sure the slice is fresh (recently out of the oven, worth the wait) A tip: order a fresh pie for yourself...always fresh and u can pick your fave slice (more sauce vs cheese, welldone vs under). For NY Slice novices, never order the specialty slices on display, ie STALE Pizza. Bon Appetite :)
Classic NY slice. Perfect!! Large slice with correct amount of sauce and cheese. Great texture - foldable with no flop. Really loved it and will return.
Everytime i take a bite of this pizza I think to myself man I love being in New York City man. I just happened to stumble upon this place one time when I was lost in the city and I wanted a quick bite to eat. The place looked quaint enough uh nothing stood out nothing fancy just straight to business. The first bite you take is going to surprise you, the second one is going to convince you. Even once you're done and you get to the CRUST, you're not wasting that crust that's part of the greatness. If you took your time out today to read this I believe you're a pizza connoisseur try this pizza you'll either like it or love it and what else can you ask for from a New York SLICE.
5 star for authentic slice served on a paper plate in an old style shop. Fast service, perfect slice every time, both traditional pizza pie and the delicious square, thick crust slice (my favorite). Eat on the street or sit at the few small tables in the back and you will be joined by a few locals, kids with a caregiver, and guys on break. Please don’t ever close 🙏🏼
Sal and Carmine Pizza has the best pizza I have ever had. The aunts were fighting over the crust and they don’t even like crust! Even my grandma who has a very strict diet made an exception for this sublime pizza. Sal and Carmine is celebrating its 68th anniversary! If you like pizza, even if you have dietary restrictions, TRUST ME, you will love 🤩this pizza! Would HIGHLY recommend!
Sal and Carmine’s on the Upper West Side is a true gem for pizza lovers! I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was generously topped with a rich, flavorful sauce that perfectly complemented the savory toppings. The crust had just the right amount of crispiness—light and airy but still with that satisfying crunch. What makes this place even better are the fair prices, especially for the PIZZA SIZE you’re getting. If you’re in the neighborhood and craving an authentic New York slice, Sal and Carmine’s is definitely worth a visit! Also! The place boasts a huge interior space and a lot of seating too!
Sal & Carmine Pizza always hits the spot! To me, their pizza is underrated (which I don't mind because that means fewer people haha). Compared to all of the pizzerias in the neighborhood that sell *street pizza* they have the best. The sauce is a perfect balance of sweetness with savory. You can tell that they use fresh mozzarella. The crust is not too thick and not too thin either. If you want that crunch, ask them to heat your slice for a bit longer than usual. My bf and I always stop by to chat with the pizza maker and cashier. Both are great guys. We've never had a bad experience or a bad slice/pie. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by to get a slice. You won't regret it. P.S. They're selling icees for a dollar (2 big scoops) you can't beat that deal, especially with this heat.
Should be renamed Sal & Carmine’s Cheese Monster Pizza. A solid slice that delivers. I personally like the sauce and if you like a lot of cheese then you’ll probably rate this higher than I did. Overall - 8.0 Crust - really nice colour but taste is very plain Topping - so cheesy Sauce - nice and sweet Price - $4
The cheese is right, the crust is right, but the sauce is off. It is too tomato paste heavy, which leads to a tangier and sweeter sauce. If that’s your preference, this might be your spot, but for me it left a tangy taste in my mouth and wasn’t a balanced slice.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I came here. I had looked at this place online to find a nice spot to eat with a friend to celebrate something. I had seen a lot of high rated reviews, many saying how this was “a rather iconic place in the upper west side,” and had high expectations for this place, but didn’t have the best experience. The place felt rather small and crammed, with only a few places to sit. Besides that, the food didn’t look the most appetizing. It was alright, but I had expected better. I’d probably look somewhere else for good pizza.
Service is fine but the pizza has become trash. I moved up here about a month ago and I've tried three pies, two New York style and one margarite. I'm gonna include a picture of the margarita I just got. This thing is a joke. I ate two slices and you can see all the extra sauce that came off. Disgusting. And look at this cheese... It's so rubbery it didn't even melt into the sauce at all. Mad gross and it cost me over $30. Whatever this place did to earn it's reputation in the past, it's Nasty now. UPDATE: look how salty the owners are responding :''') His advice is just to make your own pizza, instead of buying his. We agree on this!
