Bahn Mi Place Brooklyn Reviews
Banh Mi Place has been a neighborhood mainstay for me for 8 years, and isn't going anywhere. Not only the best banh mi I've had in Brooklyn, but far and away the best value. A grilled pork banh mi + iced coffee from here on a summer day will cure your depression.
This is my go to Bahn Mi spot. The bread is light and crispy, the pork is juicy, and it’s priced very reasonably. Definitely recommend.
I was hesitant to order banh mi from this place since I’d tried so many spots and none could beat Lucy’s for a vegan/vegetarian option. But yesterday I walked by and decided to try their vegetarian chicken banh mi—really, really good. Generous portion, under $12. Honestly, I might not be going to Lucy’s anymore lol.
What a meal! After a bowl of my grilled pork pho, I was ready to go to bed! So filling and flavorful! The young lady that took my order was such a sweetheart! She was very attentive and welcoming. She really added to the restaurant's experience! My only con is a place like this deserves a bigger space, it's a small spot. Definitely will be back!
Delicious banh mi at a great price. I had the classic sandwich, and it was packed and tasty. I will say that the medium spice level was mild, so when they ask what spice level you want, I'd go a level up. Also had a tasty hot Vietnamese coffee - solid, but not mind-blowing. Three small tables and three stools with counter service make it toght in there. There is brisk pick-up and delivery business. It felt like there was a mini-army behind the counter, cranking out the sandwiches and drinks, but each and every person was nice and friendly!
🤤 the samwhiches were rlly Gud especially the seafood one, a lil sweetness and so juicy!! The chicken was great too since it kinda reminded me of how my chickens come out (not too juicy but not dry but could be juicier). Great place to go if you wanna grab a friend, snag a lunch and head to prospect park to sit down and chomp! Absolutely scarfed it down. Hope you like my photography skills ✌️🤠
Big selection, including vegan and gluten free, reasonably priced and pretty fast for made to order. Limited seating was fully utilized on Sunday dinner time. Great neighborhood place.
I am a native SF Bay Area woman with specific needs - and Banh Mi Place hits. Over the last 4+ years, I consistently enjoy the classic and braised beef as well as a grilled pork sparingly. Their summer rolls are filling and the peanut sauce is close to perfect. I don’t often order pho from here, however I will pick up a side of broth almost every time I order. Staff is attentive, communicative, and sweet.
Banh Mi Place is a quick walk from The Brooklyn Museum. It has a reasonably priced menu of a variety of Banh Mi's. The restaurant is very small. There are 3 stools to sit on if you decide to dine in. I had the shredded chicken Banh Mi; I got it to go. The ingredients were fresh with the vegetables having a bit of a bite to it. It was delicious. Would visit again if I was in the area.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the faux chicken Bahn Mi! This place has great portions, prices, and quality. It’s only a couple blocks walk from The Brooklyn Museum, so a great place to have lunch when you’re visiting. My daughter also had a pork platter, which got high marks from her. The Bun bowl was excellent, tasty spring rolls as well. I can’t wait to go back!
I had the tofu pho and vegetarian fish and let me tell you, it was delicious! You can taste all the flavors, the broth is delicious. The vegetarian fish flavor and texture is something else. Shoutout to the lemonade with lime! Really good! I’ll be back for sure! Vegan options! Edit: went back for the banh mi and the sandwiches were extremely disappointing.
The banh mi was pretty solid—definitely the highlight of the meal. The pork was flavorful. The bread was fresh, with that perfect crispy crust and soft interior. I also loved the creamy mayo and tangy pickled vegetables, which added a nice balance to the sandwich. Unfortunately, the pho was a major letdown. The broth tasted bland and watered down, more like the free soup you get with a lunch special than the rich, aromatic broth you’d expect from a good pho. It lacked the depth of flavor and the comforting warmth that make pho so special. The noodles and other ingredients couldn’t save it either.
I got a grilled pork banh mi, and to be very fair, the pork tasted really good. But I have to give it 3 stars because it was kinda sad to see how little filling they put in the sandwich, I wish they had filled it up some more. Again, the taste is great, no complaints there. I probably would not come back to this place for banh mi again.
Mediocre food. Certainly not bad but the shredded chicken itself is pretty bland. I don’t think it was marinated. Pretty heavy on the mayo. 3.5 stars for food Knocked down a half star because of the pricing. Post tax and pre tip, a banh mi cost $10.50 (the menu used to list $7.50 and now lists $8.50, so there’s some mystery massive surcharge being added in addition to the tax - and credit card processing is not that expensive).
Tried their banh mi pork. I really enjoyed the pickled veggies, more than the meat itself. The bread is crunchy wished the meat wouldve been the highlight but it was not. Jalapeños is always nice which was in the sandwich. Overall convenient place, small with window bar seating and i think one or two tables.
I have eaten here twice and honestly the food is just OK. The pho had no flavor. The broth tasted of water. The green Papaya salad was all carrots. The banh mi was skimpy on the meat. Overall disappointing. This is a hole in the wall restaurant. The dining area is tiny and uncomfortable. The bubble tea was fine but all ice if you ask me.
I actually really like this spot- the food is good, service is fast, prices are reasonable, the location is good. The reason I am giving one star is because, for whatever reason, they never make my sandwich actually spicy. Every time I ask, I expect it to be the 🌶️🌶️🌶️ level as indicated on the menu, and every single time it is milder than a cup of milk. Today I looked at the person taking my order in the eyes and asked “can I please ACTUALLY have it spicy?” to which they replied “yes,” and my sandwich came with half a sliver of jalapeño for the entire thing, and mayo milder than dew drops on a rose. If the restaurant replies to this review and explains why they cannot make a spicy sandwich, and agrees to actually season my food as I ask, and to match the level advertised on the menu, I will update to five stars. UPDATED: thank you to Banh Mi Place for replying. Unfortunately, I went today and asked for a spicy sandwich, and it was still not spicy. See second photo with same half a jalapeño and mild sauce.
