Bushniwa Brooklyn Reviews
This place is delightful. All the food and drinks were not only delicious, but also interesting. We had a mushroom appetizer where you could grill the mushrooms yourself over a small grill and it was really fun. The staff are very nice and conversational- the waiter explained to us the history and traditions surrounding the mushrooms and gave us great advice on what drinks to pair them with. It wasn't busy at all when I had dinner there a few weeks ago so it's quiet and also quite beautiful inside. Would 100% come here again.
As soon as I got in there, I was greeted with a happy employee and he sat us down immediately, which is a really, really good plus!(Always got to have somebody happy working and make you feel like you’re at home!) The restaurant was very, very well ventilated and very, very beautiful very spacious and the bathroom is nice too. The food was great too, very Great tasting.
For sushi at a reasonable price in bushwick this is the spot. Usually do delivery but decide to go in. Vibes are good and decor definitely gives you date night vibes. Sushi is good but wouldn’t call it the best. The appetizers are good, we like the chicken and other items, not as big of fan of the fish dishes. The sushi plate was good, with decent variety. The greens tea tiramisu was worth order for sure. Bathroom was clean, staff was friendly.
We were a party of 8 on an early Sunday afternoon. We had the largest table by the window and the nicest server Robin. We had a delicious meal of chef’s choice Omakase and a variety of apps, desserts and sake. I was pleasantly surprised as I have never been to that part of Brooklyn. It was a nice relaxing meal because we were not rushed. Would definitely return to try other things on the menu!
One of my favorite sushi spots in Brooklyn. Underrated. Incredibly authentic. Upscale dishes in an unassuming atmosphere. You’ll find one of a kind specials here that are hard to find anywhere else. We ordered both specials on the menu. I can’t tell you what the sushi was but it was amazing. The other special was the dobi mushi, similar to a chawanmushi but instead of a custard it’s a broth with a mixture of exotic seafood and mushrooms. The broth is clear and fragrant. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. Also this is the first time I’ve had fresh ikura. If you ever get a chance, I would highly recommend it. Most ikura you find in restaurants come frozen and processed. This was a special dinner so we went all out but no regrets it’s one of the best meals I’ve had all year.
I came here for my friends birthday. The place is very beautiful, i like the wooden decorations on the wall and everywhere else. We got Sushi that you can order either for 30/55/75 or a 100$, we got it for 100. We got a lot of sushi, chefs choice and it was amazingly good. At the end, we ordered Matcha Tiramisu, Green tea mochi and 3 layer sweet dessert. I loved them all. Overall, great experience. Worth coming for Birthday or a date. Come back for sure. Thank you
Bushniwa is a very nice restaurant with very fresh fish. I have to admit, the scallop and cod was done very nicely. The scallop was just perfectly crispy on the outside and not dry and inside was super moist and buttery. Same can be said about their cod. Their decor is beautiful. However, if you plan to come and eat, bring your wallet, it is not for the faint of heart. That being said, you wont be disappointed with the food.
Ambiance was very good. The place was in middle of no where almost so it felt a bit unsafe if I were to walk in the neighborhood. It was night time. However, once I walk in, it was completely different. I luckily parked right outside the restaurant and it was a cold day with barely any customers inside. More takeouts than dine-ins. The drinks were okay. The appetizers were pretty good with the karaage and eggplant. My friends and I mostly got sushi. We’re simple people who like salmon and thought it was really good. It’s not amazing but pretty good. I felt the cost was a bit high, but we had fun and nothing tasted bad. I like the ambiance more than anything though. The waiters were attentive and brought the food in a timely manner.
fantastic sushi— the fish is so fresh and the rolls are delicious. great for groups or date night, the service here is super friendly and very fast! we loved the yellowtail scallion handroll and spider roll. docked a star because the rolls are a bit small relative to the price point. nevertheless, this spot was fantastic!
I stumbled upon this restaurant on a Monday night to find excellent service and tasty food. The restaurant was really quiet and the football game was on the screen and with just a few patrons in the restaurant the ambience was cozy. The eggplant was bursting with flavor and the black cod was beautifully cooked. I would definitely come back to try other dishes since I didn’t explore their sushi menu.
This neighborhood has changed a lot for past few years and a girlfriend of mine took me here to try this new place. Actually this restaurant opened more than a year and definitely a neighborhood gem. We arrived around 6pm and we are able to seat immediately, we ordered a Japanese sake to kick off the dinner. The wine, sake selection are good and the prices are decent. We ordered the grilled yellowtail collar and eel to begin with, and both dishes are nicely prepared and I will come back to order again. We shared a Sashimi combo (medium) as our main courses and they gave great quantity of Sashimi, very nice and fresh and good variety of different seasonal fishes too. The desserts menu are excellent too, they made their own desserts, Matcha Tiramisu, Coconut & Matcha Panna Cotta with fresh strawberry sauce and the homemade almond tofu. It is worth to go back again. The overall space is comfy and cozy and perfect for gathering or hang out at the bar. Street parking is good too!
We got the black cod, beet salad and pear salad. The salads were a complete joke. $16 each and all they consisted of was lettuce, pear, and dressing or lettuce, beets, and dressing. The black cod was very good but it was SO SMALL. And for the price of $20 I would expect it to be much larger. Honestly this place is a rip off and it could be so much better. Also, when they dropped it off at our door they just left it there, didn’t even knock.
I usually don’t give a bad review. But wow. I must be honest. Chicken karaage was not fully cooked (see picture). The sushi tasted OLD. Definitely not eatable. I’m giving the food of my order a 1 star. The presentation of the delivery was pristine but I’m hungry.
