Solid, tasty, consistent soul food and convenient pre-order. Friendly staff and if you want to dine-in, it's not fancy and it's small, but the atmosphere and decor is as cozy and comforting as the food.

I ordered the Mac n cheese and shrimp . I did wish the shrimp came in a larger portion other than 6 but , it was delicious. The food was amazing and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The waitress Capiella (spelling) from Romania was so sweet and helpful .

I've only been there once, and it's already the best soul food I've had in the neighborhood. BBQ Chicken was tasty, cornbread was fresh, even the iced tea was sweet but not too sweet– just perfect.

A sista friend told me about Ma-n-pa soul food restaurant located in Bed-Stuy Bklyn this morning..I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop in. I'm so happy I did. It's a black owned Business. I ordered the shrimp & crits with cheese, coffee and oj.. ohhh sooo good..The atmosphere & service was amazing..The music playing oldies..I was singing & eating... If you are looking for a nice cozy place to dine in or take out stop on by...I will come back soon..

It felt like a Sunday morning at Grandma's Sadie house in Blythe, Georgia. My pancakes was perfectly brown and fluffy. The service was warm and welcoming and I truly enjoyed the music that played, I felt like I took a trip in time. It was a great experience and I cannot wait to go back🥰

This was my first dinner in the US after living abroad for half a year. It couldn't have been better. The staff was so friendly, atmosphere is great, and the food reminded me of my mom's cooking when I was a kid. It was the perfect spot and a great place to introduce my husband to some of the food I grew up eating. It was a little slow and laid back, which I know might not be ideal for people in a hurry, but for a comforting meal after a long day, it's just right.

This place is such a cute, intimate environment with awesome music and AMAZING food! It's family owned and the family was so incredibly sweet and kind! The prices were excellent! We fed 5 adults with FULL meals for only $61!!! So, of course we left a healthy tip! 😉 It's a small diner. Probably fits 20 ppl at most! Perfect for a nice afternoon brunch with a friend or small family. We told them that THIS would be one of our family's new frequented spots! 😊

We have been ordering here for over a year. The catfish and whiting is by far the best cooked fish we have ever had. Perfectly cooked with the best taste and seasoning. And the sides are always wonderful. Ma-n-Pops leaves you scraping your plate at the end for more...every time!

Although a small space it was very comfortable for myself, wife, and two children. The atmosphere was very reminiscent of Martha's from Cooley High. The images of historical figures was highly appreciated and the music was spot on to the era given off by the atmosphere. The food was TOP NOTCH, definitely going to go back here when looking for some good soul food!

Nice family place. The meat loaf was excellent and I've never had better. The corn bread with a dab of butter melting into it was a nice finishing touch. Music playing in the background from a kinder gentler time gave a nice vibe. Staff was great

The food was amazing! We got the rib and fried chicken plate. Both came out quick and were super delicious. The atmosphere was a 10/10 and music selection was on point 🫰🏽. Chef Mina came out to check on us after the meal. Would definitely come back!

Food was Delicious...We wanted to patronize them for Juneteeth..I Knew of the place over 30 years...but never went in...Today was a great experience!.. My only problem they have no public bathroom..over 30 years and no bathroom...with them people in the neighborhood now...I'm sure they would invest in one!!😒

Visited this place yesterday with my family while visiting the area, and it was AMAZING! I knew it would be though, because I could smell the deliciousness before we hit the door. The people were nice, and the waitress was efficient. The food was good (I had chicken & waffles) and priced right. I really like that the portions weren't overly large. They were just right. If you love good people and good food, check out Ma N Pop! Your taste buds will thank you. If you've been here, RATE them so we can get their numbers up! Support!!!

I was visiting NY for a short trip and I was craving some French toast that reminded me of home, not something expensive or fancy. This restaurant was PERFECT. The food was delicious and very wholesome, and the vibe of the restaurant was also very home-like. I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere, I truly felt like I was at home which was what I needed during my trip. If you want some food that feels like your folks made it, you should definitely try this spot. The price point was very reasonable which made the experience even more satisfying. I got the French toast and turkey bacon and it was sooo good. I wouldn’t say I’m a French toast connoisseur, but I’ve had many different versions of it, and my favorite is the “simple” recipe with powdered sugar on top… no extra stuff like nuts and compote. I’m picky, and the restaurants nearby didn’t offer “simple” French toast so I’m so glad I found this spot near my Airbnb in Brooklyn. I WILL be back to explore more of the menu as other items sounded delicious as well lol! Much love.

Love this cute homey place. Service can be slow but the food is amazing. It's nice to be reminded that perfection isn't everything it's the general feel and aura. Like at home! 6/2021: Great Black Woman owned business... Was running an even and needed to feed 15.ppl. it was 30 minutes until closing time.and not only did the owner help put the orders together she also delivered it for me so i could serve on time. And gave me a discount. Everything was delicious and the folks were very happy. Great place.

I sincerely love this place. The decor is pretty cool retro and positive vibes it makes me feel like I’m home at granny’s house. I warn you the wait time is a bit cray but good food takes time. But the price, portion and ambiance is worth it. I’m a big fan of their catfish or whiting (Super crispy and flavorful even better with hotsauce), collard greens (flavorful and delicious), mash potatoes (flavorful and mashed to perfection with the just right amount of gravy), burgers (well done and flavorful). It’s a cozy dim lit space with a dope staff that are welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Certainly one of my go to spots when I need a good vibe meal that’ll make my soul smile. #flavah

I love this place! Come here for real auntie vibes. No, it’s not the most efficient but honestly there are countless places for soul food in a corporate atmosphere if that’s what you want. Here you get great food at a great price in a laid back authentic setting. Love.

A piping hot, wholesome meal where you can taste the love. Looks like cash only + they have an ATM but they take cards. Reasonable prices, excellent playlist. Thank you so much for being here for me today. It was raining hard and I dripped water all over the floor, I’m sorry.

A fabulous neighborhood cafe that felt like we were eating at "Big Mama's House." The food was great, the staff super sweet, even the customers were engaging and friendly. Places like Mom n Pop is why we don't travel like tourist! And the Red velvet Cake!!!

Good morning my Ma -n-Pop world just had some awesome breakfast cheesy grits slamming, cheesy eggs on point ,pancakes soft ,sage sausage, turkey sausage had me sleepy afterwards. The service was amazing as well as cook and point with all the food. The vibe in this beautiful place feels like home. Enjoy good music oldie but goodies. Just a place to get a good bite to eat quality food. Thank you for the great experience.

I LOVE MA N POP’S!!!!!! Kindest people, great service, small but beautiful inside and out. Delicious DELICIOUS food, every time. Good lunch and dinner soul food but don’t sleep on the breakfast. The waffles and French toast are perfect and their pork breakfast sausage is the best I’ve ever had. Shout out to Tresa she’s a sweetheart❤️

Southern cuisine at its finest. Small venue, big on taste. Being from the south, l discovered fish and grits at an early age, this is where I go to satisfy my fish and grits crave. Good cooking, also great collard greens, cornbread and candied yams all cooked in the Southern traditional way. Good Eating!

Update: I've checked in on Yelp 10 times. What I order never disappoints. Just happy I can get takeout after work now since my schedule has changed. Old: love the fact that they serve ham hocks as a main meat! Although I can make my own, there's something about going to a soul food spot and ordering from them..nostalgia!

It's bizarre to me this place isn't 5 stars. I don't understand. Stop in and get some fried chicken. Having a bad day? Worried about all the war and suffering? Stop in and have some fried chicken. Life could be a dream and that dream is eating fried chicken at Ma-N-Pops. There's no performative sycophancy. There's no pressure to match the sappy energy of some scripted bubbly server. They're going to take your order, take your order into the back and return to minister an imitable sacrament that you will never forget. You'll hear them howling in the kitchen with laughter behind the jackson 5 or other 80s/90s soul and r&b hits, and you will taste that love in the food.

My new favorite breakfast/brunch spot. This place is exactly what the name implies a small, Black-owned Mom & Pop Shop operation. So don’t expect bells and whistles, but definitely expect good food and good people. Admittedly, I have slept on this place for years, passing it up for more bedazzled restaurants amongst the BedStuy thoroughfare, but I have most assuredly been missing out. The menu is Southern and homemade. If you really want food that tastes like home, this is the place. The fish is fried to perfection and admittedly that’s my favorite thing here. Although the fried pork chops are the business as well. And the turnaround time for ordering is pretty quick. So it’s not a long wait for food you may be feenin for. (Like me!) The service is fast and in all honesty the breakfast reminds of me how my mom and aunts from VA cook. With love and care. Like they are happy you are here or there and just want you to sit down and eat while they look at you enjoy the food. I have to try more things on the menu, but I am absolutely STUCK on their all day breakfast menu! Other places in the neighborhood and around BK may be cute and fancy-ish and have more amenities, but this 19 year old, family run, Black-owned, Bedstuy staple is very much worth the trip, the reasonable pricing and the community love and support it deserves. No Frills Just Good Homecooked Meals!

This cozy, small spot is an absolute gem! The food is outstanding, starting with the catfish—flawlessly crunchy outside and intensely flavorful inside. The French toast was seasoned beautifully, and the creamy grits melted with a perfect butter taste. Everything on the plate was excellent, and the woman serving us was incredibly sweet and caring. Despite the limited tables, the charm of this place is unbeatable. This is a must-visit, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the NYC area!

Oh my, what a delicacy. The catfish was nice and flavorful, crunchy. The eggs nicely cooked. The French toast was seasoned so well. The grits had this nice butter taste. The woman attending was so sweet and caring. Only thing is not enough tables but that's fine, its a small spot. But was very delicious next time im in nyc area ill have to stop by again

Delicious food, nice old school ambience and great old school selection of music! Would definitely come back here. The fried catfish was perfectly fried, seasoned and the cornmeal crust was so good! This place has most excellent vibes. Wall art that feels authentic, not procured by some corporate restaurateur. Great tunes. A menu that is simple but feels truly domestic and comforting. Fantastic, endearing alternative to the “trendy” soul food nearby. Worth the stop, especially for their Sweet Tea.

Great food for very reasonable price! I loved the meatloaf and yams especially. My friend from Europe also enjoyed his plate. A great place to show him a part of US culture outside of the touristy part of NYC.

Small Bed-Stuy eatery w homey atmosphere. Had breakfast, 2 pieces of fried catfish, grits and scrambled egg w cheddar cheese. Everything was delicious! Ate everything and felt satiated for hours. Caught the itis and laid down for a couple hours afterwards. The banana pudding, a nice heap for $6 is so flavorful and fresh! One of the best I have ever tasted! The place is always packed and the wait for take out food is longer than most, but the meal is worth it. Everything must be made fresh daily because they run out of choices of sides by 12 pm. Ordered pork chop dinners w 2 sides, yams and Mac, that I ate later that evening. I thought the pork chop would be smothered, but it was fried. It was ok, but I think I'll stick with the catfish. Not everyone can cook it and they cook it to perfection!

W
Whitney Alexander (CantStopMyPretty)

I absolutely love supporting this establishment but my main concern always is service and paying attention to detail. A few days ago my sister ordered delivery and it came with 2 extra sides she did not order that were completely unrelated to her meal. Of course that's good for her , but bad for business. I don't want to see one of my favorite local businesses lose money because an employee just isn't paying attention to detail. The food is always on point so it makes up for the lack of service on some visits.

I've lived in the neighborhood for years (10+), but never actually tried this place until a couple years ago, when my kitchen was being renovated and I was eating out for every meal. I can say the food has always been good. Not great or anything to write home about, but it's consistent and the portions are always more than enough for me. It always hits the spot and holds me for several hours. They do free coffee refills, which are always a great. The service used to be REALLY slow, but I've been twice in the past three weeks and that aspect has improved dramatically. The dining room is cute, looks and feels like you're literally in "ma n pops" eat-in kitchen, circa 1982. There's no bathroom for patrons, unfortunately, so just know that before you go to eat in. Otherwise, they do take orders for pickup. Since I live so close, I'm not sure if they do delivery through any of the apps out there.

Very small sit in or to go spot. Soul Food spot if I may. Food was great. Price to portion ratio was good as well. Even though I would have liked an extra catfish on my plate. Only get 1. They serve breakfast all day Staff need to perk up a little more. Definitely will be a repeat customer.

Nice quaint restaurant, not a lot of seats so get there early. Appears to be family owned. We ordered the catfish, grits and eggs, pancakes, and grits and chips. Everything was well seasoned and cooked good. We will definitely be back.

Food is always good. My first time ordering a drink and they get it wrong I asked for ginger ale and received sprite. I do not like sprite. I called and was told they have no more ginger ale, so why didn’t they tell the delivery person so he could call me to make another beverage choice. Guess I will continue to get food and no drinks.

I had a craving for wings but didn’t want to cook so I search for beef ribs and came across this spot. I enjoyed the meal, it came with 2 sides ( candied yams and Mac n cheese) plus I ordered lemonade n chocolate. Candied yams were a perfect amount of sweet. Cornbread was pretty good just a lil dry

My husband and i went there for breakfast and boy THAT CATFISH WAS DELICIOUS WELL SEASONED NICE AND CRISPY... DANG I CAN STILL TASTE IT. WELL RETURN. AFTER YEARS OF PASSING THIS LOCATION I NEVER KNEW THE FOOD WAS SO SOOÒOO GOOD... 😋 😋

T

Placed an order for takeout, I didn't call ahead of time so I didn't mind the wait. I asked for a half chicken with two sides of Mac n cheese and collard greens. The sides were tasteful but the chicken wasn't. The chicken was very small and the skin it was so crispy that the skin was difficult to peel off. It was just cracking into pieces. Overall service was good.

Y

Food is decent and very inexpensive. I've been several times and one of my issues with this place is they ALWAYS run out of something. Once it was cornbread, another time, lemonade, another time mac & cheese. How the hell you run outta mac and cheese at a SOUL FOOD establishment?!?! The wait staff and cooks seem to be the same person sometimes. The last time I went it took over 30 minutes from the time we ordered to the time the food arrived. The place is cozy and there were hardly any patrons. The resturants around them had lines out the door. No restrooms. Better go before you get there. I don't understand how they get away with not having a bathroom in an eat in restuarant. Not bad but definitely room for improvement.

K
KittyHawk Schleifer

Great food!! They didn't have several items on the menu available, but it happens. More importantly, they seemed like they wanted us to hurry up and get out, trying to take plates away before we had finished. We sat down before 8pm, they are open until 10pm, didn't understand the unfriendly welcome. No restroom was tricky - we were curtly, not kindly, told to go to one of the restaurants across the street :/ Tasty food, bland service.

A
Alia'a Harun

My best friend and I have a routine where we go to a cute breakfast place to check it out, and stick with it if its good. For the first 2 times, we loved the place. The food was good, and the price was reasonable. The next three times unfortunately, we witnessed things going downhill. Our usual fluffy pancakes were undercooked and..gummy? Our coffee refills were also charged wrongly, but the waitress seemed to be cross already, so we didn't bother about it. Hopefully their pancakes will be better the next time?

This place can get crowded, try before 7 if you could! The bartender was attentive. I ordered a mojito ($10) while waiting for a table and it was a strong one served in a mason jar. The food was okay. I'd recommend getting the steak platter for $17 if you do decide to eat here. I ordered the mango chicken (sounds good but literally 5 pieces of chicken) served with rice and some plantains for $15. I think the food here is overpriced for what its worth, and if you're in Flushing there are other options. Another warning: food takes forever to come out. If you happen to be craving Mexican but you are stuck in Flushing, give this place a shot. Service was friendly and attentive.

E
Eddie WrightStuff

I've dined in numerous times in the past, as I live 6 blocks away, and everything was perfect. Yesterday I made a DoorDash order and the fried chicken was dry, the vegetables portions were small and lukewarm and there were no napkins or utensils. I'll dine in but NEVER order delivery again.

D
Diane Crowder

I dined out the place is small and dark. The serve was good. The food was fresh but bland. Excellent for a person with low sodium intake, renal or heart issues, especially hypertension!😎

C
Cheryl Harris-Dean

The atmosphere in this place is pretty comforting. R& B, and soul classics from the mid 1900's played in the background and the walls were covered with all types of memorabilia. It is clearly a family run establishment and for that I'll keep it nice . The shrimp were fresh and seasoned well. The mac and cheese was ok, not bad but not exceptional. The string beans were the least pleasing part of my meal. Very soggy and not as flavorful as I would have liked. The service needs a little tighten up Maybe hire a wait staff person. Overall, not a bad experience but could use some improvements.

One of the last Black American owned Soul Food restaurants left in BedStuy. The food is authentic, and the restaurant mostly patronized by locals. Where else can you get good grits and cheese? Where else can you get a sweet tea that will send you into diabetic shock? Prices are reasonable too. Seating, unfortunately, is limited.

S

Ribs & the yams were delicious! The Mac and cheese is pretty mid :/, That was a little disappointing. The cornbread was another reason I wanted to come here was but it was pretty dry. They show grits in the Google pictures but it wasn’t on the menu which was a little misleading.

The Pork Chops, Collard Greens and Bread pudding was great!!! But I got boxed mash potatoes.

Elle

The food I ordered wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I definitely will not order this combination again. The turkey wings were dry and could use a bit more seasoning, the salmon croquettes were salty and the collard greens were bland. I did love the decor. The restaurant is super cute and homely. If the food was better I would definitely recommend Ma-n-Pop for a cute lunch date or I would suggest to try another menu item.

Aaron

I had a mixed bag experience. The service was great - very friendly and kind. The wait for the food was pretty long (and even longer for a man who called ahead for food). The two dine in chairs were both broken. The pork chop dinner (with mashed potatoes, yams, and cornbread) was alright but not necessarily great. They DO accept credit cards (despite a cash only sign). I would be curious to try their breakfast selections.

Vince Herrera
Vince Herrera

Their prices and portions are definitely worth it. But unfortunately I was a little disappointed with their mac n cheese. Some other reviews about it had me a little excited. I also had the chopped chicken which had lots of flavor. I would like to go back again some time and try other items on their menu.

J
Jenise Washington

The last couple of visits I was not pleased at all. The cabbage tasted uncleaned and barely seasoned. I had better chicken sandwiches from some Halal deli's and the customer service was mediocre even though I dropped more than $35 for 2 meals and a carrot cake. I won't be dropping it there any more. No time soon. I will stick too Peaches and I can't wait for Southern Comfort too open.

Our people have to do better by us! You can spend a lot of money and support consistently and still not be valued. All customers should be treated with respect and care. Post Covid you think they would appreciate the customers more. They don’t seem capable of handling large orders without massive errors they also don’t seem to have management that can handle basic customer service. Decent food can only take you so far. Order at your own risk!

We waited 25 minutes to get food. They never brought us water we had to ask twice. They gave me milk for my coffee, but the milk container barely had milk. We finished eating and they pretty much ignored us for another 25 minutes before we could get check and container to go food. yet we were in the middle of the small restaurant and people kept coming in to try to get seats, so I don't know how we were so ignored, no one checked on us if we needed anything else after we got our food..I heard another customer complain he never got his lemonade but they had tried to charge him for it on the bill. Another customer played his video game loudly next to us. but they didn't tell him to turn it down. The chairs have high handles and don't allow you to pull it close to under the table so my 4 year old had trouble getting close to table. The food was tasty but not worth this long wait. Also I ask for wheat bread and they gave me white.

I must admit at first i really enjoyed the food an service at this restaurant, after our second visit I had a change of heart about this place. UNFORTUNATELY the food was lousy. The yams too sweet the chicken dry and stale it tasted just left overs left over a day too long to be serving to customers. I can never get a soda on time when I order it. Gotta wait 30 mins. By that time i am half way finish with my meal. SORRY MOM N POP but your meal didn't hit home.

I decided to try this restaurant for breakfast because it was highly recommended by a family member. This family member usually over exaggerates a lot. The atmosphere was calming and intimate. This is a seated environment with about five (5) maybe six (6) tabes for two (2). The huge turn off was there is not one bathroom for seated customers. Not cool at all. The breakfast food was bland and tasteless. 1st Plate: The eggs were watery, beef sausage were not well done, salmon cakes were not fully cooked (too soft on the inside), left a bad after taste in my mouth. The only thing tolerable on the plate was the Home-fries and Toast 2nd Plate: Toast was cold and hard, sage sausage was not well done and tasteless, the grits with cheese (cheese was like a mixed cheddar/mozzarella shredded cheese), eggs were watery, and the the sweet tea was tooooo sweet. I usually give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. I almost always check customer reviews before making a purchase or visiting a restaurant. Would I go back to Ma & Pop Soul Food Restaurant? No.

I ordered for delivery and I had high expectations. Unfortunately the food was mid. The yams were sickeningly sick, the Mac and cheese was bland and watery, and the fried chicken had no taste. I expected better from a “soul food” place.

The atmosphere and service were great! The lady that served me was very sweet, and I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. HOWEVER, when it came to the food, I ordered a fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich wasn't even a sandwich. It was two pieces of untoasted store-bought bread with a chicken leg and thigh with BONES smacked right in the middle... No mayo, no lettuce, no tomato, no dignity, no soul. If you go here, order a drink and sit down and relax. Don't buy ANYTHING! IT'S A TRAP!

Took two hours for the food to be delivered my BBQ ribs were dry with little BBQ sauce and the sides were very bland with no seasoning or flavor

I was expecting more, but my expectations were too high I guess. The food was not good. The staff was nice, the reason for an extra star.

This place was actually really small in person • There was no restroom and only about 5 tables. Also for breakfast options past a certain time there is an extra charge . As for the food, it honestly wasn't the greatest . The Mac and cheese was kind of like crumbled cheese with pasta noodles. The pancakes were pretty good but I believe they weren't fully cooked. The aesthetic was very cute but I honestly do not see myself coming here again.

The girl sent my food without napkins or fork I called to asked why she didn't put any eating utensils in my bag she stared getting very nasty and I have to go to the store and buy a fork so I can eat my food! Will not recommend or return! Customer service is a key to having a good business!

It is a dilapidated hole in the wall place. The restaurant decor is full of black memorabilia, but the place is dirty. The food is subpar with small portions for the price you pay. The service is awful served with an attitude to boot. After standing there for over 45 minutes waiting for my food the woman comes out and presents us with luke warm food and opens the carton to show us our food like it was 5 star dining. If you are looking for excellent soul food go to Liberty soul food @1639 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11207. My goodness is the food fresh and flavorful with a big portion and inexpensive!

My friend and I went to this restaurant today in hopes of getting some authenic soul food. What we got was some sub par , lukewarm , tasteless food. The “ Mac N’ Cheese”was real life nasty , it was just elbow noodles and block cheese. Don’t even get me started on the rice and gravy , it was completely cold and hard. The gravy was so watery. We waited a good 40 minutes just for the food to arrive and it was barely warm. My friend had to get her food reheated. It took like 20 minutes just to get some water. We had to ask multiple times for our cornbread and we finally got it once we got up to leave. Our first and last time here.

If you're gonna make food it should be at least worth the price my aunts were very disappointed 1 sausage 2 eggs grits 12 that is the most a 8 meal shameful 😕 they said. Thought I would give them another try at least this time I got hash unfortunately not like I asked for which was well done which doesn't mean just cook on on side or even flip means cook throughout

DO NOT GO HERE! It was a disgraceful experience and our server was incredibly rude on 10/22/23. She actually slammed our food down on the table because she was “overwhelmed.” A terribly disappointing experience, especially as a Black owned restaurant. The food was also burnt. AVOID! This was my first time trying and it will definitely be my last.

Ordered here before a long time ago and I wasn't impressed but I must have forgotten exactly how bad it was til I ordered again today. I ordered really the simplest items to get; mashed potatoes, meatloaf and mac and cheese; knowing they can't mess that up and was WRONG. The meatloaf itself was just decent, but I never had a worse Mac and cheese in my life and the mash potatoes tasted funny as hell so I had to throw it away. Someone in the reviews said you'd be better or with a frozen meal and I agree a hungry man dinner would have been way better than this im so disappointed.

Pork chop dinner was TERRIBLE. string beans severely overcooked, mashed potatoes were boxed, pork chop fried too dry and tough, gravy watered down seemed like canned. I was extremely disappointed.

I ordered my food using Uber Eats. I never write reviews. I ordered two meals, turkey wings with yams and macaroni and cheese and chicken wings with rice and peas and string beans. My one turkey wing was burned, and the rest of the food was horrible. My second order was horrible as well. Just left a bad test in my mouth. Please do better.

So,I had Turkey, corn and white rice with a little bit of gravy. Needless to say, the Turkeys were burnt! the corn taste terrible the gravy for the rice was just as bad👎 because that was burnt!! but how can anybody go wrong with making corn? Even from the can. They lost my business

The presentation of the food was horrible. The taste not so great. $47 was definitely not worth it.

On a Saturday night all the restaurants around had a 45-minute wait, while this one was empty. Now I see why. Dry, tasteless fried chicken, cornbread that felt and tasted like cardboard, and overcooked wilted poorly seasoned collard greens. I don't know how this place is staying in business with so many amazing soul food options in Bed-Stuy!

I prolly woidkve had a different experience if it was in person but i did via door dash. I couldn’t add anything on or substitute anything tried to call them and they said to contact DoorDash when DoorDash says to contact them. By the time i got my food , no straws or utensils and the food had no seasoning lol. Like i said it could be bc this was a door dash order not a place to order from door dash try Shane’s Brooklyn instead 10x’s better!!

Whoever is back there making the Mac and cheese needs to be SHOT!!! I ordered a fried chicken dinner and the sides were HORRIBLE.The mac and cheese was literally some of the worst I've tasted it was greasy and dry at the same time how that's even possible I have no clue..... and the Collard greens tasted like they were cooked in water with no other Seasonings besides the smoked meat. The only thing that saved the plate was the fried chicken and that's unfortunate. I will not be spending my hard earned money here again.STEP IT UP MA AND POP

Food is usually so good but today I found two long black hairs in a plate I ordered from uber eats. Ruins the entire meal to be honest. Restaurants should be more strict about hair nets.

I hardly ever leave reviews, but my visit to "Ma n Pop" left me no choice. I'm being totally honest here, not because the food was any good. It was so awful, I feel like I need to warn others. I ended up apologizing to my girlfriend dozens of times for taking her there. This place seems more focused on looks than on the food they're serving. People have been raving about their "Mac and Cheese," but I'm convinced they've never actually eaten here. Trust me, the photos shared by others online don't lie—it's a disgrace. Don't be tricked by the high ratings like I was. It's all about appearance, not the actual food. They're not willing to improve what they're serving, and that's just crazy. I wish I'd taken a photo of my meal to show just how bad it was. Honestly, anything from the frozen section of a grocery store would taste better. My girlfriend and I felt sick after eating here I had the catfish dinner with Mac n Cheese and potato salad. Why did I do this to myself? The catfish was passable, but the potato salad tasted off, and the Mac and Cheese was basically just mac—no cheese. How can a soul food place mess up Mac and Cheese this badly? My girlfriend's dish wasn't any better. The gravy was watery and looked like diarrhea on a plate, and it tasted bland, as if it came from a can. A Hungry Man meal tastes better. We've shown pictures of our meals to others, and they were just as appalled. The whole experience was a letdown, especially since we had been looking forward to trying this place. It's disheartening to see a restaurant, particularly one that's Black-owned, mislead people like this. Those fake reviews are a disservice to everyone.Lastly, the photos I'll share are from other people. Look at them and tell me, does this look appetizing to you? Serving food like this should be embarrassing. Writing this review doesn't make me feel any better; it's just the harsh reality. There's a special place in hell for people who write fake reviews. This is supposed to be a soul food restaurant, but there's no soul to be found here. The service was okay, nothing special. But I won't be coming back. Ever. To Ma-n-Pop, the food should speak for itself. You don't have to lie about your reviews. If it's good, people will naturally talk about it and spread the word. The food is the most important thing, then comes the culture and reviews of the restaurant. The food is the foundation, and if it’s good, it will stand on its own.
