Mother's Brooklyn Reviews
If you disregard the perpetual "grade pending" sign in the window... Simple but good beer selection. Simple, but good outdoor space. Simple, but damn good burgers.
Good burgers...was so stuffed after. Super chill spot. Nice happy hour. Will definitely be back.
My favourite local place for a beer or there great fries. Try the mixed basket of French and sweet potatoes! Rotating craft beers on tap, nice burgers (beef, chicken, turkey, Vegetarian, tilapia...), salads and vegetarian options.
It was my second time and service was consistent. I enjoyed the sweet potatoe fries and the Arnold Palmer. Nice calm vibe where you can be social and enjoy a meal with a beverage of your choosing.
Love Mother's! This is my local Go-To for a Burger or Chicken sandwich. Nice selection of beer and ciders. (Try a delicious Downeast Cider, one of my faves from Boston.) Delicious fries! They even have fried pickles..yum. Friendly hipstery bartenders.:) You order at bar and seat yourself. Definitely a local haunt.:)
Great spot, everybody seems to rave about the burgers (which are good) but my go to is the chicken sandwiches. Also a big fan of the chipotle mayo they have there. Order at the bar and can sit wherever you want inside or out back
Great selection of beer with a great burger and top notch sweet potatoes fries. I love the order at the bar, seat yourself, 70's bar vib. They just started accepting credit cards too.
Another of my regular lunch/after work places to pop in. Great burger lunch specials and an excellent selection of beers (after work!) However, everytime I go there seems to be a table with infants so maybe I'll get lucky soon and find a day where they stay at home!
Best burger in Brooklyn!! Also the meatloaf sandwich is incredibly delicious either with tots or fries! But the entire menu is great and highly recommend.
I love that they offer a simple burger for a low price and then you can pay for add-ons. This way you can get a burger for cheap or just pay a little bit more for your dream burger. The fries were a dream, I love parmesan fries.
Mothers is has the feel of a neighborhood bar with great food options. Somewhere you bring friends and lovers alike, run into people you know. Have a few pints and burger why don't ya, and don't forget the tots!
Cool spot. Good food. Good drinks. They even have a nice outdoor area out front and in back. Very cool vibes. They sometimes play old movies on a TV over the bar.
You want to eat a burger? Great, you found the right spot. Congratulations are in order for the sweet potato fries. Get a side salad so you can move all that beef, cowgirl.
Delicious burgers. Possibly the tastiest I've ever had. Nice staff. Chill bar and cozy back patio.
Food was excellent! I got the cauliflower wings, and they were so good! I highly recommend this spot -- outside seating was great for seeing the neighborhood.
I love coming to Mother’s! Solid burgers & a great gluten free bun. The lunch special is a great deal and the bar tenders are always nice.
Amazing atmosphere with even better service!
Awesome spot to grab a beer in Brooklyn! The street view is absolutely fantastic, and the back patio is just awesome. You're gonna love it!
Great neighbourhood spot. Everything on the menu is great and recently they have added chicken wings. Good beer selection and enjoyable to sit at the bar.
Awesome neighborhood burger spot with a great late night deal. If I lived closer this would be my go to food place after a night out. It’s exactly what you want from a burger!
Great chill place for a beer, burger, and sweet potato fries, plus a great back deck.
My go to lunch spot. The burger is always on point and occasionally superb. The burger and beer special is perfect for a hard day's work.
Loved it! Burger was the best. Wish I could give it 10 🌟. Tell them how you want your burger and its cooked to your taste perfection. And those sweet potato 🍟 are forever the best.
After my excellent experience with this restaurant, I can confidently say that this was the best food and service of all time. I have been to thousands of restaurants as a food critic and analyst and this stood out the most. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries, and they were cooked perfectly. So juicy and flavorful. I 100% recommend this place for anyone in the New-York area.
Love their burger just a bit salty for their sweet potatoes fries. Other than that everything was good. I liked they have option for mixed fries.
Hands down the BEST turkey burger and sweet potato fries I've ever had! Typically sweet potatoes fries are always overly sweet tasting, but these are thinly sliced and have thick chunks of salt on them, so the sweetness is cut down by a good amount. Also paired it with a Snakebite (cider + lager). A perfectly delicious tasting meal overall!! Edit: Got the banana cream pudding for dessert... Amazing!!! Definitely get that as well. Great portion size too.
I like this little place. The burgers are fantastic and a really good value. It's not one of those pretentious burger joints that charges you, like, $28 for some bizarre meat blend with a vague artisanal cheese. You get a nice burger, cooked to perfection, on a Martin's potato roll. Nice nice. My girlfriend doesn't even like Martin's rolls and still likes the place because the burger is that good. I've also had the fried tilapia sandwich, which was legit. And don't forget to have the tots with the spicy mayo concoction.
Wanted a low key burger and Fries.. I debated on going, cause sometimes service is lackluster and inattentive with food quality that can be mediocre as well as overpriced in good old Williamsburg. That said everything was so good I decided to write a review.. the guys working were super attentive and friendly in a normal take pride in your work and chill kinda way. The Burger was bangin, and the vibe was chill, True lies a classic was playing on the tv.. when I left one of the owners thanked me for coming... hats off. Solid establishment. 🙌 🍔 🍺
Best chicken wings in the 5 boroughs.
Gandahar the 1983 classic animated French space film, a Paramore heavy ‘00’s playlist, and bartender Gee with witty anecdotes, a stellar drink recommendation of the seasonal spiced wine, and a meatloaf sandwich of sumptuous quality (the pickles cut through the richness of the meat) Not like home, but like the home you dreamed of having while trying to block out the noise of your parents fighting
Been coming here for almost a decade. The food really makes it, simple burger and fries, cooked to perfection. Staff are always nice, there's a tv if you'd like to zone out. Solid spot for the neighborhood.
Excellent food in a place for locals. Cute patio outside. Have to order at bar.
Great cheeseburgers at a perfect price. Always a nice line up of beers on tap. Also good appetizers and sides. It's my favorite place to meet friends in the neighborhood.
Best burgers and brews in Brooklyn!!! Came out on a Tuesday evening in search of a chill bar with good burgers and this place delivers. Tuesday night is Youth Night!!! Both Kate and G are so amazing and good people. Really make you feel loved like a mother!
FIRST OF Bravo for movie choices - It's almost like they know people come for the good movies! The BURGER is one of the best but for those who know it's all about the BLT there. The staff is always friendly and caring - water self serve is great and the patio is cute. Always a must for mothers visiting!
Get your butt to Mother’s!! Food is bomb and bartenders are some of my fav. Don’t sleep on the meatloaf sandwich.
Went on a Monday night for a drink and a burger. so great! the grilled chicken sandwich is huge! my boyfriend got the meatloaf sandwich and he loved it. also the coleslaw is delish. will absolutely be coming back
The best bar food by far. From the wings with great Buffalo sauce. To the best chicken sandwich to an even better burger. Even the Cobb salad is amazing and fills you up just right. Great vibes. The people who work here are awesome and prices are on point. Would recommend 100%
Go for the food stay for the fact that we’re losing these kind of establishments in Bk community + good food + reasonable prices
I live about 2 blocks away and finally went tonight. The burger + sweet potato fries are outstanding at $17. You order from the bar where they are very friendly. I didn't drink, but I noticed an organic orange wine for $12 which never seems to be less than $15-18 elsewhere. The back garden was a snow drift but I can imagine being awesome when it's warm. Definitely plan to come back.
Wings, burgers, chicken strips, sweet potato fries and the BLAT are all fantastic. I’m sure it all is but I’m not an adventurous eater and never try anything until I’ve seen other people eat it at least 7 times. So it took a long time to place my first order here but the staff was very generous and let me watch for a couple of weeks to observe and report on what people eat and now I can safely eat there. The space is cozy and packed with hotties. I grew up idolizing my Mother so I knew when I found it on Google Maps I would have to move as close to Mother’s as I could and I’m so happy I did. I really hope the bartender gives me back my cowboy hat.
Great spot for a beer and a solid bite to eat. We enjoyed the chicken sandwich, the grilled chicken caesar wrap, and the chicken tenders. They have a pretty good, though not expansive, selection of draft beers, and their tater tots and fries are very good!
Bangin' chicken caesar wrap!!!! Premium Graham Avenue experience. Great drinks, friendly staff, always a good time. LOCALS ONLY!!!!!! Ask for Nicole!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been here at least a dozen times. Great bar food. The buffalo wings, burger, chicken caesar wrap, fries, and tater tots are some of the items I usually get. All very tasty. The wings in particular rank very high in the neighborhood. The ambiance is great as well. Not a sports bar. One TV that plays movies (sound off). Really relaxed vibe, can go with friends or sit solo at the bar. Really great place to have in the area!
Absolutely fantastic! I don’t give “eeffoc” until I’ve had my fries in the morning—this hits the spot. Great service, welcoming atmosphere and affordable prices—only costs a quarter every 6th or 7th trip (I always forget which!). Tell Adrian, Drew and Tonya they’re doing an awesome job. If you give this place a “lookie”, you will be rewarded with a cookie!
My mother Ate fries ✌️😭 Then I saw Adrian explain our friend group serving 6777 mangos to an Ohio friend group. Then I saw sum sus grippers that gave me mango X-ray vision and 67 ice cream hair. I then got diddied by the Bluds and got a barbershop haircut that costs a quarter. Steven here screamed sixxxx sevennnn and Enrique came out of nowhere then i had some effoc to lighten the mood then 67 mason came out of nowhere and engulfed the earth 10/10 experience
Greg is Amazing, the only reason I come back! They have lots of food options and drinks. Kona BigWave is a big plus to have. Indulge in the exquisite craftsmanship of hand-crafted burgers, made using 100% pure Kobe beef, sourced from the legendary Pat LaFrieda, an Executive Chef known for his unparalleled expertise in premium meats. Each burger is meticulously prepared, ensuring every bite is a harmonious blend of rich, tender beef with a depth of flavor that only the finest Kobe beef can offer. But the menu doesn't stop there. For those seeking variety, they also offer a selection of mouthwatering options like the savory Chicken Sandwich, a satisfying Chicken Caesar Wrap, and even Veggie Hotdogs and Burgers for our plant-based friends. Whether you're craving something hearty, light, or vegetarian, there's something to satisfy every palate. And this is just the beginning—there's so much more to explore on their diverse and flavor-packed menu! Love, The Samurai
Celiac safe, gluten free options! Enjoyed a great dinner before a concert at the Brooklyn Steel. Kate, our bartend and server was extremely knowledgeable about gluten free options and cross contact. She confirmed the frier was dedicated so the sweet potato fries were a go along with burgers, wings, all insanely delicious! Support this awesome, small joint that takes pride in offering celiac safe and also tasty food!
What a surprise. Met my girlfriend for a quick bite before a concert. Fries as good as a certain classic fries we all know and love. Possibly the best burger I’ve ever tasted. The person that took my order, despite it being busy, you expect, maybe not snark but a kind of hurried delivery but no, they were lovely and calm (someone with blond hair and a shirt with the name Kaplan on the back of the shirt). I almost hate I live in lower Brooklyn to not be able to come here regularly. Gluten free substitutions are always appreciated
Best buffalo chicken!!!! Chris is the man very friendly and can make a drink! Edit: well Chris isn't there anymore, there's a young guy named Gee that took his spot they also do not serve chicken wings after a certain time. I don't know the vibe is a little different it was quiet. Gee was cool but he's just so young looking it's weird to see him behind the bar and make you a drink. Still a really cool spot.
These burgers are banging!!! High quality beef, thick patty with juices flowing into the bun. Sitting on top of a mound of fries - I got sweet potato but they have regular or tots too. Pickle, onions, tomato and lettuce are crispy and fresh. Came with a spicy zesty sauce off some kind. Everything delicious, texture, temperature, yum... Service was friendly and prompt, bartender/ server was cool dude. The lunch special included a half pint of beer too, all for 12 bucks! You need to try this place, if you haven't already. They've been here for many years so likely that you have been here already, but if not then come through!
Ordered a cheeseburger and tater tot’s. It was delicious but over priced. It was a generic cheeseburger no wow factor.
They make a great burger. Beer selection is mediocre although I do appreciate that they sometimes have Catskills brewery on tap.
Cute place, good drinks. Outdoor area is relatively tight compared to nearby spots. Decent burgers, really good fries.
Burgers and craft beers... this is a great choice for any day of the week! Craft beers and delicious burgers... Try the veggie and be sure to put the chipotle mayo on top. Oh, and don't forget to order the sweet potatoe fries! #FallFaves
Their $10 burger + drink lunch special is a steal. Cooked to perfection with a warm grilled bun and they offer tater tots? Yes yes yes.👍👍
Have been going to this place regularly for over two years now - and I don't even live in Brooklyn! The menu is small, but everything on it is delicious! Friendly bartenders and good value on both food and drinks! Not to mention, they have mulled wine during Winter. :)
Went here 3 times this week for sandwiches. Their turkey burger and fries were delicious and moderately priced. Service was quick
The Momma’s Meatloaf Sandwich is really solid. The meatloaf is flavorful and well-cooked, and the bread holds up nicely without getting soggy. Simple, satisfying, and just really well done.
Beer is decently priced, good happy hour. The “Veggie” Burger is just a soy patty (it looks like fried tofu) which was a little disappointing for a burger spot. But it’s cheaper than other veggie burgers in the area, though I’d rather pay more for something better. The service was good, quick and friendly. The atmosphere is fine, unassuming, unpretentious, but the tables and menus were sticky. A good place to go and not be judged, not the best date spot. Overall it’s fine.
I visited this busy pub on a Friday night, and it was conveniently down the street from the L. I got the pub burger, which was cooked excellently although the onions were a bit bitey. The fries were just alright. They have a solid beer selection.
Very tasty burger (loved the generous amount of pickles too) and a good lunch special to boot. Fries are too thin and angle-cut for my liking, and the service is somewhere between non-remarkable and non-existent. Definitely worth checking out for a quick meal.
Cute and cozy spot for a burger and some craft beers. You can sit wherever you want and order at the bar. The burgers are great, simply what a burger should and needs to be. Great late night deal starting at 10/11pm where it’s $10 for a burger and a beer. They also have tater tots :,)
Went here on a Saturday afternoon with my wife. Sat at the bar, and was greeted by the nice bartender whose name I sadly did not get. Got a beer and the avocado BLT, and we shared tots. The food was good, with the bacon nicely cooked. Feels like a place that doesn't try to overdo it, and the prices were quite reasonable.
Went for the lunch special! Burger + side + half pint. Apparently chose the wrong day because their fryer was broken but have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how great just the simple burger was! Cooked perfect medium and juicy. Would definitely go back.
Awesome clean nice vibe! Barkeep was on point! Burger cooked to order🙌🏽!! Cold slaw was medium spice, but I’m a weak sauce when it comes to spice! Bun was more sandwich style so great for those less bread more burger n fixin’ folks! Great prices for area tooo! I left satisfied! See you next time!
Amazing wings, way better than Carmine’s across the street. Burger is sizeable and decent. Service is kind of slow, and unfortunately not dog-friendly despite having a backyard.
Sometimes you'll have one of the best American-style meals of your life, others it'll be mediocre at best. Same to say with staff, the women bartenders are incredible and go above and beyond. The guy is always giving the bare minimum. I'd recommend going earlier in the day for a better experience. They play great music accompanied by 80s/90s classic movies. Overall, it's hit or miss depending on who is working.
Mother’s Est. 2008 Layout/atmosphere *Bar area with tables; one TV; menu on chalkboards; backyard/garden area Food/drink *Chicken wings (tossed in house-made Buffalo sauce, served with buttermilk ranch with blue cheese crumbles) - solid; some heat, tangy sauce *Complementary water cooler
I’ve always loved Mother’s but I recently had a disappointing burger there. Cooked into the ground and I couldn’t enjoy it. But the vibes are decent and typically the food is pretty good!
This is a small place with a cute backyard. I didn't have any food, so I can't rate that. The prices on drinks are very good. The bartender seemed to be in a bad mood, we all have those days, but if you're in the hospitality industry you should probably leave the bad mood outside the door. On a positive note: he did make a good drink. I'm glad I checked the place out, but I don't need to return.
Updating from 5 to 3 stars. Mothers has serious quality control issues. Sometimes you get amazing service, sometimes it’s the worst. Sometimes I get a great burger , sometimes they serve me a raw burger when I asked for medium well. Today, when i had to leave bc people started smoking cigarettes right in the outside eating area . I told the waitress’s/bar tender who didn’t care. Original review: Mothers is a gem. Large selection of local brewed beers. One of the best burgers in the neighborhood- tastes like that perfect burger from bbq. Happy hours 4-6pm. Greg the bartender is awesome and gives great service.
First time at Mothers. The ambiance is nice but in door dining lacked air conditioning on a 90 degree day. Grilled chicken sandwich was amazing but the burger came out late and lacked seasoning. Half our table had a longer wait but the staff apologized and discounted our tab. Not the best first experience but I would definitely give Mothers a second chance.
The burgers used to be really good here but I do not know what happened. Things have definitely changed. Firstly, my burger was charred beyond recognition and honestly, I do not think eating a burnt burger is all that healthy for you. Secondly, the bun is different. It used to be a sesame seed bun and this one is just a regular plain potato bun (not even toasted). Lastly, the tangy mayo sauce used to quite delicious, but now they have added a spicy kick to it and for someone who can not take too much spice, they should give people an alternative like a non-spicy version that is not ketchup. The quality does not justify the price. Sadly, if burger king can make it taste better for cheaper, then I would say skip it.
Serious quality issues. I've had two bad burgers here. Not cooked enough, too wet, and really lacking any flavor. There are better options in the area
Service is always not the best, but it's tolerable. You can only purchase alcoholic drinks and bar food here. Usually, I have gone more for the bar food, my usual burgers and fries/tator tots and wings. Went yesterday and took my family. My burger came out raw [had to return it to the kitchen] and tasteless, and my families food was not that great either. An hour later, we were all feel sick with stomach matter and nausea. I've been here various times before, but yesterday marked my last time there. Have a drink on our behalf and our only hope is that the service and food service raise their game.
Let's get this out of the way: the food is great, and I like their beer selection. However, twice in a row now I've ordered a veggie burger and got a meat burger instead. I'm not _that_ strict about it, and I'd rather eat it than have it be thrown away, but twice in a row is pretty ridiculous. I've crossed it off my list of places I'll eat regularly because of this. If you don't care about that, it's four stars.
Staff : 5/5 Drinks : 5/5 Food : 1/5 A/C : 1/5 The staff at Mother's is really friendly and overall amazing. They have a good selection of draft beer, that is always served at a great temperature. Unfortunately, that's where the pros end. The burgers at Mother's are unbelievably bad. These are the worst burgers I've had in NYC. It's like the owners and/or cooks just don't care about the food. I'm writing this review after eating here twice. I gave them the benefit of doubt the first time. But my second visit confirmed that these guys really get away with serving inedible burgers. We had the regular and veggie burgers. The regular one was devoid of flavor. The veggie burger on both occasions was deep fried and left in the fryer for far too long. The fries though were good on both occasions. They also tend to not have their AC on, on warmer days. I will not be visiting again. There's a lot of good options for food in the area and I'd gladly pay a bit more and get a quality burger somewhere else.
Bartender was dismissive and unhelpful. Food was okay. The vibe inside the bar is pretty dead. Wouldn’t recommend, there’s so many other good spots on the block.
Relatively good hamburgers. Still needs to improve. Above is my previous opinion. Lately they burn burgers. It is more like “ burn burger “ less a burger. They have to definitely improve.
Apparently you must be white to be served here. Between 8:00-8:15 on Friday, 12/11, I sat at the bar to enjoy their highly remarked burger, but to no avail. I waved my hands to get both bartenders attention as they served 6 people instead of me. Yes, I began counting as I sat for 15 mins. Mind you, the count were of those walking in after me - one couple with a friend, one single male, and two males. The couple with the friend sat at the table across from the bar, the single male sat approximately three seats away, and the two males at the other end. I was the only person of color in the entire establishment, or at least of a darker skin tone. Appalling.
Manager was exceptionally rude to our group because we had kids with us. Such a shame because the bartender was kinds and we had been there previously and they were welcoming. Felt discriminated against.
Burger was supposed to be medium rare came out well done and very dry. My chicken sandwich however was hardly cooked the core was still pink. Called the restaurant and they offered to re-make everything if I picked it up. I agreed and to my surprise it was just as bad the second time. Also the gluten free buns are horrible and fall apart.
It's 02/13/2026 1:30pm Idk who was behind the register but whomever she was y'all don't need to have her working there her attitude and Aura was just straight nasty & all the chicken looked like it was from yesterday 🤮
Normally, it's a good burger spot, but my comrade and I had to leave hungry because I guess the blonde bartendress didn't put our food order in. Being able to see into the kitchen, it was clear they weren't busy. The nail in the coffin was seeing patrons who arrived and ordered well after we did have their food ran to them. 40 minutes wasted. This place is off my list of regular spots.
I have been sick the past two days after eating at Mother’s. So no I don’t recommend
We walked in sat down, waited for 10 minutes. No one came to the table to take our order. It wasn’t very busy to say that they was taking someone else’s orders. I got up, went to the person behind the bar they took my order I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe waited 30 minutes to get my order you can hear the chef or the cook and the back ringing the bell a few times none of the worker hear it The chef himself brought me my order. It was cold. Very disappointed.
