Pub Date Brooklyn Reviews
This bar nails the cozy, neighborhood vibe with warm lighting, exposed brick, and lively energy. The drinks are well-crafted, the wings are delicious, and the staff keeps things friendly and efficient. Great music, cool decor, and a welcoming crowd make it an ideal spot for relaxing or catching up with friends.
My friends & I came here for trivia. There were no open tables or enough bar stools available inside when we arrived. A very generous employee offered to go retrieve us an extra bar stool from another restaurant down the block & brought it to us! Really kind gesture & good service. I had the grilled cheese & tomato soup & it was excellent. We would happily return again.
I enjoy FancyFree’s for a nicely priced beer and the occasional cocktail. Since having their lemon pepper wings, that’s all I get. They are so balanced with a nice kick of lemon, heat from the peppercorn and the texture is crispy. Nice neighborhood spot to meet friends or have a casual date. The sports decor and extremely high ceilings/windows make it a memorable spot for a day time hang.
A very cool place to hangout after a long day at work. I explored this on my way to concert at Brooklyn paramount. They’ve a great happy hour menu and serve until 7 PM during the weekdays (Monday to Friday). They’ve indoor as well as outdoor seating. Bartender was pretty and welcoming. I tried a vegetarian empanadas on their menu which was deliciously filled with black beans, corns and cheese. I loved the taste. And had a house lager (Founders) from their happy hour menu. I’m looking forward to try out their cocktails on my next visit! Thank you for your service. Kudos to the FancyFree team. Love, Amey!
FancyFree in Brooklyn's Lafayette offers a delightful dining experience. The menu boasts a diverse selection of dishes, from classic burgers and tacos to creative cocktails. The quality of the ingredients is evident in every bite. I especially enjoyed the crispy wings with their tangy sauce and the perfectly cooked burger. The cocktails are expertly crafted and refreshing. The service is top-notch. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, making you feel right at home. Whether you're looking for a casual night out with friends or a romantic dinner, FancyFree is the perfect spot. If you're in the Brooklyn area, be sure to check out FancyFree. You won't be disappointed!
A great place to relax, eat and enjoyed the vibes. Food always served fresh, juicy, hot. Staff is friendly and they make EVERYONE feel special. Location is cool and the space is wheelchair accessible. I come here atleast once a month with my co-producer after a series of filming. The Lemon and Pepper chicken is one of my Favorite finger food, but if you're not allergic to seafood you Must Try their Pan Seared Salmon!!! Yumm
Loved it here. It's a great pub. They offer great food, with a few Vegetarian and Vegan options. I ordered the Veggie Burger and it was really good. I topped it with jalapenos which gave it a nice spiciness. The service was super great. They also provided our dog a water bowl, which was super nice. I recommend to go to FancyFree, they have really good options and offer a great atmosphere
The bartenders are amazing and so kind but the owner is in uptight loser who got offensively angry when we were offered a shot - normal occurrence for loyal bar patrons. I feel really bad for him but he shouldn’t take it out on his paying customers, really put off by him. New management maybe?
I recently stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with my family after an event at BAM across the street, and it was the perfect low-key spot to grab food and drinks. The atmosphere really sets it apart—those soaring ceilings and massive windows create an airy, open feel that's perfect for daytime drinking, and the sports decor adds character without being over the top. Despite being a sports bar (I'm sure it gets lively during Knicks playoff games), it was surprisingly family-friendly during our visit. We saw several other families, including one with a small baby, and the vibe was welcoming and chill. It wasn't crowded, so we could sit wherever we wanted. On this visit, we tried the deviled eggs, french fries, and Sonoran dog, all of which were tasty and came out impressively fast. The drinks are solid too: my Negroni was well-made, and they have well-priced beers and decent cocktails throughout. Daily specials make it even more budget-friendly. The staff is friendly and laid-back, which matches the overall vibe. Bonus points for being dog-friendly with a sidewalk patio, and the hours (weekdays 3-11pm, weekends 12-11pm) work well for both afternoon hangs and evening plans. Super convenient if you're hitting up BAM.
Good times at Fancy Free! After I sat down at least 3 servers asked within 5 minutes if I needed anything. They are very aware and very friendly. The deviled eggs were delicious , slightly smoky , slightly spicy and including a crunch of fried onions! The chicken empanadas were tasty as well. The prices here are very reasonable and the vibe is good!
Stopped in for happy hour before a movie. The drinks were ok, not the best margarita but it also wasn’t the worst that I’ve had. Loved that they have lots of tvs, although all seemed to be on the same Olympic game. The music was good and the high ceilings made the space feel large. Ample seating at the bar and throughout. The wings and fries were AMAZING! Lately I have noticed that I scrutinize service at bars/restaurants more after I spent a long day working with (& for) children. Service is really important b/c I know what it takes to provide a service (that is at no cost) and be as accommodating as possible. So when I’m PAYING for something I 100% have higher expectations. I thought the service was lacking. It felt like they were trying to avoid serving me as happy hour came to an end, almost rarely checking in. I only got water after the I asked a different bartender for another drink b/c the 1st drink had too much tahini. The 2nd bartender seemed to be covering for the lack of attention to detail in service of the 1st one.
The vibes were good! They played wnba when I asked, but I have to say the nachos we ordered were cold and had pickled onions, and just overall were not good. I’ll also say technically my friend and I ordered the same hazy ipa and got different things so just overall wanted to like it due to the vibe but the food and drinks weren’t quite up to par.
Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was pretty unfortunate and the reason this is 3 stars. My wife ordered the tortilla soup and it was indisputably, irrefutably, undeniably just tomatoes bisque with tortilla chips tossed in. The menu listed it with all the add-ons that you'd expect like jalapenos, corn, cilantro etc and this had none of them... Just regular tomato bisque with some tortilla chips on top. We asked them to rectify it, and we got a hand-wavey nonsensical response and they brought us a cup of pickled jalapenos. So congrats to us I guess.... We got tomato bisque and jalapenos lol. The chicken sandwich was decent but my "fries" were ENTIRELY just the burnt dregs of the frozen bag from cisqo. You know what I mean... A whole plate of half-inch stubs and dried up brown pieces. Not a single fry with the structural integrity to hold sauce and all tasting like spent oil. I genuinely liked the place and the drinks but the food isn't happening. Might actually be some good food hiding back there in terms of ingredients, but the prep and discernment in what gets plated is definitely NOT there yet.
I want to like FancyFree but it seems like they have some kitchen issues they need to sort. Visited twice and had problems both times. First time they burned our Fried Pickles appetizer and had to remake them so they barely came out before our entrees, leaving a large gap between when our cocktails arrived and actually got food. Server explained and apologized but still... The second visit they served our appetizer with our entrees, also not cool. Cocktails, appetizers, then entrees, it's not hard. Having said all that, the food and cocktails are pretty good. In spite of not timing them right, the Fried Pickles are tasty. Fried Chicken entree was surprisingly boneless and the chicken was quite good. The waffle less so, the dough was weirdly dense, not airy and light as you'd expect. A&W Old Fashioned cocktail had great flavor and was not too sweet. Fish and Chips entree from our first visit was also pretty good. Staff were friendly and helpful on both visits. Overall, I'm on the fence. If they can sort out the kitchen issues, they could easily be a four or five star experience but based on what we've seen so far, gotta go with three.
