Walters Brooklyn Reviews
Tonight I finally met my girls at Walter’s—a place that had come highly recommended by both of them, though it was my very first visit. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt seamless. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, which set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. We kicked things off with drinks, and every choice was a winner. The Prosecco was crisp and refreshing, the Penicillin was perfectly balanced, and the Manhattan was smooth and classic—an excellent way to start the night. For appetizers, we shared the wild oysters and deviled eggs, and both were absolute hits. The oysters were some of the freshest and best I’ve ever had in New York. The mignonette sauce was incredible, and the other two sauce options were just as impressive—I honestly could have eaten raw oysters all night. When it came time for our main courses, the food continued to impress. Everything on the menu sounded tempting. My friends opted for the steak and frites and truly enjoyed every bite. I chose the Caesar salad with added salmon, which was cooked to perfection—crispy skin and all—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Beyond the food, the ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a great night out. The waitstaff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and helpful without being intrusive, which elevated the entire experience even more. I absolutely loved this place and will most definitely be back.
Tonight’s dinner was amazing, we had a few shared apps, such as the wings, kanpachi crudo and the crab toast. Very tasty and highly recommend. For mains we had the roasted chicken and the steak frites and it was excellent. The service was absolutely amazing! We will be back for sure. Huge shout out to the whole Walter’s FOH staff and the kitchen staff
We pulled up for impromptu brunch for my daughter's birthday and the vibe was great. We had a short wait that zoomed by while we browsed the outdoor markets lined around Ft. Green Park. Food and service were A1. Highly recommend the espresso martini. We dined alfresco allowing for people and fall folliage watching. A newfound gem in my downtown BK backyard.
Was very nice. The atmosphere was very chill and lots of pop up shops in the area. Food was great and came in a timely manner . Service was A1. The steak was well seasoned and the drinks were great. More than enough alcohol but still great tasting. The price was good. Goof food isn't cheap and cheap food isn't good.
I had been to Walter’s many times for brunch and would have said it was pretty good and reliable. My dinner experience was spectacular: attentive, graceful service; beautiful plating; and the dishes were rich interpretations of all time favorites. I loved the smoked trout toast, the rigatoni with peas and mint tasted fresh from a garden; and the rosemary roast chicken with mashed potatoes felt like home, if home had a CIA trained Michelin starred chef. The chocolate pot with salt was also amazing, I ate it even tho I had been full since the 3rd plate on the 5 plate family style meal. My only suggestion would be for the noise -it’s so loud and hard to hear friends at dinner because it’s a very lively space. I wore my Loop experience ear plugs and was fine. I’ll be back. Thank you for a beautiful evening.
We came here Sunday for brunch and we were greeted by the most pleasant host and hostess, it was a quick 10minute wait and we were in! Waitress was great too and as soon as we sat down we were handed menus and given water. She was able to switch out my water glass that appeared a little run down making it look dirty. No prob! Food came out quick and hot and most importantly it was banginnn! We had huevo rancheros, chicken and waffles, the kale Caesar salad with anchovies (best part!) and for dessert the key lime pie and a cappuccino. We wouldn’t order the key lime again because it didn’t quite taste like your typical key lime pie and it was orange hue that we were told was that color because of the eggs. 🥴 Overall we really enjoyed this place and will return. Go here!!!
I was trying to get to sushi speakeasy in the back and ended up at the bar. The Rosita cocktail is so balanced and tasty I went back again the next day lol. I had the oysters, waygu French dip sandwich, fries and kale Caesar. I recommend all the items I tried, but the oysters are really small. Tre was a very amazing bartender and very accommodating. This is a must try.
I came here for Sunday brunch with my friends. Our reservation was for 11:45 AM - by about 12:15 PM the restaurant was very busy. We sat in a comfy booth - we all loved the fried chicken & waffles. We also tried the French dip sandwich with fries - we liked it but wouldn’t order it again. We loved dipping the fries into the French dip! We indulged in mango mimosas and mango lemonades with rum. The drinks were amazing! I cannot wait to return next time I’m in Brooklyn.
Outstanding food and service! Came in during a busy Friday lunch rush and the service was excellent. Everyone was so attentive and kind. The menu is small and carefully crafted which I really enjoyed. Walter’s has the absolute best fried chicken I’ve ever tried in NYC! Perfectly crispy coating with delicious tender meat and generous portions. The bacon gravy and hot honey take this dish to three next level. Truly a spectacular meal in a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. I’ll certainly be back as brunch menu looks incredible as well. Couldn’t recommend more highly!
Love this restaurant right by fort greene park! Easy to make last minute res or walk in and sit at the bar. Great atmosphere and service. Super cute interior with good music and lighting. Lots of outdoor seating. They have the best fries ever!! I’ve come back here twice to get the burger and the kale Cesar. So good!! The cocktails are super good too and reasonably priced for NYC ($15). 10/10 recommend
Great brunch spot right off the park. The inside is relaxed with tin ceilings and a cool vibe. The Bloody Mary is good with a nice heat to it from a ton of horseradish in it. The chicken of the chicken and waffles was a little dry on the inside (white meat and a little dry) but the breading and crust on the outside was delicious. The hot sauce it came with had great heat and should be used on everything! The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was also good. Best thing was the hash browns, so yummy!! Highly recommend for a good brunch if you find yourself in Fort Greene. And if you go on Saturday’s, there’s a farmers market at the park right outside.
Came for brunch. A nice variety to choose from even though the menu is on the smaller side. The temporary outdoor seating structure is one of the best I’ve seen with quality chairs and tables, live plants, and thoughtful/cohesive decor. Food was absolutely delicious and prices are fair for the portion and quality.
A decent eatery near the park, open relatively early, we walked in around 4pm on Saturday for early dinner. They had a very limited early menu (the main dinner menu starts at 5pm) - the raw bar and a burger were available. The burger was good but with a hard chewy pickle, my friend's poke was not much different from a regular tuna tartar and quite small. The gluhwein comes from a pre-made mixture (white wine based) and gets warmed with a coffee machine steamer, it was way too sweet. But wine selection is decent including interesting orange wines. Overall a casual neighborhood vibe with a local crowd of all sorts.
Mango Lemonade was good. My fried chicken with mashed potatoes entree was actually very good - I would recommend this. Hot honey was a nice touch on the side. Steak and fries entree was extremely disappointing. We ordered it medium, yet it arrived rare. Also, the parts that were cooked were chewy, so I don't think it would've been good even if it was cooked medium. The fries looked good in the pictures, but they were ok at best. The service wasn't very present. No one came to ask us how our food was until we were done. Disappointing experience and expected more for the price.
I’m leaving this review to bring attention to management. We truly love Walter’s; it’s our go-to spot, and we’ve celebrated so many milestones there, finding comfort in its consistent quality. However, we were disappointed with our meal last night. We’ve always loved your signature French fries—it’s one of the highlights for us. But for the first time in over two years of being loyal customers, we were served a completely different style of fries. It was disappointing, to say the least. If this is a permanent menu change, we’re afraid we might not remain regulars.
