The Bath Arms Cheddar Reviews
I spent a long time searching for the perfect base to explore the south of England, and the moment I saw the photos of this hotel, I instantly fell in love we simply had to stay here. After a long journey, we were welcomed by warm, smiling, and genuinely friendly staff who made us feel as if we were arriving at a friend’s home rather than a hotel. Throughout our stay, we always felt truly cared for the kind of feeling you get when someone is happy to see you return after a day of adventures. Everything was a delight, from the beautifully prepared food to the thoughtful presentation of each dish. The rooms are spacious, cosy, and filled with little touches that make you instantly relax and feel comfortable. We couldn’t recommend this wonderful hotel more, and we will most certainly return to this special place that has found its way into our hearts.❤️
This hotel and gastropub is an absolute gem. The service is excellent. They were able to accommodate for strict dietary requirements. (Look out for the sheep hanging from the ceiling!) The room was very comfortable and the bathroom large with a luxuriously big bathtub! Very nice moisturiser too.
I'll start with the service because it was exceptional, and we were made to feel welcome and right at home immediately. There was a great selection of drinks, and the food was absolutely to die for!! The menu is fantastic, reasonably priced, and catered brilliantly for me as a coeliac. Honestly, it's an incredible place, and I can't wait to go back.
Had lunch in the bar today, the food was amazing I had probably the best risotto outside of Italy. Well done!
Came here for Father’s Day. This was our second visit to this pub and the food was excellent. The pub offers gluten free which is safe for coeliacs so I always eat well. I had the pork roast, the portion was massive. Only negative was no GF Yorkshire and the pigs in blankets was just stuffing wrapped in bacon which was a shame. However they were absolutely huge. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
We came in for a meal. Table of 5 they catered to what we wanted, and they were happy to do so. We had duck a pie and nuggets. The meal was impeccable, well presented, service was brilliant and tasted absolutely amazing. Big thanks to the chef and other staff we came on holiday to cheddar and that’s the best meal we have had all week
Stayed while visiting Cheddar Gorge. A perfect location, in the centre of Cheddar, in walking distance of the Gorge. Had a great stay. Room was nice, and breakfast was lovely. Had dinner too, which was also very well done, and all homemade. A very good selection of gluten-free too. All staff very accommodating, and extremely friendly. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area
The Bath Arms Hotel was fantastic. Rooms were light bright and clean and fresh. Drinks and food so delicious. The whole team were so welcoming and nothing was a problem. Excellent value for money. Free parking to boot. Well done Bath Arms Team
Excellent value considering the quality of the room and the location. Have eaten here on a number of occasions whilst staying in the area and food always great, would recommend the king prawn linguine. Great local pub too. Only minor issue is the bath is rather slippery when using the shower.
Visited the bath arms on a busy Saturday in August. Food was really delicious, service, although perhaps not very slick was incredibly friendly and efficient. Place was very clean. Highly recommend
I came here twice, only for a drink with family, so my thoughts are only about the bar, but I loved it! It had a comfortable, homely vibe that never got too loud, with an eclectic mix of people. With several log burners that were regularly topped up with logs, it's the perfect place to go on a winter's day. As an ale drinker, there wasn't much choice, just the usual few options from the local brewery, but that was easily forgiven because of the friendly staff and warm comforts of the fires.
I rarely remember to leave reviews but felt like I needed to praise this business. Myself and my friend stayed the night here while visiting the area, the staff could not have been more friendly. I had to call about something the day before, the staff member had been very helpful and had left a note for the next day so other staff would be aware. They were very welcoming, very helpful for local recommendations. Great selection of drinks at the bar. The breakfast was lovely and well presented. I hope the manager of this hotel knows just how refreshingly friendly and helpful everyone was. Next time I’m in the area I will definitely stay here again.
This is my favourite pub in Cheddar and go for multiple visits on each trip here. It is so cozy, great atmosphere, multiple fires going. I’m a solo traveller and it’s so welcoming, can just sit and do puzzles amongst the cozy humdrum. Super well run, staff are really lovely and food is just totally delicious. A real find.
A calm and cosy place with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The wood-burning fireplace makes it feel even more special. Our 7-year-old son was absolutely delighted by the spinning wheel used as decoration — especially as it was in working condition. We enjoyed our dinner; the food was tasty and the service friendly. It’s just a little pity that the menu has changed, but overall it’s a charming spot we’d happily return to.
We were staying in Cheddar for New Year and we had two meals at the Bath Arms which were excellent. Staff were really friendly and efficient.we had the set menu on one night (Monday to Thursday special menu) which was excellent value for money.well recommended!
This pub exceeded expectations. The sandwiches are outstanding; fresh ingredients, generous portions, and packed with flavor. Service was quick and professional, even during peak times. While it’s a bit on the upmarket side in terms of price, the quality more than justifies it. I’m glad I listened to the reviews; this place really delivers. A perfect spot if you're looking for a classy pub experience with top-tier food.
Booked in for Sunday roast which I can honestly say was the best roast I've had for a long time. So many pubs do roast very average but this was way above that. Everything was cooked lovely and the service was great. Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be back.
I am staying here for 3 nights for work and the pub itself is so lovely, friendly and welcoming, really nice clientele and very clean. Food is incredible and the drinks are very good. The staff really do stand out, they are the best part of this hotel, you can tell they enjoy their jobs and they make you so welcome, nothing better than a smile and good chat in the morning for breakfast. The rooms are excellent, I was in the Sleepy Swift at the end, very large comfy bed, some noise from the road but not enough to bother me but ear plugs provided. Overall it has been a fabulous few days, I have started a new job here in Cheddar and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel has been a huge help.
Visited 9 years ago returned this week not much changed still fantastic value for money. Rooms spot on. Welcome brilliant staff excellent and friendly helpful all the way. Excellent stay I'd recommend to everybody. Huge car park. Don't miss this. 4 stars above Premier Inn and better beds. Absolutely fantastic breakfast
Lovely rustic looking pub. We only had coffee but the roaring fire was welcome after the Cliff Top walk.
Popped on for a drink as local and will definitely be using the Bath arms more. Friendly clean great service and welcoming atmosphere
We were a group of 8 that had Sunday Lunch. Both the food and the service was brilliant. Lovely size portions and the quality was spot on.
This lovely hotel is very well situated, upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming member of staff who gave us a personal tour of the hotel, we also received free complimentary snacks in our room that also had very quirky names, our room was large and our bathroom was huge. We were booked in to the restaurant for the evening where the food and service was outstanding. Service from all the staff couldn’t have been better and our stay was worth every penny and more.
Great food, warm and cosy with the fire on, dogs welcome! Staff were all friendly, particular shout out to Murray, keep up the great work 😁
Lovely food, great service, really nice pub
Great atmosphere, cosy seating around log fires with excellent food and service. What’s not to like!
Just had dinner in The Bath Arms, the steak and mushroom pie is to die for, homemade and filled with chunks of steak and plentiful mushrooms, surrounded by a gorgeous pastry shell. Sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice cream...delicious. We are staying at local motorhome site nearby, and we will be visiting again and 100% will be eating here again. Staff are lovely and the pub itself was warm and inviting. My wife is wheelchair user and the pub is fully accessible with disabled facilities with easy access.
Had a lovely meal, good service and great food and drink. We were staying elsewhere so can't comment on accommodation.
The staff at the Bath arms are a real credit to this establishment all were so friendly and helpful and made us so welcome. The food was delicious and the breakfast was 2nd to none. Great location and would not hesitate recommending.
Possible the best roast I have ever had?! And I have had a few in my time 🙈 would def recommend. Great selection of cider on draught too!
We went for dinner last week. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was spot on. Enjoyed the cod and mussels and my partner had the beef pie, we both had the Eton mess. Absolutely perfect! Very friendly and polite staff!!
Amazing food and a great service. Worth a visit and seems to cater for everyone.
It's a great pub, would definitely recommend it. Great food, great beer, great wine.
Recommended by someone but omg the best roast I've ever had 😋 everything was cooked to perfection plz try if you visit cheddar 😋
We booked a meal for 4 plus our friends dog, staff were extremely helpful and very polite. We all chose from the £25 3 course menu. Mushroom starter, pork belly main and cheese cake to finish, all were delicious, for me the pork was excellent, just how I like it. Will certainly come here again, if we are on holiday in the area again.
An excellent lunch in a clean abd friendly pub
Called in for a pint. Stayed for food which was excellent.
We could not fault The Bath Arms for our evening meal. Good menu with great choice. Food arrived, hot, tasty and plenty of it. We had the baked Camembert to share to start. I had the steak n mushroom pie which was fantastic, my wife had the belly pork. Both fabulous and filling too. The service couldn’t be faulted, we came away full and happy, strongly recommend
Didn't stay at the hotel but had a wonderful meal with family. One of the best main meal's and dessert I've had in a long time. The other members of the family said the same.
We held my late Mum's Celebration of Life at the BA. We took over the restaurant and 70 people attended for the get-together and light buffet. We couldn't fault anything and the staff were a delight. During the same weekend, we also enjoyed Sunday lunch for 11 of the party who had stayed over - again, the food was fabulous and the staff attentive and helpful.
We came here for a meal and a few drinks and it's honestly a really lovely place with excellent service and tasty food. If you're in cheddar and want a safe bet, this place is a great choice.
Delicious lunch with lovely staff! What a lovely pub. My mum and I went for lunch today and we were met with warm smiles and very courteous staff. Our food was delicious, especially the chips which were amazing, it came out quickly and the atmosphere of the pub was lovely. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely pub, dog friendly. Food was delicious. Service good, good choice of beers/cadere. We ate in the pub but theres a restaurant too.
Rode down to the area from Pontypridd to visit a local business. There were 8 of us all together. We got seated and served lovely food without a reservation.
Popped in for a drink on our first day in Cheddar. The bar staff were super friendly and even gave us some local tips on things to do on our holiday. 🙌
A beautiful traditional pub, with a very luxurious bedroom. The food was excellent and Murphy and Rosie like all the other staff were very friendly and informative. I would definitely like to stay here again.
Excellent luncheon today, brilliant service and informative staff. Superb food all round and great gluten free options for my daughters. Highly recommended. Do not forget to put your registration plate into the tablet on the bar to cover the parking charges.
We went there for Sunday dinner, the meal was excellent, the staff friendly and really helpful. Definitely good value for money
Friendly staff, good food and the place was very dog friendly which was perfect for us after a walk around the gorge.
A brilliant pub to stay in. Friendly service, room was lovely and comfortable. Food was great too. A very enjoyable stay here. Would recommend.
Lovely place in the centre of cheddar. A good selection of drinks at the bar. Some nice food on the menu. We had a Thai chicken curry each and some chips. Sadly the only brought 1 meal out, so I had a small wait for mine to be cooked. They kindly provided us with 2 pints as an apology which was great. Lovely staff, can't do enough for you.
The service was great and the cider was lovely although the pub just has no atmosphere!
Back again 3rd time. For the Easter bank holiday.. As always we have such a great time staying here. Beds comfy and room spotless.. . Lovely warm friendly welcome. Breakfast tasty and scrumptious. Absolutely loved my eggs benedict.. Great atmosphere keep doing what your doing because it's a great place to stay. Not overpriced either. Well worth the money ..Thank you
Cracking Sunday roast in a village setting service is fantastic as is the food id recommend booking in advance 😊
Really disappointing visit for dinner whilst staying in the area the owner of our accommodation recommended the Bath Arms so we had high hopes but it was distinctly average food. The staff were very friendly and helpful and especially the man who served us initially with our drinks was fun and kind to our 10 year old son. Starters were salt and pepper squid which was supposed to come with dressed rocket, and lemon aioli. Had 3 pieces of undercooked salt and pepper squid, a handful of plain undressed rocket and no alioli. For £10 this is overpriced I feel. My husband's main was Sweet potato, courgette & onion bhaji burger chutney, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, fries, coleslaw and he had no problems with this. I chose the Thai yellow curry, jasmine rice, prawn crackers; which was tasty and a good portion but the chicken was slightly tough. The biggest disappointment was my son's meal (Spaghetti Bolognaise) it came out the pasta was overcooked and there was no meat in the sauce whatsoever it tasted like something out of a jar. No cheese and burnt garlic bread. I complained and asked them to take it back and change for the kids burger which by the time it came out we had all finished our meals and was also tough. So sad as our last night in Cheddar was a bit of flop and they didn't offer money off for the inconvenience, Given all the amazing reviews it's baffling maybe we just got a bad night.
Only popped in for a drink Sunday 7th Sept, as we'd just got to Cheddar and were exploring. Got 2 pints of Peroni and they were horrendous and tasted of vinegar/chemicals. They obviously do not clean their lines correctly or care about the product they ate selling. Told the staff and they were not interested. We walked to The Riverside Inn, a short 5 minutes from The Bath Arms and it was so much nicer and the draught drinks were so much nicer. So much so we came back to The Riverside Inn for every evening meal instead of this place.
Visited on a Sunday for a birthday celebration, not having tried here before. The 3 adults in the party all had a sunday roast at a cost of £21.95 each. To say it was disappointing for the price would be an understatement. The meat slices were wafer thin and the beef was sinewy and tasteless. The yorkshire pudding was the typical large sort that covered your plate, but again lacked any flavour. As for the vegetables, blink and you would miss your portion. Three small and undercooked roast potatoes, a single stem of undercooked broccoli, a little cabbage and a teaspoon sized portion of carrot and swede mash. The gravy was watery and minimal. For the price I would have expected a quality Sunday roast and this was far from it. We did not stay for dessert, as £11 for a piece of cheesecake seems extortionate. The only positive was that the girls who were working were very friendly and attentive.
Over £20 for a plated roast dinner. Didn’t come with stuffing but my partners did. Wasn’t very hot, only warm. Didn’t feel like a roast dinner, mostly cabbage and some kind of swede mash. Wouldn’t recommend
